olaolaking: Son, you and I do not have any quarrel. Do not be too quick to attack anyone. If I had slammed you before this time, you did something wrong. Read my solution and have your life changed. And have a wonderful farming experience. In this business, I am not your mate. Get that into your head. The questions I asked are quite on point. It is not my fault my brain works differently from yours. Pray for wisdom. What you think is not what it is. And what others have trouble shooted is not what it is. If you know what the disease is, you will know why I mentioned the plant. But it's ok, you dont know. What you should keep is not showing your foolis.hness. I pray sense lands on your head. Keep hating. You will meet yours soon. I dont have your time son. Happy Sunday! |

Good day, There could be two or three issue associated with this type of growth being experienced: 1. It could be pest, so use pesticides to spray the garden. 2. It could be deficiency in soil manure, then use fertiliser or organic manure such as dungs etc. 3. It could be that your garden is in a waterlogged area and water is too much for the vegetables, in this case you find a way to drain the water. Or you are wetting with too much water, then reduce the quantity of water use and the number of time you are wetting the farm. Best regards. 1 Like |

churchkilo:These are Fresh Ugu Leaves (Telfairia occidentalis) These plants do well in wet season. You could have put them in Nursery pots or close to water source until rain starts falling. Drought brought the sickness. Add animal manure to the soil and Spray vegie pesticide in minimum quantity on the plants and wet them only at evening time the way you wet them now only when the sun is going down daily until rain takes over. They will surely survive. 1 Like 1 Share |

churchkilo: Firstly, avoid water logging coz it was the one that promoted the growth of anaerobic bacteria and other pathogens. Secondly, the aeration of the soil and the level of porosity is poor thereby reducing the nutrient retentive capacity of the soil and finally, go to the market where they sell Agricultural input and request for foliar spray antibiotics for vegetables farm |

olaolaking:So, from the picture you can tell it is fluted pumpkin 100%, and you can differentiate it easily from habanero using that pic? I doubt you know habanero. Clap for yourself. Like I told you earlier, foolis.hness opens mouth unguarded. And bang! It traps the mouth. Well, I can perceive more foolis.hness with your claim. I'm just smiling. Keep showing how bittered you are towards me. Funny is that I don't know you. But son, nothing you can do me. I can even e-slap you or slap you real time face yo face...nothing will happen to me. You can only continue fighting yourself cos it doesnt affect me. Anyway, i searched the whole thread, Mr expert...where is the solution you gave? You will hate till you enter your own 6ft you are digging. I did not call myself an expert (thanks for recognizing me as one, that's how God lifts one), but I am telling you that you are a kid, son. May the spirit of hatred leave you so you can be free. You have no solution, but hating me. Very funny. And you will claim to be a good Muslim of christian. Lol. May mercy find you. Keep hating. Na me you dey monitor up and down NL. Lol. Keep monitoring me. I will not fail as long as I serve God. Lol. This guy has been monitoring me to make mistake. Lol. But guy, you will wait till you get tired cos failure is not in my dictionary. I hope you have learned from the solution I gave. Do it and come testify here. Empty barrel who cannot give solution but making mouth. Lol. Small small bro. Your six feet you are digging is close. Na you go enter am by yourself only. Continue. Only you will bury yourself alive in it. |

You can provide additional nutrients by applying organic or artificial fertilizer in the form of solutions, granules or powders Among vegetable garden problems and solutions, brown or wilting leaves are a sign of poor irrigation and also dying plants symptoms. Plants need water to transport nutrients from their roots and for their leaves to manufacture nutrients and energy from sunlight. |

The soil lacked some essential soil nutrients such as Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium must especially potassium. Potassium increases vigour and disease resistance of plants, heavy potassium removal can occur on soils used for intensive grazing and intensive horticultural crops, it can though be supplied to soil.... Just apply NPK fertilizer, water regularly and observe it for time.... |

Turn the leaf over and try to unroll the curved parts. Do you see little green specks and/or a white and black scaly substance underneath? |

I see signs of over watering as a result when the leaves of vegetables are too damp all the time this harbours pests and fungi. |

What is your location? I see ugu and tomatoes in your pictures Your garden seems to be overwatered I would suggest that you first of all decide wether you want to go the organic or inorganic route research well to know the pros and cons... I am of an organic persuasion. Secondly, it seems as if you just planted without doing any land preparation. You might need to start with good land preparation, application of basal fertiliser and then take it up from there. author=churchkilo post=99267006]I had this small vegetable garden behind my house that was destroyed by birds last year December. so early this year, i decided to set it up again but i discovered that the vegetable is not doing well due to disease that i have no idea of how to handle. please fellow Nairaland farmers what is the name of this disease and what can i use to treat it[/quote] |

Why are Nigerians so quick to recommend chemical pesticides? These chemicals get into the food chain and cause health problems for both human and animals. There are loads of home remedies like ash, vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, cinnamon etc 3 Likes 1 Share |

This is already late for recovery. Probably if this is not wilting, it should be a disease. Fungi mostly attack vegetables but can only be confirmed when sample is taken to the lab. Treat your vegetables with fungicides to avoid disease. |

if you want to enjoy vegetable production, imbibe the use of organic manure such as poultry or rabbit faeces. also if you can get a litre of rabbit urine from a rabbit farmer( mix 1 litre of rabbit urine with 20 litres of water), spray it on the leaves to kill pests that attacks the leaves. how to water and when to water is very important. watering in the afternoon or when the sun is harsh causes more damage than good to the plants. so water early in the morning or late in the evening. evening watering is better because the water stay long in the soil for usage by the plants unlike in the morning that is easily dried up when the sun is up. when watering, the roots needs more of the water than the leaves. so focus more on the base of the plants. over watering causes leaching of essential nutrients in the soil, so avoid it. I have more to say but...... 1 Like |
