PENDINGRESTORE
A domain name is placed in PENDINGRESTORE status when a registrar requests restoration of a domain that is in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status. A name that is in PENDINGRESTORE status will be included in the zone file. Registrar requests to modify or otherwise update a domain in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status will be rejected. A domain name is returned to REDEMPTIONPERIOD status a specified number of calendar days after it is placed in PENDINGRESTORE unless the registrar submits a complete Registrar Restore Report to the Registry Operator. The current length of this Pending Restore Period is seven calendar days.

Accused hacker freed on bail in $1.8M theft case

The alleged mastermind of a $1.8-million theft from a Calgary financial company has been granted bail.

Provincial court Judge John Bascom ordered Ehud Tenenbaum -- who spent time in jail for hacking into the U.S. Defence Department's computer system -- released on $30,000 cash following a bail hearing Thursday. <-- Stolen money no doubt, laugh.gif The greedy US gov would have wanted triple that,

Bascom said he was concerned about the 29-year-old's lack of ties to Calgary, but felt he could be monitored in Montreal, where he has some support.

"This individual is very skilled -- to use his abilities for good or evil," said Bascom.

Crown prosecutor Jane McClellan told court the Israeli man's computer and Internet provider address in Montreal were used to hack into computers belonging to Direct Cash Management Inc. in Calgary.

She said if it had not been for Tenenbaum leaving his computer turned on at his apartment when Montreal police executed a search warrant in his absence, they would not have been able to seize incriminating evidence.

"The tech person noted devices were done in such a way they could be turned off by a kill switch," said McClellan, who argued for Tenenbaum's detention, saying such crimes, if proved, would warrant a prison sentence of five to seven years.

"A lot of what police found is evidence that certainly connects Tenenbaum to Direct Cash and to the fraud."

When asked outside court if the Crown would appeal the release, McClellan said, "It'll have to be considered . . . other events may not make it necessary."

Although she did not elaborate, McClellan had told Bascom there are warrants out for Tenenbaum's arrest in the United States on similar charges.

Defence lawyer John James said Tenenbaum was in the computer security business and infiltrated hacker sites to obtain more information to learn new ways of protecting his clients.

"We certainly don't deny he has great talents in technology . . . but that shouldn't be held against him," said James.

"Mr. Tenenbaum has worked in the computer industry, primarily in computer security, since he was 15 or 16.

"Police will find a very significant portion of what they find on my client's computer clearly indicates his legal involvement is development for clients' Internet and corporate security."

James said it is crucial to understand how hackers work to correct weaknesses in a business's system.

McClellan said Tenenbaum was involved in obtaining pre-paid debit cards from Direct Cash, with small balances substantially increased by hacking into the system. Then, she said, the data was e-mailed to other people, and large withdrawals were made worldwide, primarily in Montreal.

The offences, she said, took place between late December 2007 and early January this year.

The judge said Tenenbaum's alleged involvement must be settled at trial.

While on release, said Bascom, Tenenbaum must live at the same Montreal apartment where his computer was seized last month and report to Montreal city police in person twice a week.

Bascom prohibited Tenenbaum from using any device that can access the Internet, and prevented him from having contact with only one of three co-accused persons in the alleged theft.

Tenenbaum may contact Priscilla Mastrangelo, whom he says is his fiancee, and Spyros Xenoulis, who is listed as his business partner.

They and another co-accused, Ralph Jean-Francois, have been released and returned to Montreal, where they were arrested in late August -- along with Tenenbaum -- and brought to Calgary to face the charges.

Investigators believe Tenenbaum was responsible for hacking into the Calgary computers, while the three accomplices were allegedly responsible for the bulk of the cash withdrawals.

Court documents indicate Mastrangelo, 30, took $32,082. Jean-Francois, 28, and Xenoulis, 33, allegedly took $6,585 and $1,001, respectively.

In 1998, when Tenenbaum was a teenager in Israel, he hacked into computers belonging to the Pentagon. He was initially sentenced in Israel to six months community supervision, but it was increased to 18 months jail in 2002.

His next scheduled court appearance in Oct. 29

1. go to control panel -> network connection.
2. right click on your ethernet connection and click on “properties”.
3. go to “advanced” tab.
4. check “allow other network…, internet connection”
5. in the drop down below select the wifi connection of your pc. if it is disabled, it will be showing your wifi connection already.
6. click on “settings”
7. check the protocols you need to share.i normally use only http and https.
8. click on “ok”.you reach the network connection page. the sharing part is now over.

finding dns server ip address.

1. click on start -> run
2. type in cmd in the run prompt
3. in the new window type “ipconfig /all” and press enter.
4. note down your dns server ip address from the screen.

configuring the wifi

1. go again to control panel -> network connections.
2. right click on your wifi connection and click “properties”.
3. go to”wireless network” tab.
4. the “use windows to configure my wireless network connection” should be checked.
5. in the preferred network connection section click on add button
6. enter a name of your wish to the network name.
7. network authentication is “open”
8. change data encryption to “disabled”
9. check the “this is a computer to computer …. not used” connection.
10. click “ok”.
11. click on general tab. select “internet protocol(tcp/ip) and click on properties button.
12. now type 192.168.0.1 in ip address, 255.255.255.0 in subnet mask, leave default gateway empty.
13. fill in the dns server entry which you had noted down earlier.
14. click on “ok” and your network is set.

your network should appear on the wifi network list now. search for wlan on your phone. connect and enjoy browsing on your phone.

