just no that online learning is not double tracking.

Once you know that, you will know what double tracking is.

All students are already learning online final year students will go on campus for their exams and first years will be allowed to familiarize with campus and have in person learning.

Other continuing students will continue with online learning for the rest of the semester.
They might go back to in person learning as soon as we stop recording new cases.

This is called phased opening.

As we speak, my other siblings who are studying abroad are sitting home doing online learning because trump sent them to their home countries to do their learning online.

All tertiary schools have enough space for students, their only problem is with providing accommodation on campus for all of them which is not even possible for most unis around the world.

Most Unis have more than enough accommodation space for freshers while they allow continuing students who don't get on campus accommodation to sort themselves out with private hostels outside campus.

UG has 80,000 students and will never be able to provide on campus accommodation for everyone. But freshers will always get accommodation on campus.
Private hostel facilities are in abundance for students outside campus.

Too bad because of court cases, their new campus hostel facilities are stagnant.

I don't understand you?
Why are you refusing to accept "the fact that Double track is still in the system"?

To you "the deliberate attempt to delay the admission process of the SHS 1 into school this month? and

"level 100+400 learning in school whilst level 200+300 study online at home to the middle of the semester then they interchange the two batches is not double track to you?

Back to the UG case.
It's not every student that would want to stay on campus but the University is supposed to provide accommodation that will meet the growing population/demand of the school, this is not rocket science. How do you expect many students to rent around Legon neighborhood? (Very expensive neighborhood) .

My points again,

-- The current SHS campuses can't contain all the students at a go.

-- Public Universities are now choked sake of the Government's inability to complete most of their infrastructural projects that could have contain the high number of the first year students (Free SHS students in mind)

--Goverments inability to employ more Lecturers into the Public Tertiary institutions is also a cause to this shift system. Now the "Lecturer-to-Students ratio" has widened hence the shift system (Most especially Colleges of Education)

You see what i was saying, the academic calender has completely shifted?

WASSCE to be written in September/October and BECE in November.
Meaning, student will enter high school in March, possibly.
Basic schools are shifting unto the Semester system.

Just30 answer me,

Will all year batches(SHS 1,2,3) go to school at a go?

Or will some stay home whilst others stay on campus?

there are only SHS 2 and 3 students in the system. There is not even a single SHS 1 student at any school, so your question have no basis.

Those currently in SHS are all going to school this month.

guy, a uni running online programs for it students does not make it a double track system.
Even Harvard is not allowing their final year students to sit at home.
It is completely illogical for any uni to let it final year students to sit at home.

Are you trying to say, Covid was a deliberate attempt to keep schools from admitting freshers?

Level 400 and 100s have a lot of stuffs to do on campus at this point, that cannot be done online. Level 200 and 300 dont have those problems. That is why they will complete their semester online.
What kind of inter changing do you keep referring to?
When level 200 and 300 are allowed on campus, they wont be inter changing anyone other group of students, they will just be joining their colleagues on campus.

No university provides enough accommodation for all it students and Legon is not an exception.
Staying in a private hostel in North Legon is not that expensive as you think. Most of them, the cost sums up to the same amount you will pay for hostel facility on campus.

Have you not realised that students population is finally dropping back to normal levels in SHS?
That's to tell you that the current infrastructure of SHS can contain students and there is no need to double track, hence the cancellation. Infrastructure have also increased in shs around the country.
As we speak, Accra Aca currently have empty classroom blocks.

No public uni is choked, govt is not the one that provide infrastructure on uni campuses but the Uni board based on their IGF. Mahama weaned off all unis from govt finances. The unis can borrow based on their own balance sheets and when they default, the debt becomes govt debt.

The unis are not spending much on any infrastructure and personnel because there's no need for that currently.
Student increase is not significant enough to warrant it.

Colleges of education are being flooded because of government stipend and nothing else. That does not mean, there need to be additional spending on infrastructure in that area.
That allowance shit need to be cancelled
It makes no sense to be paying students for studying.

There was no crowding at colleges of education and student teachers were receiving quality training until the nonsense Allowance came back.
Suddenly, everyone wants to train as a teacher

In the past, Colleges of Education were running 3year Diploma courses. First and second years were the ones staying on campus whilst final year students stayed outside for their off-campus teaching practice till completion.

