The Department of State Services (DSS), has assured of its commitment to ensuring a safe and secure country, where investors and corporate organisations will operate without fear of molestation.
Director-General of the Service (DG-SS), Mr. Yusuf Magaji Bichi, gave the undertaking at an occasion to receive a state-of-the-art art Museum Complex, jointly built by two private firms –  Lubrik Construction Company and Craneburg Construction.

According to the firms, the gesture was in furtherance of their corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The private entities made the disclosure  during the ground- breaking ceremony of the project at the secret service’s headquarters in Abuja.

In his speech, Chairman of Lubrik Construction Company, Alhaji Nasiru Danu, who is also on the Board of Craneburg Construction; said the project would be fully funded by both construction companies.
This was as he adisclosed  that the project “would be completed in 16 months, and would meet all international standards”.

Danu urged private organisations to encourage security agencies by carrying out projects that would spur them to do more in the execution of their mandates.

In his response, the DGSS thanked the management of Lubrik Construction and Craneburg Construction, assuring of maximum utilisation of the multi-million naira project.

Politics / VIDEO: If 1,000 Policemen Invade My House, Hardly 'll 100 Return – Sunday Igboho by Rehimusals: 8:25pm On Jul 05, 2021
Self-styled Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, has said in a video that he cannot be intimidated or arrested by security agents in Nigeria.
Sunday Igboho was seen in the video boasting that if 1,000 policemen come to his house in Ibadan to arrest him, hardly 100 of them return to their base.

According to him, if a hundred of the 1,000 policemen manage to escape his judgment, it might be that they disappear spiritually.

His words: “If you want to arrest me, come. I live in Soka. Make sure you come with a net and wheelbarrow. And don’t come at night. If about 1,000 of you come at night, if 100 return, it means you use spiritual powers to disappear. I am not the type that can be intimidated by the police,” Sunday Igboho boasted in the video.

Rehimusals:
Hoodlums have chopped off the manhood of Matador from Orsu Iheti Ukwa in Imo State.
The man was seen tied in a viral video horizontally to a stick and subjected to inhuman treatment by the suspected hoodlums.
The hoodlums were heard accusing him of being a saboteur responsible for military bombardment of Orlu during an encounter with the Easterner Security Network (ESN), the security arm of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)
It was learnt the man, in his late 50s, was picked by masked men in a dramatic operation along Okigwe roundabout, Owerri on Saturday.
Matador, said to be former Special Assistant to a House of Representatives member, was tied to a stick covered in a pool of his blood after his manhood was severed.
A background voice in the video accused him of allegedly leading military operation that led to the death of many people in Orlu.
Imo Commissioner of Police Abutu Yaro confirmed the Command “is aware of the iniquitous and obscene video that has gone viral on social media where, a man was seen tied horizontally to a stick undergoing inhuman act by some suspected hoodlums.”
In a statement by Imo Police spokesman CSP Michael Abattam, Yaro said the Command has commenced investigation into the viral video to unravel the truth behind it.

Politics / Ndi Igbo Stand For One Nigeria by Rehimusals: 8:58pm On Jul 04, 2021
The vocal minority will always have their say, but the silent majority will have their way. Nevertheless, it is capricious to let the pesky minority govern and dominate the narrative. A solitary story by a negligible decimal could be held as the belief and view of the bulk. This is why the silent Igbo majority who are opposed to the secessioning of the south-east from Nigeria need to speak up.
We cannot discount the perils, ills and concomitants of the civil war. But it has been 51 years since the end of the war, and the Igbo have built back better and stronger. We people every corner of Nigeria and have made where we settled our home. It is customary to find an Igbo native who can speak Hausa and Yoruba fluently – even much better than their indigenous tongue.
A united Nigeria remains a viable emporium for the enterprising Igbo.
With enduring resilience we have made magic out of the ordinary and turned dust into gold in the places we have settled. Whether in the north or in the south, we dominate commerce. We have forged bonds and made families with host communities. We have crossed bloodlines and have nourished our gene-pool with the rich ancestry of other peoples of Nigeria. We have become aboriginal Nigerians.
It gladdened me when the Igbo Delegate Assembly said in June they are opposed to the breakaway of the south-east from Nigeria. The Igbo leaders from the 19 northern states declared that there is a new tribe – The Northern Igbo. This melange of Igbo whose histories have become intertwined and many others with roots in the south-east and even resident there are in the majority.
Really, there is a new and only tribe – the aboriginal Nigerian; a cross-genetic breed.
Those crusading for the secession of the south-east today are deficient students of history and sociology. Even the late Odumegwu Ojukwu, the captain of the secessionist struggle during the war, regretted that devastating episode in our history. Ojukwu said: ‘’I don’t think the second war is necessary. We should have learnt from the first one.”
There is no victory in war; only pain, blood and death. Nobody should provoke another war in Igbo land. Ndi Igbo must not let the vocal minority drown them out. They must speak up and be heard.

