Dang!! They must have harvested her Account infos somehow, somewhere... From what you posted up there, I think they linked her account info into an Opay and you know one can make a transfer from Opay app without OTP.. The Catalyst here is Atm.. Ask her is there any way she disclosed her pin to someone or at where she did the last pos transaction. The thieves have cloned and even universal cards for all banks, but it is difficult for money to be stolen unless youryour atm pin is compromised That's why bank warning is "pin" specific. Seanjay: We should try as much as possible to avoid the use of POS machine from any source. The ATM dommy must have been made through the use of one of the POS that the victim has used.There is a way that the the numbers on the ATM card and the pin number can be recovered from the pos. 4 Likes |

They snapped the front and back of her card then used it on a foreign website. Apologies but there's no way she can get the money back. If Interpol can help, the foreign merchant can submit the delivery address maybe they can be tracked. 7 Likes |

Details of her card must have been compromised. Another thing is does she leave details of her card on payment platforms? E.g Aliexpress, bet9ja etc or any other online platform. Its usually not advisable especially for those Nigerian companies, their payment gateways are easily hacked into by fraudsters, and any card information stored on those platforms are usually prone to situations like this. Some ATMs and POS also have key logging devices installed in them to capture all the details of your card immediately you slot them in. Sometimes just do a conscious check to be sure that nothing strange or foreign is attached to that terminal before slotting in your card. And then as much as possible, avoid buying second hand phones especially from sources you cannot vouch for, some of them have already pre installed malware to take down details of your account details when you download the mobile banking app of your bank. Let her report to her bank. Details of the transaction can be ascertained, if it's a local transaction, the recipient can be traced, she may not recover the funds, but she may just get some closure. Your sister have probably submitted her details including Bvn in one of this fund schemes... Try contacting branch international with those refs:and see what they can do, copy the appropriate email in cbn too 2 Likes |
