Religion / People Of God Filled In The City Of Devil by restartnaija: 8:55pm On Nov 18, 2017
This write-up is not targeted to any church or religious gathering. it is a general observation of what happens in our society presently...

Nigeria is rated as one of the most religious countries in the world. Despite the religiousness, Nigeria still rates as one of the poorest, most dangerous, corrupt and crime-infested places on earth. With the level of poverty, criminality and danger, Nigeria could pass for the city of devil. Yet the presence of many religious people and places of worship undeniably characterizes Nigerians as a people of God. Since Nigerians are mainly people of God, who are the people committing all those crimes in Nigeria?

To understand why there is so much crime in Nigeria despite the religiosity, we evaluate the purpose of religion in Nigeria against Nigeria’s socio-economic situation.

Nigeria was formed by British colonial masters using a brutal amalgamation of different unwilling ethnic groups, kingdoms and communities. Before exiting Nigeria at independence, the colonialists installed a federal system of government to hold the different ethnic groups together under military force. The government seizes and auctions the whole mineral resources of the different communities to foreigners, while the people remain poor. In this state of frustration and desperation, various Nigerians search for any spiritual or physical means to satisfy their needs.

Humans have several needs, but focus on some needs more than others, according to their level of enlightenment. For this reason, the purpose for being religious in Nigeria may be divided into three: material, psychological and spiritual.

Material purpose of the Nigerian religious people: money and protection
This aspect of the Nigerian religiosity is motivated by the quest for material prosperity and protection. Most people in this category are pushed to religion by fear of adversity or desire for material blessings. They see the blessing of God as health or financial breakthroughs and protection from attack and misfortune. Their prayers are either channelled against enemies, accidents and misfortunes or channelled to money, health, protection and other material benefits.

When desperate, people in this category are ready to perform rituals, pay money, fast and do bizarre things commanded by religious leaders. Many in this category do not mind sacrificing anything or anybody for a promise of prosperity and protection from harm. They desperately remember being people of God when there is trouble.

More ambitious people in this category join religious-leadership-training schools to get church branches and start making money. Religious leaders in this category never fail to emphasize the importance of tithes and offerings in the life of fellow materialistic followers. They easily link the gospel with material and individualistic prosperity, while lip-glossing the gospel of repentance and charity.

Religious leaders in this category exploit the people’s fears by threatening them with poverty, disease, death and misfortunes. They also entice and exploit the people’s appetites by prophesying health, prosperity and victory. Even when the socio-political situation of a society is intolerant of balanced social prosperity, they continue to preach prosperity. They do not need to study or address the socio-political factors of poverty in the society; they only need to proclaim miracles.

Psychological purpose of the Nigerian religious people: name (fame)
This aspect of the Nigerian religiosity is motivated by the need to build a social reputation, or to belong somewhere. The access to all the mineral resources for production in Nigeria is confiscated by the Nigerian Mineral and Mining Act. Many Nigerians do not have the opportunity to grow their names using what they have produced, like Apple and Toyota. Hence, they demonstrate their social relevance by displaying religious activities, or claiming to make spiritual contributions to the society.

Some people in this category already have money, and only want to validate their moral images and profile. They join and lead choir, ushers, become deacons, pastors, priests or any other high-profile position. Politicians, top managers, businesspeople, civil servants and other socially-established people fit in here. They pay the heaviest tithes and make flamboyant donations, even from corrupt sources, for applause. This category are more interested in the augmentation of their social image by the church than the gospel. They are the type of people Jesus would call Pharisees, who pray and do media-charity to be respected by men. (Matthew 6:1-5)

Religious leaders in this category attribute the congregation’s success stories to his prayers, and all misfortunes to the people’s sins.
The material and psychological categories may intersect from time to time. However, their common ground is that they need to obtain superficial benefits from the church.

Spiritual purpose of the Nigerian religious people: meaning of life
This aspect of religiosity is guided by a genuine search for spiritual fulfilment and the true purpose of life on earth. People in this category are constantly searching for the truth about their lives on earth: their mission in life. They are guided by the heavenly condition of “when I was poor, sick and hungry, imprisoned and dying, you cared for me.” (Matthew 25:35-40) In searching for the meaning of their lives on earth, they devote themselves to solving human problems through science or any other way. They believe in fulfilling divine wish of “thy kingdom come” (Matthew 6:10) by working for social justice in Nigeria. They believe in “seek first the kingdom of God” (Matthew 6:33) and every other thing will be added unto you as jara.

This category of religious people may be rare in Nigeria, since the environment conditions Nigerians for personal survival. However, there are good Nigerians who do not blow their status as people of God, but go about working for social justice. These are the silent saints who do charity without calling the media and fight for justice without seeking attention. Some of them may even claim to be atheist, while they are more charitable than the religious people. These are the people who will ask: “Lord, when did we see you hungry, naked, imprisoned, and came to help you.” (Matthew 25:35-40) And the Lord will smile at them replying: Omoluabi, when you were doing it for the least of Nigerians, you were doing it for me, abeg take one bottle of wine and sit by my right.

In conclusion, the socio-economic situation in Nigeria conditions Nigerians to search for survival even through the church. The motive for being people of God in Nigeria is also affected by the socio-economic situation. As long as people do not have access to resources to solve their problems, they will continue to search for solutions in anyway.

What is your purpose for joining the people of God? Money and protection; name and fame or meaning of life and heaven.
Politics / Can Susan Ever Be Free From Debt by restartnaija: 10:17am On Sep 04, 2017
Dear Moderator, please read the content well before you decide to transfer this post to another section.

Can Susan ever get free from debt, giving her present relationship with her captors?

