Good, I saw it coming. He is the only good interviewer among the three of them. Chamberlain and Maupe are more interested in asking questions than getting answers from the people they are interviewing. The programme cast was suffocating sulai and not allowing him shine through. I lost interest in sunrise daily a long time ago. YOUR VIEW on TVC is show that is working for me now

I swear, you took the words out of my mouth, Chamberlain and Maupe are more interested in getting questions asked than actually getting responses. They should actually rebrand the show if not death is eminent, Na so AM Express take die o,

I know all about heavy engineering.our lecturers hardly talk about the oil and gas aspect but I want to know more.I can't afford to order books online.

Fact is, you can't learn calculus without first understanding how indices and quadratic equations work.
Try to understand the building construction aspect first when you are in your penultimate year you would have gotten enlightened enough to grasp the oil and gas construction applications.
If you still fill like you want to confuse yourself, feel free. Google is your friend

My problem as a student is the measurement itself. Which i believed is the core of the Quantity Surveying profession. I am good at everything else but my measurement sucks, tho i have never fail but the grades i get isn't encouraging. Never gotten a B or A in measurement. Do you still think i can make it in the field?

I don't understand what you mean by measurement is a problem? and please it's not about getting an A or a B. it's about knowing the practical applications. plus you need mentorship. Wherever you are in Nigeria, go to the Federal Secretariat in your state capital and visit the ministry of works and housing. Ask around for a certified quantity surveyor or even sef the office of the surveyor general of your state (why I suggested your state is because bad as e bad, you will have a village person working there, to be able to break all the "Oga no dey wahala" that our civil service is clogged up in)

Mentoring doesn't mean the person would pay you o? get that out of your head. He will use you yes, but you are using him to gain practical knowledge fast.

Google the association of Certified Quantity Surveyors to know who is the President in your State's chapter.

wow..I have always wanted to know the relevance of quantity surveyors in oil and gas firms.please kindly explain

quantity surveying 101
knowing the quantity of materials needed in construction. be it a building site, road construction, pipeline laying, rig construction.
basically anywhere that a quotation for materials needed for construction is needed.

like I said before, open your books.

Governor El-Rufai is a Quantity Surveyor. A certified one at that, but he didn't get there by sorting, he knows his onions

I'm am a student of quantity surveying technology. I just wanted to know if quantity surveying is a good occupation in Nigeria because we are not given much credit in d construction industry it all goes to the architects builders and civil engineers. please graduates of quantity surveying what's your say on this and does it pay well.

it's an awesome career, that is if you read your book and know what it's about o. Its a job that deals in practical applications, if you don't know what it's about, you can't get certified, and without certification you are no where.

Kaduna state government recently got 5000 tablets from Exxonmobil in support of the states Smart school Initiative, plus the government is doing something massively in their Agricultural sector, Mining sector, plus still constructing roads and housing units plus quelling the security challenges in Kaduna South

Our Governor is building roads without drainage and is expecting applaudes, sorry o I forgot, he commissioned North-East Mega Filling station and Hotel de Copperfield (people personal business o)
Our ICT Hub has been commissioned but not functional. But as at last year August, the hubs director said publicly ( check vanguard August 10th) that the state government will inject 10billion naira before December last year into the hub.

Please, why the omission of the distance of the roads constructed in Asaba? 36 27 14 4 in the second section of your listing?
Then 22 20 19 15(please where is this 15 Abeg) 9

Then 19 and 20, I remember vividly during the delta State at 25 celebration when the governor said the construction at the Ekumeku flyover road wasn't funded by the state Government, so who was lying then?
Remember the internet doesn't forget.

You forgot to ask how he sourced capital for the implementation of his idea.
I stand to be corrected. No Nigerian Bank Give Loans To StartUp Companies. Access to funds is what is killing the Nigerian Youths.

ourchoice:
Yeah, but then every problem creates an opportunity for great minds.

I remember one Indian guy who graduated from MIIT where he went to study mechanical engineering; automotive major.

This guy didn't stay back in United States after his graduation like many Nigerian youths would do, what did he do?

He left US back to his remote community in Southern India to do what you may ask?

In his village, they didn't have government electricity but they farm.

He used the waste materials produced by his local village farmers to design a steam engine plant that converts the waste to hot steam, and he used to steam to drive/propel a locally manufactured electricity generator with very large coil that ended up producing over 300kva electricity.

This guy designed 3 of this local steam plant in his community and started giving them constant electricity, and charged the villagers some money as electricity bill.

You need to see his local office, lol

He then hired more village boys as his staff, who helped him to maintain the plants, and also hired two ladies as bill collectors.

He didn't wait for his government, he gave his people rare solution to their problem and charged them.

This happened in 2002/03.

Later, when government wanted to electrify the community, they had no option than to partner with his existing electricity power company, and now he owns a big power generation company, expanding into other communities.

But if it were a Nigerian youth, he will never do that! It's degrading to his title: A GRADUATE!!! He will rather spend his entire life planning how to get job at Chevron, Mobil, Agip, Schlumberger, etc

I am sorry to say that we Nigerian youths aren't inventive enough...if we are, we won't need government in most things, but government will be forced to work and partner with us
