are you saying 800k can get a clean danfo

I don't know, I don't deal in vehicles and the one I bought is not danfo, because of the peculiarity of passenger choice in my area.

I don't think so

My Brother, there are still honourably people on this planet, by divine help I have made strategic decisions with some, I have had my own share of woes in the business world, but I never give up on finding the right person for the Job, we create our realities not by occasional failures but by the persistence of learning and trying again.

You see this depends on where you stay? Here in my place, you should be looking at #750,000 bkos of the demographics things are not expensive here and auto delears deal directly from Benin republic, so they buy the vehicle at 450 or so and sell at 700 while the 50K takes care of contingencies and the clearance.

Drivers license will be taken care of by the driver, while you take care of vehicle particulars until he remits as agreed that's if you would want to give over the vehicle.

But your location seriously informs cost. But the beautiful thing is if done right you have nothing to worry about as regards profit.
Who does the maintainance?

Driver dishonesty is the biggest problem.

Nigeria is very dishonest society.
One nigeria is a failure.

Daily operational maintenance is done by the driver, which is mostly the case.

Exceptions on when you come in, is if there's a major fault in the vehicle that the driver cannot handle through his weekly collection, this seldom happens if the driver is diligent, except by an act of God grin

I'll simply put a male in charge. My dad perhaps
He might be of help.

I'll simply take up the work of a CEO. Dad might actually have to turn employee for my sake now.

I think you should give it a try. A very lucrative business
The disadvantages stated here are just too much to bear alone embarassed

Regardless, I'm going into it. "wink

Good, Lols but seeing through the entire process is also the business of the CEO, and also managing outcomes and challenges. May God give you the wisdom to succeed.

@op, it's a lucrative business, but it can turn otherwise, if:

You don't have a good driver.
You don't service regularly (eery 3 weeks is advisable)
Depends on the route that the road is plying

Op, don't mind anyone telling you that the bus is 1m...to clear the bus alone is 500k, shipping is not less than 300k, cost of purchase is not less than 700k...most buses comes from Europe And unfortunately at the moment there are limited number of goods that you can load in the bus, so Op tell me how it is possible to get a tokunbo bus for less than 1.5million naira bearing in mind that you still need 250 to 300k for body works, registration, painting etc......

Transportation business is high risk especially if you are not the one directly handling and managing it - keke, danfo or uber. It can run you down in a few months into the business.

Nigerian commercial motorists operating on hired purchase arrangements are the worst property managers and untrust-worthy fellows. It's takes grace for you not to commit murder and suicide when dealing with them.

Your best bet is to run it yourself. Keke, Danfo or Uber are all profitable. It depends on your capital outlay to support it. For example,
Danfo is about 950k
Uber Corolla, a very good first grade tokunbo 1.2m
Keke is about 750k.

I have known some acquaintance who started from Keke and added danfo in a few months.

The issue with danfo is the stress, not everyone doing uber can do danfo. as regards the stress "agbero" wahala. If u are not the troublesome type, you are going to find it difficult, troubles from passengers, agberos, name it, it will frustrate you, but that's if you are driving it yourself.
First grade Toks uber Corolla for 1.2m. The registered of 1.2m will be having one issue or the other. Kindly reconfirm your price

IF YOU ARE NOT DRIVING IT YOURSELF “ DONT EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER VENTURE INTO TRANSPORTATION BUSINESS” there is money in it no doubt.

If you give it out for people to drive it for you within 6month you will so hate the idea of buying it in the first instance. DONT GET BURNT please!!!! Nigeria is hard already don’t give yourself extra headache.

If you are driving it yourself go ahead and buy it, you will make your money!!!

But,that is a cool cash business.

Hmmm....looking at the fruit before planting the seed is a recipe for total failure. My dear. Do things you have a passion for. Things you can continue 'in sickness and in health, till death do you part'. Nothing. I repeat nothing in life lies at the end of a straight line.

Transportation business is very lucrative, having done one before. It earns you money daily.

