Auwalu Ahmed Dankade, an employee of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO), gained widespread attention after returning $10,000 found on an aircraft at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano. He departed Kano for Lagos this morning and was warmly received by the staff of NAHCO PLC.

On Thursday, 29th August 2024, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) honoured him with the title "The Nigerian of the Week."

Auwal Dankode, an employee of Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO), found and returned $10,000 in an aircraft at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano. Dankode came across $10,000 (approximately ₦16m) while carrying out his cleaning duties, as a Cabin Cleaner, on the aircraft.

A security analyst and expert in counter-insurgency, Zagazola Makaman, also mentioned in a post on Wednesday on the X platform that Dankode, upon finding the money, immediately notified the airline company’s manager, commencing efforts to locate the rightful owner.

Dankode, hailing from Kode in Kano State, is well-known for his deep reverence for God and steadfast honesty, as mentioned by Zagazola.

Zagazola further stated that Dankode's altruistic gesture has emphasized the significance of integrity and responsibility in the workplace.

Moreover, as the search continues to ascertain the rightful owner of the misplaced money, Zagazola pointed out that Dankode's conduct stands as a compelling illustration of the beneficial effect that even minor acts of kindness can bring about.
