KelvinCoaster: What is the minimum wage and standard of living in those countries? How many times have the citizens gone on strike because of non payment of salaries? Have you checked their rate of unemployment? You need a small amount of common sense to factor in this index before you open your rotten mouth but I'm.not surprised you lack the common sense. 11 Likes |

From Electricity to Medical care to food to water to Road to transportation to Data to even education we pay for it and some instances we provide for ourselves.....yet we pay taxes from all corners. Most people reading the article dont understand what is happening and make comments out of ignornance Here is the full gist of the article 1.It now costs 183 naira to import one liter of fuel 2. Yet we are paying N163 at the pump for that same liter 3. That means that government is subsidizing fuel to the tune of N20. Per liter At the end of the day it is still a bad decision 1. We can't have good refineries because the money we would have used for refinereis is being spent on subsidies for imported fuel 2. Also, who wants to invest in new refineries and watch his or her profit go because government wants to subsidise fuel. If government was controlling prices for everything, would poeple be able to make profits to fund their businesses? We are buying fuel from Niger. Niger sells fuel at N350. They dont subsidse fuel. At the end of the day they have the profit to pay for the running costs of their refinery. That is why they can sell fuel to us easily, while we canmot export fuel anywhere bwcause we have made it difficult for most investors to come and build refineries for us since they don't want to refine fuel and then sell it at a price below what it cost them to refine it. The truth is this government is too scared to remove subsides. So they lie about removing them...when what they are doing is rasing thw price to a level which they can afdord to keep on subsidizing 2 Likes |