At the weekend, I had a robust conversation on Nigeria and the south-east with some friends. It jogged something in me. While the claims of marginalisation by Ndi Igbo cannot be brushed off, Nigeria has not been all grim for the Igbo. The Igbo are perhaps the most financially fortunate of all groups in Nigeria. I recall, under the Jonathan administration, the Igbo ruled the commanding heights of the economy. They peopled strategic places in the government. In fact, the Jonathan administration was passed off as an Igbo government, and rightly so. What we did with that opportunity will be discussed in subsequent columns. But Nigeria has not been all ash and sackcloth for Ndi Igbo.
And who says we cannot seek justice and fairness within Nigeria? Operating in a democracy affords us several vehicles to realise whatever we seek – within the orbit of the constitution. But our pursuit of equity must not come with bloodshed. It must not be at the cost of precious human lives.
So, in our discussion, we idealised the possibility of a movement to drive the quiet thoughts of the silent Igbo majority. That is, a non-partisan and strictly ideological platform to mobilise Igbo voices and consciences for a united Nigeria and to counter secessionist narratives. We came up with the concept of ‘Ndi Igbo for One Nigeria’. Yes, Ndi Igbo stand for One Nigeria. Our voices should be louder than those who seek to divide us.
I believe many are reluctant to speak up for fear of violence. I have been threatened many times for my views, but my belief in a united Nigeria is stronger than my fear. Should we remain reticent by fit of fear and watch our years of hard work tumble down? Do we keep our hands suspended in the air while our kith and kin are slaughtered in avoidable violence?

The silent Igbo majority need to speak up. It is an existential struggle for us and our children. We need to rise up and take a stand. Nigeria belongs to us and every other Nigerian. We must hold the fort.
‘Ndi Igbo for One Nigeria’ berths and our voices against secessionist agitations just got louder.

Politics / New Party Ahead Of 2023: Obasanjo Picks 3 Ex-govs As Coordinators, Meeting July by Rehimusals: 9:04am On Jul 04, 2021
NEW PARTY AHEAD OF 2023: Obasanjo picks 3 ex-govs as coordinators, meeting July 13

A hybrid party that will accommodate aggrieved members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and those of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the run-up to the 2023 general elections is being worked on by former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Sunday Vanguard learned.
A competent source told Sunday Vanguard that Obasanjo is convinced that the two major political parties are likely to be embroiled in serious legal and political conflicts that would leave them in a bad shape to be able to contest and win the forthcoming elections and form a national government.
The source said that although the former President claimed that he had since torn his PDP membership card and resigned from active politics, he was still active in mobilising Nigerians to influence the emergence of the next President, governors and other leaders.
“Even as the name for the hybrid party has not been made public as we speak, Baba is seriously mobilising his keen loyalists and die-hard supporters across the country to actualise his dream of installing a government that would be answerable to him,” a source privy to the new political calculation, said last night.
According to the source, Obasanjo is hoping to harvest many key members of the two major political parties into his new party as a result of the forthcoming preparations for 2023.
He is said to be seriously banking on the potential rancour that would envelop the ruling APC over the conduct of its primaries and inability to manage the discontent coupled with the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari is not likely to intervene in the crisis since he is not contesting again.
The ex-President is also said to be worried about the overbearing influence of a South-South governor in the PDP and his simmering altercation with the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus.
Thereby weakening the cohesion that would have helped the party to work as a family with the hope of taking over power from the APC.
“Baba is afraid of the growing personalisation of the party by one man and the growing rancour with other stakeholders of the PDP and he does not want to put all his eggs into the troubled ship,” a close ally said
“In fact, it was for these reasons that the former President has been moving round and consulting with those he believes can help in realising the new political thinking.
To consolidate the gains said to have been made so far by Obasanjo in shoring up the new group, Sunday Vanguard gathered that he has scheduled a strategic meeting with his loyalists and associates for Tuesday, July 13.
It is expected that three former governors of Osun, Jigawa and Kwara states and other coordinators drawn from across the six zones of the country, as well as the structure of the fledging political movement, would be unveiled.
“The three former governors are to subtly coordinate the activities of the hybrid party in the North-West, North-Central and South-west zones, while efforts are being made to name more coordinators for the remaining areas of the country,” the ally told Sunday Vanguard.