Susan (not real name) finished secondary school at 16 years as a bright, lively and beautiful student in the village. Her Italy-based relative, Aunty Stella (not real name), entices her with the show of wealth, cars, clothes, shoes and a big house. So Susan begged to join Aunty Stella in Italy, so she can be as successful as Aunty Stella. Eventually, Aunty Stella took Susan to Lagos for shopping and eventually to her heavily guarded compound in Italy. On getting to Italy, Auntie Stella convinced Susan to temporarily join other sex workers in their sex work. This will enable her to make some money to pay off the money spent for her travelling arrangements and become free from debt.

Auntie Stella would hand Susan over to her rich sex-hunting-male-customers and collect the pay on Susan’s behalf. Days turned to weeks, months and years, yet Susan’s debt for coming, feeding and clothing in Italy is never cleared. Susan does not know how much Auntie Stella collects on her sex-service, nor how much remains for her freedom. Auntie Stella claims that the debt is still increasing because of Susan’s ‘expensive’ feeding, clothing, medical treatment and pastor’s visit. Auntie Stella diplomatically refused to teach Susan any other skill for self-sustenance, so that Susan will have nothing else to offer than sex.

‘Kwuo-ugwo-I-ji-ka-I-nwere-onwe-gi’ is an Igbo adage that expresses the bitter bondage of living in debt. (Pay your debt and have peace). The debt bondage becomes worse when your creditor is stronger than you and can manipulate other factors of your debts. Factors like the account and record of debt, the commodity, terms, conditions and mode of payment. A stronger or ‘smarter’ creditor will continuously manipulate the conditions of your debts, making it evermore-difficult to become free from debt. Buying your freedom may eventually end like Barca’s fatal freedom from the Lanista house of Batiatus in the movie, Spartacus. http://spartacus.wikia.com/wiki/Barca

INTERLUDE

As wayward-sex-hunters use close-relatives to exploit the beauty of naïve girls, so do foreign companies use African representatives to exploit African resources. Using machine-guns, colonial masters seized and controlled African lands and resources, and forced Africans to pay taxes until their exit at independence. When leaving, the colonialists brought loans for building infrastructure to extract and transport African crude resources to the Western markets. The African representatives failed to train their citizens to build these infrastructures and to utilize the resources for their society. http://restartnaija.com/2017/07/25/nigerian-youth-truly-unemployable/ Instead, they paid-back the loans to the same colonialists to build the infrastructures, to exploit and to sell African resources.

In taking loans and paying for foreign infrastructure and consumable goods, African representatives divert huge amounts of the loans. Now, many African representatives enjoy the business of obtaining loans and paying with people’s resources because of transaction cuts. The loans are given by the colonialists at high interest rates, and also paid back to colonialists at inflated price. Then, the African countries have nothing to give but their mineral resources in payment for the loans.

SUSAN’S TOUCHING STORY CONTINUES…

Susan may have more than three options to become free from debt.

She could continue praying, fasting and paying pastors’-tithes, so that Aunty Stella’s accounting style will magically reset for her freedom. Even if she becomes free from debt, what will she be doing to sustain her acquired lifestyle in Italy? She has no savings and has not acquired any skill apart from sex? (Selling away her mineral resources). Where will she go to, and who will support or empower her without asking for the same sex?

Second, Susan could continue in the business until her youthful beauty and freshness has depreciated to no value. When she has lost all her youthful beauty and freshness, the wayward-sex-hunters will no more find her attractive. Then they will allow her to go and struggle to die, reform or repackage her life. Will she be able to repackage herself when her youthful innocence and beauty have been plundered by Aunty Stella’s sex-hunting-collaborators? Will she get anybody to help her patch up her dilapidated body after so much sexual assault?

Third, Susan could run to a human-rights agency, who will assist to negotiate her freedom from Aunty Stella’s house. Then she will be able to decide what to do with her body apart from sex. She can decide to develop her knowledge or skills in sports, fashion, music, arts, physiotherapy, nursing, medicine, etc. When she learns a skill, then she can earn some money and gradually pay off Aunty Stella’s collaborators.

I am not talking about Nigeria today ooh, nor about any other African country; Also Aunty Stella does not depict Nigerian or African government who incur unending loans in the name of the society. I am only talking about Susan my teenage crush. Please if you have a better suggestion for my dear Susan, kindly drop your comment box below. I am going tell her the next time we speak on phone abeg. If you understand any other thing from this passage apart from Susan, kindly discuss with your intelligent friends abeg. I no follow to look again.

Romance / Many Ripe, Rich And Beautiful Ladies Against Many Ripe, Broke And Handsome Guys by restartnaija: 1:03pm On Jul 27, 2017
Marriage has become a fulfilling path towards obeying the natural instinct for procreation in the world. YOUNG MEN ARE JUDGED CAPABLE OF MARRIAGE WHEN THEY DEMONSTRATE THE ABILITY TO PROTECT AND PROVIDE FOR A FAMILY. Young women are judged capable when they can account and properly manage the resources (human and material) of the family. The criterion of provision for men includes the ability to provide for themselves, their would-be wife(s) and children. The provision is not limited to material provision, but also to spiritual, emotional and intellectual provision. These provisions are witnessed in the external manifestation of peace, progress and love among members of the family. Hence, marriage in a society that produces lots of broke guys becomes difficult.

Human anatomy shows that men are more robust and physically energetic than women. This is why they are able to apply these surge of energy in processing the physical materials for human use. They till the ground for food, cut trees for house, erect walls with clay, sticks or any other materials for protection. From ancient times, men have forged tools from physical materials like wood, iron-ore and other environmental materials for easier work. And even in the modern time, they continue to invent more sophisticated tools for executing the work of protecting and providing for the society.

Hence, it has mainly been the men’s work to produce and protect the commodities used in the human society. These commodities include agricultural products, buildings, road network, water supply, heavy materials, machineries and services. The efficiency of producing things is dependent on the tools and methods used in producing them. The tools and methods used in modern agricultural and industrial production have advanced extensively from what was used in the 19th century. And this advancement has resulted in the quicker and better creation of resources, goods, services and consequently wealth.

