Culturally, the marriage union is one of the most significant milestones in a man’s life (women inclusive). Expectedly, many people look forward to when they too will enter into the union that marks the beginning of a whole new life. In the process, they lose focus of what the essence of a marriage is and instead place it on the ceremony that merely celebrates the start of the union. I reached out to a few people I know in Lagos - the state with the highest number of Coronavirus cases and Africa’s most populated city - to find out if anyone I knew received any of the relief packages from the government and..... Nairaland / General / How Nigeria Will Change After COVID-19 Pandemic (part 1) by RCNNG: 7:02am On Apr 14, 2020 |
In Nigeria, the search light has been on the Federal and State governments' struggle to deal with the health emergency and attendant social crises brought by the ensuing economic hardship. Notions about social relationship patterns are being challenged, health workers are emerging as the new patriots of our time, religious mode of worship is radically changing, broadband is now the new king etc. While public and private institutions work tirelessly to find a way out of this conundrum, many social archetypes are significantly impacted by the pandemic in a radical but enduring way. And life definitely, will not be the same again, at the end of it all. This article reviews how Nigeria would look like in a post-Covid-19 era and the factors that could drive this change.
