edi287: On censorship There's something called reality and they can never run away from it. Just imagine if a rich conservative like Elon Musk buys Twitter today and decides to censor the views of the other side and effectively ban them from the platform. Can you imagine the outrage? Imagine if Buhari takes over Nairaland and decides to remove all anti Buhari posts on the platform and ban you if you don't support his government and policies like China you know. These sheeps celebrating will probably go nuts. These people are pathetic and disgusting. 1 Like |

JESHAL: Your trump lost fair and square in Republican states - Arizona, Georgia, etc. At least the senate runoffs confirmed this. The Republican controlled legislature in Pennsylvania were the ones who approved mailing ballots. All the judges he appointed quickly threw out his "fraud" claims immediately they saw he had no case. You really think we need your state laws? Lol... 6 Likes 1 Share |

edi287:If you opened a Twitter account and simply posted everything Trump has been posted on your account you would have been suspended at least on 4 different occasions. Jack gave Trump more than enough rope. Katie Hopkins was banned for life and she no do reach this one. These Muppets spend their every waking hour mocking the left but how is it that none of these idiots have any platform of note that they can use to continue to propagate their hate and idiocy. You mean the entire right cannot create their own platform? 8 Likes 2 Shares |

A40:Ben Shapiro has been talking about the right having their own social media platform or whatever for years but they still cry over Twitter. Milo Yiannopolus said Twitter was going to fail and was rejoicing yet cried like a baby when he got banned permanently. The problem with most mainstream conservatives is they envy the publicity/numbers their Liberal counterparts get. That's why whenever a Liberal doesn't want to engage them, they start talking about "safe spaces" and what not. Fox News is the biggest News corporation and leans to the right, yet its CNN that these psychos will call "fake news" and not being objective. 3 Likes 1 Share |

JESHAL: Private businesses have the right to enforce their policies in their own domain as long as the said policies do not break any law. Private businesses have a right to refuse services to a customer as long as the customer violates their terms and services. Twitter and Facebook can censor any account deemed to run afoul of their terms. As long as it is not done contrary to the law of the land, they are in their rights. Now, freedom of speech only applies between government and private individuals. You cannot expect a private business to always give you a platform. If you think they broke the law, then court is your remedy. If Buhari used his money to buy Nairaland and then decided to remove anti Buhari posts, then yes, he has the right to do so. Please learn to use logic and research before talking nonsense. 6 Likes 1 Share |

edi287: There's hatred and then there is free speech. US conservatism seems to be similar to all other religious fundamentalists. They are unable to live by themselves whilst allowing other views be. They seem to revel in extreme hatred for the other side, and expect to be able to express that hatred in the name of free speech. The whole problem is that they want to be able to incite violence, perpetuate lies and say things like 'ethnic minorities deserve to die', think this is free speech, and expect it not to be censored. 7 Likes 1 Share |

pompeiimagnus: The courts refused to deliberate on (take up) the cases. Even the Texas case joined by about two dozen states was not taken up the supreme court. The reasoning, at least according to The Honorable Justice John Roberts, is that they have to protect the republic, especially in the charged partisan political climate. The military high command has adopted the same posture. Muriel Bowser, the Democrat Mayor of D.C., called to arm and deploy the National Guard on January, 6: she was rebuffed. Nancy Pelosi called the Joint Chief of Staff, Gen. Miller to get a commitment from the military to not follow Trump's orders going forward. The General told her that's unconstitutional, as he's still the C-in-C until removed by the 25th or convicted after an impeachment. This is not the first time this is happening in US history. During WWII, FDR was unilaterally locking up dissenters including Japanese-Americans, German-Americans, and anyone who was bold enough to call out his abuse of executive power in internment camps; the Supreme Court refused to take up the civil rights cases. The entire judicial branch ignored all of it. Likewise with Lincoln during the Civil War. The issue with this approach is exploitation. Eventually, a punitive cynic will use all of these precedents, and as I've said repeatedly, the results will not be funny. George W. Bush railroaded the entire country into a st*pid war in Iraq using similar precedents, how did that turn out? At least that was in another person's land. The next wouldn't. Look how far no-filter Trump got and he didn't even have to start a war. People forget that it was the communists (leftists) that overthrew the German Empire. Then they became authoritarian cracking down against any dissent including the nascent Nazi party and even succeeded in throwing Hitler in jail. That was until their fortunes changed, the Nazi party began to rise as the people grew weary of the communist vindictiveness and authoritarianism while their standard of living continued to dwindle, and the communists were forced to share power. The communists (Weimar republic) fate was sealed with the Great Depression in the US of 1929. The economic distress reverberated across the world and Hitler capitalized on it. Within a few years the same populace that applauded his arrest lauded his complete takeover. Guess who he started his Purge with: yes, the leftists. Took my time to explain to you because you asked politely. -Lord 1 Like |
