My dear Champs.... i'm afraid to drop the name because that was probably why they removed my post. I don't know how the PM thing works with this new NL design, i would have sent you a personal message with the name. But i have to add this other information. Diabetes also have big effect on the count and motility of the swimmers especially if insulin is being used to control it! |

camrygmail: pslm23 no vex my sister. but i did not include any prescription doses! I only mentioned the name of a medication my husband was using that caused me the heart break i went through and still am going through today. For them to remove that post is wrong. We are all on a journey here, someone might be using that same medication without knowing the horrendous damage it is causing. Do you know what it feels like to find out that your husband went from have millions of swimmers with great motility to a big fat zero..NOTHING swimming at all in a matter of 8 months that he was on that medication which he started using unknown to me. I love to look up things online especially medications and their side effects, if i had known he was using it, i'd have looked it up and stopped him. Anyway, my egg retreival happened smoothly. i had 6. All 6 have been frozen because my husband no longer has any swimmers. We are now contemplating using a donor from a S.Bank. Life is a learning field, we all learn from what other people are going through. If any of your husbands are on any medication, please check and find out what kind of side effects it will have on his count. I'm suffering greatly because of what has happened. I have not been to work in over 3 weeks. I am so depressed.... I am leaving for Nigeria in a week and i will stay there for maybe a month till this feeling passes, but i can't function properly anymore! Baby dust and sticky vibes to all you beautiful preggy moms and moms to be! Love y'all! 1 Like |

Who is the moderator in this health forum? Can i ask why my post was hidden? It is very annoying and rude of you guys to just delete or hide meaningful posts that are relevant to the subject at hand. What did i say wrong? When i first started this thread, y'all banned me for no good reason and now because i shared what i went through during my most recent IVF procedure, you delete or hide my post? Well done! I hope y'all feel proud and accomplished today by doing that! Hide this or delete it if you feel like it! |

Hi ladies. i don't even know where to begin. Egg retreival was very successful. I had 6 viable healthy eggs collected but i tell ya, the devil is really trying to break my faith but we shall see who will have the last laugh. Bottomline, my eggs are being frozen right now because just like that, my husband's semen analysis came back with zero sperms....not even one! I have been in a depressed and almost zombie like state... catatonic is the word for it. i stopped going to work, eating and wanting to do anything. Now they are trying to figure out what caused the problem. The have narrowed everything down to 1 culpri, his Androgel testosterone cream. I am pissed at the doctor who prescribed this and did not tell us that one of the major side effects was low or no sperm count! i'm like seriously?? and then i went off on my husband because i didn't even know he was using this cream and i wanted to know why. i did a research on Androgel and found out that it is a Testosterone topical gel used to treat the symptoms of low testosterone in men who do not produce enough natural testosterone. Testosterone is a hormone that is usually produced by the body that is needed for the growth and functioning of the male sexual organs! So what the heck was he using it for? there is nothing wrong with his male organ so who or what was he doing this for? I'm so sorry ladies, i am so upset, i need to vent. To cut the long story, in October, i am using a donor sperm! My clinic put me in touch with several sperm banks around Califonia and PA and it was a very tasking job trying to find a suitable donor. There are no African/nigerian donors, virtually all the donors are mixed caucasians.. I can't believe it has come to this! Should i just give this up! I'm tired. Maybe this wasn't meant to be! i don't know anymore. God bless you all and for those of you who have had success, I wish you the best and lots of happiness and love. You all were so encouraging and we became a family of sorts here, sharing our pains and being there for each other. My heart is broken but i'll be fine. Baby dust to y'all and sticky vibes to my pregnant friends! Happy 9 months! |