However your location (place of business) should inform your returns. In the North it's 20K per week, extreme cases 35K per week for town service but in Lagos its almost twice for a small 14 seater bus, maintenance cost should be on the driver, except for Major changes like engine...

Having said that, the main challenge is finding a reliable driver who would maintain and remit as agreed. So I will advise that you buy the vehicle, do clearance, get it road worthy and up the vehicle for a premium I.e if you spent 1 million for everything, bargain for 1.7 Million in return for a period of 1 year on the driver, this way he pays about 33K weekly for a year and the vehicle turns his. That way he sees the vehicle as his and treats it with extra care, while you make a 70% profit on the business far above 13.4% the inflammation rate in the country.

More importantly is the type of vehicle you purchase, 700K should get you a clean tokumbo with perfect engine, again here you need the help of a good mechanic and auto dealer.

As per government clearance, that's cheap and easy.

700k first of all cannot get you a toks danfo. You should be looking at 2m for a clean toks. Apart from that every other analysis is on point.

DON'T DO IT, DON'T DO IT , DON'T DO IT.

Hello, men in the house.
I'm planning on investing some money into the danfo business world.
But,I still haven't gotten any tangible info from most of the researches I've made.

I know there are a lot involved in it but, I want to know roughly, the total amount of money one needs to hold on to, before venturing into the business.
With the purchase of the bus, maintenance and perhaps government clearance.
Can a million naira be able to possibly get all this things sorted out??

For a fact I won't be the one driving it, how much returns do you think the driver should drop for me everyday?

Candid advice needed.

This is so discouraging. I know for a fact they'll surely try to cheat me cause of my gender.
Badly want to go into the business but,the disadvantages are too high.
I'll advise you to buy a car and venture into uber if you like transport business. And the most important factor for success in transport business is that you drive it yourself. Yes, drive your car or danfo by yourself.

The next most important factor is that you get a direct tokunbo vehicle (car or danfo). If you get a Nigerian used vehicle, you have already failed before you started.

Let me talk further on danfo business:

Except you're a military personnel, do not go in danfo business. 99.9% of the time, your drivers will cheat you and you'll end up selling the bus for a fraction of what you bought it. I know the 5k returns per day sounds tempting but trust me you will never receive it. If you receive it today, you will spend 10k tomorrow on the bus. All your money will go to mechanics for repairs and the rest will go to your drivers (by cheating you) and to the police (to settle cases with dubious drivers). All you will get is stories and high blood pressure.

I did the business in Lagos in 2014 and I will not even advise my enemy to go in it (except he or she will drive it by themselves). If you like peace of mind, avoid danfo business.

My opinion is, Do not go into it. A word is enough for the wise.

@Stacy I’m also thinking of starting a transportation business and I’m a female. I think the most important thing is to get someone you trust to drive the Danfo....Even if you are a woman they can still listen but you need to become like Margret Thatcher and be a Iron Lady.

That will never happen. Just stay away from Danfo business if you can't drive it yourself, else you could collapse from high blood pressure.

Anty/brother, there are ten important things you must do to succeed in transport business:
1. Don't try it cos it wil put you in agony
2. Don't even dream of it. It's demonic venture.
3.Don't ever remember it.
4. Don't imagine starting it
5. Don't even ask for public opinion on whether to start it
6. Don't venture into it
7.Don't waste your money in transportation business
8 Don't visualize it, its a spiritual business
9.Don't go near any one encouraging you to star transport business
10. Hate with perfect hatred any one telling you you can become richer in Eko transport business.

Copy and paste this formula in your dairy

If nigeria was more honest society than this, tens of billions of dollars more would have entered the country's economy yearly from those in abroad to do business in nigeria.

But if you send any money to start any business now in this very dishonest society, the money is gone.

But it is a a venture feeding tens and tens of thousands in Lagos and probably a couple of millions round the nation. Hard to consider that every single one of them is occultic and demonic as you portray. I think this is a. Classic case of 'elephantiasis'. That is the ironic description of a big challenge from divergent perspectives of which you have chosen the tail.

Only three things you require to succeed in anything on earth from any starting point: passion, knowledge and fortitude. Period.