Better tools and improved methods are guaranteed by access to resources for forging tools and access to education/information about new methods. New generation of producers continue to research in order to improve on the methods of production using the available resources. Many young men enrol in sci-tech-engineering courses, to continue the job of producing, protecting and providing for the society. By executing productive roles, they demonstrate the ability to provide and protect a family, and thus, attract spouses.

Unfortunately in Nigeria, the “Nigerian Mineral and Mining Act” makes it impossible for the men to exercise their productive knowledge. The Nigerian mining and mineral act states that:

“all lands in which minerals have been found in Nigeria and any area covered by its territorial waters or constituency and the Exclusive Economic Zone shall, from the commencement of this Act, be acquired by the Government of the Federation…”[1] “NO person shall search for or exploit mineral resources in Nigeria or divert or impound any water for the purpose of mining except as provided in this Act.”[2] “The property in mineral resources shall pass from the Government to the person by whom the mineral resources are lawfully won, upon their recovery in accordance with this Act.”[3]

Keen observations suggest that those who win the properties in these mineral resources are foreign companies who are fronted by their indigenous allies. The indigenous allies are given percentages to stand in, while the foreign companies extract and export these crude resources to their countries. Eventually the foreign companies and their allies get waivers to import and market the finished products from local resources. When their job of processing raw materials into usable commodities are taken to foreigners, Nigerian engineers either stay idle or join in marketing imported goods.

Ladies’/unisex jobs of counting, managing and marketing finished goods remain intact despite the origin: UK, US, Germany or France. Hence, the few available Nigerian jobs in accounting, banking, management and marketing are RIGHTLY occupied by the ladies. Though accounting and management Jobs may be difficult, they are more suitable for the patient and meticulous nature of women. The available counting and management jobs cannot accommodate many qualified men, hence more jobless and broke guys are left in the system.

Shamefully, thousands of engineers/broke-guys join the queue for jobs to audit, bank, count and manage imported goods they can produce. They manage the job of counting foreign products, while regretting the lack of opportunity to design and produce better specifications. Frustrating engineers to the point of fighting for unisex jobs in banks and auditing firms remains a national disgrace. Now, everywhere you look around Nigeria, you find broke guys: broke guys as graduates, broke guys as yahoo buys, broke guys as underpaid workers, broke guys as hustlers.

In the end, there are mostly ladies’/unisex jobs in Nigeria, and the beautiful ladies deserve every pay they receive. The men who should produce modern tools for other commodities from their resources are denied access to their mineral resources. The mineral and mining act in Nigeria makes it impossible for men to earn decent living according to their nature as producers. Without access to mineral resources like iron ore, copper, coal, crude oil, the engineers cannot produce anything. They cannot apply their engineering knowledge on air, but on resources, to which they are denied access.

The ladies NATURALLY and RIGHTLY hope for the guys to meet up to the standard of being providers and protectors. However the policy[4] that upholds men unproductivity is sustained by the foreign companies and their political allies. So many ripe, handsome and strong guys are too broke to attract or marry the ladies of their choice. While the few marketers with access to foreign goods/politicians/entertainers/scammers continue to hop and ‘baby-mama’ the already desperate chicks. Until Nigerian men unite and take back the access to their resources for productivity, they will continue to score low in the masculine qualities for attracting, providing for and protecting their ripe, rich and beautiful ladies.

Politics / Nigerians Are Not DNA Corrupt by restartnaija: 12:27am On Jun 07, 2017
Many Nigerians have accepted the Media label that Nigerians are naturally corrupt from birth. Though foreigners view Nigerians as corrupt in the DNA, the acceptance of the tag by Nigerians is more disheartening. After a historical evaluation of humans, and Nigerians as peoples before the colonial corruption, I maintain that Nigerians are not DNA corrupt. Nigerians are not DNA corrupt like the countries who label them so. Nigerians are simply reacting to the circumstances arising from the terrible system of governance imposed on them. They know what they are doing, but they have not understood what is ‘doing’ them.

Wrestling has become a very captivating form of entertainment. The Royal Rumble match in which many people (usually 30) are seen fighting in a ring, seem most intriguing. There is only one rule in the ring: continue entertaining us by fighting one another while we place bets and make money from your pains. The rules in the ring are not set by the people in the ring, but schemed by some businessmen. The only instinct inside the ring is the instinct of survival. There are no permanent friends or foes in the ring; no love, trust or affection; all you have is individual struggle for survival. You can collaborate with anybody to defeat another person, and immediately turn against your collaborator for a deadly fight.

The bible says in Amos 3:3 that “two cannot walk unless they agree”. “NIGERIANS HAVE NEVER AGREED – OR BEEN GIVEN THE CHANCE TO AGREE – WHAT NIGERIA IS.”[1] It is a country of about 250 ethnic groups, who have co-existed in bitterness and mutual suspicion since 1960. Nigeria has fought a civil war and several crises like other African countries. “These wars diminished in number after the turn of the millennium, but their chief cause – THE LACK OF COMMON NATIONHOOD – remains.”[2] The “Africa’s nation states were formed by foreigners, lines drawn by Europeans on maps of places they had often never been to. They carved out territories, cut up kingdoms and societies of which they had little idea… They (African countries) lack a common conception of nationhood.”[3]

With the absence of agreement to be, to live together and to cooperate, Nigeria resembles a cage of wild animals, who struggle desperately to survive among themselves. They are like the Royal Rumble fighters, whose only instinct is to survive the moment. The humanity of many Nigerians have been marred by the colonial encounter, which continues to linger in the present style of governance that is sustained by international policy.

Presently, Nigerians are desperate survivors of the colonial encounter. Only that no one is allowed to leave the ring in the Nigerian royal rumble. The ethnic communities have been stripped off the rightly power to make policies for their internal politics. The level of military threat involved in supposed national discussions disallows forms of independent reasoning. Hence, the survivors fight to outwit one another as they struggle for the evaporating currency obtained from the sale of crude resources. This desperate struggle to survive and the absence of agreement invalidates any possibility of planning and working together.

