What will parting with a statement such as, ‘the enemy cannot be defeated’, do to the moral of the fighting men he leaves behind as well as that of the enemy?

Such an utterance seems to me so stupid it borders on questionable with quotes
It will have a negative effect on the soldiers.

This country nah anyhow country. The Dubai landlord didn't tell us this war will go on for 20 years when he was the COAS, because he knew the kind of negative effect it will have on the personnel.

But Buratai does not seem to give a dam about what's happening again since he is no more the COAS.

I can see why the likes of Gumi have been asking for amnesty for bandits.

I now understand why a Governor in the North says if he calls out the name of the people behind the kidnapping, Nigerians will be shock.

I now fully understand why Bala Mohamed have been supporting armed Fulani heardsmen.

If a southerner will become the president in 2023, I hope he won't be a puzzy like GEJ.

Buratai's statement was quite understandable to the people he was addressing. He was saying military actions alone won't work. He was accusing politicians and the communities hosting Boko Haram.
He also meant that Boko Haram was winning hearts and minds.
There was a context to his statement before legislators. Sadly, emotions and poor educational background of the social media active commentators who make news every day continues to distort every issue.

If you interpret Buratai's statement to mean Boko Haram will win the war, you need to go for some IQ tests.

Which one be big english to you? I was born and raised in that same Nigeria dude.
Use your common sense, so your solution is to hand over guns to every civilian in Nigeria? Who in their right mind would think this would end well? haha. Good luck with that. Go for it

Salatavor:
Even the police are they not acting as vigilantes. How many extra judicial killings do we record every year from citizens compared to police? In terms of community policing who is always the first responders Nigerian police or local vigilantes.

If not for local vigilantes do we have an even tiny shred of rural policing? Why are people in the villages complaining about herds men and the police claims there is nothing like that going on? Because simply the police are not in these villages and these villagers are resorting to self help...

You guys here self just speak big English you people do not even have a clue as to what is really going on in Nigeria...

My IQ is beside the point; his IQ is the one in question and the statements attributed to him and which you did not successfully reinterpret suggest a worryingly low one. How could a man of his experience expect that his statements to any particular audience would remain limited to that audience, a statement which despite your efforts remains the same – he believes the enemy undefetable. This not only questions the effect that this parting shot might have on soldiers and enemy moral, it suggests other questions, such as at what point throughout these years did it occur to him that the enemy could not be defeated, why, at this point, did he commit men to a fight he did not believe winnable (he should have reconsidered his position in discussions with mr president )? how much effort could he put into wining a war he did not believe winnable? Was he responsible for efforts to rehabilitate terrorists an example the Governor of the state where school children are continually kidnapped is emulating by trying to buy off kidnapping bandits?

He, Buratai, is not omnipotent, how could he know that the enemy is undefeatable? Many believe that Balow was capable of defeating the terrorists and he is not even Nigerian. Perhaps Buratai is incapable of leading the Amy to victory over the enemy and not subsequent generals to come, Generals he has, with such sentiments, unwittingly disadvantaged...

I predicted that they will attack more towns yesterday and this is only just the beginning. The terrorists knew about the offensive and also knew when it would be their turn. They were not sitting idle all the time the offensive was targeting JAS. They've had months to plan and prepare.
The End game of this attacks is to force the military to switch to defensive mode. And to also have supplies to be able to fight back should the military refuse to concede.
It is the military that is supposed to be putting pressure on the terrorists to be on defense at all times but they are incredibly slow to change.

UPDATE ON DIKWA

Nigerian Troops retake Dikwa town & rescued some of the NGOs who hide themselves in some of the bunkers during the attack. Rescued workers were later escorted to Maiduguri. Intel revealed the insurgents speaks good English + wearing military uniforms with ranks.
Sadly during the attack on Dikwa town, part of Emir of Dikwa Palace, hospital, & all the Police stations were reportedly razed down by the insurgents. I learnt about the ongoing efforts to ascertain the status of 7 NGO workers are still not being accounted for this evening.

The House of Representatives Committee on Army says its investigation revealed that 386 soldiers voluntarily disengaged from the army due to medical and other reasons in the second quarters of 2020.

The chairman of the committee, Abdulrazaq Namdaz, who presented a report to the house yesterday, said records by the army indicated that 356 soldiers left the army after losing interest, 24 left to take up traditional titles; while six were discharged on medical grounds.

