LMAO this is the mentality that makes people agree that Mercedes is brand for arrogant 17-year-old children. Not just in Africa but all around the world. From driving dangerously and endangering yourselves and other road users regardless of bad roads and sharp bends (which many times lead to accidents) to bad-mouthing people for buying your car brand. I've seen someone saying that C-class is not a "real" Mercedes. The other person agreed that anything below E-class is not a "real" Mercedes. You people are very funny. How does someone buying a Mercedes as a second car mean he's bad? Even though I tongue-lash European cars including Mercedes for their recent poor run in reliability, so if I decide to buy another Mercedes in the future out of curiosity or something, that means I have done evil? Even Toyota that is my favourite brand, I still criticise them for recent tasteless/poor design. Am I ineligible to drive a Toyota now? I don't know why Mercedes fans/drivers are toxic and arrogant but y'all need to reduce it please 3 Likes |

hi. I know some of u said here that if we wanna use Benz we shouldn't be "particular" about fuel consumption. Glad u added "particular". meaning, we should be bothered about it when it's extreme. iv studied recently that CATALYTIC CONVERTER doesn't have as much effect as OXYGEN SENSORS in respect to their respective effects on fuel-consumption. if so, pls for a car(Benz in this case) that it's catalytic converter has been removed,. would the oxygen sensors that is either still there or fixed into the system still have their optimal-effect? REPHRASE: Would oxygen sensors on the vehicle do all it's suppose to do? cos I have studied that oxygen sensors is the device that sends signal to the car on balancing the FUEL to AIR ratio. pls guru's in the house enlighten me on/us on this. |

nairamaniac: Yes the engine would work optimally but it is strongly advised that you put your CATALYST in order.... It helps fuel economy at least by 15% and environment My take sir |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by HeavenlyBang(m): 11:31am On Dec 25, 2020 |
IkpuMmadu: Cats have nothing to do with fuel economy. It's bad oxygen sensors that affect fuel economy. |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by IkpuMmadu: 11:58am On Dec 25, 2020 |
HeavenlyBang: That is the same thing I said...even if it does... It wou me negligible... In some cars The function of cats basically is environmental... My take |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by nairamaniac: 12:01pm On Dec 25, 2020 |
IkpuMmadu: Thanx for the reply Sir. but I quite agree completely with heavenlybang's response to your posts. Like u said, even if cat has effect, its could be as low as 15% or less iv been reading a lot about CAT and OXYGEN SENSORS these days, I have come to a conclusion that the oxygen sensor has the effect on the fuel consumption. MEANWHILE, guru's on this forum should enlighten us more on oxygen SENSORS. I read someone's post on another thread that not all oxygen sensors work on any car. https://www.nairaland.com/4216127/need-sourcing-oxygen-sensor-part That each car has it's on oxygen sensor that would work on it. That each oxygen sensor has it's PART NUMBER on it. And if you don't see the PART NUMBER, u can use VIN number to source for the right oxygen sensor to work with your car. cc: gazzuzz, autologic, honmusa, mayor123, nurey, chukel, timifakay, kingreign, cardoctor and other car guruz... LASTLY, I still want to know if the oxygen sensors would work optimally if the CAT has been removed. |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by nairamaniac: 12:27pm On Dec 25, 2020 |
I'm also just realizing that Mass AIR FLOW SENSOR also has it's owns Parts number on crested on it. That each car has its own MAF that compatible with it dependent on the numbers on it. And mechanics always told me that the usual way to purchase airflow is to go to the markets they are being sold, then start testing AIR FLOW sensors one by one. Then the one that finally works for your vehicle is the right one. Guy's is there a way to determine the right MASS AIR FLOW SENSORS and OXYGEN SENSOR for your vehicle using PART NUMBER's on them? cc paulibling

Hi everyone My Dad owns a Mercedes 230E and he has parked it for about 5years. I went to repair it this December. I've changed alot of things in the car, fuel pump (twice) Metal in the engine, Serviced the starter, alternator, radiator and many more. Now my problem is anytime I am driving the car, it will be jerking and won't accept acceleration. The mechanic said I should change it from injector to carburetor. I need advice or solution |

I’m a proud owner of 1997 w202 c230 bought exactly 7 years, 1 month, two weeks and few days ago. It was my first car. I got it against the advice of people around me and I did not regret for a second that decision. I had Peugeot 406 , Toyota Corolla and 1998-2000 Honda Accord as top contenders. This thread and the top players here then influenced my choice. There is hardly a day I would not have to drive this car and it have never slept at mechanic workshop except for an occasion when I bumped on a ridge and the transmission oil pan got broken with oil leaking that resulted to fry TCU that shut the car into limp home modeThe replacement took 3 days because the part had to be sourced outside my area. I drove Toyota Venza, 03/04 Corolla and Honda Accord 05 at a point, not the owner, none of them come in comparison to my old Benz in term of handling and stability on the road. Some of my close relative got Benz when they saw how mine has been a true servant. What have I changed? Engine oil (I used total quartz 9000) every 12 months, air flow meter 3 times the latest was this morning , coil 4 times, TCU, plugs occasionally, transmission oil 3 times, absorbers and brake pads. I have not had to open the engine for any reason and the car is still in top form despite everyday use and flogging. I smile sometimes when some cars of the same class and a step higher wanted to drag race with me on highway. I would even be taunting some drivers on the road and allow them to have a victory when I know what would take me to beat the is a kick down. Now I need to upgrade but I’m still keeping that legend. Here is my request, which year of w203 and brand can you recommend that would be as reliable and rugged as my w202? 3 Likes |

nairamaniac: Ya O2 sensors Are more important in fuel economy because every combustion engine need oxygen to work optimally and if the sensors are bad... The engineer would not combust well.... |
