giles14: Yeah its a light weight multirole fighter jet in its class, cheap to maintain and has a single engine ...etc. But the facts still remains its used for multiple roles, including interception, ground attack, anti-ship, and aerial reconnaissance. 1 Like |

marvin906: They are all in the same class, but the Yak-130 is not. It is a trainer aircraft. |

Maduabuchi was sentenced for killing the adjutant of his unit, one Lieutenant Babakaka Ngorgi. Trooper Maduabuchi was arraigned for murder after shooting Lieutenant Ngorgi in July 2020 at close range in Bama Local Government of Borno State for refusing to grant him a welfare pass. Mohammed Kudu killed a 12 year old Nigerian with a promising future, and he just got handed a petty 4 years..Tells you everything you need to know. Why isn't Mohammed going to the stakes,so he gets fired at, same way Maduabuchi would be fired at? Well, no sympathy for a Nigerian soldier, irrespective of his tribe. Maduabuchi would shoot at unarmed Nigerians, if given the orders to perpetrate such evil. illumined: |

giles14:the Tejas, FA-50 and Yak are in the same class as the BAE hawk not the Gripen.... Get your facts in order before spewing nonsense |

kabe1:Tejas and JF-17 are asub match 2 affordable light multi role aircraft in direct competition with each other the FA50 and Yak are trainer/light attack aircraft .... Neither of these are in the same class as the Gripen. 1 Like |

bidex111: You guys are just making the issue more complicated for him to understand. Yak 130 is an Advance trainer aircraft that can also be used in light attack operation (secondary role). The light attack capabilities of the yak-130 is just a secondary role. Yak-130 is in the same class as L-15, M-346, T-50 golden eagle, etc. Jf-17 is in the same class as gripen and tejas as light multi role fighter aircraft. |

iblawi:by definition yes however the JF17 and Tejas are direct competitors with each other, not really competing with the Gripen which is direct competition to the F16. 1 Like |

iblawi: Sir there is a big deference between an advanced trainer/light attack and a "light multirole fighter jet" !.. Now before we argue further go check what a multirole fighter jet his ?. And a light attack aircraft ? |
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by iblawi(m): 8:08pm On Jan 12, 2021 |
jln115: What are you taking about? F-16 and mig 29 are classified as medium multirole fighter jets Do you know the jet better than the manufacturer? Gripen JAS-39 (C/D) is a light attack aircraft Gripen E/F that was compared in some ways with F-16
|
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by iblawi(m): 8:23pm On Jan 12, 2021 |
bidexiii: I only expanded on what you said earlier Fighter jets are just in three categories: 1) Light attack fighter jets (gripen, tejas, jf-17, FA-50, etc) 2) Medium fighter jets (F-16, MIG 29/35, J-10, J-11B, etc) 3) Heavy fighter jets ( F15, Rafael, eurofighter typoon, SU-30/35, etc) But to answer your question Multirole aircraft is as simple as the name ( ability of the jet to be used for different roles in combat). Their are fighter jets that are not multi-role such as bombers and interceptors. I believe the F-7 is an interceptor. Even the heavy and medium fighters can still be multi-role fighters. 1 Like |

iblawi:There is less than 2 ton difference in weight between the F16 and Gripen and in terms of length and wingspan they are very similar. Also how can the Gripen E be similar to the F16 and not the Gripen C?..... They are almost identical in size? Just the payload of the E is around a ton higher |
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by iblawi(m): 8:51pm On Jan 12, 2021 |
jln115: That's why the F-16's payload capacity is 7700kg while the gripen payload capacity is 3400kg more than double the size of weapons that can be carried and will still attain the same speed as the gripen You don't have a point. Hope you see the difference in the weight? 1 Like

jln115: 5300kg payload not 3400kg sorry. That's still the range of JF-17 thunder ⚡ Maybe the jf-17 is also competing with F-16 as well just look at the weight, length and wingspan too. You just like wahala. 4 Likes

Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 10:27pm On Jan 12, 2021 |
marvin906: The Gripen C/D model, JF-17 Block II, FA-50 and Tejas are all categorized as light weight fighters because of the lower weapons load they carry, single engine and less powerful than the ones used in the F-16, J-10. The YAK-130 is a trainer aircraft, it's used to train fighter pilots, but can also perform light attack like the Alpha Jet and L-39. |
