The Federal Government via the National Broadcasting Corporation, has made firm on its decision to ban Olamide’s anthem and hit track of the moment, Wo.

This is coming a few days after the Federal Ministry of Health had openly aired it displeasure regarding visuals to Wo. In its own opinion, the video portrays a bad message that encourages second-hand smoking.

However, NBC did not stop there as they also went further to ban four other hit tunes, Wavy Level by YBNL boss Olamide; FALL and IF by DMW boss, Davido and also Living Things by 9ice.

You would recall that Falz had earlier called out music acts who entertain lavish lifestyles and also fraud. In view of Falz comment, 9ice’s “Living Things”, was the major talking point.
Apparently, we would not be hearing these hit tunes on our air waves again.

Nigeria Indigenous rapper, Olamide Adedeji may be at risk of a N3 million fine and one-year jail term for promoting the use of tobacco in his recently released video, ‘Wo’. According to Dailypost.

The federal ministry of health had notified the public that the rapper had violated the 2015 tobacco act, warning that the video had “dangerous public health content”.

The ministry wrote on Twitter,
“The public is informed of the dangerous public health content & violation of Tobacco Control Act 2015 in “Wo” by @olamide_YBNL#ClearTheAir.

“The content & video contains scenes that violate the ban on Tobacco Advertising, Promotion & Sponsorship provision of the act #ClearTheAir.”

The 28-year-old rapper, who is signed to his own record label, YBNL, had returned to Ladi Lak in Bariga where he was raised to shoot the video of his latest single.

According to the 2015 Tobacco Control Act, it is prohibited to promote or advertise tobacco or tobacco products except between a manufacturer, retailer and consenting persons above 18 years of age.


“No person shall promote or advertise tobacco or tobacco products in any form.

“No person shall engage or participate in any tobacco advertising, promotion or sponsorship as a media or event organizer, celebrity or other participant,” it read.

According to the 2015 law, anyone who violates the law faces the risk of a fine and jail term of not more than one year.

Person that produces or publishes advertising, promotion or sponsorship content shall attract a fine of not less than N3,000,000 and a term of imprisonment of not more than one year.

A 3-year-old girl who had limited time to live after birth received a life-saving gift from her from her 64-year-old granddad who donated his kidney to her.

According to The Sun UK, Little Penny Powell was born 10 weeks premature on December 8, 2013, weighing just 1lb 5oz. She was born with abnormal kidneys, chronic lung disease and two holes in her heart, and doctors believed she would only last a matter of hours.

Doctors also revealed that she won't be able to breathe on her own, after having to make 11 visits to the intensive care unit at Birmingham Children's Hospital since birth.

In June last year her dad Stuart, 39, received another sad news that she wasn't going to live beyond the age of five without a new kidney.



After the whole family was tested, it was only Penny's granddad John, 64, who shared her rare rhesus negative blood type. The doting granddad-of-four, who lives with wife Vicky, 63, in Evesham, Worcs, had his kidney taken out at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on June 2, in what is thought to be the biggest age gap between donor and patient.

He and Penny, who lives with her parents in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, have now recovered fully from their operations.

Taking to its Twitter account, the ministry revealed that Wo which featured a line were Olamide mentions cigarettes contravenes Nigeria’s laws on Tobacco advertising, promotion & sponsorship.

According to them, the video promotes a dangerous habit that encourages second-hand smoking.

Former Nigerian vice - president, Atiku Abubakar has condemned those issuing quit notices and counter quit notices to fellow Nigerians in various parts of the country , saying they were misguided.

He said retaliatory quit notices will only make Nigeria , a blind nation asked for the restructuring of the country that will place premium on state residency , as done in the United Arab Emirates.

In a statement issued by his Media Office, Atiku said he was sad that there has been a counter quit notice issued in reaction to the unfortunate initial notices issued by some misguided youths in July of this year.

“ Just as I strongly condemned the quit notice on people of the Igbo ethnic stock living in Northern Nigeria and the counter quit notices that ensued , I also vehemently condemn the retaliatory quit notice given by certain elements in other parts of Nigeria to persons of other origins be they Northern , Yoruba or any other ethnic grouping within our nation.

“ First and foremost, it is a fallacy to believe that there are people of Northern or Southern origin .Nigeria only has people of one origin . We are all of Nigerian origin .