Nigerians cannot plan and work together towards industrialization and scientific production because they are distracted by the national fight for the evaporating currency. The ‘Royal Rumble’ policies in Nigeria has turned Nigerians into economic speculators, looking for opportunities to survive in the cage. They now speculate to import and sell what they could have produced, if the people had rights to their resources and policies. The environment of oppression and constant fight for right to resource control is never conducive for sustainable development. It only promotes individual struggles and fights in the name of entrepreneurship, looking for cheaper goods to import and sell.

The desperation and struggle for survival is manifesting in all the practices termed as corruption. Nigerians are afraid of themselves because there has never been a true agreement to cooperate and live in peace. The politicians are packing extra for their tenth generation because the system of governance in Nigeria does not guarantee the wellbeing of their descendants. The workers, who are paid peanuts, try to cut corners and do extra business, in order to sustain their families in a decent life. Even the arrested criminals and robbers point to the hopeless condition of Nigeria as the cause their involvement in crime.

Despite the terrific political climate encountered in Nigeria, Nigerians are still very good people. They succeed where other people fail. The occasions of their academic exploits in Europe and America has become common occurrence. Despite the Western effort to exaggerate individual cases of faults in the Nigerian society, Nigerian cultural values of generosity, integrity and hospitality are still evident but unreported in daily encounters. The continuous hype of a supposed Nigerian DNA remains a ploy to distract Nigerians from agreeing among themselves to harness and utilize the resources within their territory.

A way out is seeking a new agreement between the ethnic communities in Nigeria on the mode of their co-existence. It will enable a discussion about the ownership and management of human and mineral resources in different parts of Nigeria. Nigerians are not DNA corrupt; the system of governance imposed on them is corrupt, and breeds corruption, even in the good people. Nobody can fight corruption in Nigeria, unless we change the funny system of governance imposed and sustained by gun and fear. If the style of social influence and structure installed in Nigeria were installed in other places, they would be worse than Nigeria.

Politics / As Christ Resurrected, Nigeria Will Also Resurrect by restartnaija: 11:33am On Apr 17, 2017
Restartnaija joins our Christian brothers all over the world in the Easter celebration. Yesterday, Christians all over the world celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death. The scripture says that Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world, and rose again on the third day. Christ endured a long suffering and died before resurrecting. Similarly, Nigeria’s long suffering will end in the death of the present social structure for the resurrection of a new Nigeria. The present socio-political scheme and structure of suffering and pain in Nigeria will die to give way for a new Nigerian resurrection.

Nigeria is the most populous black nation, and has been considered the richest black nation. Despite its position as the most populous and richest black nation, it continues to suffer in different dimensions. One area in which Nigeria seems to be deficient is political leadership. Nigerians have never agreed - or been given the chance to agree - what Nigeria is. It is a country of several ethnic groups that have co-existed grudgingly for fifty six years.

The constitutional foundation is faulty as it lacks the first principle of human relationship, which is agreement. Hence, the institutions that proceed from the faulty constitution have failed and will continue to fail unless there is a new constitution by the consent of the ethnic communities that form Nigeria. The present institutions cannot and will not address the problems in Nigeria. Obviously, there are still problems of disunity, constant religious and ethnic crisis, corruption and desperation to survive in the chaos.

When viewed vertically downwards, the map of Africa resembles a locally made pistol. From that view, the position of Nigeria in the map of Africa is at the trigger. The trigger causes the gun to perform its primary function of shooting. And Nigeria’s position at the trigger signifies its ability to cause other parts of Africa to regain their glory. If Nigeria reorganizes itself for peace and productivity, the development will spill into other African countries; thereby, lightening up the continent they have always taunted as the Dark Continent

The diverse peoples of Nigeria will get back to their roots. They will understand who they are and what they had achieved in the past. They will take back the access to their resources, which is hijacked by foreign powers that influence governments in developing nations. They will agree to cooperate with one another. With unfettered access to their raw materials, they will be able to produce what they need. They will bond together free of current mutual suspicion and live a dignified life in a dignified society.

As Christ rose from the death, Nigeria will arise. God bless you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Politics / NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION: An Agreed Plan For Progress Or A Dictatorial Manual by restartnaija: 12:23am On Apr 12, 2017
There has been a lot of expensive drama involving the legislative arm of our federal government. The drama intensifies the heat and show of power between the executive and the national assembly. From senate president to EFCC handler, suspension of senators to summon of custom boss and executive officers.

During the tussle, the custom boss demands to be shown a constitutional reason for wearing the office uniform. The custom boss advised the senate to consult the constitution before they take positions. It appears the constitution is seen as a dogma, or unquestionable Scripture for the organization of our society.

This brings us to the evaluation of the Nigerian constitution, whether it is a plan between the Nigerian people or a manual given to the Nigerian people.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CONSTITUTION AS A MANUAL AND AS A PLAN

1. Constitution as a manual is seen as a commandment, while as plan, is a free agreement.

2. Constitution as a manual is a testament of the decision of some experts, which is handed down to non-experts. Constitution as a plan is a testament of the agreement between all stakeholders in a partnership.

3. In constitution as a manual, the rights and duties does not flow from the user, but is given to the user to follow without questioning. In a plan, rights and duties derive from the agreement of the users. It is an expression of the users’ agreed rights and duties in a partnership

4. Constitution as a manual dictates for the user on how to live. But the users direct constitution as a plan for their common good.

EVALUATION OF NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION: a manual or a plan?

1. DOES OUR CONSTITUTION REFLECT A COMMANDMENT OR AN AGREEMENT?

it is obviously a commandment that was handed down by the colonial masters and has been reproduced with minor adjustments by subsequent governments. It still maintains the foundations of chaos for the present Nigerian society.

