Hi guys,

I had my Bachelors in Electrical Engineering in Nigeria. After NYSC, I worked for a year (not related to engineering but business). I left to have my Masters in Germany. Right now, I want to move to Canada. But I don’t know the best route to use: express entry or through masters studies.

Here in Germany, I have worked in Mercedes (3 months in 2019, 3 months in 2020, I.e 6 months). The job was related to engineering, also worked in Amazon and I had a part time job in a restaurant for 2 years.

Can I use this job experience to apply for express entry?
If the express entry does not work, then I go for the studies route, I think it will be rejected too.

My aim is to get PR after my masters studies in Canada, how easy is it to get PR from studies routes?

Thank you Bro for the info and congratulations.
Was your training with Tobidam online? I need to know how possible an online class can help a complete novice in French.
YES, but live online. Good question, I had same concern then because most online tutors use pre-recorded videos and/or just give you a foreign textbook to teach from and ask you to call/chat/email them if you don't understand well, moreover they do mainly focus on Writing & Reading section which ain't enough.

So I told Tobidam that I was a novice, that how will an online class be effective? They said that they love admitting newbies, that it affords them the opportunity to prove their effectiveness. That if after one month of training, and I can't speak, write, listen and read to be able to pass DELF A1( a French foreign exam for A1 level) that I should stop coming, so I decided to try them of which I was impressed after the first month and continued till the end.

It's actually just like a normal school though online. They use their personally written textbook(my favorite) which made French so much very easy to understand. Also, they will give you a software to install that will make both you and the tutor work together in real time. E.g. if you are doing a class work/assignment the tutor can mark it or correct it on the same screen page that you are working and at the same time you are writing.
They are tech savvy sha and they will help you program everything that it will appear as if you are in a physical class.

Good luck!

Thank goodness for responding to my many questions and for Nairaland because she really needed to hear from another person to be convinced about her decision and thankfully she took the advice given thereby not risking a refusal.

Hello Everyone.
Please I need an advice on how to go about doing my medicals. I am travelling to the UK for my master’s program by February ending and I am expecting ITA soon with (CRS 472), But since there has been no draw of recent, I want to ask if I can do my medicals in the UK while using my Nigeria Bank account as POF and also doing police report in Nigeria before leaving.
Note: No available dates to do medical in February b4 leaving.

Pls read here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/apply-permanent-residence/police-certificates.html

When you go for your Masters, you will be living in the UK and no longer Nigeria. You MUST do your Nigerian PCC AFTER you leave Nigeria to live in the UK.

See here for the person whose wife did her Austrian PCC BEFORE leaving that country to live in Nigeria and read what happened to their application.

Hello, your part time work in Germany as well those you undertook during your internship, NYSC and after NYSC would count as long as they are paid, and fall within NOC A, B, and 0.

I understand your thinking to be considering another MSc in Canada. But what I would advice is for you to start preparing for IELTS asap and think Express Entry. Have in mind that you would need to complete your MSc in Germany and evaluate same in order to have high CRS point that can fetch you ITA. And perhaps seeing through the 18 months post study visa in Germany. As going for another MSc in Canada might be costly (an exception to this is if you don't have age on your side to get FSW EE). You can avoid the international student fees as a PR because you will pay local student fees.

Finally, your Express Entry application won't affect your study application in any way. Each application would be treated on it's on merit. Cheers.

Wow! I hope your friend has his ECA ready though, because that is another delay factor, sadly.

Yes but I'll like to add that while in the pool make an effort to improve your points particularly the language points. A lot of people are interested in this program but seem to misunderstand some points. I'll give an example: A colleague of mine has been keen on applying for this program. He is 31 now and will be 32 in April. He told me about this desperately in august. Till date (6 months later) he is still telling me about how he preparing for IELTS grin as he wants to max it once. He has a masters degree in elect eng and a couple of years of experience but was unaware of the points loss due to age. I brought it to his attention yesterday and he was surprised to hear that. Now hoping that he'll find a test date, ace the test and get an ITA before the april

Good Afternoon All,

I hope the day is ending great?
I have been a silent observer of this thread, and a lot of information passed across has been helpful to me. Helpful enough to get me from IELTS to ITA to AOR to Biometrics. Really Thankful.

However, I have a few issues. Gurus, anyone, in the house kindly help out.