The Onion Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (OPMAN) has said it will cut off supply to entire southern Nigeria beginning from Monday if the government fails to respond to the association’s demands.
Daily Trust gathered that one of OPMAN’s demands is that its members who had suffered losses as a result of ethno-religious crises in the South must be duly compensated.
Others include restoration of law and order in those areas as well as a thorough investigation to uncover the remote causes of those attacks on their members.
OPMAN also called on the host communities to respect the constitutional rights of northern traders in their respective states.
Addressing journalists after the association’s meeting in Sokoto at the weekend, OPMAN’s President, Aliyu Isa, noted that members of the association lost onions and property worth N4.5 billion in various attacks in the south.
According to him, during the Aba crisis in Abia State, the association lost three members, while about 30 trailers, 9 utility cars, 50 stores and 10,000 bags of onion, among other valuables belonging to their members, were destroyed.
In Shasa, Oyo State, he said 27 lives, five trailers, 5,600 bag of Onions, 12 utility vehicles and other valuables were lost.
Isah added that members were robbed of onions worth N13 million in Imo State.
He said, “After full deliberation by the executive members of this association and the failure of government to respond to our cry, we resolved…that we are shutting down the supply of onions to the entire South by Monday, June 7, 2021, unless all our demands are met.”

#TwitterBan: Twitter deletes Nnamdi Kanu’s tweetsIn the tweet, the IPOB leader vowed to unleash terror on Nigerian soldiers deployed to the South-east.

Nearly 24 hours after the Nigerian government announced a ban on the activities of Twitter, the popular microblogging platform has deleted ‘inciting’ tweets from Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a separatist group agitating for the Republic of Biafra.

In the controversial tweet, the IPOB leader vowed to unleash terror on Nigerian soldiers deployed to the South-east. He also used derogatory words to describe some government officials.

“It’s not for the living to respond to the dead but given the lack of reasoning prevalent in the #Zoo Nigeria, I wish to assure @GarShehu (Garba Shehu) , the Jihadi midget @elrufai (Nasir El-Rufai) & that Fulani lapdog Femi Adesina that any army they send to #Biafraland will die there. None will return alive,” Mr Kanu wrote via his handle on Wednesday.

Messrs Adesina and Shehu are both presidential aides while Mr El-Rufai is the current Governor of Kaduna State and a member of Nigeria’s ruling party, APC.

The tweet was deleted on Saturday with the social media platform saying it violates its rules.

The deletion was done a day after the federal government suspended the activities of Twitter in Nigeria accusing it of undermining the country’s corporate existence.

Announcing the ban on Friday, Nigeria’s information minister, Lai Mohammed, ordered the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing social media platforms in Nigeria.

Following the ban, which was effected by telecommunication firms based on a directive by the government, Nigerians have been denied access to the microblogging platform and can only access it by bypassing domain restrictions through alternative mediums.

The suspension of Twitter was announced two days after Twitter deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s controversial tweet about the civil war which some Nigerians found offensive.

