Sports / Re: Manchester United Offer Hojlund Plus Cash For Osimhen by ProphetofOdin: 11:31am On Jul 01
This news is ridiculously fake and untrue. Osimhen is a great striker but doesn't fit the profile Manchester United are looking for right now. And the fact that Hojlund is younger with a future potential and resell value than Osimhen. Ineos are not ready to pay ridiculous prices for players right now.

Truthfully, Nigerian league has greatly improved in the last 3years with quite a good number of followership. I dey even follow my local team calabar rovers for nnl bumper to bumper these days. And I still codedly love enugu rangers too.
If we keep supporting our own league it would only get better.

I just have this strong feeling that we are sitting on a time bomb right now, Tinubu and his cabinet members need to sit up before it escalates, I sure know they're grossly incompetent but they need to do something about the food crisis for a start.
Politics / Re: Fresh Bill Seeks The Creation Of 3 More States In The South-West by ProphetofOdin: 5:09pm On Feb 13
Useless bill that's dead on arrival. The present states can not even sustain themselves, you want to add more. Most of the stages in Nigeria now are glorified local govt areas.

For those asking, the school is located in sagbama bayelsa state and owned by Seriake Dickson former governor of bayelsa state and present senator. So you can now understand why they can confidently benchmark school fees in dollars.

Business / Why Are Small Businesses Folding Up In Their First One Year In Nigeria by ProphetofOdin: 10:46am On Jan 26
To most people they get alarmed when big corporations are folding up or repatriating out of the country, but to an average economist we see beyond that and only panic when small businesses are folding up, because we know this is the actual economic lifewire of any country.
I do this thing all the time, when a plaza open up in kubwa I visit the plaza and count the number of small businesses that are set up which are usually; Boutiques, bet shop, wine shop, pub, dry cleaning, and a few others. I monitor this businesses over a year period.
And guess the businesses that are most likely to survive the first year; the betting and the pub shop.

SO, WHY ARE THESE BUSINESSES FOLDING IN THE FIRST ONE YEAR?
before I dabble into that, yesterday I was at a barbers shop(he has been my personal barber in the last 4years, I am that loyal cos he's the only guy that knows how to handle my bald hair😅😅), when got there I noticed he was not having light, so I asked him what happened to his inverter, and he said "oga dem burgle my shop oooo, steal my inverter". The total package of this inverter is about 1.2m,and he bought it on hire purchase, To say the least I was angry and sympathetic to his plight.

Now, The barber pays tenement rate, business operations levy, state taxes to the government The govt. Failed to provide roads for him, he improvised.
They failed to provide electricity, he improvised.
They failed to provide a conducive business environment, yet he improvised.
How could a serious govt fail in something as basic as security for it citizens even if it has failed in other aspect of it responsibility?

Yet, we see politicians jumping from pillar to post, on a goose chase looking for foreign investment.
The foreign investors are not morons. You strangle small businesses with multiple taxation, bad economic policies, and corruption and yet you expect this businesses to thrive? C'mon let's stop joking and get serious as a country.

chatinent:

If this tribalistic post makes you feel any better and was true, there was no need to seek group validation...only of course, due to inferiority complex...and dark envy.

Don't get me wrong, I know that you and your Nairaland cohorts are notorious for dick measurements always with attempts to provoke, and ridicule.

Just like the user below me too! Isn't it funny even Jesus was in the middle of two kinds of people too? Look at his post:

You want a people to leave their investments for you in their own country? You for kuku carry gun naw. Organised ole buruku.

Is dark humour only what you contribute to the GDP? Yet you brag with a state that the whole Nigeria developed! Not even as though you are from the State! It's always attachee by force.

Under the constitution, anyone is allowed to live anywhere and everyone lives anywhere! If other countries are this hostile to your japa dreams, you call it racism! But see the common blacks against the common blacks! Little wonder South African whites no longer want to be together with blacks.

Why chestbeat for someone else in your tribe? Wetin you mah don do for your name to be glorified? When you see your tribal man celebrated, instead of appreciating them and leave, you coin a post to cause war...cos it makes your poor brain feel good when the only thing you have achieved in your tribe is being a popular online tribalistic nuisance.

Oh, before I forget, I can guarantee you are free to respond to this, but I cannot guarantee a feedback from me. So after you respond, come back here and read again...that's my response.

I am from Lagos and even though I don't live there, I preach against bad politicians from anywhere. I don't have to instigate one tribe over another to feel good! The Yoruba-Igbo thing y'all started during the elections, e never clear for your eyes? I hope Tinubu's administration is a feel-good for you, yeah? I have nothing against Tinubu as a Yoruba man, I am against Tinubu as a bad politician (evident from his administration currently), same way I am against Obi (evident from his administration in Anambra) and Atiku (evident from being a VP) because I know the trio are only politicians who'd play any script to cling onto power.

But you? You are an oh-yes member when poison is from your tribe. You are like the tortoise in the ancient folklores...a wise fool. I'm ashamed at you what you bring to forex; online thuggery, tribalism, and neverdowellism. Clap for yourself, President Polythene Bag.

Develop your mentality! No one stops you from being useful too!

To humans, your mentality shows you are a political too! Even a blind man sees through your political blindness.

Don't mistake cheap likes and shares given to you for a Kabiyesi bow....then return to Twitter posting your Opay details for any flying giveaways!

You are growing but not developing inwardly. Prov. 26:27, son. Let's pray.

I wish I could like this post a billion times. This tribal bigots need to be properly educated and shamed if they refuse to learn.
Family / Re: Wife Takes Sick Husband To Edo Hospital, Abandons Him There For Over 6 Months by ProphetofOdin: 4:19pm On Jan 05
Help people in your family, no.

Identify with your family, no.

Identify with your community, no.

Identify with people in your environment, no.

Go to the village from time to time, no.

Join cooperatives, no.

Join social clubs and meet people, no.

I don't feel sorry for this type of people. We are Africans and communal in nature and you can not just discard your roots cos you're in the city.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Angola Exits OPEC by ProphetofOdin: 4:36pm On Dec 21, 2023
nairalanda1:
Anyone hailing Angola on leaving OPEC...should know it is bad news for Nigeria.

Oil prices fell on the news. Know what that means? It means Angola is free to produce and pump as much oil as it wants without any pesky OPEC quota...which means lower oil prices long term because of the resultant glut.

Angola is also free to sell crude at a lower price than the OPEC benchmark if it wants...especially if it needs the money now. (That's part of how Russia survives US sanctions, sports fans).

This weakens our revenue stream drastically, meaning we have to take more and more loans, or the government would have to raise your taxes well well, in the short term at least.

So, don't rejoice.

Modified

The thing that even scares me is the fact that everyone is discovering oil. Zambia, Uganda and even Benin have all found oil. Yes, it is not as high as Nigeria, but more oil in the market means lower prices for oil...which means lower revenue.

Modified 2

Know who benefits from a glut induced low crude price? Europe and the USA. It enables fuel prices there to fall, and their governments benefit as a result.

If that is the case we should diversify and heavily invest into other sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, or tourism which has a potential employing more people and giving us a balanced of trade when we export our produce. Crude oil is no longer viable in the long run.