Okay guys, I know a few of you want to start, and don't know where to start, so I've devised a small guide to help you on your way.

First of all, don't start off with a really 'hard' language. Start off with an easy programming language. Suggestions for these are:
- Visual Basic (6 or .NET doesn't matter)
- Java (Note: this language sucks xD)
- HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP (Even if you don't want to be a web programmer)
- Python

Okay, get familiar with these languages, take a few months on them, perhaps even go into mastering them.
When you think you have done that move onto a harder language such as,
- C++
- LISP
The good thing now you'll find is that they're easier to learn, Why? Because you've already learned
a language before and are used to them Razz

Take a while familiarizing again, practice with it, get some freelance work maybe? Get paid, okay,
now you've been doing programming for a few months-a few years, what next?

Now you go into specialist parts of programming languages. Say you wanted to be a game developer, then learn the
DirectX API for C++, say you wanted to learn how to create server and client interfaces, go into
Windows and Linux Sockets, there are millions of possibilities.

I give you this guide from experience, this is similar to what I did. If you wanna know what I did, here you are,
At age 24 I learned how to program for a game engine called RPG Toolkit 2, (because I love gaming so much)
it was very simple, but I didn't have very much computer access then (one every 2-3 weeks Neutral) it took me a while to move on.
At 25 I finally got my own computer, and learned C++, this wasn't too hard. However,
At 26 I learned Visual Basic, HTML, Javascript, CSS, PHP, and loads of others, you may be thinking why
I went to the easier languages again, this is simply because I felt if it was easier to do a job then why not.
I'm now 27 and use C++ again.

So that's the route I took, a quick example of how you could become a programmer.

In this first chapter I will explain you what PHP is, and how to start with it. At the end of this tutorial you will know how to:

- Create PHP files
- Load PHP files
- Starting PHP
- Create variables
- Use the IF function

Actually this is quite much for a first chapter, but I know that learning a language isn't fun if you can't do nice things fairly quickly. So after some basics will use the IF function for some fun stuff.


This How to create PHP files

Creating a PHP file isn't that hard; just create a text file with .php as extension. What you do with PHP is actually creating a HTML file, but you just post some parts of PHP between the HTML.

What's more interesting to know, is how to edit a PHP file. Well, you can use many editors. I even started coding in plain notepad! But there are editors who are nicer to work with, the best free editor is notepad++, you can get at http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm

With Notepad++ you will get syntax highlighting, this basically means the editors will use colors to highlight the PHP code. So a function will get a different color than some plain text, this makes it a lot more easy to read.


How to you load a PHP file?

You need a server with PHP support for this. Most paid host support it, but you won't find PHP on your free website. Wink

There are two things you can do.

One is installing Apache plus PHP on your home computer, but that can be quite a hassle.

Two is just get a webhost with PHP support, there are plenty of them online. So there is no need to install it on your own computer. I recommend you to get your own domain-name, so you can test all you want.

If you have a host with PHP support you just need to upload the PHP file the server.

Now Starting PHP

To start telling the server you are going to use PHP isn't that hard. You use the following tags to indicate PHP:

As you can see you only need to write a beginning PHP tag, and a ending tag. You can just put these in your HTML like this:

Create variables

Now lets move on to real PHP programming.

PHP uses much temporary information, lets say some test you've written in a form is also some temporary information PHP must be able to save. To save this information you need to create a variable. A variable basically is a piece of the computers RAM memory.

Let's see how you create a variable shall we?

First you should notice the dollar sign ($). This is used to let PHP know you are using a variable. Next is the name of the variable, so we've created a variable called "$person". After the name you write the content of the variable, in this example the variable "$person" contains the text "Lagosian";

The difference between text and numbers.

In PHP (and all programming languages) there is quite a difference between numbers and text. First of all in PHP you call a number an "Integer", and you call some text a "string".

Of course this is not the only difference, the main difference is how you use them in PHP. Like you've seen in the example above, to store some text into a variable you need to put quotes around them (". This is where the difference kicks in, when working with numbers you do not add quotes around them.

So let's say if I want to store my length in a variable I will wont use quotes: (in centimeters of course)

Now what if I want to combine a number with text? Well that's simple, it turns into text. You only omit the quotes when it's a pure number without some text.

This looks weird doesn't it?

What I did here is placing the $length variable in the echo. You can do this by closing the text with a quote (" and placing a point followed by the variable.

This is not so hard right? Let's move on to some real programming.

The if function

The most used function within every programming language is the If function, it's a function that compares values.

It looks overwhelming, but believe me it's very easy.

The first part is if($person == "Lagosian". This part compares "$person" with the plain text "Lagosian". So basically it's checks if the value of $person is "Lagosian".

Our variable $person contains the text "Lagosian", so this check is true. Whit this function, if it's true the code between the accolades ({ , }) is executed.

So the output of this code is:

But what if the variable does not contain "Lagosian"?

I've added else to the code. The code between the accolades of else is executed when the if is not true.

So in this example the part between else's accolades are executed. Returning the following output:

This example should be pretty clear, but I highly recommend you to write your own pieces of code to test all of your new knowledge.