2. DOES IT TESTIFY the agreement between all stakeholders or the decision of just few experts?

Nigeria is said to be made up of more than 250 ethnic groups. Yet there is no account of any gathering in which the custodians of the ethnic groups agreed on how to live together. Was your father consulted on your behalf to be a Nigerian? Was your chief or king consulted on behalf of your family?

Instead based on expert instructions, the constitution nullifies all cultural practices or law that does not comply with its dictates.

3. DOES IT EXPRESS AGREED RIGHTS AND DUTIES of the ethnic groups and their citizens?

No, it expresses a generalized and almost unenforceable rights of citizens. INSTEAD, it takes away the due rights of the ethnic communities who have natural charge of the citizens.

4. DOES IT DICTATE TO US, or do we direct the constitution according to our circumstance and common good? I leave you to answer that one.

From the ongoing distinctions, it is clear that our constitution is a manual that has been handed down through coercive decrees. If it were our plan, it will not be so confusing that we would need so many interpreters.

Nigerians have made attempts to forge a plan from the dictatorial manual we have now. Yet, all the attempts have not yielded any positive fruits. This is because You cannot build a good and strong house on a faulty foundation.

Politics / Parable Of RICAFA Garage by restartnaija: 3:00pm On Apr 06, 2017
African countries have been classified as the
most undeveloped and poor nations
since they got independence from the
colonial masters. Though, there are
crises in other parts of the world,
African nations experience more crisis
and hardship... this evaluates the formation of African countries using the parable of a garage,
I call Ricafa garage...

Parable of Ricafa garage is the story of
four cars that always competed against
one another for seasonal supremacy.
They compete on their car race from
time to time. And after each
competition, these four cars worked to
improve their efficiency. They service
their parts, change and add other
components to themselves.

At a point, they needed more
components and parts for improving
their capacity and abilities. So they
moved out in search of car components.
They found a car-component-store or
garage called ‘Ricafa’, which had so
many unused components. They were
excited and began gathering car
components with all excitement and
greed.

As each of the four cars struggled to
gather more components for themselves,
they had misunderstandings among
themselves. So they decided to partition
the Ricafa garage and share it among
themselves. They did this so that each of
them will have and know their specific
locations from which to gather
components.

As the powerful cars continued gathering
components, the components in the
Ricafa garage became angry. They were
angry that the four powerful cars were
only coming to take components from
them without adequate exchange. So the
components in Ricafa garage insisted
that they wanted to become cars on their
own.

When the Ricafa components insisted on
becoming cars, the four powerful cars
agreed to make them cars too. So the
four powerful cars brought empty car
frames, to frame the different
components in their distinct partitions.
They bundled the different components
in their partitions inside the car frame
without connecting them.

After framing the components, the four
powerful cars announced the “goodnews”
to the framed components that they
have become cars. The components
bundled in the framed car casing
rejoiced that they had become cars. The
components chose one unit (person)
among them to become the driver, to
move them like other cars. However, they
forgot something important: they were
not connected; their alignment and
agreement was not checked; their
compatibility as components of same car
was not evaluated; and their individual
internal integrity was not confirmed.

The driver tried to start the car, but
there was no connection between the
different components inside the car.
Hence, the car could not start. So the
driver came down,went behind and
pushed the car. When the car began
rolling down the slope, the parts
rejoiced that they had become cars and
can move. So the driver jumped into the
rolling ‘car’ and began steering the car
in full amazement.

When the car had rolled to a level
ground, it could not continue rolling.
There was no force or energy generated
by the required components of the car to
move it forward. So the components in
the car were angry with the driver. They
threw the driver away and brought in
another driver to move them.

The new driver suggested that they
should add more engine oil. When he
added the engine oil, the oil could not
circulate. It remained only in the engine
because there was no connection. So the
driver went behind and pushed the car
even more forcefully and the car began
to roll again. So the components rejoiced
again and began praising the new
driver.

After sometime the car stopped again.
There was no connection nor energy
generated by the car parts to move the
car. So the components threw away the
second driver and brought in another
one.

Meanwhile, as the framed car was being
pushed and moving down, some of its
parts were falling off and were being
collected by the other four powerful
cars. The powerful cars pick up these
parts and fix to themselves to become
better. While the framed components will
just roll front or back and then stop...

Politics / What Is Restartnaija? by restartnaija: 1:20pm On Apr 03, 2017
Restartnaija is a movement for socio-political enlightenment in Nigeria. It was founded on the belief that all the ethnic communities in Nigeria must distinguish themselves from the rest, in order to define why and how they want to be part of Nigeria.

Restartnaija shares in the belief that each ethnic community in Nigeria must distinguish their rights and duties in the Nigerian partnership before arriving at an agreement to be one Nigeria.

Among the rights to be distinguished by ethnic groups in the Nigerian partnership are the right to security, ownership and control of their lands/resources and an assurance of the basic human rights.

The duties to be performed by the ethnic communities for the Nigerian partnership include pledge of loyalty and support to the partnership, support of national policies an adequate tax / concessions for the maintenance of the partnership.

Since tribalism is defined as 'the love and loyalty to one’s tribe of origin, Restartnaija advocates for a positive version of ‘ethnicism’ and tribalism (charity begins at home). This is because a whole can never be better than its parts, instead a whole is a reflection of the integrity of its parts. When the internal organs of a human body are healthy and properly connected to one another in their natural order, they will cooperate and work efficiently for the fulfilment of the whole body. But when some parts are not working well, or the heart is mixed with the liver and brain distributed and relocated in parts to other organs of the body, the whole body will be in disaster. Hence each part must be distinct and properly functioning according to its natural order in order to provide its specific value to the rest of the body, and also obtain the value that is produced by the other organs of the body.

Restartnaija insists on the ethnic community representation in the Nigerian partnership because the ethnic communities are the true, original and natural custodians of the individuals, their culture and customs in a given society.

The ethnic communities are made up of clans, which are groups of villages that consists of different families, who agree on how to live together and relate with their environments.