Politics / Brekete Family: BBC Unmasks The True Face Of ‘ordinary President’ by Rehimusals: 11:24am On May 17, 2021
The British Broadcasting Corporation’s Africa Eye has gained behind-the-scenes access to Ahmed Isah, Nigeria’s foremost radio host and human rights campaigner, Daily Trust reports.

In its latest undercover investigation video, exclusively obtained by Daily Trust, BBC Reporter Peter Nkanga spent one-month filming with Ahmed Isah at his Human Rights Radio and TV studios in the capital city Abuja uncovers another side to the popular Radio/TV host, popularly known as Ordinary President.

Even though the reporter said he witnessed firsthand the huge impact of Ahmed’s work on the lives of many ordinary Nigerians, “his often-controversial methods raise serious questions.”

The about thirty minute’s video revealed how the ‘Ordinary President’ violates the rights of some persons brought before him for investigation, including the case of a woman that was physically assaulted on camera by Isa.

Although, the video showed the graphic image of a six-year-old girl with severe burns, who received funding for much-needed hospital treatment after appearing on his show it also showed how Ahmed struck an interviewee across the face on camera as well as refusing to pursue the apparently deserving case of eight disappeared children.

Ahmed Isah popularly known as Ordinary President

As the investigation reveals critical voices have emerged from the human rights community in Nigeria, including claims that Ahmed has become a law unto himself.

By not affording those who are accused of wrongdoing an opportunity to respond, he is breaching their rights, the report quotes Nigeria’s Human Rights Commissioner as saying.

According to the report, Nigeria’s media regulator, the National Broadcasting Commission, also stated that Ahmed Isah has been the subject of numerous complaints and his programming “frequently violates ethical standards.”

Peter Nkanga who spent one month filming for BBC’s Africa Eye with Ahmed Isah at his Human Rights Radio and TV studios in the capital city Abuja said his investigation made him understand how one can be doing good and at the same time be doing wrong.

Speaking on the one-month long investigative work, Nkanga said while many Nigerians have embraced the works Ahmed Isa does in bringing to the fore many human rights issues, the process is somehow flawed.

According to him, the foremost Radio host saw a gap and a society where people were yearning for justice and he is filling that void.

“I think the major discovery for me was how you can be doing well and at the same time be doing wrong. It is about understanding why and how people like Ahmed Isah use the power that they have, what they do with it. It is about responsibility; it is about giving what you can take and not engaging in double-standard.

“I think the major discovery was that every human being has flaws no matter how much of a hero you might be. You are just human. I saw a huge disappointment as well because when you see an opportunity for a situation to change or improve, let’s see the impact of what you do.”

The journalist stated that despite the impact of his programme and the wide acceptability it has garnered, Isa’s failure to make case for the eight missing children was a major flaw.

He said non-state actors like Ahmed Isa is filling a void because the state has abdicated its responsibility.

“There is a gap which Ahmed Isah has filled and that tells us that we are in a society where people are looking for solutions anywhere. The truth is that you and I, every human that is looking for solutions to their problem, you don’t really care how far you have to go as long as you will get that solution.”

Asked whether he felt the radio host should be prosecuted for human rights violations, he said he would not advocate that but he said, “Let the game be played according to the rule.”

But Nkanga ultimately concluded that until they feel protected by the state, many Nigerians may not care about Ahmed’s methods.

“Instead, they’ll keep tuning their radios into his station, hoping to hear someone like themselves getting justice, for once.”

Crime / Nigeria Govt Identifies 400 Suspected Boko Haram Financiers For Trial – AGF by Rehimusals: 8:39pm On May 13, 2021
The Nigerian government is about to begin the prosecution of 400 suspected Boko Haram financiers, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, said on Thursday.

Mr Malami said the government would soon “resuscitate and reinvigorate the existing special terrorism courts in the country” for that purpose.

This comes about a week after Mr Malami told reporters at the Presidential Villa in Abuja that the government was profiling some high-profile Nigerians strongly suspected to be financing terrorism for prosecution.

He had disclosed that investigations revealing the suspected terrorism financiers were triggered by a recent conviction of some Nigerians in the United Arab Emirate (UAE) for funding Boko Haram.

