Smoke55: See we come back to the same shameless hypocrisy you Igbos are known for. Why don't you lead by example then? You are shamelessly living in every corner of the nation and profiting from "one Nigeria" yet you confused and hypocritical people remain the most vociferous seccesion noisemakers with your insincere and fake allegation of "they won't let us go". Why not all down tools today and move to the SE to begin your clamor for secession from there? If you got Biafra today what happen to the millions of Igbos dispersed across Nigeria whose host will surely demand they leave? Truth is Igbos are not doing anything that demonstrates they genuinely want their own nation beyond noise and blame game against others. Igbos don't want to leave the land of others. Fact. You are insincere people who just enjoy playing victim and guilt-tripping other Nigerians as is your ways. If not you all should go back to the SE. Rich, poor, male, female. Leave and show you are committed to Biafra beyond words and blackmail against others. 8 Likes 3 Shares |

kettykin:They assumed attack at Western was attack against southern Nigeria. Awolowo was Pro South, Akintola was sidelining with North. The coup was to establish Southern Nigeria supremacy by taking power from the North and put in the hand of a popular Southerner. Obviously they learnt it late including Ojukwu that thought Obasanjo should make it easier for them to declare Biafra in Lagos. The main problem of the coup with Ifejuana error. He was the one with other ideologies than what the plotters had. He single handedly made the coup look like an igbo coup. Another problem was handling or allowing ironsi to take over, it was so ignorant of them to allow another ibo to take power considering what the sentiment will meant. 1 Like |

You have a problem with Igbos who are constitutionally enjoying the dividends of "One Nigeria" by living in every part of Nigeria and maximizing all the opportunities they can find to create a sustainable environment to thrive in all spheres of human endeavor. God punish you there! bitter miserable bastard, the Igbos will continue to fuvk you economically and as long as Nigeria remains one you will always wake up every morning to the frustrating sight of Igbos buying up all your lands and sending your broke ass into the slums of poverty from whence you came . Use all those toxic energies you use on Igbos who don't even care a care in the world about your pathetic existence to focus on your Fulani brothers who are butchering you pigs all over the SW, and using your ugly women as intimacy gadgets with their uncircumcised gbolas . The same way you have historically hounded and harassed Yorubas and their leaders non-stop is how I will lead the charge here to be a pain in the azz to you hypocritical and devious lot. Only difference is, whereas all you guys do is lie against Yorubas, I will be exposing the truth about you guys and your fake, bigoted and tribalistic lives with proven facts and verifiable occurences. Next we will talk about your canonization of Ojukwu the egotistic, vainglorious and bloodthirsty hypocrite who led millions of Igbos to their death over secession from Nigeria only for him to run to lead the same Nigeria later. Only an Igbo can do such a thing because shame is not in you lot's DNA. I would then want to know why Igbos, same people who exalt Ojukwu like a messiah, passionately hate Awolowo, Adekunle and other Yorubas who were just patriotically serving their nation. You continue the trend today with your senseless and unjustifiable hatred of Tinubu, Osinbajo Sanwo Olu, Fashola, Gbajabiamila etal. You lot will now get a dose of your own medicine shoved up your throat when the mood takes me. 1 Like 1 Share |

There were 4 Premiers of the region's (Akintola in the West, Sardauna in the North Osadebey in the Midwest and Okpara in the East) of the 4 Premiers 2 were Igbo speaking but only the non Igbo Speaking Premiers Akintola and Sardauna were Murdered in their houses by Igbo speaking Soldiers in an Army with an Igbo Chief of Staff Gen Ironsi If it had happened in the West Gen Ironsi would have been Politely asked to resign Doesn't that just show that Gen Ironsi failed in his duty to Protect the non Igbo Premiers and Prime Minister (Sardauna, Akintola and Balewa) as well as he had protected the Igbo speaking Premiers Okpara and Osadebey ? Gen Ironsi had even not adequately protected his own mainly non Igbo Senior Officers who were all killed by his Igbo speaking Soldier's. Everybody should just confess their Sins and ask forgiveness and Mercy We Nigerians must tell each other the Truth so reconciliation and healing can be genuine. So we can learn to love and Trust each other irrespective of Tribe It was Gen Ironsi who arranged for the Prime Minister of Cyprus to be with Okpara while the Coup was going on as a fake excuse for the Coup Plotters not to attack the Premier of the Eastern Region. The Prime minister of Cyprus had wanted to visit Kano but Gen Ironsi instead had instructed the Pilot to fly Makarios to Enugu knowing fully well there was to be a Coup the next day According to the British declassified documents Makarios was surprised to find himself in Enugu visiting Okpara instead of Kano where the Emir whom Makarios had already informed he was coming was already waiting for him. Be rest assured Gen Ironsi was part of that Coup he was the head of the Army Capt Oji who was one of the Plotters and also Gen Ironsi's Kinsman from Umuahia and Major Obienu were keeping Gen Ironsi fully informed on the Coup plans. Nzeogwu didn't know he was being used by Gen Ironsi and Ojukwu They already knew they would hijack the Coup after Nzeogwu and others had Murdered the Prime Minister and others Gen Ironsi didn't lift a finger to help Lt Col Pam when he phoned him as he was being taken away to be killed. When Pam's Wife Elizabeth later confronted Gen Ironsi for being part of the Coup that Murdered her Husband Lt Col Pam, Gen Ironsi said nothing. Go and read " Let Truth be told by "David Muffet Ojukwu was in Kaduna when Ademulegun and Sardauna were Murdered Sodeindes wife even saw Ojukwu on the stairs of Ademulegun house talking to Soldier's after Ademulegun had been killed Ojukwu didn't get back to his battalion in Kano till 8am that morning it is also in the British declassified documents. Ojukwu's Hausa Soldier's knew all this hence the bitterness of the revenge Coup of July Gen Ironsi deliberately tried to cover up all the information while he was in Power because the Northern Soldier's would have finished him immediately they found out that Gen Ironsi was part of the Coup that killed their Leaders That was why Gen Ironsi wasn't Courageous enough to even announce the deaths of the Murdered Officers for months 9 Likes 1 Share |

