5300kg payload not 3400kg sorry. That's still the range of JF-17 thunder ⚡

Maybe the jf-17 is also competing with F-16 as well just look at the weight, length and wingspan too.

You just like wahala.

Stop arguing with that clown, he is bored.

The Gripen C/D model, JF-17 Block II, FA-50 and Tejas are all categorized as light weight fighters because of the lower weapons load they carry, single engine and less powerful than the ones used in the F-16, J-10.

The YAK-130 is a trainer aircraft, it's used to train fighter pilots, but can also perform light attack like the Alpha Jet and L-39.
you should include the F16 then as well wink

the heat produced during combustion has downgraded the armoured steel.
Can the steel be used -Yes
But as an armoured steel- no .

Factually incorrect. this level of combustive heat, does not and can never downgrade steel to the point of un-recyclability.

Armored steel is made just like every other type or grade of steel. Iron, coal, STEEL SCRAP and other minerals are fired and melted in a furnace to create molten steel. This molten steel is poured and rolled into slabs of chemically-similar material at consistent width.
These slabs are allowed to cool and further re-heated and rolled under a mill to a lesser thickness and then cut into various length while still hot and then allowed to cool again.
Armored steel is further pressured and tempered to increase the hardness, hence you get better ballistic protection for the same thickness
Armored steel is further subjected to additional treatment and pressure if the chemical properties are not exactly right.
Each Armored steel plate is tested for ballistic integrity by making an incision to excise a piece of the plate for microscopic testing.

LOCAL CONTENT DEVELOPMENT: NAF PARTNERS CAVERTON HELICOPTERS FOR LOCAL MAINTENANCE OF ITS AIRCRAFT, CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT OF PERSONNEL

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is set to partner Caverton Helicopters in the areas of maintenance of its rotary wing aircraft, capacity development of its engineers, technicians and pilots as well as software support. This is imperative as part of the NAF’s continued efforts to ensure adequate and increased serviceability of its aircraft to boost the tempo of its air operations to tackle insurgency and other forms of criminality in the Country.

The partnership is also in tandem with the Presidential Executive Order No 5 for development of local content in science, engineering and technology. This was revealed today, 12 January 2021, by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, during his visit to Caverton Helicopters Limited in Ikeja, Lagos. The CAS, who was accompanied on the visit by some Branch Chiefs, Commandant Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command and other senior officers, was warmly received by the Chairman Caverton Offshore Support Group, Mr Aderemi Makanjuola and other senior Management Staff of the Company and conducted on a tour of the new Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Facility as well as the Caverton Aviation Training Centre.

Speaking further during the visit, the CAS, while noting the critical importance of partnerships between the military and the private sector, especially when a Country is fighting war, stated that Caverton Helicopters had grown in leaps and bounds since the last time he visited the Company’s facilities in Port Harcourt. He noted that the NAF would benefit immensely from the Company’s expansion in the area of training and maintenance of its helicopters. He further noted that fighting a war was not just about bullets, bombs and rockets but required the participation of all segments of the society, including the private sector. According to him, “when a country is fighting war, all hands must be on deck to succeed and ensure that the Nation is secured and the people can pursue their legitimate aspirations without fear”.

Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized that capacity building could also be boosted through such military-private sector partnerships. He disclosed that Caverton Helicopters is one of the indigenous Companies that the Service was keen to partner with, especially for the maintenance of NAF aircraft such as Agusta Westland 139, Bell 412 and Agusta 109 Power Helicopters. “I am also very excited that we can benefit from training. Training is a very important area that we are very interested in because we believe that the human being is the most important resource and that human being cannot function effectively if he/she does not have the right knowledge or skills”, the CAS said. He further disclosed that the NAF would immediately start sending technicians and pilots for simulator training at the Caverton Helicopter Level D Simulator, once completed.

Speaking further, Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted that the NAF, in collaboration with Sister Services, was working round the clock to tackle insurgency and other security challenges confronting the Nation. According to him, his visit to Caverton was part of the fight against insurgency. He emphasized that fighting to ensure that Nigeria is secured, was not only a military affair but a collective responsibility. He noted there was a disconnect between the military and the private sector, which, he said, would need to be bridged. He said NAF and Caverton would put together a joint team to take the partnership to a higher level by quickly working out modalities to operationalize the various areas of collaboration.