VENUSS: baby dust to you all. i hope to start next month hopefully, will join you ladies then. please if you have any info on ways to reduce high fsh, and better tips on achieving BFP this year, dont hesitate to share the info. By God's grace you'll be starting this journey next month! It is an exciting experience believe me! It can be overwhelming at times but the positive end result is what we all are aiming for. I will ask my nurse tomorrow for any info on how to reduce high fsh. I do not have that problem so i can't realy give you any personal tips on how to reduce it. FOr me, the only tips i can give for a better chance of a BFP, is (1) Be very prayerful and commit the whole thing to God's hand (2) If you haven't started taking pre-natal vitamins, start it now and take it everyday. (3) eliminate whatever is a huge stress giver in your life or find a way to reduce it (4) eat healthy. cut back on your carbs, eat more leafy veges and fruit (5) start walking. Even if it's 1 mile a day, start doing some kind of excercise. (6)if u drink coffee or any other caffeinated drink, stop completely or cut down on how many cups you drink. If i can remember more tips, i'll pass it along. Baby dust to us all! 1 Like |

double blessing: It is well Pslm 23 and Abibyy, our efforts will not be in vain in Jesus name. I'm on suprefact injection and primolut N(started a week ago). I just used the last of the primolut this evening..I'm so overwhelmed with everything;in between, just got a more demanding job description and I'm 4hrs away from the clinic I'm using, hmmm, all is well.. double blessing, i'm so happy you have started stimming too. I've never heard of the protocol meds you're using. I'm on a higher dose of Menopur ad Gonal-F. I will be doing the injections until next week when hopefully i'll have enough follicles of perfect size and then i can take the trigger shot and do the retrieval. Try not to get too overwhelmed please.. The last thing any of us on this IVF journey needs is stress..from home or from work.. 4 hours is quite a distance to drive, hopefully, you have some paid vacation or personal days that you can use. My IVF clinic is 10 mins away from my office and every 2 days since starting the injections, i have to go in for monitored b/work and ultrasound so i cordinated them for early in the morning on my way to work. On the day of the retrieval and transfer, i will be taking some of my vacation days. i am determined not to let anything stress me out including annoying co-workers. Even my husband is going away for that weekend with his friends. Take it real easy especially now that you are stimming, your ovaries are going to start swelling from all the follicles they are creating. Wear flat shoes from now on and super comfortable clothing. Stay off your feet as much as possible. I'll keep you in my prayers...xoxoxo 2 Likes |

hmmmm... so coconut rice is thai food? Anyway sha, in my head it is Igbo food and it feels better thinking it's of Nigerian origin I'm still torn about the origin of moi moi! Either way, it is a delicious meal but hard to prepare. The thought of skin washing alone will make someone like me abandon the idea of making akara or moi moi |

My late grandmother(from Rivers State) told me this: Coconut rice was staple with the igbos during the war. They had lots of coconut trees and rice and salt and pepper. so one day, someone decided to cook rice differently for the starving children and people and coconut was used. Now, if coconut rice was cooked way before the Biafran war in some other country, I do not know but all my life I've come to believe that it started with the igbo people during the war. Moi moi: It might be a Yoruba dish and again it might not be. All my life, all the moi moi that i've eaten came from the Igbo's. I've eaten something prepared by the Yoruba's that looks like moi moi but isn't moi moi. This one is softer and more peppery and sticks to the teeth. Is Agidi an igbo food? Ofe N'sala is igbo N'ri oka is igbo Ofe Onugbu is igbo Ngwogwo is igbo (but i won't be caught dead eating it... isn't this intestines of a goat or cow?) |

Tonight I start the BC pills for 14 days, AF to show by the 15th day, U/sound and B/work by day 16th. Tomorrow or next, I will post the list of injectable protocol they are putting me on this time. Possible retrieval and transfer will be last week of July. My greatest fear now is OHSS. I went through hell and back the last time. The roller coaster ride starts again! May God's will be done! |

This site is highly addictive. The last time i felt this kind of "pull" was when I joined Facebook some years ago. The company i work for was sold to some Jordanians who immediately blocked everything including google maps (WTF??) I thought i'd never see NL again but surprise, surprise, i still have it and i can say i put in at least 2.5 hours on NL within my 8 hr work day. Luckily for me, if our IT dept looks they won't see any history of everyday NL visits because the new Internet Explorer we have here has what is called In Private Viewing and from that private tab, I can go to NL anytime and there'll be no cookies or history of me being there. I'm at work now sending this message instead of doing my work! NL wan kill me 2 Likes |

