Car Talk / Re: Man Smashes His £100,000 BMW M6 In Protest About Car’s Reliability by Qc1(m): 6:43am On Sep 19, 2013
Hi

This gentleman is my hero. I wish I can do the same to mine! Although I don't have an X6 but I drive a 2008 X5 4.8i. Don't get me wrong, this is an awesome machine to drive especially of you have the 'M' series with and adaptive drive however, it is only enjoyable when it works. Believe me, you will hate this car immediately after manufacturer warranty. I've spent over $9000 in the last 12 months on about 8 repair visit to a dealer (calgary BMW). This car is very unreliable because of tons of sensors and high technologies packed under the hood. It's just not worth it at all...I wish someone will steal the car so that I can get my money back from my insurance.

brabus: Project Update

Cutting corners is a common practice in Nigeria, with developers and builders keen to reduce construction costs, often at the expense of the structural integrity/safety of the building. It is often in the places that can not be seen that these corners are cut. In this project, we are adhering to the highest possible international construction standards.

A lot have happened since I left the site on Saturday. Here are the milestones achieved already:

Plastering of the Parapet - fully completed.

Plastering of the Decking - fully completed

Plastering of the Staircase - Completed

Mechanical Final Fix - We have completed works on all the interior and exterior plumbing works for the Chateau and a pressure test (using test bucket) will be carried out tomorrow to check for leakages before we cover it up. We can't be too sure. Its professional to check everything over and over again.

Electrical wiring - All of the electrical wiring (including low voltage, TV, data/voice) for the Chateau (upper floor, ground floor, exterior security lights, grave site) have been completed in preparation for the POP ceiling to be fitted and rendering of the walls. Here's another scary area where developers and builders cut corners in Nigeria.

If I may ask, how much have you spent on this project to this stage ? Thanks

OF all the 196 nations, USA is the biggest economy followed by China. Germany represent #1 in Europe and 4th biggest economy in the world. South Africa is #1 in Africa and 27th biggest Economy in the world however Nigeria is #2 in Africa and 40th in the world.

So what do you think? Is it time for naija abroad to come back home and invest to make the country #1 economy in Africa ?

pDude: Watching this, tears welled in my eyes. cry

Nigeria is really cursed, within and without.

Like I said, as soon as I can I am burning that green passport as soon as I am able to.

I did that to my green passport once. I regret that decision because they won't issue me a visa in my blue passport when I need to travel to naija.

To them, I'm not a naija, even though my blue passport clearly stated that I was born in Lagos and my name is typical Yoruba, not to forget I was speaking with Ikorodu language.

The experience was very pathetic.

VisaOfficer:

Hello there! Well, if it's a tourist visa, your spouse should apply on her own behalf. I mean, you can fill the paperwork out for her (as long as she reviews it and can swear it's all true), but there's no petition to be filed on her behalf. She can apply in Canada if she's in Canada. Either way, best of luck!

Thanks for the reply but She's in Nigeria, I thought I could help one way or the other. Thanks again.

Greetings! The relationship with the host does not really matter, nor does the length of time the person has resided in the U.S. -- unless it's a person whose name has appeared in conjunction with previous visa applications, especially bad ones. That makes us make this face: shocked Otherwise, we just want to be sure you won't be on the street when you arrive in your new country.

Can a Canadian citizen apply for (USA) tourist visa for his spouse?

If yes, do I have to travel down to Nigeria or apply here at US consulate in Ottawa?

Thanks.

It's 31 hours driving straight . Can cut it down of you go
Through the states

It's actually 72 hours drive. I did the same without cutting through USA.
Car Talk / Re: The Longest Road Trip You've Driven? by Qc1(m): 3:26am On Aug 20, 2013
KA24DETT: Longest trip is Ottawa - Toronto - Calgary .( 3,403km) (2 days straight )
Went to visit my mom in Calgary . 1995 Nissan maxima, Car was a stick shift and my friend can't drive manual so I drove most of the way.
Drove through US, hitting Detroit -Wisconsin -Chicago -souh Dakota - Montana- Calgary . Went to a university party and picked up some girls, took them to their house and was nearly beaten up by her boyfriend who decided to pay a late night visit .
Got a speeding ticket in Dakota for going 200km/h.
Mom was scared and worried, was 21 so who cares.
Will definitely not do it again. But it was fun though .
I miss that Nissan maxima, so much memories.

What
If you go all the way on Highway #1 without going through USA that's about 4500km distance.

I'm sure gonna try to cut though Minnesota next time to save distances and gas!