While welcoming the CAS, Mr Makanjuola stated that Caverton Helicopters, a 100 per cent indigenous Company, has many things to thank the NAF for; one of which, he said, was the fact that many retired NAF officers were now working with the Company. He noted that in recognition of the immense contributions of the NAF to the security and development of the Nation as well as the areas of convergence in terms of training and maintenance requirements, he felt that Caverton Helicopters, with its team of competent hands, has a lot to offer the NAF.

The Chairman further stated that, in the area of training, the Company has very strong national content development strategy. He disclosed that the Company invested in the first full flight Helicopter Level D Simulator in Africa, which, he said, is expected to be completed in March 2021. He noted that this would ensure that all simulator training is done in Nigeria, thereby saving foreign exchange whilst also generating revenue by attracting clients from Europe and other parts of Africa. He remarked that the areas of training collaboration include type-rating courses, recurrency training as well as search and rescue training, amongst others. He said the Company would also be offering type-rating training for the engineers. The Chairman promised that the Company would work assiduously with the NAF to ensure that everything the Service requires to succeed is provided and delivered with utmost urgency and transparency.

Highlight of the visit was the tour of the Caverton MRO Facility and Aviation Training Centre as well as the 139 full flight Helicopter Level D Simulator.

no mind toju200, he thinks because gripen is from Europe and JF-17 from sino-pakistani factories, the Gripen must be better.
And if you look at the to two airframes the Gripen looks slicker, so his mind is on that.

I don't care where its built or how it looks.... I simply go by stats.

The Gripen has the highest sustained and instantaneous turn rate of any fighter, as well as the highest AOA of any fighter in the world.

Secondly the Gripen has the lowest rcs of any none stealth fighter in the world.....combine this with one of the best avionic suites in the world its no surprise that the Gripen has beaten the likes of Rafael, Euro fighter and F16s in exercise red flag.

Also the payload for the Gripen is 7200kg vs 4600kg for the JF-17, 8 hard points vs only 7 for the JF-17, top speed mach 2 vs mach 1.6, Gripen also has a better climb rate, better radar, higher Gload(+9/-4 vs +8/-3).....should I go on?

The Gripen C/D and JF-17 Block 2 are the exact same, with each aircraft counter acting each other.

Both aircraft have similar flight characteristics and payload.

Your points actually make the gripen better than F15, eurofighter typoon, Su35 and Rafael. Kudos.

Post any prove to show gripen has payload of 7200kg.

I've posted mine earlier you can add the loaded weight of 8500 + 5300kg.

Mind you, we are comparing the jf-17 block 1 info and not block 2.

Block 2 might even have slightly higher payload than block 1

The Gripen is the best WVR fighter.... So yeah it would make it better in that instance than the Rafael, Euro fighter, Su35 and F15..... Its also downed Rafael and Euro fighter during exercise red flag..... What it lacks compared to the aircraft you mentioned is deep strike capability.

Also the max take off weight of the Gripen C is 14000kgs...empty weight is 6800kg..this is according to SAAB btw!! Thus max payload is 7200kgs

wrong info again.... Max speed of the Gripen according to SAAF and SAAB is mach 2.....also according to the Thai Air force the G load is +9/-4

Other things that are wrong.... The R Darter isn't integrated with the Gripen inly the A Darter... Also linkZA is the data link integrated with SAAF gripen, payload is also wrong since the payload of the Gripen is 7200kg

How can you call jf17 a light attack jet.
Its a multirole fighter jet and its supersonic

The yak 130 is an advanced flight and tactical combat trainer and light attack aircraft.

Them no be mate in all combat situation!
I call it light based on engine thrust. Same with tejas and gripen.

That's why the F-16's payload capacity is 7700kg while the gripen payload capacity is 3400kg more than double the size of weapons that can be carried and will still attain the same speed as the gripen

You don't have a point. Hope you see the difference in the weight?
i believe the combine engine thrust also determine aircraft class.

NO, the Gripen NG has 10 weapon stations, it's not a light fighter. more in the same class of an F-15QA.
