Please friend, I have a problem.

My 50 inch 3D TV i have had for 5 years was fine but early last year occasionally made a static sound when the display is dark e.g the cast screen at the end of a movie or when source is changed to a page that has just a blank black display. When the screen is bright, the sound stops.

Now the issue is, I shipped this particular tv to Nigeria in november last year when i moved to nigeria and on arrival, I tried to turn the tv on, but it will flash light and go back off or perhaps it remains on but with no display or backlight (I.e screen appears like when tv is off).

The situation: I took the tv to a local repair man in lagos one morning who told me it was the backlight. He asked me to leave the tv with him and come back in the evening when he must have had it repaired. In the afternoon, I saw him on a bike with the tv at Alaba market. He didn't see me. When I got to his shop in the evening, he told me he had to change the motherboard. Now remember this was a 3D TV. Unfortunately the board he replaced it with, was an ordinary HD tv motherboard. So the tv now works but its lost the 3D capabilities. Its just an ordinary tv now. I was so upset that I had lost the 3D capabilities.

Luckily he still had the 3D motherboard that was removed and gave it to me.

I was just wondering if there was anything that could have been done to repair the 3D motherboard instead of having it changed entirely as the tv worked perfectly before I shipped it.

Also, I have a slightly smaller functional 3D TV that works with the same remote as the 50 inches. I was wondering if I could swap the motherboards so I can get the 3D capabilities back on the big one.

I’m sorry ‘bout your experience boss. As touching the smaller TV board, if they’re same model, it may work and not fully functional, if different models, it won’t work. Same remote works for same brands to some extent, but doesn’t mean they have same boards.

As touching the replaced board, that must have been cos the tech guy couldn’t find the actual board, that other one could be repaired, but would develop same fault and more later.

So, two options, do with the HD board, or be on the lookout for the actual board.

Hello, my bruhm 49 inches TV just stop showing well again. It's dark and the light inside the TV is blinking continuously. The TV is showing but the light inside is not coming up normal. Just blinking continuously. Can it be repaired?

As touching the replaced board, that must have been cos the tech guy couldn’t find the actual board, that other one could be repaired, but would develop same fault and more later.

So, two options, do with the HD board, or be on the lookout for the actual board.

The TV was working perfectly abroad. After shipping it stopped working. So I’m guessing since the TV didn’t get bad in operation it might have been rough handled by the shippers. The repairer told me it was backlight only to end up changing the board. Is it that the backlight for TVs have to come with the board? If I take just the board to another repairer do you think they can solve the problem for me? 3D TVs are no longer being produced, I would not have spent so much to have it shipped if I knew I was going to end up with a normal hd tv at the end of the day.

That was due to electricity.
If TV was roughly handled, it's the screen we'd be talking bout right now boss.

I'm sure the tech guy thought it was backlight, but to find out it was board.

Yea, you can get the appropriate board, but will require serious work and search

just take that 3d board to Westminster or alaba to replace it for you like 20k or less depend on your negotiations skills.only the board not the tv and look fir exactly that box because there is one ic that differentiate 3d box with ordinary box.when they show you both you will see the difference

Those are not just lines bro, it's an internal crack that's damaged the screen. A screen replacement is required.

Blurry vision doesn't connote screen problem, it may be due to faulty cables, or components

When ON, it can go for as long as 1hr or as short as few minutes before tripping OFF and the red light comes on again (standby mode)
Took it to Samsung, they said the model is old and advised to get another TV
Another tech guy saw the issue as Display board related and he couldn't find it online.
Please I need another opinion. personally, I think it may be power board related.

Needs to be diagnosed by a technician to tell what the actual issue may be. Cos lines and blank screen may be screen issue, and we may be wrong
