Gidtruth: I bought the shares to keep because I believe the corporation is good. I still intend to keep it and I'm not complaining. That's the difference. You were accusing Akingbola in your case and I'm not accusing anyone because I made the decision to buy for keeps. Gidtruth: I think your biggest problem is that you want to steer this discussion into religious comparison and no one is giving you the chance. You still won't have the chance. Lion Bank was Managed 100% by Muslims, even their staff was more than 80% Muslims and yet where is Lion Bank today? It's not about religion, it's about time and chance in making good decision. I have the shares of AIG (America International Group), and the management was one of the best, yet they failed in their decisions and my shares lost 80% in less than 6 months. Did you notice that America bailed out Citi Group with tax payer's money? CitiBank management failed and they didn't ask the CEO to return his Ferari Enzo. Wake up oga investor. Holla! |

Akobaje: My dear bros, you did well in your post above but there is one thing to be added there: extreme in anything is usually bad. The above scripture reference was about a people that were always seeking a sign (mark the word ALWAYS), and they don't seek the sign to believe but to criticize and so on. Don't forget the word in Mark 16, towards the end, maybe verse 15, 16 or 17 (can't access my pc Bible), it reads: "And this sign shall follow them that believe, in my Name they shall health the sick, . . . cast out demons. . . and if they eat any poison it shall not hurt them". I'm not sure I'm quoting exactly but the entire content is to that effect. The rule says that the sign shall follow them that believe, so if one believes, signs are supposed to follow. Ok? If sign does not follow you when you believe, it does not mean that you believed less, it simply means that after believing you're not concentrating on getting the sign. Sign is not mandatory, it's of volition; to whosoever wills. It's your right. Holla! |

justcool: If I lift a piece of stone from the ground - admitted work is done. If I lift a piece of stone from the ground and hold it suspended for hours - then work was done when I lifted it but no more work was done for the hours I held it up? If you say no work is being done in this circumstance, then your understanding of your definition is deceptive. You now need to consult an authority, or you might decide to consult natural authority by putting your hand under the stone and I drop it. Work define as Force + Distance covered is comprehensive enough if you understand that there is a reverse force (gravity) that would have taken the stone another distance if i didn't hold it up. So distance is still being covered. Now take this and add to your definition of work "THAT WORK INVOLVES TRANSFER OF ENERGY FROM ONE BODY TO ANOTHER". If that transfer of energy into another body cause it to move or be transform from one state to another, work is deemed to have been done. Holla! |

justcool: This is where I have severe misunderstanding of your concept. Either you abandoned your concept here totally or you're not very descriptive. By "If I hold a very heavy stone for hours", do you mean holding it up or just holding it while it lay on the ground. If you mean while it lay on the ground, then there is neither force nor distance; but if you mean holding it up or off the ground, then there is both force and distance, therefore work has been done and energy dissipated. However, the amount of energy required to whisk it off the ground is not equal to that required to keep it suspended, but while it's still suspended work is still going on until it is returned to a state of rest. Holla! |

