Visit any hotel in Onitsha especially around the markets and see real camerounian business men coming here to buy big especially anytime the naira depreciates. These are those traders that would have gone to China but find Nigerian goods cheaper with the new exchange rates when they add up all their travel expenses.
wait first ...is not the same Goods dem import from china ....Abi Aba don produce spare parts

Lokoja is a good place to be, just that it lacks good and visionary leader. The city owning to its small size and beautiful terrain should be one of the most developed and beautiful cities in Nigeria. But the reverse is the case, their government is heartless while the people too are not helping things. Things are super expensive (from the view of someone who is based in Ibadan, Oshogbo and some places where prices of goods are reasonably cheap or moderate. One question I couldn't stop asking myself through out my one year stay in Lokoja is how can FISH be expensive in Lokoja (fish o) and be cheap in Ibadan.

All said, Lokoja is very peaceful. No violence no trouble, no fight.. It is just a very peaceful place. In fact, I hardly locked my door both at night and in the day and the thought that someone would sneak in to arm me or steal from me never crossed my mind.

And someone said there is nothing "North" about Lokoja. I agree with this absolutely. I believe Lokoja is more closer to the South (South East, Southwest, South-south) in culture, language than it is to the North. When you're in Lokoja, nothing, except the sun, tells you you're in the North

Which cities in Northern Nigeria are frequented more by visitors? Surprisingly, the north is still attracting investors and generating tourism revenue yearly to the Nigerian government. We have listed five states you may love to visit in the north that are exciting and full of life. We would not bring up the capital city, Abuja because it is unique and definitely not avoided by Nigerians.

Kano

A city known for its commercial activities in Nigeria is Kano. It is the second biggest city in the country and is dubbed the ‘Center of Commerce.’ Kano was named after the legendary Aminu Kano. It attracts hundreds of thousands of people to it including the power figures in the country. It is strategically located and has links to African countries like Cameroon, Niger, Chad and Republic of Benin by road. Its Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport serves both local and international flights. Kano is not lagging behind with hotels that range from budget hotels to luxury five star hotels. A lot of Nigerians aren’t even aware Kano is very beautiful with numerous places to visit. [hyperlink] We have listed some important places you can visit when you are in Kano.

Kaduna

Kaduna is not far away from Kano. It is barely an hour drive from the ancient city of Kano. Kaduna is called the ‘Crocodile City’ and is rich in culture and tourism. There is an even mixture of both the Christians and Muslims. Take away tourism from Kaduna, and you would embrace intellect. There are so many great educational institutions in the city which pulls a chunk of Nigerians to it as students.

Jos

The temperate weather of Jos makes it peculiar among other cities in the north usually associated with harsh weather. The town is relatively peaceful with hundreds of places to visit. Nollywood still loves this place, and once in a while great movies are shot here. Things are not expensive, and there are a lot of expatriates here. With a population of over 900,000 according to the 2006 census, Jos has become one of the biggest cities in Nigeria. Sometimes, it seems like Jos is a city in another country because of its temperate weather and the lifestyle of the people.

Lokoja

Lokoja is the confluence city that brings together rivers Niger and Benue. Today, Lokoja has become a stop-over for travelers coming to Abuja, Kaduna, Kano and other cities in the northern Nigeria. You can feel the friendliness of the people who easily mingle with strangers here.

Makurdi

Finally on our list is the city of Makurdi. It is the capital city of Benue – the food basket of the nation that has become a haven for those who love food as a business or as consumers. There are loads of tourist attractions here for you to see

Arewa is a blessings to Nigeria.
God bless Arewa.
God bless federal republic of Nigeria.
Why are people always counting plateau, Benue and Kwara as northern states?

Lokoja is almost the worst city in the country, it's only investment is possibly the visitors transiting it to abuja

(Not to serve offensive lokoja is the nations biggest public toilet because every passengers would alight to drop their poop or piss before leaving)

Jos can not be qualified as arrewa, northerners there are settlers

Benue cannot be called Arrewa

Kano-Kaduna are the only core Arewa states that have largely spoon feed by successive government in Abuja who always map out these two states first in what ever freebies or handout to be given out. (yet you can't even go from Abuja to kaduna by road, even if you use flight you can't have a peaceful stay without bandits and insecurity)

Only 5 states are safe out of 19 northern states?

No freaking bragging, northern Nigeria has developed a MILLION TIMES more than the south through creation of 19 states in the northern region by northern soldiers. Abuja is also in the north.

Southern Nigerians are yet to understand the bee that stung them through state creation.

Freaking bragging southerners.

I don't know how u made front page. Because your post is obviously shallow and u didn't put enough research into it. Worst, it is misleading, especially were you said Kano was named after Aminu Kano.
And three out of the cities you mentioned are not northern states. So your motives too is questionable

Dear Arrewa,
I like the fact that u are trying to market the North. But rating MAKURDI and LOKOJA ahead of LAFIA to me makes no brain. Lafia is a beautiful city in times of development and tourism.

When did Lokoja, Jos and Makurdi stop being northern cities?

Was the last northern governors forum meeting not attended by governors from Plateau, Benue and Lokoja?

I think he is right Kano is bigger and better than the five state of the east

My reasons are igbos done invest in there father land I wonder what will happen is igbos are been driven out of Lagos

How can you invest in someone land and you think it more safer than your land

Ibo need to wise up
Kano and other core northern states are bigger due to the irregularities poised by the colonial masters....So instead of wondering what's gonna happen if the good people of Igbo are willingly or unlawfully driven out of any land outside the Eastern Nigeria, I guess you should be more worried of the fate of the people and not the Igbos, I have been to the North, West and South and I can categorically inform you all zones need eachother for one thing or the other.....
