Flat Roof + Skylight over Atrium in an upcoming proposed development.

The contemporary flat roofs look very simple but costs more to build than traditional roof designs when done right.

_____

Pic 1 - Proposed Development
Pic 2 - Roof Plan (Mechanical Drawing)
Pic 3 - Atrium Skylight
Pic 4 - The Atrium (make una help me beg my client who wan use atrium plant vegetable grin. Indoor Vertical Garden comes to mind though).

I wouldn’t mind tutoring under you for this roof design. My next build has something similar and I still can’t figure it out.

0.35mm that mean the installers did very good work
Although i don't supply such guage due to the thickness
Too light for me but lot of clients request for it
I just look away if you can't purchase 0.45mm is better you make use of slate i don't want wahala or maintenence

This is a prime example of what I’ve been saying to artisans on here for ages.

Yah all shouldn’t take all jobs that you come across. Weigh the job based on your company profile.

I’d be happy to show all the details including the structural and mechanical design details. The toughest part of the roof design is selection of materials. Glass won’t work but polycarbonate sheets.

Nabiz, please explain the idea behind this colour hardner mentioned by Zuraking. Does this job shown here has colour hardner?
There are two types of colour in Nigeria for stamped concrete floor.(Increte)

(1)locally mixed colour: this is the use of ordinary interlocking pigment mixed with either ordinary brown cement or white cemen to achieve color hardner. Some people will also mix it with sand or marble dust. The reason they add cement or white cement to the pigment is to harden the surface of the job. This method is an imitation to an original imported colour hardner. If you a novice some people will even package them in a paint bucket with sticker to look like original.

(2)Original imported colour: this particular type of colour is originally produced and tested for for stamped concrete purposes. You don't need to mix it with anything. It comes with many colours options.

Advantage of original colour. Unlike local pigment, original colour hardner can cure and harden itself when come in contact with water but ordinary pigment does not hardner itself, but use water from cement to harden itself, which may cause pilling off. With local pigment, it may be difficult to get a uniform colour. If you don't use local pigment it will have a hair line surface crack especially if the polish on time. Original colour hardner is not just a colorant it also cures the surface of the job.

For more information about local and original, you can call me for more explanation because there many this I don't know how to explain.

Conflict is pretty much inevitable when we work with others.

When two people involved in a business transaction oversteps the mark of healthy difference of opinion, resolving conflict requires respect and patience - a clear sign of maturity.

As we grow, we must learn to control our emotions, perceptions, and actions whenever conflict arise. We must learn to deal with facts and avoid talking outside context as it allows conflict to build and fester, without being dealt with directly.

Lastly, it takes emotional maturity to prioritize the health of the relationship over the ego-feeding need to be right. cool

Many thanks to all the valuable contributors on this matter. Your difference makes a difference.

Offcourse with your money you can buy 0,70mm if you want...

You’re very correct!

Most people always start with the bolded above (buying the best money can buy). I always encourage homeowners to go with good enough whilst putting more resource on the roof carcassing and insulation where necessary. Those part of roof installation suffers the most.

Most people focus more on the covering than the carcass.

SON and COREN be like twins.

The disparity in thickness and quality of steel/iron rods in the market today is a reflection of how these bodies work.

But building a bungalow of that size on a good soil does not necessarily require pillars.

Update: Final pictures from @Cribking1 project site. Job done.

Update:

When asked if he has confirmed the job has been completed, the client (Cribking1) said and I quote “I'm yet to confirm it.”
In his own word, he also said that @mountmoriah said “He was telling me the installers needed to stay for 2 additional nights that I should send 8K for hotel lodge.”

I tried to confirm this from mountmoriah and he told me that was a message sent before they started the installation. I guess the client must have read it at a later time.

I sent the pictures of the building and showing the job done to the client and he said “He never sent me all these.”
I replied The building is yours. You could have just check in to see the job since you’re there in Ibadan.

He promised to visit the site today and we patiently await his feedback.

How can people put expensive roof on top of a building without reinforced columns....

That's a typical DIY budget bungalow.

It's not recommended, but it stands ( correlating with similar structures of over 20 years old)

DIY because the planning and supervision is usually done by either owner or his relatives and or any artisan/ recommended bricklayer and the building plan ( if it exits) is usually not stamped by a structural engineer.

The overriding criterion is cost. The sandcrete blocks are load bearing. As long as the soil/foundation can bear the load, there will not be a problem. If there is any differential settlement, cracks will surely develop on the walls. It is usually hoped that if the cracks show up, the lintel "chain" should mitigate it from widening. They shaa added columns at some corners where the land was "somehow"

This is one the reasons I said some clients like to play god. It's quite easy to shout someone is fraudulent but now that it's all sorted out he is telling the one assisting in sorting out the issue that he never sent you......
