Ghana has about 7-8M household. Only 3-4M are metered or customers of your discos. That basically mean your policy think tanks are smoking whatever you're also smoking.

These things are easy - your population divided by household size - give your total houses or homes - and each ideally should have a meter - connected to the grid. That is universal access.

Obviously there are countries that uses all sort of methodology to define access. India for example - anybody 500m from electric grid has access. Maybe Ghana is using such dodgy methodology.

For you to hit 85% universal access - nearly every hut or slum or cave in Ghana - including deep rural - should be connected to the grid.

And of course it isn't. By the time you're hitting 95% (universal access) it would be nearly impossible to find anybody without any grid.

Ghana metered customers is 4.1MILLION.
Take 4.1 million out of 5.8 million and you will have 1.7 million, Thats the total housing deficit of Ghana.

In and attempt to bridge that gap is the reason why 60% of the population of Nairobi lives in a slum like Eastland and it surrounding associated slums.


Kenya has a long way to go in order to catch up to Ghana in the Quality of Life index, where majority of people can afford to buy or build and life in their own homes which are mostly better than upper class houses in Runda and the likes .

In Accra, one plot is 1/4th an Acre. That is quite big a land size, hence most houses going for sale sits on 1/8th an acre of land
which is enough to build a decent 4 bedroom mansion. The kind that Runda cant afford to build.

At least if Kenya was putting that 100 people on the same plot as a single Ghanaian will use, the housing should be as good as you will find in Ghana.