I forgot to give my own update. Sorry. My clinic is currently on shut down. The do this every quarter to service all their machines and equipement. They will be reopening next month and I am scheduled to start stimming in August. While waiting for them to re-open, hubby and I are getting all our blood work and analysis done. For the first time in months, i'm getting excited again at the thought of another IVF. God's will be done! @ pizzashaw, It is well... i look at everything that happens in our lives as a stepping stone to greater things. For your husband to act the way he did during a time when he knew you needed him most, that was wicked and callous. But maybe God had a reason for removing him from your life. You are still young and believe me; you'll have cause to smile again. Don't give up and keep pushing on. Your surgery, did it happen in Nigeria? I ask because your story and mine are so similar in nature. My whole problem started with a surgery I had back in Nigeria. I did not know the extent of what they did to me until I started this IVF journey and it was during my laparoscopy that the problem was discovered. My doctor said and I quote “It looked like you were butchered on the inside” I had horrible scar tissues that had fused both tubes and adhered them to my bladder and it was while in the process of trying to get to my tube that my bladder was punctured and what was supposed to be a 45 min surgery turned out into almost 6 hours cos they had to call for a Urologist surgeon and wait until he got there. I was even told that I “died” twice on that table and had to be resuscitated because I was given too much anesthesia. In all I spent 6 days and 5 nights in that hospital. Ask me what the surgery I had in Nigeria was for? It was to remove an ovarian cyst and then I don’t know what else the doctor was looking for slicing all over my insides because when I woke, he told me they also removed my appendix because it looked like it w as enlarged. Only God in heaven knows what else was cut and removed! I only found out months later that the doctor who performed my surgery was an ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON!! The Gyn surgeon did not show so while I was on that table all prepped, they called the only other surgeon around. Kai, I have suffered! @Blendy, CONGRATULATIONS IN LEAPS AND BOUNDS! The God who answered your prayer shall surely answer ours. Amen. @ double blessing, this one AF no gree show, u sure say no be belle? Have you done a pregnancy test? Abeg check oh! You might even need IVF in the long run! It is well! @abibby, me and you had the same tubal blockage diagnoses too. This is becoming a common cause of fertility problems for a lot of us women. The problem is even compounded when surgery for something as minor as appendicitis ends up causing adhesions and bad scar tissues. Na wa oh! it is well my sister. My sisters, I tell you, until someone has walked in shoes, they’ll never understand what are going through to become mothers. Let’s all keep this IVF thread of ours alive to share our experiences. All we have going for us right now is hope and faith in God and we will never lose it. I know soon we all will be smiling like crazy soon and saying “thank you BABA God! Hugs to all you beautiful soon to be mamas! 1 Like 2 Shares |

I haven't been to Nigeria in 4 years. it's sad that the last 2 times i went was to bury my dad and mom For my dad's burial i spent a total of 3 weeks...(the funeral lasted a whole 2 weeks!! haba! and the deceased family are required to be there at all times....! For my mom, i only spent 10 days in the East because i didn't have enough vacation and personal days left. I would just love to visit and spend like 15 days not for funeral or wedding or naming ceremony, but just to hang out with my family and friends, drink tea from mai shayi, eat suya, eat mamput, eat correct home made bitterleaf soup, ukazi soup, beans and plantain, rice and stew, jellof rice, akara, moi moi, ijebu bread (and chew stone in the process )......hmmmm! I'm seriously homesick oh! but by God's grace, Naija will feel my footprint come December! Travelling home can be fun but at the back of your mind you're also praying that armed robbers won't attack you, or you won't fall into the hands of trigger happy policement looking for "kola", or you won't have accident, or plane won't fall on your house while you're in it, or boko haram won't decide to visit your neighborhood or even that snake won't bite you, etc.... |

