It is very pathetic to me each time I see different jobs seekers moving in helter-skelter for interview invites that only needs few person to employ. These job seekers spend thousands daily on Transportation in a state like Lagos where there is hike in transport fares. The state of the nation is not helping us rather, this further buttress why "Job Seekers" needs to put their destiny in their hands. Recently, I went to meet a former colleague of mine at Workforce office, the population of job seekers trooping in and out was a hit back to back. This sets of graduates cut across all the disciplines and grades like 1.1, 2.1,2.2 and what not. I wept inside of me,and asked myself; Is this the true purpose of our acquired education? My answer is CAPITAL NO!
Dear Nigerian Graduates,
This is the time to wake up from your slumber. Awaking the spirit of I can do in you. Take your destiny into your hands. Face your worst fear and conquer it for good. We are not to attend Universities, paid fees and be a slave of jobs with our education. I thought they say education is LIGHT.
We have Army of unemployed graduates littering everywhere now. This is no joke. In fact is getting more higher daily with new sets of people joining the already saturated market and THE Universities keeps admitting. Gosh! I feel like dropping right now.
The only solution to this problem bedeviling us as job seekers is to look inwards and be REALISTIC about our life. We are in the IT era where you can learn so much skills and be comfortable with that SKILLS for life. I mean a skill that can generate you 6 figures. You heard me right. 6 freaking figures!!
Make a research with your internet, go to YouTube and learn a hot skills by your research . How can a graduate be driving OKADA in this Internet age WHERE soft skills rules the world.
Don't die in servitude all in the name of I'm a BSc holder and be paid pockets sized sum as salary . The truth is jobs are scarce now! Take your destiny and build it to your taste.
The ball is in your court today. Take Charge!

Regina Daniels and billionaire husband, Ned Nwoko, cause a major stir as the duo were spotted playing romantically with each other while hanging out with family and loved ones during the Eid- Fitri celebration.

In the photo, Regina Daniels climbed on her husband’s back while onlookers who were mostly family members cheer them up as they show love and affection to each other.

The duo who only got married traditionally last week has kept social media gossips talking with their show of love and affection.

Having connections is one of the things you need to get a job. Meet people. (AARP)

If you're in the final phase of your academic pursuit and the stress and worry of finding a job after graduation is already sinking in, you've got to up your game.
Waiting for a very long time to get a job can be a very frustrating experience. If you have not been preparing for your dream job since you gain admission, it is never too late to start prepping for the labour market now.
Here are three things you need to start doing as soon as possible to increase your chances of getting a job immediately after graduation.

Small scale Business:
Things most Undergraduate student don't know is that, As an undergraduate, you have a great opportunity to meet people and make friends with them and have their contacts. Being in a University or Polytechnic will connect you with lecturers, professors and faculty members.
Don't these people as acquaintances but as potential connections, you can benefit from when the time comes.
You can also build your network online by organizing your LinkedIn profile and resume to make it look attractive and professional. If you haven't been doing this, start now.
Below are some Small scale Business you can start up that won't disturb you academically:

i. Tutoring. Are you skilled in teaching? Then you may want to deploy your skills into tutoring other students. By starting a private tutoring business, you can offer coaching sessions in the evenings and late night when college students are often up reading and studying. You can advertise your services online and also using social media especially, or you can simply solicit referrals from students in campus.
ii. Freelance writing. By now I’m guessing you know that most entrepreneurial moves usually reflects the unique skill set of the entrepreneur. So, if you’re a skilled writer and you’ve got expertise in a particular niche, you can start taking freelancing jobs. You’re at an advantage because you may not need to be in any required location to take freelance jobs. There are so many sites and blogs in need of freelance writers out there. So you can take your writing skill and start generating income for yourself.
iii. Graphic design. With the increasing number of internet users in the country, graphic design has taken a centre stage in the capacity of creating new websites, creating blogs, graphics online. Graphic design plays a huge role in web designing for the creation of banners, logos, and other similar materials needed to maximize website design. As a student in Nigeria, you can generate a lot of money from a single job. You can also do offline jobs like designing logos, business cards, brochures for organisations
iv.Ushering. A single ushering job can fetch as much as #30,000 in Nigeria. This job is a very lucrative one for students. Just sign up for ushering jobs online that is relevant to you and you can start making your money while running your education
V.Hair making. Another great way of making money while in school is making of hair, whether you’re a guy or a lady, so long as you’re skilled in hair making, it can be gainfully used to make money and generate income. Tell people by word of mouth what you do. Move into the female hostels and market yourself. Advertise using social media platforms and you’re guaranteed to make lots of money as a student.