I recently got married last week, and raised a webform on my Registry day, January, 2021, as i had read where someone said it is best to inform IRCC as soon as possible when the marital status changes. I had also initially read that it takes about 5 days for response. However, I am still yet to get a response.

Questions:
1. Is this normal?. Have anyone raised a Webform recently gotten a delayed response like me?.

2. My wife had gone to book a date for her Medicals, 2 weeks ago, and she was given 20th of this month. If IRCC doesn't respond before then, would that count as Upfront Medicals?. Hope there are no issues with Upfront Medical result.

3. My POF was initially for single person. However, my father-in-law gave us a wedding gift which sums up above the Family of 2. We also notarize a gift deed which states that F.I.L is giving us the money out of free will. The Gift has been fixed. We are doing this process to avoid delays when IRCC eventually responds. Is this too forward?.

I am well within my processing times. I recently just did my biometrics 3 weeks ago, after my AOR on Dec 7th.

Out of anticipation for response to provide the marriage documents, I figured out its best to firstly know my Visa Office. I had sent a mail to Ottawa as someone had advised here, and i got a response that my document is not in their office. I also then sent to Accra, but no concrete reply, and then Hong kong responded saying they had received my Enquiries.

1. How else do one know the VO?
2. Is anyone currently going through same process, maybe same or related timelines?

Gurus in the house, your help is needed.

I appreciate.

Hello
My AOR was on 11th of December, sent a mail to Ottawa asking for my visa office but am yet to get a response. However, I got a reply from Hong Kong and Sydney, Australia when I sent them a document, stating that I should send it to my VO which is Nova Scotia, that’s how I got to know my VO.

Secondly I sent a web form about 3 weeks ago and am yet to get a response.

I hope have been a able to answer a question.

Thanks for this... Plz I have sent u email, kindly accept... Need to ask u more questions on where u did ur medical and how much it cost u.

duni04:

I think its best to to do your medicals after you get the Invitation to apply when you are in the UK. I would advice using a Nigerian account for your POF because i think its more difficult, if not impossible, to get reference letters from UK banks addressed to the IRCC. Nigerian banks already have a template for their IRCC letters.
The Nigerian police report is a non-issue as i was able to get mine within a day and while still in the UK. Though I would advice getting it post ITA because it expires after 3months and nobody seems to know when the next draws will take place.
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by Eat50: 9:47am On Feb 08, 2021
Thanks for this information... That amount is much.. How I wish there is even a date available to do it before leaving naija...

Stevepop:

Yes, you can do your med in UK, cost about £330, did mine in December in London, though the price made me wish I was in Nigeria. Better to leave youe POF in naira but ensure you get in touch with your relationship manager to confirm they can provide the letter to you by proxy or via mail to avoid stories when the time comes. You can do the report before leaving but take note that it expires after 3 months, I did mine from the UK, scanned the completed form to a friend who helped in going to Alagbon.

Hello. I won't get your email because the email account I used to set up nairaland has been deactivated. I haven't done my medicals yet because I am still in the pool awaiting ITA. However in anticipation of the ITA in January, I booked a medical appointment with a panel physician somewhere in West London (W1U2ER). I had to cancel the appointment because there was no FSW draw in January. You can lookup the list of panel physicians on the Canada immigration site and see which is closest to you. The cost of the medical is £330. That's plenty of money to waste on something you will probably have to redo if it expires before its useful.

Hello All,

Please we just got a biometric instruction letter and it has just my spouse name on it. She is the primary applicant and has done biometrics within the last 10 years as she was in Canada in 2013 for a brief stay.

I was thinking that i should have one bearing my name as accompanying spouse as i am meant to carry out biometrics too.

Please assist.

One way around it may be to get open a dom account with an any bank and get a dollar debit card or someone you know who has a dollar debit card and used it for online payment.

Fund the card/account by buying USD and paying into the account.

I suggest you use a cross rate of $1 - 1.2 CAD

Did you hold any job for a period of 1year without any gap ?
if both answers are YES, then Express entry might be best for you.

Good evening everyone. I have a quick question, I would like to know if Internship and Nysc count as working experience.

Side-noted, I had one year paid internship experience in a hospital(health worker) and NYSC also in another hospital. Mind you, both jobs were related to my field. Would it count as 2years working experience.

Thanks so much as I anticipate answers