Christistruth00: These are serious allegations. Do you have corroborating evidence like an nterview with the Cyprus Prime Minister or anything indicating Ojukwu and Ironsi planned the coup and used Nzeowgu. Nothing of this was mentioned by Major Adewale Ademoyega; one of the 3 major planners in his book. Ojukwu being at that location is probably after the fact; especially since you said it was AFTER the killing. Any interview showing what Ademelegun's wife said? 1 Like |

babzo: Prime Minister Makarios and the Emir of Kano Ado Bayero had been good friends since the time Bayero served in the diplomatic service before becoming Emir. Prime Minister Makarios of Cyprus on finding himself in Nigeria for the Commonwealth conference naturally had wanted to visit his friend the Emir of Kano. Gen Ironsi had instructed the Pilot to take Makarios to Enugu instead of visiting his friend the Emir of Kano Any other Story is Gen Ironsi's deliberately crafted propaganda to throw the Northern Soldier's off suspicions of Gen Ironsi being part of the coup 2 Likes |

arantess: The coup was and still is tagged Igbo coup not because of the ethnic composition of the participants but because of the ethnic pattern of the casualties. What on earth explains why no single Igbo politician was killed despite there were more Igbo politicians in top positions than any other tribe in that allegedly corruption ridden government which the coupists cited as reason for their action? Were the Igbos like Azikiwe, Orizu, Okpara, etc saints within that allegedly corruption ridden government? 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Deadlytruth: It becomes even interesting when one consider the FACT that major Okafor, one of the major planner of the coup was himself, corrupt and would have been imprisoned for stealing army funds but for the intervention from his commanding officer, brig. Maimalari. Okafor like other officers joined the Revolution because he wanted to free Nigeria from the corruption and indiscipline of politicians. But four weeks earlier, the Army Legal Officer, Chief Arthur Worrey found Okafor guilty of stealing his subordinates’ funds. The Federal Guards held a monthly raffle draw and social nights (Wassa). The proceeds from ticket sales and lucky dips were recorded in Army Book 64 and saved in the PRI (President of Regimental Institute) account. For months, false figures were recorded as Okafor was stealing this money and giving a fraction as hush money to the treasurer Corporal Magaji Birnin Kebbi, a NCO in his fifties. Unknown to Okafor, Magaji was recording actual figures in his private file. Later Magaji interceded on behalf of a friend and colleague Private Mamman Sokoto at the Motor Transport Section of the Federal Guards who had been overlooked for promotion for four years. Okafor did not honour his pledge to promote the man when the list of the promoted was published. When Magaji went back to Okafor in his office in November 1965, Okafor ordered him to be locked up as he a Major and the OC of the elite Federal Guards did not feel he was answerable to a mere corporal in matters of promotion. Magaji then spilled the secrets. Eventually Okafor was found guilty of stealing his soldiers’ funds. Lieutenant Tarfa who was one of Okafor’s junior officers at the Federal Guards served as Magaji’s interpreter before the panel of inquiry. For Magaji was an old illiterate soldier. Tarfa later wrote in his account that, Okafor was afraid of being severely punished that he appealed to Brigadier Maimalari to help. But then they never knew then that the main reason he was scared of punishment was that he would have been suspended and relieved of his command of the Federal Guards. That would have deprived him of both participating and making the resources of the Federal Guards available to their Revolution. 5 Likes |

Gireiboy: People react based on what they are told until told otherwise or they find new information. Call a man on the phone and tell him, you are sending 1 million naira; he will start rejoicing without seeing you or the money; call another man and tell him his close relative like child, parent or wife is dead ; even though it's a phone call- the man will likely go into instant sorrow even though you may be lying to him. The initial mood in the North was that of rejoicing until the people were presented with an alternative view of things. |
