Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 8 Secrets That Will Make You More Attractive To Recruiters In 2019 by pressplay411(m): 12:16pm On Jan 02, 2019
gisthabit:
Sometimes a job search can be so frustrating, annoying and overwhelming, especially when you are in an urgent need of a job.
It often feels like there is so much you need to do to become employable in so little time.

This is even worse in the current state of our economy where job loss is on the increase and job creation has taken a nose dive.
In this article, we will discover the secrets to get a dream job in the highly competitive labour market.

#1 Apply for jobs that are never advertised

Most of the really great and high paying jobs get filled even before they are advertised by companies.

Generally, the process of interviewing and selecting a qualified and successful candidate is always tasking and tedious when a job position is advertised considering the numerous people that will be applying for a single position.

Companies find it easier to deal with when the applicants are few so most times, to save time and resources they prefer to screen the qualified few that have applied even without advertising the job.

To achieve this you may need to talk or make friends with an insider in the company to enable you to get information as soon as there is a vacancy.

#2 Don't allow yourself to be discouraged by lack of experience

When developing and reorganizing your résumé for the new role or job you want to apply for, think and tailor your current skills and abilities to the job role you will be applying for.

For instance, knowledge of customer relationship, marketing and sales, information technology will be of great relevance in most careers.

#3 Improve and get new skills

In 2019 companies will be needing not just professionals with the regular requirements or certifications but professionals with skills that are necessary for them to function exceptionally well in their chosen career.

To continuously create opportunities around yourself and to remain marketable, there is a need to develop mastery in your chosen field.
Begin the year by learning a new skill, take advantage of the enormous and unlimited information available to you on the internet.

#4 Don’t depend solely on your résumé

No doubt having a good résumé is the first step to get your foot in the door of your prospective employer and sell yourself to them.
But believe me, in 2019 employers are going to step up their game when it comes to hiring new workers by going as far as checking online to see if you have showcased yourself on the social media.

You can create a professional portfolio on places like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn and showcase your professional values, achievements and worth to your prospective employers.

Another great advantage of social media portfolios is that it increases your chances of getting hired as it announces you to companies that are searching for your skills.

#5 Don’t just work for the money

In a Bollywood movie titled 3-Idiots, Ranchodas Chanchad said the following; “make your passion your profession”, “follow excellence and success will chase you pants down”.

Do a self-searching and discover the work that brings out the passion and inner strength in you and gives it a try. If you belong to the group that works just for the money, the titles and power that comes with career growth them you will never find satisfaction and fulfilment no matter how hard or how long you try.

I give you a great example of someone that followed excellence and fulfilment: I know of a woman, an ex-banker who had a thing for cooking.
She quieted her high paying banking job about 10 years back and went into a catering business where she cooks for people during events. At first, she was just doing it for the fun of it not minding the little money she made as income after expenses.

As time went by, the business grew into a multimillion naira catering and event management business. Currently, bankers cue up in her offices convince her to bring her business account to their financial institution.

If you haven’t seen the 3-Idiots MOVIE, I strongly recommend that you do!

#6 Don’t quit your current job

Never do the mistake of quitting your current job while you are yet to secure your dream job. A bird at hand is worth hundreds in out there.

You can rather invest your time before and after work into doing something gainful.
No one says that you cannot get another short time job that will not affect your main job.
The popular belief that having more than one short periods jobs will burn you out is not true but instead worry, stress, idleness and joblessness will.

In developed countries, people do more than one job and still lead a normal and healthy life.

There are several short time or side jobs you can do side by side your main job, read my post on Top paying online business you can do in 2019.

#7 Show sincere gratitude in your current place of employment

Most people love working with thankful, humble, sincere and honest people who give their all to in anything they are assigned to do.
If you have been slacking in your current job, do yourself good by stepping up your game, go the extra mile to do your very best.

Note that the key to happiness is solely in your hands and has nothing to do with your company or bosses. So stop being an emotionally disengaged staff.

#8 Get off social media and back in the game of work

Yes, you need to exercise some level of self-discipline over the use of social media. Once you have uploaded your credentials, get back out into the real world and get back to work.

Social media isn't a job, it is just a tool. Limit your time on social media to maybe during break hours. A teacher doesn’t live for his pen. He or she puts it to work writing things.

Aristotle the great once said, "You will never do anything in this world without COURAGE. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honour,"

Dr Mae Jemison, who is the first African American female astronaut said, “Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations,”

The power to choose lies in you, don’t waste your time irrespective of where you are working instead focus on your job and manage it.

Find something you love and start doing it.