Even though we argue that the natural order in the ethnic groups may not be perfect, they still retain the first principle of national growth. The brain is improved by studies and reflection for knowledge, the muscle is improved by exercise, so the relationship within the communities will also be improved by modern social research and dialogue.

Restartnaija is not affiliated to any political party. It is a non-partisan movement for an ideal common ground in the realization of a formidable African society. A society of internally healthy communities that relate with one another on the basis of mutual respect and benevolence.

It continues its research finding and disclosure through media broadcasts, debates, interviews, songs and dramas on its YouTube channel, Facebook page and website.

By the grace of God, we the Nigerian youths will experience a free and organized society, that will be supportive of the modern principles of social formation. We, the Nigerian youth of today, will be proud to give birth to our children in Nigeria as Nigerians... and be confident to hand over a peaceful and progressive nation to them.

First of all, ask questions and know your home, (Boundry and officers representing your family, village, ward, town, local government, state constituency, federal constituency and senatorial districts) in both place of origin and residence.

God bless you, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Census exercises in Nigeria seem to be among the most ridiculed national activities in Nigeria. Some people from the southern Nigeria accuse the northerners of officially inflating the number to include the number of their cows and goats. The northerners return the accusation saying that southerners inflate their population to accommodate their ‘ewedu’ in the West and ‘akpu’ in the East...

Religion / When Nigerian God Competes With Oyibo Men by restartnaija: 1:42pm On Mar 26, 2017
Religion is defined as ‘a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny’ and world occurrences. In their attempt to make sense out of the universe, humans seek the help of unknown forces behind the natural and physical world. Hence, humans found religion in an attempt to understand and manage their environment for their own good. By closer encounter with these forces, humans began to grow in social and scientific knowledge, to appreciate natural laws and to codify and apply these knowledge in their social adaptation and environmental management of their resources. This was how the Egyptian cum Chinese temple monks and many of the priests in the medieval era of Catholicism (Francis Bacon, Galileo Galilei et al) invented many of the scientific laws and technologies used today in the manufacture of phones, cars and gadgets we enjoy today.

Few weeks ago, a Nigerian Catholic priest founded the miracle of turning cold water into hot water by praying, another Nigerian pastor in Zambia abi na Zimbabwe found the miracle of praying money into people’s bank accounts. ‘Who no like beta tin?’ Many Nigerian pastors are reported to have healed the sick, raise the dead, even ‘dead’ the raised. Now many Nigerians troop to pastors in expectation of spiritual protection and miracles. Pastor abeg perform miracle so that someone will dash me his car, so that I will hammer 1 billion naira from my 45k job, so that my disease will heal without drugs, so that my enemies will die, so that so that so that…

At the same time when Nigerian pastors pray for miracles, some European Indian American Chinese non-religious guy is conducting a research that will enhance the seed germination, maturity and multiplication for feeding more hungry people in the world or a new transportation technology for the world. The Nigerian pastor performs his miracle without establishing or sharing the technique as contribution to generalizable knowledge that can be utilized for development everywhere in the world. The non-religious researcher establishes his scientific method for food multiplication to be used to feed the present and coming generations. The Nigerian pastor prays to buy the phone which the non-religious ‘guy-man’ works to manufacture.

Religion and belief in God are noble since they express our sense of humility, responsibility, gratitude and dependence on the God that has made it possible for us to be and to do. Adherence to social teachings from religion facilitates peaceful coexistence in the society. However, in genesis, that same God on whom we depend, gave man the command to dominate the world and use it for his own good. And man can only dominate and manage the world for his own good when he understands the world.

Miracle is an extraordinary manifestation of divine intervention, and I believe that God still does miracles. However, if we will always call on God to do for us what oyibo governments can do and has been doing for their citizens, then our Nigerian ‘god’ must be different or even weaker than oyibo men who provide for their citizens what our god has not provided for us despite several prayers and sacrifices. We are made in the image of God with creative potentials which we have to harness for a better life here on earth, so that when we die, we can tell God that we carried out his genesis commandment by using the intelligence he gave us to create things for the human society.

CONSTITUTION AS A PLAN: the story of Rimea and Igena communities

There are so many beautiful laws deriving from the Nigerian constitution. Yet we continue to wonder why these laws have not taken care of the moral and civil problems in our society, and has not brought the required peace and progress in Nigeria. The more the national assembly amend and tighten the law, the less it is known by the people and the less it is able to address the social issues of political instability, religious crisis and economic stagnation. This brings us to the discussion of constitution as a plan between members of a community for their own good using the stories of Rimea and Igena communities.

In the fifth episode we spoke about constitution as a manual given to users by a higher authority. And we considered whether it is better for manuals to be written before or after the production of an entity. We noted that the transfer of a manual to another person is a first testament of dependence of the receiver on the giver in the subject-matter for which the manual has been made. Today, we are speaking of constitution as a plan between different members of a society.

A plan is defined as a set of things to do in order to achieve something, especially one that has been considered in detail in advance. When a plan is made between two or more people, and is officially binding on them, it is regarded as a contract or a legal agreement.

I shall use two different stories to illustrate the concept of constitution as a plan.

The first story is the story of Rimea community which had 13 neighbouring families, and have been interacting with one another, trading their knowledge, goods and services with one another. One day, a foreigner came to the community and desired the fruits in their land. So the stranger asked to take over the fruits in their land. When the families refused, the stranger brought his gun and started shooting the whole members of the 13 families in Rimea community. So the remaining ones surrendered the right to their lands out of fear of death. The stranger converted the members of the Rimea community to slaves and began taking away the fruits of the community without minding from which family the fruit came. At a point, the original families in the community got fed up with the life of slavery even in their own land. So the heads of the 13 families joined forces together and fought the stranger fiercely. They forged their own weapons, fought the stranger with all their power, defeated the stranger and each family took back their land and fruits in order to continue working to improve their lives. When they had defeated the stranger, the heads of the 13 families came together to plan and agree on how to live from then onwards. They all followed the plan they had together, and whenever the plan does not work out, they changed the plan and continued to make progress in the extraction and processing of the fruits in their specific lands.