From Montreal PQ to Calgary AB... about 72 hours non-stop with 100km/hr speed in my Jaguar S-TYPE with v8 engine.

I think the distance was about 4800 km.

Oh I almost forgot, I was stopped and delayed for about 2 hours by this lazy rookie cop right after the city of Thunder Bay and got a ticket for about $180. (Threw that sh@t away immediately. ..lol)

Politics / Re: Botswana Plans To Deport Nigerians? by Qc1(m): 7:33am On Aug 16, 2013
Ikengawo: The ignorance on this thread is record breaking

Botswana has the highest standard of living in Africa and is rated as the most stable government.
This is a result of neglected education for the generation of nigerians that are now old enough to travel. Nigerians have an extremely dim understanding of the rest of the world and themselves and will find themselves crawling the globe to humiliate their own lives. I don't believe it's primarily igbos by far that are leading this global foolishness, but before we start saying it's and igbo problem we have to realize it's really a national one.

Igbos are ambitious, nobody will take that from them but it's almost impossible to convince them what they own is better than what they can possiby own or have and that's what leads to their desperate nature.

Yorubas are fearful, nobody will take that from them either. A yoruba person is not going to risk what he has, even if it's very little, no matter the reward and don't typically think outside of what's theres. Many yorubas don't know there was a civil war in Nigeria.

The reason I point this difference out is because the igbo ignorance is manifesting in travelling the world blindly and becoming a nuisance and the yoruba ignorance is manifesting in not being able to think or look outside of the very narrow box they already have, hence poverty and a total ignorance of anything outside of their family and region. They typically don't want more because they don't know there's is more out there and would rather brag about whats been done that complain about the need to do more. the root of the problem is ignorance. While igbos are developing and even destroying other places, their homeland is neglected, and while yorubas are boxed in by fear their homeland remains stagnant. This is why the two regions of africa that should be the most developed, aren't.

ignorance mixed with our respective cultural nature isn't doing anything for us.

Google is your friend !!!

Check out USA, take Houston for example, Yoruba outnumbered Igbo 3:1, Check out UK, take London for example, Yoruba outnumbered Igbo 5:1. The same goes for the whole Europe. Yoruba people have been traveling since 1864, three generations before any Igbo and the gap was even widen in the 70's through scholarships...still continue today.

What are you talking about that Yoruba don't want more? Are you serious? Because Yoruba man won't go to another man's land and try to dictate and dominate it doesn't translate that that don't want more.

Please come up with a fact next time.

Let's stop tribalizing everything !

Why can't we get along?

Tundeolaniyi:

Am yoruba full blooded. Is what you mean by civilization the mud houses dotting the entire landscape of yorubaland? Let the truth be told. Remove lagos from SW, then yorubaland becomes leprous, nobody will not have anything to associate with because it will only epitomize poverty and plague. The only reason people comes to SW is because of lagos, we all know that lagos is not the making of yorubas. Let me tell you, a typical yoruba city like ibadan, abeokuta, ado ekiti, osogbo is so so backward, poverty stricken, no investment, no job. Am sorry I have to say this truth. All these yoruba cities I mentioned cannot stand side by side with places as Onitsha, Enugu, Owerri, Calabar, Akwaibo even Yenogoa. My problem is that we yorubas are always okay with little the government and individuals have done, that is why no new thing is coming except for the mud houses built 50yrs ago.

I just don't get it! why would anyone will will be crying to stay in SW rather than going back to those developed cities why? shocked

Tundeolaniyi:

Believe whatever you like it does not change the fact about my paternity. Am a full blooded yoruba from Ido Ile-Ekiti if you must know. It feel so sad when my yoruba people support evil, just like they are doing in the case of fashola. Again look at the outburst of fani kayode, are you proud of still being yoruba after his comments about the ibos? which is only succeeded in showing how bitter and frustrated he has been since he was thrown out from govt and subsequently charged him for fraud. We yorubas should condemn this evil amongst us. I must confess that Fani kayode is a disgrace and bad image to we yorubas.

That is why I said that an average omoluabi need to be traveling. Until I got to the east I thought its only lagos that is the place. East is not what we see on the internet, come here and you will respect the ibos. They are using our land as a commercial battlefield. They are really wise. An average ibo is not poor like an average Yoruba. I have come here and seen it. Am not here to argue blindly.

I've never see any Yoruba pretending to be anything but true Yoruba, even here in America we are die hard yoruba people no matter how long we've neutralized.

The Fact that this so called "Tundeolaniyi" registered merely 12 hours ago with a Yoruba username is a shame on its own, do yourself a favour and deport yourself to your village.