Vi. Sports training. If you’re into sports and you’re very good at a particular sport. You should probably consider becoming a sports trainer. You can organise a fitness club and enroll members who are supposed to pay some dues as a registration fee and other required fees before they can be registered. Imagine the kind of money you can make from this business. In a society where most people absolutely love sports and are passionate about it
Vii. Blogging. This is a very good business for students to launch. And it is highly recommended for all students as it can expose them and increase their knowledge about a wide range of ideas and topics. You can make lots of money blogging about interesting topics that are educative, enlightening, and topics that meet specific needs of the readers. All you need is your laptop and access to the internet.
Viii. Event planning. Students can also go into event planning business. This is another easy way you can make money. Most events usually fall on weekdays, so this is recommended for students as it is flexible and relatively easy to startup and run.
I think with this sort of info, you've been thinking of what next to do, while doing so don't forget to add your comments. Either adding to the already made points or you commends our efforts by putting this together.

Even if I'm young I know this life is simple,at the end of it all we will all die. I'm wise enough not to worry about the fact that i aint employed yet and not having enough finances to do business. So this is what has been keeping me happy:
I pray everyday for God's peace
I smoke weed lyk 3 tyms a day
I stay away from bitcches that will bring me stress
I listen to rappers that flow hope,e.g,Talib kweli,Royce da 5'9,kendrick lamar,Joe budden,Crooked I etc.
I talk to my mum more.
I talk to my dad less
I talk to friends,so I gain information on stuffs I can fit in

To my fellow young men how have u been coping?

We all know life after the one year mandatory Nysc is no joke for graduates. Some are privileged to have job immediately after service which has kept them going. On the other hand, there are some graduates that find it so difficult in getting paid employment.

So, share your thoughts to help others that are in such dilemma or those that are about finishing their service year.

After service year life truly begins...

Truth be told a lot of Nigerian Youths today won't even take the bull by the horn even while the opportunity is staring at them right in the face.

There are opportunities, the real question is how ready are you to leave your comfort zone? How badly do you want something?

If you're a Nigerian youth or really anyone [heck, parents and aged people are even more ready than the so called youths] looking for an opportunity to change lives while making some money, send a mail to;

ruthaladi@gmail.com

Please no time wasters! If you know in your mind you're still ok with collecting money from family and friends and eating free food or complaining perpetually about Nigeria and its economy , please don't send a mail. Thanks!

What a pity party topic!

Quite morbid going through this thread. Frankly, A lot of youths today constantly pass over opportunities daily.

There are so many ways to be financially independent whilst leading a successful life...really.

Question is; if you saw an opportunity today, would you take it? Or would it be another missed opportunity? Your choice!

PL Transform is looking for young, smart, vibrant minds like a whole bunch of you on here. But you wouldn't send a mail to ruthaladi@gmail.com.

They offer an array of training programs that build you into becoming a world-class leader whilst earning great income.

It's up to you really.

P.S.: I highly recommend Reading great books like The power of your subconscious mind by Joseph Murphy because I also noticed a lot of people here speak from a starved mind.

Best wishes to all who decide to take charge of their future.

Was teaching during my service year. Finished ending of 2016. Applied and taught in a private secondary school throughout 2017. Then early part of 2018 I had a temporary job to provide safety supervision for a project offshore. The project lasted for 6 months. Later part of 2018 I commenced NPower teaching in a technical college. Apart from the above, I produce liquid detergent, aftershave, Izal, bleach, methylated spirit, and hair cream which I learnt during my NYSC. I was engaged by an ICT Academy to teach an engineering software - Aspen HYSYS - in December last year. A service that lasted for 10 days. I do home lesson, assist university students in design projects. That's how I have been surviving.

I like your tenacity. I have an opportunity to share. If interested. You really don't have to endure life. Life is meant for the living.
