I currently use a Pruis will be 2 yrs next month in Nigerian roads no major fault and I haven’t spent one dime on “the Kazeems” .. had a challenge at first in finding the right mechanic when I needed to do oil change but all that is story now..if you’re very observant you will notice more Pruis cars in lagos roads of recent “don’t they know the battery is expensive? Why are pple Shipping it more into 9ja? Every time I go for servicing I see loads of Pruis Uber drivers there (next time I go will snap) in btw my colleague at work has been using his Pruis since 2016 and only changed 2 battery cells till date.. . I can’t vouch for other Hybrids but Pruis remains a King..

Thanks bro, it's Honda Accord 05 (EOD) it was scanned, and code po122 pops up

That is throttle body position sensor gone bad and the signs you are getting is quite right like Common signs include lacking power when accelerating, rough or slow idle, stalling, inability to shift up, just get a mech first to get a carb cleaner to clean the Throttle body and put it back and test drive, or just get another one.

But there is this VTC that actually throws up this code once in a while. Just try d first 1 out and get back to me

I currently use lexus rx450h, before then I used a prius for 2years, changed a bad cell instead of having to change the entire battery, cost me 15k, should be cheaper now.

To start off with I was asked about my take on hybrid.. And I gave my honest opinion on it based on the maintenance culture in Nigeria.. And I stated that mechanics in the USA avoids fixing them .. Hybrid requires a specialist, and to get the best result is to to the dealership especially if the car is still under warranty... even the mechanics at the dealership themselves have no clue on what they are doing at times ..

Hybrid is quite complex and if you are not careful you can get electrocuted ......... That been said let's discuss the Nigeria factor ........

I dont care what anyone says , nigerian mechanics are not up to the task when it comes to hybrid, you will require certain skill sets and proper tools to diagnose when this things have problems. Getting the right part is another also issue , and most parts in the market are used parts......

You might think your hybrid is fine now no issues etc .. The day it breaks down and you have shell out money to fix , it equal those times that you were enjoying, you now end up paying more in the long run to fix the problem... personally I will not advice anyone to get one based on the reasons given .. Technical skills of Nigerian mechanics is not up there yet ,it is a matter of try and error ....

PS.... And God help you hybrid owners that are using water instead of coolant .. I was told that hybrid cars uses a special coolant ..... Most naija car owners themselves don't read their owners manual... most don't know what they are getting themselves.. You can't be doing patch patch work with hybrid ......Hybrids will humble you ,if you don't take time

Morning guys! Who's up for a CHALLENGE? This time, no one is giving you any thing or any free money but we get to motivate ourselves and get paid at the end of the year. It's quite simple.

The challenge is themed "3K to 1M". You get to SAVE 3K everyday of the year and by December 20, you should have saved free 1M to flex the holidays or pay part payment for a piece of land or do something you really need cash for. THAT'S APART FROM YOUR NORMAL OR REGULAR SAVINGS.

The platform I chose is PIGGYVEST because it's a safe and secure platform, and when push comes to shove, you can always withdraw your money and get paid instantly. I had this idea last year and started but didn't go through with it. This is the beginning of a new year and this is one of my CHALLENGES.

If you are not registered on Piggyvest, sign up with the link below. After signing up or if you are already signed up, search for "3K to 1M". That's the name of the challenge.

PROBABLY at the end of each month we could post dashboards to motivate others since it's real money and not phantom money you might not be able to account for.

The truth is, this is probably going to be a rough and tough journey, but together we can do this.

PS: You get to have free "useable" 1K in your dashboard when you sign up with this link. Let's do this guys!

I love that our mentality that says, "when we get to the river we'll cross it". Me I knon weather I sabi swim or or weather live jacket dey or boat self all I know is I'll cross the river.

Worst case scenario you sell your wahala(the car) to next user.

Owners are selling even normal cars.
Owners are still complaining of mechanics on normal cars

Baba wahala no dey finish abeg... And it will never finish driving normal cars.

I second this opinion because I have had first hand experience.

Nobody is belittling Nigerian mechanics but just stating the facts that there are no enough competent mechanics/technicians for Hybrid cars yet in Nigeria. (see Hvac's situation now he has to sleep in Asaba cos of minor fault and mechanics are still doing tombotombo)

Also our maintainance culture is very bad, we patch/manage our cars, and we change parts only when they are bad, we don't follow required service time...doing that with an hybrid will tell in the shortest possible time and the cost will be catastrophic. Fixing only one cell is patching and you know it. But u are okay cos the car don start. That car cannot charge and discharge properly again and your 'fuel savings' will be going down d drain.

If u have a Prius that's still serving you, good luck to u, (please tell us the MPG/KmPL you get on it) But I will not advise someone to go and buy it, except his pocket is deep.

I don off mic for this subject.

Oga no car dealer in his right frame of mind will just go auction and buy hybrid cars or Prius like dat . Those loads of hybrid Prius are more likely request orders from people that personally wants them ... If you compare the ratio of non hybrid cars to normal cars ,the ratio is very low for hybrids .... And you also stated that you will snap the loads of Prius when next you go for servicing etc..

Me I can snap a picture of cars in the whole of Lagos State only and you will not able to locate any hybrid cars ,na Corolla and big daddy camry u go see. Nigerian car dealer has taken all the Corolla ,camry from the USA , pretty soon Nigerians will be exporting those cars back to USA ,before USA government sanctions the Nigerian government for theft

Please keep in mind those Prius hybrid you see coming into naija are from auction and very cheap ,because nobody buys them.. And most hybrid owners will get rid of their hybrid before it starts giving them issues.. Hybrid battery can last couple of years, so before it expire it is sold at the auction..

We have nothing against your hybrid sir, na maintainence and technical know how of our naija mechanics ..

It depends on how many days. If it is a day, 20-25k is fair considering there is winter already, but let the veterans give their verdicts on the price.
