Oyedepo has just said the truth. I used to believe in Nigeria, but not anymore. Nigerians arent ready to change. Naija will not get better soon. The people must first change before she changes. Oil will soon be a thing of the past. It's unfortunate, but this is the truth. And personally, I am not willing to sacrifice anything for Nigeria again. I have done enough. 1 Like 1 Share |

Myer: Any organisation whether spiritual or physical will fail without a structure. I believe their calendar is made prayerfully too. Being a Christian should be shown in all aspects of your life. Not just holiness aspect. Christ himself was a multifaceted man. He dined with poor, rich, sinners etc. He performed what can be termed as miracles regarding health, wealth etc. He brought money out of the inside of a fish caught to pay Caesar his dues, he made wine from water to prevent shame upon the celebrant, he miraculously fed thousands from 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread. So many other things done which can be termed miracle or paranormal. Don't limit Christianity to just catering to the poor, as it caters to the rich also. Don't limit it to just salvation of sinners, as it caters to 'holy people too. Don't limit it to building factories, as it can build churches too. I know these men of God are just human like I am, and they don't always get it right, so they can be condemned too if they do anything wrong. The question now is what do we consider as wrong morally, and what does God consider as wrong? |

runningriot: 1 John 3:9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. Galatians 3:10-12 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.” These pastors preach that once you're a Christian, nothing you do is considered a sin because God no longer sees you but sees the substituted Christ in your place. These verses have often been also been interpreted to mean any attempt to obey any of the commandments of the law means you're cursed and not living by faith. As long as you attempt not to lie or steal or fornicate, etc you're cursed since you're living under the kaw instead of accepting the finished works of Christ. Yet we see other verses that say those who commit such sins would end up in the lake of fire. It becomes a contradiction. |

edoairways:Asking what what infrastructure from the government? the road you travel on are built and maintained by the government, before now schools were free, even most of these expensive school owners went to almost free tuition school etc.... Church is to support the government for a better society but the reverse is the case in our country, we can't keep defending evil when the truth is very glaring..... If the church is there to build man (which is the ideal thing) yet the man is becoming more violent and there are increase in crime everywhere caused by man despite churches everywhere, what does that tell you? 1 Like |

JuanJO: Yes! na school you go chop. Ever wonder why your father start you off with sound education and not huge amount of money? It's because with good education getting money becomes almost too easy. at some point it's boring. Putting out sound graduates is a reform catalyst for any nation. But thats if they don't travele abroad when they are done. If they are oriented well in truth and patriotism it's a plus. Truth is we don't have sound graduates. If we do, it won't matter if the goverment is defective. A real educated mind can find its way round anything. As a matter of fact, the more difficult it is the more entertaining and enjoyable it is for them. So let them out sound mind into Nigeria to compete if they are honest. But let their heart be for Nigeria. Otherwise it will be the worst form of dishonesty. |

Myer: Christ had all he ever needed. Seeking the prosperity of your soul is the ultimate, but it still doesn't negate physical prosperity Luke 16 vs 11 talks about those who have not been trustworthy in managing worldly wealth cannot be trusted with true riches. There is nothing wrong with prosperity preaching. But you have to be faithful and trustworthy. Why do we always have to equate christianity with poverty? I personally learnt a lot of work ethics from church which I still apply till date. The Nigerian system doesn't have good work ethics and doesnt teach it either. It's a system where carrying expo for exams is encouraged, paying sex and money for grades is encouraged, taking bribe seems normal, paying civil servants to get your file taken to the right place is encouraged and seen as normal when it isn't. The church is one of the institutions that speaks against all that. Even your police are complicit in all the vices I learnt of integrity and making your work stand out, even as a child from the prosperity teaching of the church. Working for someone else/organisation and doing it like it's mine instead of just doing the job for the sake of salary. I learnt to put in my best from some of these prosperity messages. The messages aren't just about having some wealth magically but they teach integrity, hardwork, and the place of Grace in all this. You don't have to be poor before you can be seen living a life of Christ. Christ had followers from all aspects of life. Many of his disciples were successful in their various fields and businesses. When you want to serve God, be ready to serve him with your all. I'm not even a churchgoer but I have been impacted a lot from many of these 'prosperity' teachings. They spend an hour on the pulpit teaching prosperity, but what exactly is the prosperity teaching you all are against? |