Deep Sight: I want to put across my understanding of your definition with some questions. Matter is formed from the cooling off of the energy of God, while energy is the "pulse" of existence. How does pulse cool to form matter and is it repeatable in any other form? Water is already matter so don't use the cooling of steam example, it means cooling matter and not pulse. Again, you mentioned that God is non material, can you describe how non meterial "being[?]" produce material being? These questions are actually not specifically directed to Deep Sight. Anyone could help clarify some of the ambiguities. Holla! |
Religion / Re: Evidence Of The Spirit? - Energy Balance & Thermodynamics by precap2(m): 9:24pm On Jul 27, 2010 |
Deep Sight: Lucretius won't accept that your spiritual, neither would Democritus. Now it is difficult to prove the spiritual with physical laws. How can you prove what is neither palpable nor perceptible by the senses? When you sense something, you think about it, but when you intuit something, you feel about it: SENSING = THINKING INTUITION = FEELING. These 2 operate from different dimensions with one always muddled and subject to confusion and the other easily perceived and described. You've got to prove spirit here bro. I'm a christian but we're looking at physical laws viz-a-viz spirit (which is contrary but not contradictory in natures). Deep Sight: ONE energy is difficult enough in physical terms but one source is impossble unless you describe to me what you mean by source. The sun produce energy, and some energies are derived from the soil. The nature and source of both are not the same (in physical terms) but one can easily act like - or almost like - the other. Deep Sight: If this can be measured I believe there would be need to transform density. It's my personal perception that dead bodies tend to weigh more that the live ones. Do we explain the increase in weight in terms of more acquisition of inactive energy or in terms of dispersal of same as you mentioned. If energy is dispersed in dying, what nature does it take? I think the energy remains in the body but is transformed into another usable state. BUT DOES ENERGY HAVE WEIGHT? Deep Sight: You got yourself an uphill task brother. I'd be waiting patiently. Deep Sight: What does that mean? Dimensions of reality Deep Sight: Dimension? Deep Sight: It's a waste of time to try measuring evergy that appear in different forms for the purpose of comparing their values. There is one thing to to say in the end. How do we say that heat is energy and say that light is also energy, and other forms of energy? What EXACLY is the property in all of them that make them pass the definition of energy? We always have this primary definition of matter and everyone knows what matter is. Can we pin energy down to such definition and squeeze all other manifestation of the so-called energy into that definition? Holla! |

tkb417: Let me tell you what is happening. Vanguard reported about this months before it started happening. Some big dogs want to take over 5 top banks in Nigeria. The Feds pumped in the money in apparent deception. Just as the banks shares are now depreciating as after effect of the CBN stupidity, CBN will now revalue the bailout fund into shares in cerncert with SEC and sell the shares to those big dogs ostensibly to recoup the "tax payers money". But the plan had been hatched long before it materialized. Don't forget that when CBN was giving the money to the 5 banks they made it clear that they would recover the monies thru selling shares of the banks in the capital market. It's no accident, it's a well ochestrated plan. Holla! |

Tudór: What you don't know might be killing you There is an art of investing, it's hardly a science baby. A wise investor would have in 2008 divested himself of 50% of his holding to recover his full investment and the rest run as free call so that if trouble happens in the market, he'll be at no risk Investing is no gambling but if you look at it from a novice point of view or from a half-hearted investor point of view, it looks like Asyrian magic. GenBuhari: You don't understand my sentiments at all. I hate the West and everything they stand for, but I loathe brothers like Mugabe who give the West reason to think we're not making progress. A narcissist in position of power is always a huge burden. Mugabe is not doing it right. So also are most of the id.iots across sub-saharan Africa. To praise Mugabe/Tsvangirai for changing currency without improving anything is almost like praising OBJ for licensing GSM operators without providing necessary infrastructure to make things good. Must Mugabe die there? Are there no other reasonable humans in Zim? He progressively ruined the country from 1980 and you think he should be given more chance to perpetrate more ruin? Tudór: You know next to nothing about investing baby. And you must make haste to admit it before your embarrassment over-weigh you. It might interest you to know that my business is 100% investing. I'm into stocks, hedge, forex, government bonds, commodities- metals, with special knowledge of US stocks. Call me at any minute and ask what the current price of S&P 500 or Dow industrial is and I'll give you some history. When Intercontinental appreciated by more than 100% in 2008, the investor should have divested himself of 50% of his holding unless he's holding it for the future (in which case he's at no loss, but hopes to collect dividend). If he's interested in the market value of the stock, then he should have sold in 2008, but if he's interested in the value of the corporation, then he should not complain about the market value because he's investing for the future. Ok? As for investing into Akingbola's hand by investing in the bank and all that, you don't seem to know much about how corporate bodies work. Let me give you a little insight. There was rumor about Microsoft taking over other OS like Solaris, etc, and people rushed to buy MS shares because it means profitable monopoly. MS shares rose from $63.21 to $118.60 in less than 72 hours. Some people still bought it at that peak price before reason prevailed and the price plunged, went down to $71 and could not go higher for several months. Those who bought the share at $118.60 should blame Messrs William Gates and Steve Balmer's managerial incompetence and all? Most Nigerian banks entered the market over-priced. I also follow the history of stocks in Naija with keen interest as I still have a few useless stocks here and there. Now I must advice you fine-tune your vocabulary. It has too much of unwanted elements, and that's too bad for a lady Holla! |

