Common sense will tell you that car manufacturers test their engines under every condition imaginable from super cold temperatures to ultra hot temperatures because they expect their cars to be driven everywhere on earth. After extensive test, they recommend suitable oils..

Morons like Sooperrescue think they know better and will start experimenting with people’s engines and knocking them in a bid to make money. That is the reason why cars are driven for 15 years in the USA and engines are sound. They come to nigeria and 1 year after, you start looking for tokunbo engine.:

Read ur manual and stick with manufacturer recommendation. No mechanic in nigeria knows more than Toyota or honda.:

Stop listening to rubbish advise from a small time quack mechanic.. I have been driving cars for 16-17 years now and I have never changed an engine.. simply because I found out about recommended engine oils on time..

I am yet to come across the oil. In the yard where I work, it has not even appeared there. I also have a way to check out its review in the US and I will try to do so. For those of you looking for the best oil with no shortage and performance rating very high. There is Royal purple sold in Nigeria but it is an API SL and so Toyota lovers should take advantage of the season. I will invite the guy to the thread to talk about his product. Royal purple is higher than Mobil 1 but the one available is the API SL variant of 5w30.

oh, so because of that statement of don't listen to this man, you started your tirade. Why don't you go back to the original statement and read if I was the one that made the statement. And there is nothing like wrong recomendations. Car manufacturers never envisaged that a lot of people will ignore their simple recommendations of the use of the oil. The engine flush works very well and it has not been banned in the USA because it was made there for their cars. If there are oils sold locally that suits Toyota and Honda requirements, let us know.

Your 2008 Toyota Camry recommends 5w20 or 0w20 and not 5w30. But you are advised to use the 5w30 if the recommended oil is not available and revert immediately to the recommended oil. One thing that I am always curious about is that Toyota started recommending 5w20 ditto Honda 3 years before Range Rover began recommending 5w20 and many more years before they asked us to be using 0w20. When people are using Mobil 1 extended performance 5w20 on a Toyota, it's like using premium unleaded fuel on a 2007 Camry. The 5w20 recommended for Toyota cars in 2007 is not the same 5w20 recommended for a 5.0 V8 engine of a Range Rover. Waste of money. Someone asked why should royal purple API SL be rated higher than Mobil 1 API SN? For Toyota cars that requires API SL and SJ, the royal purple is very suitable for it than Mobil 1 API SN because though it is backward compatible with the lower specifications, it's better to use the one suitable for the car.

Someone brought some Mobil 1 advance fuel economy engine oil for the next generation of Toyota engines. I am yet to get the price list and I will put his number on the thread soon. The oil is 10000 miles guaranteed unlike most of us who have the belief that Extended performance is good for small engine. Advance fuel economy Mobil 1 is the way to go. A Toyota 2.7 engine cannot use the same oil with a 5.0 Range Rover engine. Don't waste your money on frivolities. Buy the engine oil that is suitable for your car. Our Favoil Engine Oil test will soon begin once my TV crew resume transmission on DStv. The numbers of participants were overwhelming but we only needed 5 motorists. It's time to get rid of overhyped engine oils and use the right one for your engine