If you love writing – get your writing pad and kick off.

If you love to do graphic design – explore the creativity in you.

If you enjoy doing web development – practice and play around with different projects.

Remember practice makes better!!!

I know that every moment should be the best one since you are required to live them to the fullest, but there are some who always stand out.

Quite much.
My birthday this year was awesome. So much love and support.
Perhaps the most memorable was when I shared the testimony of my transformation during a week-day service and it was inspiring. I thought that was it only for the pastor's wife to call me out during a larger iservice to share my testimony to the whole congregation.
It was so unexpected and I was so nervous but it was really an honour to become a testimony of God's faithfulness and transformative power.
And of course work-wise, my department went from the most ridiculed to the most celebrated.
Even my boss went from being the most difficult and feared to being understanding and respected.
2018 I also stopped falling sick which used to be regular. If I exposed myself to mosquitoes, I just pray and I get healed the next day. I stopped needing my HMO.
I can't wait for what God is going to do with us all in 2019.

We are 100% sure that one Nairalander will still ask the OP, 'how was your night' after reading this!

While I agree "How was your night?" is not necessarily for strangers, I don't believe it is wrong either.
Don't let angry people change you. You are to change them. That's why you're a Light.

How do I mean?
Even "Good Morning" provokes an angry person.
Haven't you heard responses such as "What's good about the morning?"
Does that mean you should also delete that from your greeting?
By the time you're done satisfying every angry person, you will be left with Body Language which can also be misinterpreted.

Please if you really genuinely care about someone's night perhaps because you sense their countenance, please it's OK to ask. You might be able to bring a smile on their face at the end of the conversation and make their day and maybe even the rest of their nights.
All the best.

Religion / 2018, What A Year! Lost But Found by pressplay411(m): 12:44am On Dec 31, 2018
This year has been Extraordinary for me.
And God has been so Wonderful to me.
Where do I even start?
In just a moment in time before 2018, I went from being a Believer to an Apostate to Freethinker then Atheist then Freethinker again. Who would have thought I could ever be a Believer again? How did He do it!
I literally went from being King Saul to King David.
I literally went from being Persecutor Saul to Apostle Paul.
I literally went from being Animal Nebuchadnezzar to King Nebuchadnezzar.
I literally went from being Legion Possessed to preaching to the Decapolis.
I literally went from being the Prodigal son to being Reunited with my Father.
Who would have thunk!
Oh my year has been Profound.
I went from so lost to so found.
I went from confused to enthused.
I went from being toxic to being a tonic
I went from the pessimistic critic and realistic cynic to becoming optimistic.
I went from so hopeless to so hopeful.
I went from being indifferent to being the difference.
Oh I went from disbelieving miracles to walking in miracles.
And went from disproving testimonies to Becoming A Testimony!!!
I went from the Valley of Shadow of death to Living in the Realm of Glory.
Baba! You Are Awesome!
In just a moment and a split decision, I strongly am a confirmation that a life could turn 180, just turn around, change your mind, Repent and Everything would never be the same.
Oh My God of Salvation, My God of Transformation, My God of Restoration.
What is man that you are so mindful of him??
You are a God of New Beginnings.
Oh How I anticipate and salivate for this New Beginnings you are Starting in your Creation.

My Hallelujah Belongs To You
All Of The Glory Belongs To You
You Deserve It
For Only You Are Worthy
Only You are the Word from the very Beginning of Time! All things are Created Through You and For You!
I will Worship You Forever, Love You Forever
Because, Baba You're Too Good Oh!
Thank you Father.
Thank you Jesus Christ
Thank you Holy Spirit
For Everything and For EveryOne you have made an Angel to me this year.
Please to ask me to name names, my thumbs couldn't handle it. From my Pastors, Teachers, Ministers, Brethren, Family, Bosses, Colleagues, Online Connects and Influencers.
You are all appreciated from the bottom of my Renewed Heart.

2019, Our Year Of New Beginnings!!!

Heaven and hell start on earth.
Seeing the kingdom of heaven is accessing and walking in the spiritual revelations of God.

Jesus has become unprofitable to you, if you think/believe you have to do some certain things(like being in the gathering of the saints) for God to love and accept you. Breaking News: God have given you all of his blessing, favour and love in Christ Jesus without you asking for it or fasting and praying for it. Believe it and enjoy it!

Don't make JESUS CHRIST unprofitable in your life through wrong thinking and believe system. Much love!

Go to a church and Compare how far your reason has brought you this year with some Christians accessing kingdom blessings.

