It’s been a very long time I visited this thread o!!

Abagworo still dey Nairaland? cheesy grin

I am presently in my hometown in Orlu. Nothing has really changed. Ihiala road to Orlu is in shambles except the Anambra axis which has a smooth road down to Isseke.
Is it a curse to have governors from Orlu? Why is Orlu still the way it is? What is the Supreme Court governor doing to repair the road that leads to his Omuma?

This is very shameful.

Orlu remains abandoned partly because hotels, brothels and rent seekers in Owerri lobby and even fight every governor of Imo state to submit to urban development and expansion of only Owerri in Imo state.

They lobby for all 6 tertiary education institutions of government to remain in Owerri - nothing in Orlu. One efulefu cites IMSUTH in Orlu as a compromise even though he knows that IMSUTH has not functioned since 2007; and even when it functioned, it’s a hospital where about 400 students from Owerri came to do practicals.

Don't be decieved, the only higher institution Imo State government built in Owerri is IMSU. The state poly is in Umuagwo, a rural community in Orlu zone while Imo State teaching hospital was also built in Orlu town.

You shouldn't encourage a noise maker, if any zone has a case, it is actually Okigwe and never Orlu.

Orlu zone has 12 LGAs but you equate Orlu zone to Okigwe zone of 6 LGAs.

12 LGAs of close to 3 million people but without a multi faculty public university to educate them is a SIN against the people in the zone, a nit wit wouldn’t see that; if you had blamed politicians from the zone..

Imopoly is a stone throw to Owerri, Owerri benefits 95% from Imopoly.

Is a university teaching hospital a university? No.
Worse, the teaching hospital you cite in Orlu had since been sabotaged to comatose state by people who believe all government projects of importance must be in the capital city?

Stop letting your disdain for Orlu senatorial district to make you a nit wit.

You addressing your Governor that way is wrong but Ihiala-Orlu road is good and Omuma road is good too. I used both. FERMA worked on the Ihiala-Orlu road with just few spots yet to be fully completed. The Orlu-Omuma-Mgbidi road is good with only one bad spot under reconstruction. I also used it.

Why not? After all, it’s not about photos of hotels and brothels in Owerri capital territory.

Apt in bolded.

Population of Owerri tripping in the last 5 years was architected by Rochas Okorocha’s inept government policy of concentration of government development landmarks in Owerri in 8 years. He boasted openly about his investing 65% of capital development budgeted funds of IMSG on Owerri in Owerri where he now lives.

Okorocha has an imaginary enemy in Orlu Municipal LGA, even before he became governor; therefore, as governor, he reduced Orlu urban LGA to rural area, except expansion of 4 streets in Orlu leading to the major road to his hometown in Ogboko, in Ideato South LGA, the four streets some one has shown here during the past 8 years as Okorocha’s development in Orlu urban LGA.

Of course, Okorocha’s refusal to place commensurate development infrastructures in Orlu to hold population in Orlu, resulted as well, to his refusal of same commensurate government infrastructures to other urban centers in Imo state, as he told all : “I am building our dear state capital city to international standard.”

Result: population influx from Orlu and Okigwe zones to Owerri.

Please stop this your silly madness. You do not have rights to create municipalities in Imo State. Orlu is not yet a municipality. All these childish behaviors you have demonstrated on this thread make you look silly. It is Orlu LGA not Orlu Municipal LGA.

“A municipal district is an administrative entity comprising a clearly-defined territory and its population. It can refer to a city, a town, a village, a small grouping of them, or a rural area.” —- English dictionary definition of Municipal area.

The poor education of most people in Imo state that Owerri is the only locality in Imo worth tagging Urban, Metropolis, Municipality - that your poor education is under-developing rest of Imo state outside Owerri area.

You cannot learn. English dictionary does not make a city, a town, a village and a small grouping of them a municipality. You come across as ill-educated village tout. I bet my last cent you have never been involved in the construction of simple gutter and certainly never found your dirty feet in the corridor of power where ordinances and regulations are passed to identify the level of clans, villages, towns and cities. It is unfortunate a person in your class would berate anybody about education or lack thereof. What a dunce.

In bold.
You learnt the words : Municipality, city, town, village from English language.

But perhaps only in Owerri shall the definition of the words now be given new meaning. Because Owerri is capital of Imo state and must remain the only developed place to earn whatever name to be given to a developed city.

Take your denial to the birds of the air.

I am also displeased with the poor electricity distribution in Orlu LGA. Why is it that EEDC or whatever they are called always perform low during festival season? I learnt that the Supreme Court Governor is in his village at Omuma.
Orlu has suffered in the hands of EEDC.

Self pity will not help u people, it will only make people see Orlu as a refugee camp (which is not the case). Orlu this, Orlu that, as if it is only Orlu that is neglected, u people are just crying like silly children, now u brought electricity into ur madness, as if Electricity is bad only in Orlu, as if Electricity is controlled by the state. U people should continue, very soon, Nigerians will see Orlu as a slum, they will liken Orlu to Somalia, and u guys would be stigmatised naturally by Nigerians, I hope then u guys would remember that u people caused it? I hope u will not complain then? The truth is no state, village or community in Nigeria enjoys an average 'livable' condition, some people are just good at hyping there states or villages while the stupid ones (like some who claim to come from Orlu here) continue to talk down and run down their communities, they live in self pity, they think there is a reward
for being a Refugee. Funny enough those hyping there states and communities feed on ur stupidity, they enjoy it when u begin to ridicule ur own, it gives them this feeling which the average American person enjoys while dealing with 3rd world countries.

Don't mind them, only a fool will cut his nose just to spite his face. It was exactly same thing that happened to Aba. Instead of constructively targeting their governors for poor performance, they decided to flood the internet with lots of disgusting pictures about the city, today Aba is known throughout Nigeria and beyond for its decadence. People who have not been to Aba now think that the city is a massive ghetto fit for only pigs. Investors ran away and anyone who identifies with Aba is looked down upon. Now, that's the fate some dumb efulefus want Orlu to suffer too. They should continue, they're doing themselves.

IMSG must place institutions and social amenities that induce development in Orlu.
As IMSG is now reactivating Owerri water supply system built by Mbakwe, IMSG must build Orlu zonal water works also proposed by Mbakwe.
Only a most stupid set of people would want Imo state of only Owerri as modern place.

The hue and cry about Orlu:

In 1976, Owerri was marginally ahead of Orlu in urban development.

But Owerri multiplied in urban expansion through Owerri seizing all institutions of government that induce development in a state , still covets them, fights governors who intend to extend institutions and amenities to other parts of the state.

Orlu is left with artisans and retailers as inhabitants.

See ehn Amah70 please stop with the unending whining. I returned home this December thinking that Orlu is soo bad the way you always depict it.

Whereas its just exaggerations, the inner roads in Orlu zone other local government areas are good, most were tarred by NDDC.
Orlu itself just has bad road towards the market area while going towards Nkwerre . Nkwerre itself has lots of new businesses , fine houses, hotels , plazas. Mind you Nkwerre is also part of Orlu zone.
What you should be asking for is concrete roads in the entire state because the roads aren't lasting. The underground water scheme can still be started in Owerri. It will eventually reach Orlu

Please just stop demarketing Imo state. I'm begging you.

There are many states in southern Nigeria that are struggling to reach the level of Imo state based on what I've seen in these past few days