The second story is the story of Igena community which had 17 neighbouring families, and have been interacting with one another, trading their goods and services among themselves. One day, a foreigner came to their community and desired the fruits in their land. So the stranger asked to take over the fruits in their land for small exchange of mirror, ceramic plates, cups and others. The families initially agreed to the exchange since many of them had not seen mirror or cup before. However, they later discovered that it was not profitable exchange and resisted the exchange.

When the families resisted the exchange, the stranger brought out his guns and began shooting all the people who resisted his attempt to take over the fruits in their land. So the remaining people surrendered themselves and their lands to the stranger. Using the force of the gun, the stranger gave them a manual on how to be good slaves, and used them to extract and take away the fruits in their Igena community.

When the members of the Igena community got fed up with the life of slavery in their own land, they complained to the greedy stranger about their desire to become free. So the stranger advised them to be a little more patient so that he can guide them on how to use their freedom when he gives it to them, and so that they will maintain order and continuous supply of fruits to the stranger’s land. So the stranger cancelled the ‘slave’ which he wrote on the slave-manual for Igena community, and re-wrote free men manual for Igena community. He opened the first page and wrote ‘you are now a free man’ before handing the manual over to the families who he appointed to represent the whole families in Igena community. However, the original conditions for exploitation did not change: the user manual still maintained that the families will not have individual rights over their lands, especially when those lands contain the fruits desired by the stranger. The stranger also handed over his gun to a member of one of the families in order to maintain obedience and strict adherence to the system of supply of fruits to the stranger.

When the stranger had gone, the 17 families tried to live by the manual which they received from the stranger, but the manual did not address the real issues between the different families. Some people from different families in the community called for a change from the stranger’s manual to a home-made plan, but family with the gun rejected the idea for a new manual, since the considered the stranger as a superior being and must keep the manual as legacy for the superior being. When the family with the gun resisted the change from stranger’s manual to a home-made plan, three families decided to exclude themselves from the community which was guided by the stranger’s manual. When they dissociated from the community in order to own their lands, the member to whom the stranger handed the gun began shooting them but they were defending, until the family with gun invited the stranger with bigger guns to slaughter them. The remaining surrendered their lands and the fruit trees in it. From then, every other person in the community was afraid to ask for right to their land.

The brother with gun now appointed 13 obedient representatives out of the 17 families to agree on how to adjust but still remain together under the manual of the stranger. Everybody gathered out of fear, and would not argue because of fear. The other families who were not even represented had no option than to fearfully accept the conditions in the new plan, which was made to correspond with the manual of the stranger. Since then, the families have not been able to free themselves from the stranger’s manual nor to own the fruits in their lands. After adjusting the stranger’s manual over and over again, nothing seems to change.

In summary, it appears that there is a new form of slavery in Igena community, where the family with the gun is the favorite slave of the stranger, and is in charge of the other slave families. They are not allowed to eat the fruit or to make fruit juice from the fruits in their land. They can only struggle to buy little portions of the fruit juice when it has been made and packaged by the stranger for them to drink.

It seems I have forgotten how the story ended, however, I am giving you an assignment

ASSIGNMENT
Which of the two communities has a workable plan for peace and progress? Rimea or Igena?
Which of the two communities represents the United States of America?
Does any of the two communities represent Nigeria? If so, which one?
How can Igena community resolve their differences and move on to peace and progress?
Should the families abandon the stranger’s manual and go their separate ways?
Or should the families formulate a new plan for their partnership?

Thank you for following the 6th episode of Restartnaija, Make sure you share this video with at least 10 Nigerians who are capable of social reasoning. Next week we shall discuss the difference between constitution as a manual for a society and as a plan by the society, in order to determine which one should work for peace and progress in a society.

Politics / Calming The Storm And Working With The Opposition by restartnaija: 10:56am On Mar 16, 2017
After the 2015 general elections in Nigeria, the opportunity to have a formidable leadership under the new APC government presented itself when the PDP candidate willingly conceded defeat. Yet, the new party handlers failed to calm the storm, sue for peace and utilize the opportunity to get the good will from all quarters, especially the last administration. They failed to create a sustainable bridge to work with the opposition politicians.

2016 was one of the most heated campaign years in the history of the United States of America. Both the Republican and the Democrat candidates washed their dirtiest underwear in public. President Donald Trump would employ the most vulgar terms to describe his opponent, Hilary Clinton and her principal supporter, President Barack Obama. Hilary Clinton did not also spare much in employing humiliating adjectives for describing Donald Trump. However, once the election was ended and the final verdict was given by the Electoral College, both parties sheathed their swords. In an unexpected turn for many observers, during his victory speech, Donald Trump praised his opponent, Hilary Clinton. He described her in the kindest words as caring mother and civil icon. After his inauguration, he retained fifty of President Obama’s officers in order to sustain the growth initiated by Obama, who he faulted as incompetent during the campaign.

Abraham Lincoln understood the tact in working with opposition when he said: do I not destroy my enemies when I make them friends. It could be said that the elements in the past administration in Nigeria are all corrupt and irredeemable demons, deserving no friendly relationship otherwise they ‘chop the yams again’. There has been a consistent stream of the media presentations about the billions and zillions of naira and dollars that were allegedly looted by elements in the past administration. Still it appears to some that the corruption fight is a targeted clampdown on the opposition, using all security apparatus in the nation, in order to subdue the ‘irredeemably corrupt PDP demons, abi na yam eaters dem dey call am’.