While you were here debating as pessimists and realists that you are, optimists and opportunist are living and prospering.
Yes you're a realist because you only believe what is tangible and a pessimist because you discountenance the intangible.
Where as the reverse is truly the case.
Faith is for the hopeful, the optimist. Success is for the opportunist who is not questioning how, where, why but doing the needful.

The best way I can try to explain spiritual matters to an unbeliever is for you to watch the movie, The Matrix.
Your reality is like the Matrix world. You don't know your spiritual reality.
I hope you unplug yourself soon.
I used to think religion was the matrix so I unplugged myself. Unfortunately I unplugged from religion but still didn't plug in to the spiritual. I became a freethinker, an atheist eventually.

It's amazing how most Nigerians believe in evil spirits but fail to accept and live life with the Holy spirit.
Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and receive the Holy spirit.

Why am I going to this length to explain to you?
Atheists have unplugged from Religion. But fail to operate in the spirit realm.
You're in a limbo. Neither here nor there. It is a risky realm to be in.

Buhari fooled you in 2015, shame on him. But if he fools you in 2019, the shame will be on YOU! Reno tweeted .

The statement came on a day Boko Haram took the second largest city in Borno state and hoisted it's flag after sacking the MNJTF in Baga.

Buhari has kept the underperforming service chiefs in office beyond their retirement ages a situation that has greatly reduced the morale of troops and offcers according to media reports .

At least before Buhari, BH feared soldiers. Now, they eat our military for breakfast.
Buhari has a good intention, but the power to achieve it, is not his.
We need a Christ-powered president.
I wish Osinbajo swapped with him as President. Nigeria will certainly experience turn around.
Not every one who call themselves Christans are Christ-powered. They quenched the Spirit a long time ago. A true Christian president in Aso Rock will turn Nigeria around and establish peace, unity and prosperity in all the states.
It won't be Him achieving this but Christ in Him, the hope of glory.

Buhari has good intentions but the forces in Aso Rock are beyond him. Atiku would most likely perform worse.
Yes, Nigeria's problem is spiritual.

Religion / Re: Witchcraft And Antichrist Practices In Nigeria Mega Churches by pressplay411(m): 2:02am On Dec 29, 2018
TruthinAction:

The law of Moses is abolished. That is why the Church is not involved in the ceremonial cleansing prescribed by the law. We are no longer under dos and don'ts. The Scripture is very clear on it. That does not mean that there are no moral lessons to be derived from the old Testament. There are quite a lot of moral lessons. But when any old Testament instruction contradicts the teachings of Jesus, it should be discarded.

Matthew 5:18-19
Romans 3:31

The only difference between old and new testament is Grace. In the new covenant, the Holy Spirit is indwelling us. We no longer attain righteousness by works and sacrofices and there's no more condemnation when we sin, although we should not keep committing sin. We are righteous because we believe in Jesus Christ. And for this we receive the Holy Spirit who teaches us and empowers us step by step to fulfill all righteousness, to overcome sin and death, fulfill all the laws and even live above the laws. Grace is for Perfection.

The Old testament and New testament are like starimg at 6 and 9.from opposing ends. 6 becomes 9 and 9 becomes 6. They point to each other.
Old testament teaches fulfilling all the laws in order to attain righteousness, while the new testament teaches receiving righteousness in order to fulfill the laws and live in eternal and abundant life.

I pray we get things right as a body of Christ.
Certainly, 2019 is going to be a year of new unveilings and dominion for Christians.

The problem with human beings is that we want to know the truth, we just hate to hear it. And nobody likes to change their nature even when it is destroying them.
Yet, without the truth, you will never know you have a problem, you will never know the nature of your problem. Also you will never know the solution to your problem.
I have created a couple of disgruntled colleagues for telling their the truth and what they needed to change
The wise ones got temporarily angry and decided to change, the others chose to continue their own way. And I left them to it

Suicides piss me off. I can't explain it but once I hear a person took their own life I get fucking mad. We're out here trying to stay alive and you just took your own life you ungrateful little Bleep. You shouldn't have had that life to begin with, someone else deserved it.
social media has presented suicide as a considerable option. You ask how? You see how much love, care and support is on display when a person commits suicide? That's a major problem. We pamper suicides too much, thus letting it have its way.

That's aside, they think it's a solution to their problems. What nonsense. You guys have been pampered enough, you need someone to talk sense I to you. Your problems don't go away, only you do and most times it's transferred to a person who's unprepared.