He said the records also indicated that 6,752 soldiers were discharged from the service in the last five years; while 25,655 soldiers had got enlisted within the same period.

“The lack of commitment on the part of some soldiers is the major reason for voluntary discharge from service. The army disclosed to the committee that some soldiers, having seen the reality of going to the battle front, especially against Boko Haram usually voluntarily discharge from the service.

“Those soldiers did not realize that engagement in the Army is more than a job; it entails personal commitment, regardless of welfare package.

“The documents show that all the voluntarily discharged soldiers were Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO), ranging from Master Warrant Officer (MWO) to private (PTE).

“Based on the facts available to the committee, there was no mass resignation from the army. Individual soldiers resigned on their own from their units.

“The army also told the committee that many soldiers also voluntarily resigned because they simply lost interest in the profession and wanted to take up or look for another job.

“Others voluntarily discharged from the service to take up traditional titles. There are also a few who voluntarily resigned for health reasons.

“Soldiers do not resign in group, rather each soldier resigns on his/her own choice as an individual by submitting his/her own hand-written resignation letter to his/her own unit.

“It has become a routine that every year soldiers resign voluntarily, and so the case of the resignations in the second quarter of 2020 is not unusual.”

Namdas further said that the document presented to the committee by the army command also revealed that 1,908 soldiers left the Army voluntarily or on medical ground, while 4,844 left was as a result of regular run out date.

The committee recommended that the Nigerian Army improve on the welfare of its personnel, especially those in battle fields or other combat operations, to make them more committed to their job and to the nation.

It also recommended effective monitoring or follow-up in the delivery of the welfare packages in all the Army formations to ensure that they reach the soldiers in a fair and equitable manner.

For all the trash the army officer gave as an excuse as to why soldiers are resigning, is the word in bold that caught my attention.

I wish Nigerian army officer pay grade can be slash by about 60%, or make them dey on the same pay grade with the non commission officer... Make we see maybe the incompetent officers wont protest against such a law.

UAE orders more drones from Denel Dynamics!

Defenceweb - 03 March 2021

UAE orders Seeker 400 UAVs for its Presidential Guard

The order was announced by Staff Brigadier-General Mohammed Al Hassani, Official Spokesperson of the IDEX and NAVDEX exhibitions, on the first day of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi on 21 February.

“The UAE Armed Forces confirmed deals with Denel SOC, trading as Denel Dynamics, to provide an unmanned drone system, Seeker 400 UAE, to the Presidential Guard Command with a value of AED 50 000 000 [R204 million),” he said.

The UAE is a repeat customer for the Seeker 400, having most recently ordered AED25 821 190 (R105 million) worth of Seeker 400s in March 2020.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’s Arms Transfers database, the UAE bought several batches of Seeker II aircraft in the 1990s and 2000s, Seeker 200s in 2017 and six Seeker 400 armed UAVs in 2018.

The Seeker 400 has up to 16 hours’ endurance and can carry two sensor payloads (weighing a combined 100 kg) at the same time, or guided weapons.

Power drunk politicians sponsoring bandits – Gov. Matawalle

Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara State has vowed to arrest any politician who enters the state with the intention to use thugs to forment trouble.

According to him, there is nobody that can claim to be above the law of the land, vowing that he had drawn a battle line with the enemies of peace in the State.

Governor Matawalle disclosed this at the Government House in Gusau, the state capital when the Nigeria Governors’ Forum’s delegation led by Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State visited him over the release of 279 school girls in Zamfara State kidnapped last Friday.

“These power drunk politicians cannot stay in Abuja, Kaduna or anywhere in Nigeria and be instigating crisis and be sponsoring terrorism in the state, killing thousands of innocent citizens of the state for selfish interest,” he warned.

The Governor cautioned that nobody is a sacred cow or untouchable, stressing that he is now in charge of the affairs of Zamfara State, challenging any of the politicians to dare him and see the consequences.

It could be recalled that on Sunday when the Federal Government delegation visited him at the Government House, the governor said that many people would be surprised when the sponsors of banditry would be exposed.

The governor maintained that many prominent personalities were solidly behind banditry in the State and that their sins would soon find them out.

Is it legal in Nigeria to publish people's bank details?
I've also noticed your police parading suspects they've arrested before the media, before they've appeared in court.

Here in SA both these things are illegal.