However, Dale Carnegie says, if you want to gather honey, don’t strike the bees. This means, if you want to get the best cooperation from people, even your opposition, do not focus on the negative. Your inability to see the good in other people remains an inability, a weakness, and not a strength. Though there are undeniable cases of corruption, the past administration recorded commendable economic development in foreign investments, agriculture, banking, management of Niger-Delta and other sectors of the nation. These strides could have been recognized and sustained, yet the new administration chose to focus on the negative. It assumes the place of the vulture that focuses on dead meat (faults of other administration), instead of searching live meat (good developments to build upon).

We are faced with the result of focusing on dead meat, as we battle recession, but it is not too late to adopt the administrative principles of Abraham Lincoln: do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.

Politics / Transcript Of Episode 3: Principles Of A Healthy Social Structure by restartnaija: 5:24pm On Feb 23, 2017
Welcome to the third episode of Restartnaija
Last week, we spoke about the reasons for which we may have to overlook the faults of Nigeria towards her citizens, in order to establish a social structure that will guarantee a better nation. We noted that the most important element for peace and progress in a society is the understanding of social structure, which is followed by an installation of an adequate social structure for a country. That last week also, we failed to mention the consequences of the indifference of entrepreneurs to the reformation of the nation’s political structure, which is the effect of bad economic policies on the security and business atmosphere of entrepreneurs.

Today we shall begin the explanation of contemporary progressive social structures, in order to determine the structure that guarantee peace and progress in our present social arrangement. Presently, the most popular and acceptable name for an independent and sovereign social structure in the world is country. Hence, we are to discuss the organization of countries in the present times and how this system of organization promotes peace and progress for the citizens of the different countries.

What is a country? A country is a politically organized body of people under a single government. It is a system of social organization in which people of different constituent communities are organized to develop their potentials and contribute to the larger community, in exchange for their safety, means of livelihood and freedom to pursue a full measure of happiness.

We identified country as a system. A system is a group of things, pieces of equipment that are connected or work together. Examples of system include human body, computer, cars and different machines. Different levels of system can be divided as micro and macro systems.

A country is a macro-system since it is the combination of different communities of human families and communities. In this research, the smaller system of social structure which is made up of families and villages will be called social microsystem or ethnic community, while the larger system which is a combination of different smaller systems will be called a macro-system or country.

We shall use the example of the relationship between the component parts in a car (automobile) system to illustrate the relationship between different ethnic communities in a country. In a car, several working microsystems are assembled, aligned and connected to one another. Each of these microsystem that has been brought into the system of the car, has its own principle or value that determines what it is able to produce and thus contribute to the overall system of the car.

Please do not forget that we said that:
A system is a group of things, pieces of equipment that are connected to work together.
A micro system is a group of simpler objects that are connected to work together
A macro system is a group of smaller systems that are connected to work together.

A car is a macro-system because it is the connection of different microsystems such as battery, horn, headlamp/light, alternator, axle, brake, radiator, gearbox, sparkplugs and so on. Each of the microsystems (parts) is guided by a value or principle that determines what it produces for the car, and how it has to be maintained for sustained productivity.

Distinction of micro-system in a macro-system
The battery is a microsystem which is made up of several components such as battery cells, cell connector, cell plate, plate separators, cell partition, terminal, container and others. All these parts connect and work together to produce electric charges which starts, lights and ignites the car engine (contra-drain without charging)

Alternator system picks up the function of powering other parts of the car when the car has been started, in order to enable the battery to charge.
Radiator is guided by a cooling principle, which makes it serve as a coolant for the engine (contra-rust and leak)

Gearbox is guided by the principle of transmitting energy, which it provides to the car system by transmitting energy from the car engine to the car wheels.

Conditions for functionality of micro system in a macro system.
• All these microsystems must be in good condition, that is having internal maturity
• The microsystems must be compatible to work with one another – blood transfusion
• The micro systems must be aligned to check their load capacity in the macro-system
• The microsystems must be properly connected to one another in accordance with their matching and alignment

Human society – from ethnic community to country
As it is in the process of a car, so is it in the process of a human society. Before the formation of a country, each ethnic community (microsystem) has its own values, the emotional and socio/cultural principles that have influenced the people’s ways of life and their major lines of productivity and cultural engagement. These values are outlined and synthesised by the guardians of the community, who are chosen from the wise and observant men from different parts of the community. From their observation, they note that, ‘we have fertile land and some water bodies, we value riches, peace and progress, technical knowledge and hence we suggest to extol the virtues of hard-work (farming/fishing) for riches, virtue of respect for peace and virtue of curiosity for progress.

When the ethnic community feels the need and decides to align with other community (ies), in order to obtain what they lack in their community, a new set of discussion is made between the communities.

Conditions for harmonious co-habitation between allying communities, just like in the car
• Each community must have good social and industrial values for peace and productivity
• Each community should be ready to tolerate and respect the values of the other
• Each community in the new alliance must declare its assets and liabilities, that is, what it has to offer to the new union (principles, values, productivity, knowledge, culture) and what it demands from the union (support, defence, opportunity for development). The communities state and agree on their terms and conditions for aligning with one another in a new social structure.
• After the communities have agreed on the terms and conditions for organization, they write down a constitution that will stipulate their agreed rights and duties in the new social structure for the maintenance of peace and progress. The writing of constitution is done in accordance with common sense and with the injunction of the noble Quran which says: “O ye who believe, when ye deal with each other, in transactions involving future obligations in a fixed period of time, reduce them to writing” Al Baqarah, 282
This is similar to the beginning of the journey of the United States of America’s constitution of “We The People”. The most important element in the formation of these model situations of national formation and constitution is the element of mutual agreement between the constituent parts of the nation.

This theory may be criticised as utopian since many countries were forged from war, submission and colonialism, yet along the line, this stage of agreement has occurred and must continue to occur in the history of every sustainable democratic and progressive nation. It is an indispensable stage for re-evaluating the basis of nationhood and the values that has guided the union of different communities for peace and progress.

In our next edition, we shall compare the ideal process of national formation with the formation of the Nigerian nation. God bless you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