They, in turn, get frustrated because they inherited problems they aren't prepared for and when it starts to seem like nothing is working, suicide starts to look good and since someone they know and probably looked up to did it, well, the cycle continues. I've joined campaigns to stop suicide. I've begged, I've pleaded, and people are still taking their own life. I wish life can be transferred, I won't think twice about transferring that life to someone who actually wanted to live but isn't alive right now.

Honestly, if you don't want to annoy me, keep anything relating to suicides away. I don't want to hear or see that a person, no matter the reason, took their own life. Don't give me any speech about depression, I know about depression, I fought the damn thing and I had nobody.

Don't tell me people aren't as strong as I am because that's bullshit. We're strong in our different ways and you have no idea how strong you really are until it's the only option you have left. Suicide is never an option. People have been through far worse and came out on top.

So don't tell me any crap about me being insensitive or I don't understand. I understand perfectly well that they are ungrateful and undeserving
If you have mental/psychological issues, find help. People are willing to help for free. Friends, even strangers want you to stay alive & you still want to die. You're very mad and you deserve to burn in hell for putting the people you leave behind through such emotional torture.

There's always a way out. I mean always, no exceptions whatsoever. Even if you choose to not believe in God your options are still numerous, but, no, you won't think that way instead you think of giving up completely, you idiot.

Go to a hospital and donate your organs, you'll save lives. People need those organs. At the very least, give your death meaning.
If you're reading this and you're still contemplating suicide for whatever reason, I want you to know that you're very cruel and very ungrateful. I made this thread of my own volition, out of the irritation of how we've accommodated the idea of taking one's own life. I will not tolerate or pamper it anymore. You don't own the life, you didn't give it to yourself, God did and you insult Him by taking it so meaninglessly.

To the guy that lost his girlfriend to suicide yesterday being a day after Christmas, I'm sorry you had to go through that. You didn't deserve it and you should've known but don't listen to anyone blaming you for not knowing. It wasn't your fault. She made a choice on her own.
A lot of you disagree, but that's okay. Let me put in another angle. Let's take suicide off the table. Imagine humans are immortal and cannot be killed, what do you think will happen? You think they won't find a way to deal with whatever issues they have? You guys are joking..

I don't know how to react to this.
I used to be very depressive and at those periods, no one, nothing about this life seemed worth living. I had lost hope to be successful, all I saw was a continuous life of struggles.
I had a good job, i had people who loved me but I was just in a dark mental and emotional space.
I went from from having a very promising future to a bleak future, compounded by loss of a very lucrative job and the frustrations of Nigeria's labour market for a 2.2 graduate in his late 20s.
I would get so depressed and break up any relationship I was as I just needed to be alone. I even got myself in a double-dating situation and broke it off with both about the same time. Another time I slept with a stripper unprotected and put my self at sexual risks just because I didn't care anymore. I was living recklessly, drinking just to survive everyday of life.

Through it all, the only thought that kept me from commuting suicide was the thought of my mom. I hated the idea of her losing 1 of her only 2 children.
I decided I would try to stay alive for her. Every depressed person needs to know that their life matter to someone and their death would hurt someone so much. They shouldn't be thinking of themselves alone.

I eventually got myself in deeper mess and found myself dating a married woman. But in all these I was living in the fear of eventually dying one way or another. If the alcohol didn't give me kidney disease, the adultery would when I got caught or I would get some STD and my misery would end.
Honestly I was just so lost and being a danger to myself and others.
Yet on the surface you could never tell all these was going on. Only very few close colleagues knew something was wrong. Most people saw a good, gentle, guy on the surface.
That's why I don't ever judge anything or anyone on the surface. People are going through things behind the facade and fake social media lifestyle.

My life really started to take a shape when I decided to go and know Jesus late 2017. It was that simple.
2018 was my year of so much trials and victories.
I dropped drinking, dropped sex and masturbation,, dropped major habits that seemed impossible to stop.
Out of Love for God.
When you truly start knowing God, there's no way you won't fall love with Him.
You will willingly start sacrificing your former pleasures for more of His Love, Intimacy and Knowledge and in the name of what He's calling you into.

I really didn't go to church for miracles, I had given up and settled for my struggling life except maybe if he can help, why not. I just wanted to know who Jesus Christ is. I wanted to understand why some people believed in Him so much. I wanted to experience Him personally. And truly, I began to encounter Him and He humbled me.

So is depression real? Certainly yes.
Is suicide the answer? Certainly no.
Do I judge suicide victims? Who am I to judge anyone?
But is there a better option than suicide? Far better.
It's not only God that is the answer.
In my case, I resorted to drinking, others resort to drugs (prescriptions or abuse), some resort to rehab, some even resort to burying themselves in long hour jobs so they won't face their problems, etc.
But I can confirm categorically that Jesus is the best Solution.
May the Grace, Peace and Joy of the LORD locate and fill every depressed heart and give us all hope again in Jesus name.
Amen.

