mercyp001: Hi, Telecoms is quite wide, can you be specific with your area of specialisation? Generally there are telecoms jobs but most are low paying (at least to me). I will be more specific if I know your industry/specialty and if I have information on it. 1 Like 1 Share |

Anyone travelling to naija soon from the UK can use Express test at a discounted rate of 80 quid for passengers and result out in 24hrs. Bookings are pretty much easy as well with lots of location around the country. In addition, one has to fill the NCDC form online https://nitp.ncdc.gov.ng/onboarding/homepage before travelling and pay the naija version of the Covid test for your location. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

LagosismyHome: LIMH you don’t want the stress. Just continue with the Brit passport I can tell you this with my chest. By the way, I think the times have changed. I was told the same thing. So I moved heaven and earth to change my passports name, before I applied because they said they will use the name that’s on my passport (then expired) if I applied. I don’t know about deedpoll sha |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Aphrodite007(f): 1:10am On Mar 02, 2021 |
adebayoz001: Because you’re changing the two names, it’s going to be too complex for the embassy even if they were open. I know the brits are now accepting expired passports for visa, but I also know that they will use the name on the passport to create your final “visa”. If they accept a deedpoll, then you’re covered. You don’t need to worry about anything; I believe it trumps the expired Passport’s name. You don’t need a lawyer for anything. If you’re too uncomfortable, spend that lawyer money on a flight to Nigeria, do your passport and return within 4 days. 1 Like |

adebayoz001: This is the exact reason, I personally advice against changing names...... It's never a crime to continue using your maiden name after marriage........ I hope others are learning a thing or 2........ 3 Likes 1 Share |

Lexusgs430: God bless you. Madam has always been she wants to change name because she married. I tell her that does using your maiden name make you less married. No need for all the above wahala, we are in the 21st century unless una no trust una selves and must brand your wife with your name. Come to Scotland, you can flush all you want, you pay fixed price for water. |

Lexusgs430: For those who like to galivant/ travel with kids , and want to explore with or without husband then travelling with kids can be tricky for parents who do not have the same surname with their kids For this reason change of name comes in handy . 5 Likes |

deept: In the UK, if going through a divorce. The name change plays 0% part in anything............ If the husband likes, he should only buy the property or properties, in his name only........ His wàhálà....... The wife still bearing her father's name, is still entitled to 50% of marital assets (as a starting point)....... So to what end is all the wàhálà...... Would the name change - : - Increase their love - Increase their amount kids - Increase his/her libido - Increase their wealth - Increase their debt - Increase their credit.......... 2 Likes 1 Share |

LagosismyHome: I disagree...... I have travelled to over 20 countries with and without my wife....... On occasions that we either travelled independently (with kids)...... Not one issue......... NB: it's airports in Nigeria, that love to stick their smelly noses, in other people's issues...... 11 Likes 1 Share |

Lexusgs430:My oga you’ve said it all. This is 21st century changing of name after marriage doesn’t guarantee anything...........Imagine say person change name after 6 months marriage jakpa? U go dey stock with that name or u go apply for another British passport to change the name again ? |

dustydee:You are right telecoms industry is very wide hence he needs to be specific what he wants and what qualifications he/she has... And no they are not low paying job. Especially if you not a contractor and you work directly with the company ..... BT(EE,Vodafone,plusnet,02) they all have good starting salaries. |

Aphrodite007: You will be surprised that change of name/details on naija passport comes with stress of its own in Naija, and I guarantee it not been possible in 4 days. Steps needed 1.NIMC change of name/details 2. Wait for schedule database update at NIMC ( pay to expedite it) 3. Wait for NIS - NIMC link to be updated. 4. Go to Abuja HQ for data capture. Etc etc 3. 1 Like 1 Share |

I think it will be better and quicker to go to Nigeria to have the name change done though it might be a bit expensive due to covid tests, flight and money to wet the floor adebayoz001: 2 Likes 1 Share |

mercyp001:Not so sure what the RNPO market is like in the UK. But he/she should not limit themself to that but also look at related roles even within telecoms project management and planning. He will typically be looking at the major operators, OEMs like Ericsson and third party service providers. |
