NafeesaAA: when we see other countries experience with terrorism . i think its only the beguining . when the Nigerian army will crush boko haram in these direct clashes and war . boko haram will move to true terrorism tactics .small, highly mobile groups with light weapons. ambushes on the supply routes , suicide bombings, cowardly attacks on civilians, quick attacks on units and small isolated barracks, kidnapping and rancor ect .. thats why politics should prepare a good strategy for the next step associated with this continious military pressure . a peace agreement and amnesty for example. as it was done in Algeria in 2000's . with some economic projects for boko haram recruiting regions and a work on religious ideology in these regions 11 Likes |

JOSCOFELIX:The idea of using just one helo most times for straffing run isn't the best to me, At least the Mi-35M should always be assisted my one Mi-24 as backup. This would not only inflict maximum damage but also leave traumatic experience a for BH survivors. I see most structures or vehicles left the unscathed by the bomb runs from the videos most times...Pilots of Mi-24 can adapt to NVG's too for maximum all weather strike delivery. 3 Likes |

SamuelAnyawu:Ayam not understanding something Some people on this thread are saying the security agency knew about the attack so they set a trap for ISWAP men. When ISWAP attacked the base in marte, the NA personnel in that base withdrew right? My question now is that is it an army platoon or company that is located in Marte? 2 Likes |

The Nigerian Army is the reason Nigeria will never know sustained development. The politicians know very well that they can deploy the military to crackdown on Nigerians threatening their grip on power, and the soldiers will unleash terror against the Nigerian people. It is patriotism to destroy the enemies of Nigeria' progress. And time has shown the Nigerian Army to be the chief enemy to Nigeria's progress. Is it the duty of the Nigerian soldiers to shoot at unarmed Nigerians protesting for a better country at lekki tollgate? 9 Likes |

If not for air support, the Nigerian soldiers are not better at this fighting thing than these iswap guys. Take out air support, the Nigerian soldiers will be smoked by these iswap terrorists in so short a time. Well, it so happens that iswap aren't unarmed Nigerian protesters. Seeing the iswap videos, they fight hard and dangerously. Good thing they also got killed. I really don't have issues with any of the 2 warring terrorists cancelling themselves. They have both killed lots of Nigerians unjustly. 8 Likes |

illumined:You're wrong bro. Those guys are not better trained than the Nigerian soldiers, that we experience setbacks in some battles doesn't take away anything from the soldiers. We've being pounding the terrorists week in week out with little or no media coverage but whenever the terrorists attack and overrun an isolated military outpost it is overblown by the media. The only thing stoping ISWAP from getting to you are the soldiers, if you can't atleast pray for them to overcome the enemies you can simply look away. 9 Likes |

Whoever thinks the Army will win this war is in for a long long ride. Occasional victories and losses here and there, but decimating iswap militarily? There is no military solution to this situation. Iswap exists today as result of the heavy handedness of the Nigerian Forces. Mohammed Yusuf. And they've actually taught the Army many bitter lessons, like they vowed to. The Army has to, first of all, admit its roles in the evils it has done against various people, down the years to our present day. Apologies wholeheartedly. Set up a truth and reconciliation panel to help bring to justice as many senior officers and men that have been responsible for the Army's many atrocities. Compensate and mourn with the thousands of affected. Enable an internal system that helps the Army purge itself off evil, going forward. When all these are done properly, you are half way into ending insurgency. As the hearts and minds of some of these fighters who have sworn revenge on the Nigerian Army would have been appealed to. Do you really think iswap believe they can defeat the Nigerian Army? They know they can't win this war. And they actually believe the Nigerian Army will never win this war. The plan is to terrorize and exterminate as many soldiers as time would permit, and give the Army something to always take peace away from it. You really think the iswap guys just woke up one morning, then made a vow to teach the Nigerian Army a bitter lesson they will never forget? Nah, Something prompted this vow. And that which prompted it must be addressed. Where there is no justice, let there be no peace. To all those who talk about the acquisition of sophisticated weaponry by the Army, go do your research about the reasons the Americans finally met with the Taliban on the negotiating table. ugo4u: 6 Likes |

The whereabouts of seven police officers out of 15 that were ambushed by bandits along the Birnin Gwari-Funtua road on Friday is still uncertain. However, Daily Trust on Sunday gathered that eight of the officers were rescued. Our correspondent gathered that the 15 officers were travelling from Minna in Niger State to Kano through the Burnin Gwari-Funtua road when they were ambushed by a group of bandits along the Farin-Ruwa junction. The Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressives Union (BEPU) also reported that at least 18 police officers were missing but later stated that two had made contact with family members but were still in the forest. While speaking with Daily Trust on Sunday, the BEPU chairman, Salisu Haruna, said the whereabouts of many of the police officers was uncertain, adding that other officers around Dogon Dawa and other nearby communities had been informed of the incident. A vigilante source in Birnin Gwari confirmed that the eight officers who were rescued were in the custody of military operatives in Maganda, while contact had been made with another police officer within the forest area. Several phone calls and a text message sent to the police command in Kaduna State through the public relations officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, were not answered. https://dailytrust.com/7-still-missing-as-bandits-ambush-police-officers-in-kaduna 1 Like |

Hundreds of civilians have fled their homes in Marte, a community in Borno State, after suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked a military base and raze down public buildings in the fringes of Lake Chad Basin, sources said. It was learnt that the terrorists in their hundreds stormed the recently resettled community in the northern part of the state on Friday evening, shooting from all angles and forcing returnees to flee into the bushes. An official of the Borno State Government told our correspondent that there was a gun battle between troops and insurgents for hours at Marte town on Friday evening. He added that hundreds of civilians slept in the bushes and trekked throughout the night but have started arriving Dikwa town, which is about 25 kilometers away. “It was a disturbing news. We got the sad news last night around 8:pm that the troops have been engaging the insurgents for hours. “As I am speaking to you, hundreds of returnees fled their homes and are taking refuge in Dikwa. “The troops have displayed gallantry but the insurgents came in hundreds, according to information we received. “Our prayers are with the troops,” the source disclosed. A security source also revealed that the insurgents attacked military formations. The source further stressed that, this morning, there was a reinforcement from Dikwa which engaged the outlawed group but the details are not available as of the time of filling this report. However, unconfirmed reports stated that insurgents may have overran Marte last night. It would be recalled that on 1st December, 2020 the State resettled 500 households, comprising 2,870 returnees after six years in exile. https://dailytrust.com/civilians-flee-homes-as-troops-battle-insurgents-in-borno-town |