When asked about the number of the suspects already identified, he said it could not be given because investigations were still ongoing.

Mr Malami, however, gave a clue about the number in a statement released by his spokesperson, Umar Gwandu, to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr celebration on Thursday.

The minister also said the government was taking more measures to counter insurgency and general insecurity in addition to the move to prosecute the 400 suspected Boko Haram financiers.

“He said in addition to the prosecution of 400 suspected Boko Haram financiers, the government has taken more measures to counter the twin trouble of insurgency and insecurity in the country.

“Malami said very soon, the Federal Government will, through the Federal Ministry of Justice’s Complex Case Group, resuscitate and reinvigorate the existing special terrorism prosecution courts in the country in order bring to book all those found guilty so as to serve as deterrence to others,” the statement read in part.

He urged Muslims to continue to be law-abiding, have sober reflection and exhibit the imbibed lessons learnt during the period of Ramadan fast as they celebrate Eid-el-fitr.

He saluted “the commitment of clerics in enlightening their followers on various issues during the months urging them to maintain the tempo even beyond the period of Ramadan.”

The minister did not give the details of the special terrorism prosecution courts where he said the government intends to try the suspected Boko Haram suspects, but officials of the Federal Ministry of Justice told PREMIUM TIMES that it is about an arrangement the ministry has with the Federal High Court.

The arrangement, according to the sources, who asked not to be named because they have not been given an approval to speak to the press about the issue, involves deployment of some designated judges of the Federal High Court to various detention facilities where terrorism suspects are held in the country.

Over 1,000 terrorism suspects detained in military detention in Kainji, Niger State, have been prosecuted under the arrangement.

The choice of the Federal High Court for the cases is because it is the court with exclusive jurisdiction to handle terrorism matters.

The justice ministry liaises with other relevant security agencies and prosecutes the cases through its Complex Case Group which handles he prosecution of terrorism related cases.

The move to prosecute the alleged terrorism financiers is coming amid heightened attacks by Boko Haram, non-state actors and other perpetrators of violent crimes in different parts of the country.

Politics / Insecurity: We Are Considering Restructuring, Not Separation —FG by Rehimusals: 5:08pm On May 13, 2021
ON Tuesday in Lagos, the Federal Government gave the closest hint of being committed to restructuring the country.
Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made the disclosure to the media, which he begged to tone down rhetoric on national challenges.
Beyond the political restructuring which the central authorities said was receiving the attention of all major stakeholders in the polity, the terror war gear was being primed for another level, with the planned prosecution of 400 suspected financiers of alleged terrorism.
In the playbook which the minister said was generated from the recent national dialogue in Kaduna, the judiciary is also listed for unbundling to shake off the yoke of alleged current unitarism in operating the system.
He said: “Gentlemen, the government realises that the security challenges we face today are systemic, hence has – in addition to kinetic efforts – also embarked on various non-kinetic measures to most effectively tackle the challenges.
“Recently, specifically on April 8, 2021, we held a town hall meeting on national security in Kaduna, after which we came out with an implementable 10-point agenda;
“That the governance of human society should be based on law rather than the whims and caprices of human beings and must be obeyed by all as all persons are equal before the law, including the law givers.
“That there is an urgent need for political restructuring and not separation.
“That the judiciary be decentralised and reformed through constitutional amendment to remove the unitary control of the superior courts.”
The remaining seven, according to the minister, include, “That government at all levels should ensure free, qualitative and compulsory primary education for all children of school age,
“That the military, police and other security agencies should be expanded in number, retrained, provided with modern equipment and technology to cope with emerging security challenges,
“That both religious and traditional leaders should encourage and promote intermarriages for unity as contained in the 1999 Constitution as amended, Article 15, 3(c) which prescribes intermarriage, among persons from different places of origin, or of different religious, ethnic or linguistic association or ties.
“That the establishment of State Police should be supported by the National and State Houses of Assembly to enable State Governments have firm control in addressing security issues. “And finally that the farmers/herders clashes be addressed by establishment of ranches, grazing reserves with modern amenities to check the trans-humans of the herders.”
Unlike recent past, he said the government is totally committed to implementation this time.