m_nwankwo: Your questions will drive us into serious epistemological/ontological jamboree and in the end we'll come out smoking like h.ell. Indeed if we delve into the question of consciousness alone, we might cover 200 pages without coming out with a conclusive guide. But I now see the difficulty of even discussing the main topic without these definitions. I think we're stuck somehow. Even the topic of this discussion isn't helping matters. How do we construe the words and phrases used? "Evidence Of The Spirit? - Energy Balance & Thermodynamics". Do we need to proceed by having a common position on the meaning of energy balance? The "&" in the heading, should it be understood to mean strictly conjunctive or would there be at any time a disjunction of both (because I see possibility of disjunction or discussion might be impossible), etc etc. I think we need to reevaluate everything from start. Deep Sight: Both phrases as used in the quoted context mean the same thing. All things are included in the universe: uni-verse = union of diversities. All the forces that make things happen, and all the things that happen as a result of these energies are included in the term universe. Holla! |

Beaf: I know your zeal for our fellow African brothers, but my dad would always say that before work of mercy begins, the truth must be established. It's only when you get the truth that you can know the appropriate terms of mercy. Everything has terms. I don't think that either world bank or IMF has any good report about Zim's growth, but if you have link, let me read from it. Meanwhile here are some links that might give more insight: http://data.worldbank.org/data-catalog Download the appropriate spreadsheet. Even here Nigeria is at No 44 on GDP while the favored Zim is at No 143, have a look: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal) This is the only thing I found that sound like what you were saying before: "However, the country has shown commitment to economic stabilisation and continuing recovery since dollarisation last year, and economic growth forecast is estimated at around 4.5 percent by year-end. An IMF visiting mission last month however called for more reforms indicating that Zimbabwe's economic outlook was still 'highly uncertain'" http://allafrica.com/stories/201007200491.html Bless ya brother Holla! |

vedaxcool: You're right no one is born with original sin. You're right again Jesus Christ died for the sins of the whole world. But you're wrong here: our children are not born with any sin. The Bible position on the matter is clear, no one will put upon you sin you did not commit. Commission of sin is personal and not transferable. Bible position is very clear unless some people wants to import their church doctrine into the Bible. No one is born with sin. Holla! |

Pimpu:Hitler was a Satanist and not a Christian. Just as every other fake religion like to quote Christianity to back up themselves, so he did. But that's good, the devil is not interested in quoting what is from bottom false, that's why everyone wants to corrupt the TRUTH so that all will appear false. Even though I have not verified your quote above knowing full well that Muslims could easily lie with such quotes just to discredit Christianity. "Satan has striven against the TRUTH in manifold ways, he has even tried to destroy it by defending it". . . Tetuillian. We can't let Muslims defend Christianity or appropriate Christ as they want to do, let them convert to the TRUTH and acknowledge same to be True. vedaxcool: What was it Karl Marx said: Religion is the opiate of the masses. It's too pronounced in Muslims. How can ignorant, violent, rageful guy like vedacool say he's clearing cobweb from someones eyes? Come to Jesus and be lifted from this dungeon of hate and violence. Tudór: You didn't understand the guy's/gal's comment. Go back and reread it slowly Tudór: I think you attack without understanding it. The guy whose comment was being replied to was stating his ordeal at buying Intercontinental shares which he claimed were depreciating. Buying ICB shares does not translate to investing with Akingbola. And the reply was that he should have taken his profit out in 2008 if he had better financial wisdom. Simple. However, I know your position concerning Christians. I have read many things posted by you, only try to understand before you reply. Holla! |
