Your suggestions are good even more than that, we need someone that will invest massively in infrastructural development especially in Awka and also Onitsha, Nnewi with their conurbations and other fastest growing towns, We need smart mega City plans in Anambra state. We play for a good governor com November 2021, though obiano tried in Awka but he didn't execute all his plans in Awka for a world class city. But this shouldn't be the reason we don't need airport, this airport will open up every where around Umueri and it's environs (I.e neighbouring towns) mktinsight: 2 Likes |

Anambra international airport terminal will be the best and most beautiful in Nigeria. The whole body of the structure will be covered with glass cladding. The international airport shall be the busiest in Nigeria aside Abuja and Lagos. Where's the cursed demonic monkey called mktinsight? 12 Likes

Obiano failed woefully in road construction and maintenance... Good roads gives state a remarkable prestige.. Obiano should do and get out of the office for a credible man to take over... 2 Likes |

Anambra has the best road networks at least in SE region. Besides roads there are other things that forms part of overall infrastructures like airport, ICC, stadium, flyover, bridges, roads, etc., Obiano has done all of these and by the time he completes the international airport, he would stand out as the best governor out of the region since 1999. FOXDOSSIER: Sorry for you. This is a small local airport with a terminal building measuring around 3,000 sq meters with the arrival/departure hall less than 1,000 square meters which can contain around 200-300 people at best or the size of 1 Boeing 737 flight at a time. This is roughly the same size as the old Enugu Akanu Ibiam airport or the Asaba Airport. This means that such an airport at best can handle at most 5 such flights per day or around 1,500 passengers per day. Like I have told you before, go and finish school baboon. 6 Likes |

It has 3-floors and quite massive. The runway is the longest in Nigeria. It has taxiway which no other Nigerian airport has except Abuja and Lagos. Mktinsight kee yasef. mktinsight: Dude, you're not making sense! Aside the fact you haven't gone out with a hard-hat, safety boots and a measuring tape to take down exact measurements, it stands to reason that a new airport like this should start off with a manageable sized terminal building so scarce funds could be targeted at other areas of the project necessary for the airport to function maximally and fulfill accepted global safety and operational standards. If the terminal building would be busy to the extent you imply by your post, then it means the airport would be viable enough and able to self-fund the construction of a Terminal-2 within the next few years! 10 Likes 2 Shares |
Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by Abohboy: 1:16pm On Jan 02, 2021 |
Are you sure that this will be the third largest airport in Nigeria, unless they’re planning on building more terminals, because this current terminal is smaller then those in Lagos, Abuja, port harcourt and kano. Also on top of that the akwa ibom terminal looks larger than this one, you guys are hyping up the airport too much, it is a good development but your claiming it to be a lot more than it actually will be. 2 Likes |

Lolz Anambra International Airport will be among viable airports in Nigeria and one of the busiest. The terminal building is erected to 3floors, and the space give rooms for more development. I won't like to share plans on Anambra airport here, but just wait and observe everything. But stop talking about what you don't know 3 Likes 2 Shares |

PROUDIGBO: If you go through this thread plenty of people said it will be the most modern airport in Nigeria or the third largest, which is what I said I doubt it will be the third largest Abuja, Lagos, port harcourt and kano will all be larger it also won’t be the most modern airport in Nigeria and that is a fact. 1 Like |

Why is it your headache even if people say that it will be the largest airport ? Why are you worried if people here say it will be the most modern in Africa? This is a clear case of witchcraft. Why in the world would you idiots be most concerned over what we say here. You are not from Anambra, you have no connection whatsoever with Anambra but you hover around this thread like an evil spirit trying to get info over what we say here. Why not use the same time you waste here to focus on your hopeless life and your own state. Anambra international airport is gonna be be the best and busiest in Nigeria. Now kee yasef if that will cure your bitterness and frustration over what we say here. [s] Abohboy:[/s] 5 Likes |

PROUDIGBO: I am an engineer. I estimate the size of the terminals based on the structural steel skeleton. The capacity of an airport is correlated to the size of the terminal, number of gates not the runway. Having the longest runway means nothing if your terminal cannot handle an A380 Airbus which carries around 800 passengers. Heathrow has only 2 runways but 4 gigantic terminals. Heathrows famous terminal 5 is over 350,000 square meters or 100 times the size of Umueri Airport. Go and see the nightmare at Enugu old terminal when just people are going to board the Ethiopian 777 which carries 360 passengers. The terminal hall can barely contain 300 people and that doesn't include relations and friends. One gate means you can only have one flight leaving every 2 hours. A terminal like this is built for an airport that will see smaller planes like a 737 and at most 1 plane leaving or arriving every couple hours. An airport like this can do 1,000 passengers daily or 365,000 yearly. Such low capacity means the Anambra government will have to dig into its pockets to fund the costs of maintenance and the huge Capex spent. 1 Like |

https://punchng.com/on-the-new-airport-terminals/ It is estimated that the Port Harcourt International Airport is approximately 28,000 metre square and can facilitate seven million passengers annually with 24 check-in counters, three baggage collection carousels, 12 immigration desks at arrival and 16 immigration desks at departure , four passenger boarding bridges plus remote boarding and arrival to mention a few of the facilities. While the new international terminal at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport is designed to handle 15 million passengers annually and is almost twice the size of the earlier opened airport in Port Harcourt with approximately 56,000 square metres with 60m long sky walk that connects the airport terminal to the metro station. |

http://pioneernewsonline.com/news/6269/victor-attah-international-airport-a-peek-into-the-new-terminal-building Victor Attah International Airport (VAIA), an architectural masterpiece, plays a pivotal role in the economic development of Akwa Ibom. The airport, which sits on a large expanse of land covering Okobo, Uruan and Nsit Atai Local Government Areas, was named after the former governor of Akwa Ibom, Obong Victor Attah, to immortalize his visionary efforts in laying foundations for critical infrastructure in the state. It is instructive to note that the airport's concept, design and initial contruction were done by Obong Attah . His successor, Senator Godswill Akpabio, rolled the infrastructure that kickstarted flight operation. Today, Governor Udom Emmanuel has prioritized the airport because of its socio-economic importance to the overall development of Akwa Ibom. The terminal building spans about 183 metres in length, 117 metres in width and stands 14.5 metres high with a total area of 23,000 metres approximately. It is a three-storey building comprising the international and domestic wings. The ground floor is the checkin concourse; the first floor is for arrival while the second floor is the departure area. It has four escalators, seven lifts and staircases for ease of movement within the facility. Additionally, each of the six boarding bridges has a lift and staircase. The terminal building has the capacity to handle future demands of passengers with a flexible and adaptable framework that can respond to the increase in air traffic movement (ATM) per hour within the next 10 years forecasted to reach a maximum of 1,166,045 movements by 2029. Construction work at the International Terminal Building handled by a Turkish construction company, VKS Construction Company Limited, has achieved critical milestones and is currently at the second floor level. The terminal building , when completed, will commence with one Code-F and four Codes-C stands on the apron, five air bridges and a bus gate to serve remote stands. The airport will serve both domestic and international passengers and will allow direct flight connection among states and major destinations around the world. The rating of Akwa Ibom as a choice destination, economic and industrial hub and a safe haven for investors will, indeed, be further boosted on the completion of this terminal building. 1 Like |