olikili: @ Psalm 23 your story inspired me to go along with ivf have being ttc for 4 year found out that DH had low fluid and motility issues although it was difficult to convince him it was the way to go i started the procedure on the 11th of april at lily hospital in warri delta state nigeria the clinic was good and the staff friendly always leting u know at each point what's happening what i liked most is that they tell you the the whole proceedure is in God's hand and that they can only do their best. every thing went smoothly only felt headaches, restless and had sleepless nights sometimes eventually had my ER on the 6th and transfer on the 8th heard so much about the two weeks wait being horrible but for me i was just so sure that God has done it and was very relaxed and by the time i went back for the test is was bfp and God has been sustaining me ever since To God be all the Glory! Congratulations Olikili! I'm sooooo happy for you and i know that the He who did it for you through this process will do it for the rest of us going down this same road! I am encouraged by your testimony and will keep trying until the very end! I haven't posted anything here for a while because there is really nothing to say...for now! sorry, i forgot to mention my height: 5'6 199 lbs target weight goal: 175 lbs Exercise: None (i go for physical therapy 3x a week to strengthen my core due to the back injury. PT has helped flatten my stomach sha i'm even begining to have a 6 pack) I'm lactose intolerant so it's always been soy or almond milk for me. recently they found out that Almond milk has more protein than regular cow milk... Last week i learnt how to make my own almond milk from scratch so that's what i do. Raw almond nuts is extremely good for the digestive system. It also acts like a natural laxative for me and cleans me out good. I eat my almonds with dried cranberry fruit. |

I'm glad i decided to visit the Health forum today (on company time ) I'm also ttc'ing but going the IVF route. On my first IVF journey, because of the injectables and other hormonal meds i was on, my weight like tripled. I was a whooping 250 pounds. Even though my fertility doc didn't talk about my size or tell me i needed to loose weight, i knew it had to come off before my next IVF cycle began. I'm not a big fan of excersise and can't really do much cos of my back problem, so the first thing i did was get rid of all things sweet, no more bread (and i used to eat only wheat but in my head now, bread is bread), no more potatoes. i'm addicted to rice so i switched to brown rice (more healthier). No more fried food or fast food places, I cook with only olive oil (even though it has no taste). No more soda/pop. After maybe a month of all that change, I think all i lost was maybe 5 pounds. I weighed myself on the 23rd of Dec last year and was shocked to find out that i had put back the weight i lost plus jara! On the 25th (christmas day) i went Vegan. No more meat or anything made from meat or fish product. My daily food intake consists of 85% vegetables, 10% carbs and 5% fruits. It was a really hard and radical process but i was determined that in 2012 i will not have this weight when i start my second IVF journey. It paid off. I'm 199 pounds now. I still have like 20 more pounds to go before i reach my ideal weight goal. Also, i don't pay attention to the BMI calculation! I believe it was designed for white people and not African women. When i wasn't that heavy, the BMI was calling me Morbidly Obese. Anyway, I'm glad Rocksqueen started this topic. A lot of us ttc'ing ladies are going through a lot mentally; so anything out there that will give us a glimmer of hope and encourage us to keep pressing forward while making changes in our lifestyles so we can achieve our heart desires to be mothers, we will do. God bless us all...and our patient hubbies who have to deal with the weight gains, mood swings and everything else. 1 Like |
Family / Child Abuse.....what Would You Do? by pslm23(f): 1:47pm On Apr 20, 2012 |
One day you wake up and it hits you, 34 years ago you were se.xually molested as a child starting from age 7 or 8 until age 11 by (1) your nanny and (2) "uncles". You couldn't tell your mom or dad becos "Nkechi" the nanny says she'll beat the crap out of you if you talk and "uncle "A" and "B" keep buying you dolls and candy and telling you that's how grown folks show love to children. These memories have been repressed for a long time, but something you saw recently has triggered off these memories. You do a quick search and find out that these people are still very much alive and can be contacted, do you call them and tell them that you remember what they did and how they stole your innocence? Do you arrange for some thug filled beating to be carried out on them? Do you see a shrink because you now know why you have been so gullible with men and always turn a blind eye to their descretions because you think they "love you" when they dis-respect you. What would you do? I am asking for only mature responses please. As much we all pretend like this type of thing doesn't happen, it does. Children are being abused daily by those closest to them. Children are afraid to "report" these crimes to their parents because they fear they might be called liars or even whupped. Children are afraid that "uncle" or "aunty" will punish them. Some children have not been told that nobody except mummy and daddy can see "your pee pee" and if anybody else touches it or wants to see it, say NO and scream if they try to force you. |