The Government rolled out a new program in all these training Colleges in 2018. Per the new program all Education colleges run 4year Degree courses, level 100/200/300 are supposed to stay on campus then they will go for off-campus teaching practice in level 400.

Any sensible Government would have pre-empt and expanded all training Colleges to absorb the future extra batch of students but these low thinking Government sat aloof "two years" without building a hut in any of the training Colleges.

Government had no plans for employing more Lecturers hence this nonsense double track grin grin grin

so far, you've not mentioned any uni that is running double track.

So, per your write up, there are only 3 years stream of students on colleges of education campuses, there are no level 400 students so your crowding complains is neither here nor there. grin grin

Only those admitted from 2018 onwards will attend for 4 years for a degree program in education.

Which was a brilliant policy as well as the licensing exams for teachers

Cos I have so far seen that of
Legon and
UCC release.

I'm yet to see a release from the other public Universities.

KNUST were planning to do a double track but I'm yet to see an official release from them.

What is brilliant about that license?
If you knew the suffering they put them through before writing that stupid licential exams like you wouldn't talk this way.

Their results will be released this month.

You can project power without influencing anyone

Influence & power are sometimes interchangeable or at least they complement each other, influence can be projected through two means co-opt/attraction vs coercion, when one uses attraction & co-opt they're using their soft power while when they use coercion they're applying their hard power

Hard power = using economic incentives or military, eg America banning Chinas goods & practically influencing who can trade with Iran, North Korea... or Russia & America sending their army into west Asia to engage in proxy wars for their benefit.

Soft power = using culture, propaganda, information tech, language to influence decisions, it isn't as effective & it surely takes time to mature eg using movies, music to influence capitalism & other media sources say news agencies to support & further the gay & alphabet agenda, & other world corporate agendas, it has also been used by the US to alienate China by representing them as the new colonial masters.

US unlike the rest of the countries in the world can comfortably use any of the two to their will that's why they're the undisputed world superpower.

vankelvin:

Don't underestimate Russian.

I agree but Russia almost always uses its hard power to influence decisions. That's why she somehow gets overshadowed by the US at every turn, take ww2 for instance, they sacrificed a lot & were the true winners of that war still the victory is almost always claimed by the US.

IGpro1:
no you can't...the US can bomb Kenya by influencing Somalia or Ethiopia. That is influence... Russia has far more influence than Japan...only the Russians were able to put America in check in Syria. Influence isn't about investment in other countries, the UK will have more influence in Africa than the US but they don't. The one who Helps others more, has more influence. The US became the worlds super power after they took over world economy in the early nineties. Every one depended on America.

So, truly, no African country is close to becoming a superpower, when one arises, we will know.

Japan has the soft power, it's Culture is clearly quite influential & on par with the UK, France, Spain, India & South Korea, there are people learning karate to defend themselves or learning Japanese just to watch their Anime & eating raw meat, sushi, just because of Japans influence though America has the edge compared to that group though I mean everyone wants to play basketball, be a rapper, own a Lamborghini, earn them dollars, talk cool in AAVE & be represented in the Disney movies lol Russia has more of the Hard power & can coerce their way if they want to.

When it comes to Africa.

Egypt, Algeria, Morocco & South Africa have the semblance of Military hard power, only South Africa & Egypt can successfully project their power over vast distances though.

South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya & Ethiopia have some of that economic hard power. Though South Africa is over represented here.

When it comes to soft power Ethiopia, Egypt, Nigeria, Rwanda & the swahili states are at the top. For Egypt it's the ancient mysterious culture. For Nigeria the movie & music industry. For Ethiopia it's the historical significance especially in the colonial & post colonial Era they even gave birth to a new religion Jah, I & I. For Rwanda propaganda. For Kenya & Tanzania it's the language, swahili.

Clearly from this excerpt one should expect a list that looks more like this.

Tier 1. Egypt, South Africa.
Tier 2. Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya.
Tier 3. Morocco, Algeria, Rwanda, Tanzania.
