Landing Story So I booked my flight for the 18th of January with Ethiopian Airline
I had my covid test with synalb on the 15th of January (72 hrs before my flight), got the result the next day at night
Nigerian Airport
I got to the airport 4 hours before my flight and I joined the queue to check in, they asked for my passport, ticket, enrollment verification letter, covid test and a photocopy of my passport data page(I had to print this at the airport because I didn't have it). It took them almost 30 minutes to confirm my enrollment verification because for some reason, the person at the counter wasn't convinced. After document verification, my passport was scanned then i proceeded to the counter where they weighed my bags (24kg and 25kg but they let me go). They didn't open my bag at any point or ask me what I was carrying.
After checkin, they gave me 3 boarding passes for all my connecting flights. I moved on to board. There were two or three other security checks (my passport was stamped at one of these points). I passed through all the checks and then waited to board my flight. My first flight was from Lagos to Ethiopia
Ethiopian Airport After landing at ethiopia, I went though the usual security checks, just showing my boarding pass and my passport. However, at the final check, I was stopped. They told me that my covid test had expired so I couldn't move on. I explained to them that on Canada's website, what was stated is that the test should be within 72 hours of boarding my first flight, which it was. They told me to stand aside while they confirm. After about 15 to 20 minutes, they came back and told me that I was good to go.
Toronto Airport I went through immigration. At the first step, they asked for my covid test, arrivecan and declaration card (they'll give you this on the plane. They also gave me a covid form on the plane, but no one asked me for this. At the second point, I was asked if I was here to study, I said yes and they asked me for all my documents (they didn't specify which ones). I gave them my letter of introduction, proof of enrollment, admission letter, tuition receipt. I had proof of funds but I didn't show it and I wasn't asked for it. I waited a few minutes and my study permit was issued.
I then went to baggage claim, picked up my two boxes and then went to board my next flight. On the way, I dropped my two boxes at the checkin for my next flight to edmonton.

I applied October 19th but eligibility review started Nov 30 but I have requested for my gcms note on jan 2. I have also started my class online. I’ve been sending mails and raising webform every now and then. We can only send mails, pray, hope & wait. IRCC dey do as they like with that NSE of a thing. Celoexpress: But they did not even ask me to submit NSE requests and I applied on October 5. I'm just tired. Had to send MBS certificate two days ago just to fasten it. Requested for gcms on december 29, still waiting for that too and I have resumed as well. What are you doing about yours? I'm tired of waiting, I would have sent IELTS if I had but I only got MBS. I'm considering sitting for IELTS sef even though they did not send me NSE request. Wondering why they did not send some October applicants NSE request.

When I see people saying they will out money in their account and remove it while their application is still active I just laugh. A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE. Queenmama03: Msc finance in usask is a very competitive course. Your GMAT score must be really high forget that 500 aim for 650 upwards. Have you taken GMAT? If not that should be your next step. Also check the deadline I'm pretty sure they have stopped accepting application for September 2021. I know this because Msc finance was my first choice and I did my research properly. But please still go though the university website. Every information you need is there.

Good evening house, I have been a silent reader on the platform for sometime now, my study visa was denied today and I need to know if I should just forget about it or take a chance at reapplying. Mine is a serious case, so please I urge you to read to the end.
1. In 2018, my student visa to the US was not only denied, I was banned on the grounds of material misrepresentation. ( I competed this application by myself). Statement of account ish.
2. In 2019, my study visa to Canada was refused based on ‘Purpose of visit, travel history, Personal asset and financial status, limited employment prospects, documentations that lacks authenticity and lastly failure to declare previous refusal and enforcement action. (This application was completed by an agent and in all honesty I explained the past history to him in details, but apparently he did not provide enough details )
3. In 2020, a friend (in Canada) encouraged me to reapply, that he has handled such cases before bla bla bla and all. He suggested that I apply to a college “cos that was what he also did” and it would be easier for me to pay complete tuition . In short, I was denied based on ‘ purpose and of visit, personal asset and financial status, that I have truthfully answered all questions asked, and proposed study not reasonable.
Documents submitted for the Dec 2020 application
Full tuition payment Receipt 17k cad My bank statement of 10M with inflow of 25m over 6months (personal account) CAC document Survey copy Work ID card Car ownership cert LOE addressing previous concerns.
I already ordered Gcms for this and the previous application. So please guys, let me know your thoughts. |

oyebode11: Good Afternoon House
I'm looking to apply for a Master's Programme in Canada. But before I begin the process I'll like to know if Canada does Extensive Immigration/ Background check for Student visa applicants. I don't have a Criminal record in Nigeria. But I had one in the Uk and was also deported a few years ago. If I don't state that I have traveled to the UK. Would Canadian immigration find out about my Criminal record and Deportation? Hello Oyebode11, You should want to come clean here. Don't act smart with this guys even if sometimes they have lapses. Your application should be crystal without any minute dent, especially that which concerns your UK immigration information. You will be needing a very good letter of explanation to help the VO understand why they should have empathy and grant you a visa. You may be surprise to see how tables turn in real life, because some few people have had the table stopped to their favour. Transperancy is what your application requires! Best of Luck |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by olasubomy: 6:12pm On Jan 21, 2021 |
Zabee0076: Good evening house, I have been a silent reader on the platform for sometime now, my study visa was denied today and I need to know if I should just forget about it or take a chance at reapplying.

Sorry about the refusals, i would suggest you wait for your GCMS note to arrive before re-applying again. Apparently, you had not tackled all the concerns of the VO very well in your re-application and it is a good thing you have ordered for the GCMS notes of the previous applications. Please share with the house once this drops so the gurus in the house can guide you accordingly. it would end in praise. |