“ As Nigerians , we must be pragmatic enough to realise the obvious truth that an eye for an eye will leave Nigeria blind.

“ Let me at this juncture remind these “quit noticers ” that when brothers fight to the death over a domestic dispute , it is their neighbours that eventually end up inheriting their father ’s property.

“ It is also for this reason, amongst others, that I have urged and still urge that Nigeria should be restructured and that state of origin ought to be removed from our constitution and other relevant laws and policies , to be replaced by state of residency.

“ If we as Nigerians are tied to our residency, rather than the state where our ancestors originated from, this whole idea of quit notice would not have arisen in the first place.

“ Let us remember that though we have many ethnic nationalities in Nigeria, we are all largely of one race. In the United Arab Emirates, foreigners exceed the native Emiratis in number , yet the UAE is one of the most peaceful nations on earth. If people of different races can live in peace in South Africa and the United States , why can ’t we do the same here?

“ In fact , I posit that we can and should do the same.

“ Finally, let me use this opportunity to commend the National Broadcasting Commission and the National Orientation Agency for taking steps to sanction radio stations that were guilty of playing the Igbo hate song and for embarking on an anti -hate speech drive .

“ Nigeria is our only country and our value as human beings is tied to the value of Nigeria . So if we must give ourselves value , we must first give Nigeria value ”.

Many people today understand the church as a building. This is not a biblical understanding of the church. The word “church” comes from the Greek word ekklesia which is defined as “an assembly” or “called-out ones.” The root meaning of “church” is not that of a building, but of people. It is ironic that when you ask people what church they attend, they usually identify a building. Romans 16:5 says “… greet the church that is in their house.” Paul refers to the church in their house—not a church building, but a body of believers.

The church is the body of Christ, of which He is the head. Ephesians 1:22-23 says, “And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” The body of Christ is made up of all believers in Jesus Christ from the day of Pentecost (Acts chapter 2) until Christ’s return. The body of Christ is comprised of two aspects:

1) The universal church consists of all those who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. “For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink” (1 Corinthians 12:13). This verse says that anyone who believes is part of the body of Christ and has received the Spirit of Christ as evidence. The universal church of God is all those who have received salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

2) The local church is described in Galatians 1:1-2: “Paul, an apostle … and all the brothers with me, to the churches in Galatia.” Here we see that in the province of Galatia there were many churches—what we call local churches. A Baptist church, Lutheran church, Catholic church, etc., is not the church, as in the universal church—but rather is a local church, a local body of believers. The universal church is comprised of those who belong to Christ and who have trusted Him for salvation. These members of the universal church should seek fellowship and edification in a local church.

In summary, the church is not a building or a denomination. According to the Bible, the church is the body of Christ—all those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation (John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 12:13). Local churches are gatherings of members of the universal church. The local church is where the members of the universal church can fully apply the “body” principles of 1 Corinthians chapter 12: encouraging, teaching, and building one another up in the knowledge and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

An Akure Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a middle -aged man, Busuyi Ajibola, to two months ’ imprisonment for stealing cobs of maize worth N 1 , 000.

The convict was said to have committed the offence at Ago Ego on Idanre Road, Akure , the Ondo State capital on July 30, 2017.

Ajibola, who was described as a notorious thief that had allegedly carried out numerous ‘operations’ in Akure and its environs , faced one -count of stealing . The prosecution said the offence committed by the convict was contrary to and punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code Cap 37. Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria , 2006 .

While the convict pleaded guilty to the one -count when it was read to him , his counsel, Grace Obanigba , urged the court to temper justice with mercy , pleading that the convict was a family man and that the court should consider his wife and children.

In her judgement, the magistrate, Mrs . Oluwafunmi Edwin, said on a closer look at the charge and the fact of the case, it was glaring that the convict committed the act deliberately, thus, he was found guilty . She then ruled that Ajibola should be jailed for two months.

The Inspector -General of Police , Ibrahim Idris , has described the incessant cases of kidnapping in the country as a complex task for the police to tackle .

Idris identified shortage of police manpower and the building of schools and houses in isolated areas as some of the factors that made kidnapping a difficult crime to tackle by the police .

