I live in Dubai and work as a sales man in a general trading supermarket. Firstly, There are some customers especially tourists you mustn't near them to make customer service to them, they will try to be moving away from you as a black African, some will even be like crying but if it is their Indians and co no problem Second was after some few days to week am working in the company. One of the Indian colleague and other started calling me "Kalla" and later added "Kuta" to it. I always vex for them because i dont know the meaning in which i told asked them to call me by my name. All efforts I make to know the meaning none of them tell me b4 I later know that "Kalla" means "Black" while "Kuta" means "Dog" meaning "Black Dog", so i quickly change it for him and fought him. Although they later play with me with it but not every time which I also reply or call them "Geri Kuta" meaning "White Dog" and some of their other abusive words. Another one is always for either Philippine or Nepale ladies, either u are living in same building and u want to use the lift at the same time or the lift inside the metro station or anywhere, because u are black some of them will not enter with you. They will rather let you go first even if u met them on stand. They may even come out for you to go alone. A lots is happening ooo Wetin Musa eyes no go see for gate 21 Likes |

A Caucasian woman fastened her grip on to her purse at the elevator the moment I walked in , while her sister covered her nose stylishly. Another European refused to sell gold to me at the jewelry shop because I was black. Is it the awkward stare you get when you walking into the restaurant to eat. It's a long list, but I don't let that bother me. Especially since I'm just an ordinary tourist. 19 Likes |

Most stories on this thread points to how Nigerian are treated abroad, and not really about race. And I'm not surprised. The corruption and Yahoo yahoo that's plagued the country is enough reason for foreigners to treat us like thieves. We're our very own enemies. 11 Likes |

For most of us living abroad, racism is an everyday experience - something we are already getting used to. Forget what you hear about the USA and how America is a beacon of hope and haven for tolerance and freedom. Racism thrives here, man. Maybe because I am light skinned (dark skinned Africans suffer worse discriminations), but I have encountered racist abuse. Although a few years back, after I migrated, I experienced what I felt was veiled racism. A white friend of mine got visibly annoyed because I toasted a white girl. I didn't know his reasons but I am sure it had to do with racist tendencies in most Americans. In United States racism is more obvious in the southern states than in the northern parts. 8 Likes |

I experienced none in The Philippines. In fact, most of them love black people more than westerners, firstly because the percentage of blacks in Philippines is very low and also they think all black guys are basketball stars so when strangers want to communicate they either call you Jordan or James (with so much excitement on their face). 18 Likes |