1. Always trust in Jehovah
2. to be content
3. Not to relying on material things for happiness.

Preach sistah. You're so right.
Lust is our problem. Contentment is the solution as we channel our desire and focus to pursuing the Knowledge and likeness of God through Christ.

My 2018 was mostly marked by depression.
Working hard and not seeing results for your input can leave you doubting your capabilities. Knowing you're supposed to have attained a certain feat in your life but you're still struggling to set sail.
Nonetheless, 2018 has taught me perseverance, patience and character. These are attributes I never would have learnt if I hadn't encountered the set backs I faced this year.
2018 taught me never to depend on anyone. Never to build my happiness on people's approval, and never to stop believing that tomorrow would be better than today.
I made mistakes, and I learnt as well. I failed, but I got back up. In all, 2018 has been fruitful since I got to discover I possessed strength I never thought I had.

Patience, Perseverence, Character?
I love these. You just mentioned 2 attritutes of the Character called Fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23.
I pray you learnt Humility too. That is the whole essence of our struggles in life. To be humbled.
You will be amazed hiow proud everyone is.
Don't get me wrong, pride is not always obvious.
But you'll get it when you start paying attention to being More Humble.
God bless you and have a blessed 2019.

I'm also dropping procrastination.
And also hope to stop empty promises.
I want to be a man of my word this 2019.

Last year I decided to quit alcohol and God helped me. 31st December 2017 marked my last taste of alcoholic drinks. I took alcoholic herbs but ultimately quit that too in Feb 2018.
I never espered I could.
I was already becoming an alcoholic.

A little hack to quitting alcohol, if you can avoild drinking on the 1st January with all the festivities going on, then you will easily avoid it on regular days.

Always keep an eye out for opportunity

Contrary to the popular myth, opportunity does NOT come only once.

It's more like every second!

However, they usually aren't easy to spot because they don't have a clear notice board announcing "LOOK! I am an opportunity!"

Unless you get trained to spot and act on opportunity, all the goal-setting in the world won't help you much

So...

What has 2018 taught YOU?

The most vital lesson in life.
God is primary, every other thing is secondary.
Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Grace is for Perfection not to continue to wallow in a life of sin, condemnation, struggles and limitations.
That everything could change for the better/worse in a split decision.
The only best decision is to repent and choose to follow Jesus Christ, to know Him and everything He's about.
I dedicated my 2017/18 to know Him and my life turned 180 degrees. 0 to 100 real quick.
Everyone calls me a testimony.
I can't wait to see what He will teach and make out of me, you, the Body of Christ, Nigeria and the World in 2019.
Joy to the World.
God bless us all.

Big up

It's a very good contribution
As a matter of fact, a classic example of what Kenneth4u205 hinted
is what appeared to Saul when he was with the witch of Endor, trying to make contact with a dead Samuel

Good observation.

Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
All this is modernised idolatry.
Stop worshipping the creature. Worship only the creator.
Osun was the rival of Oya and second wife of Sango.
If you worship Osun who is inferior to even Oya and Sango as the story goes, can't you see that you're so far below the food chain of gods?
I know how hard it is to let go of culture, tradition and religion but until you let go, your bias and sentiments will enslave you.
I had to let go of religion, to find Jesus Christ.
If truly Osun is a goddess of joy, then she should lead you to Jesus Christ, the source of Joy.
And if IFA is a divinity of wisdom, He should also point you to Jesus Christ, the Wisdom of God.
God bless you.

Awesome testimony.
They asked for signs and wonders, yet some people won't believe what is glaring right at them.
He went from depressed to repressed to attempting suicide.
Then he met Christ, and His life began on the Sweet side.

God loves you no matter how bad your past or present.
He would comfort you no matter how much you're hurting even when you think you've hurt Him.
He forgives and forgets faster than you can say "Forgive Me." Because He sees your heart first.

Tomorrow is not the time to turn to Him. Today is. Ask for forgiveness and accept Him as your Lord and Saviour.
If you knew what you're missing in Christ, you'll drop everything right now to be Reunited to your Creator, Maker, Father, Friend, Lover, King and Saviour.

PS: Remember the prodigal son? You're even more special to God. You have little to lose relatively and everything to gain. Just locate a church and choose to know Jesus Christ. He's the deepest, loveliest, best-est person you will ever meet. I can't even make this up even if I tried. God bless you.