The IG spoke during a courtesy visit to The Radio Place , headquarters of Punch Nigeria Limited on the Lagos -Ibadan Expressway on Thursday .

Responding to a question about kidnapping and killings by a notorious cult called Badoo, Idris said the police were working on improving security in the coastal areas between Lagos and Port Harcourt , the Rivers State capital, by acquiring more gunboats for patrol .

He, however, added that their job had been made more difficult because of the choice of some people to build houses and schools in desolate areas , especially in the bush .

He said, “ We are trying to improve and enhance how we deal with criminality in the coastal areas , not only Lagos , but from here to Port Harcourt and one of our strategic plans is to better equip our marine police .

“ We are trying to acquire more gunboats so that we can be very effective and visible in these coastal areas — somebody will build a school in an isolated bush.

That is why we said when you are looking at criminality, you have to also look at some factors and try to address those factors as a whole and not always point at the police .

“ There is a limit to what we can do; if you go and build your house in the bush, we are talking of personnel , you cannot put policemen in every school . If we do that , we are going to have a problem in addressing other issues .

“ There are some basic utilities that a school requires — closed - circuit television cameras . Put some things there to fortify the school . If the location is bad , make sure you fortify the school . You can have a security department ; hire more security men on the ground . But nobody looks at some of these factors. ”

The IG also noted that more attention should be paid to dealing with delay in criminal trials in courts and factors that push youths into crime .

Speaking on the continued detention of an alleged kidnap kingpin , Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike , a .k .a. Evans , who had yet to be charged to court , Idris said the police deserved “credit ” for the arrest , while promising that the suspected kidnapper would be given a fair trial.

The Senate Joint Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff and Marine Transport, have threatened to issue a warrant for the arrest of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Glo Mobile and other blue chip companies that failed to honour its invitation to appear before its investigative panel on their alleged complicity in N30 trillion revenue probe. About 30 companies have been invited by the senate for their alleged involvement in fraudulent activities while importing some of their goods into the country. The senate had recently mandated its Joint Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff and Marine Transport to investigate the alleged N30 trillion revenue leakages in Forex and the entire import and export value chain between 2006 and 2017.

Of the 30 Chief Executive Oficers invited to appear before the senate today, only 14 of them were present. Chairman of the senate committee on Customs. Excise and Tariff and Marine Transport, Hope Uzodinma, said the refusal of the CEOs to honor its invitation was unacceptable. He asked them to appear before the committee on Thursday August 3rd and that failure to do so, the committee will be forced to mandate the police to issue a warrant of arrest for the erring Chief executives.

Among the CEOs that were expected to appear before the senate's investigation panel include the CEOs of British American Tobacco Company, CCEC Nigeria Ltd, Dana Group, African Wire and Allied Ltd, Admiral Overseas Nigeria Ltd, Aarti Steel Nigeria Ltd, Gagsel International, Fries Land Capina, Etco Nigeria Ltd, Encounter Ltd, Edic Chemicals &Allied Distributors Ltd, Don Climax Group and De United Foods.

An eight- year-old girl and a man were killed while sunbathing when a small plane plummeted on to a crowded beach in Portugal on Wednesday , apparently due to engine failure.

The plane made little noise as it skimmed low over hundreds of people on Sao Joao da Caparica’s sands , about 20 kilometres ( 12 miles ) south of Lisbon, witnesses told Portuguese media.

“ It happened very fast , there was no chance to prepare … to run, ” Enrique Coelho, who was playing with his son at the beach and saw the plane crash , told cable news station SIC Noticias .
The victims were hit by the plane , the commander of the port of Lisbon, Jose Isabel , told reporters at the scene .

The girl was with her parents , who were unhurt , witnesses said.

The two occupants of the plane were unhurt and were led away by police for questioning .

The plane , a Cessna CS- AVA, had been rented by the Aviacao Aerocondor flight training school in Cascais , a seaside town near Lisbon , the school said in a statement .

“ The plane was carrying out a training flight with a student and a senior instructor , who had a great deal of experience ,” it said.

The instructor could be heard telling a control tower that the plane had suffered engine failure and was going to make an emergency landing, according to a recording broadcast on Portuguese television .

Beachgoers surrounded the plane after it crash landed and confronted its two occupants , the images also showed .

The plane appeared to have a partly broken left wing, which hung lower than the right wing .
