@revlution,
I hope you say my explanation on customs enforcement units.
Now my advice to you is to immediately send someone to the Benin customs house to find out the state of things. Once your designated person gets to the customs house in Benin he should go to the legal seat and request an interview with the o/c Legal seat.
Each impounded vehicle has a case file, that is the document that can tell you if your vehicle is on detention or if has been seized.
You must get to the root of this matter in order to know the next step to take.
I wish you Gods speed and good luck. I am giving you this advise because this character called inspired has a history of falsification of customs documents on thede boards.
Get some one to go to Benin to investigate the state of the vehicle. A word is enough for the wise ones.
I have taken note of the above.
Thank you once again.

I am going to be realistic here.
There are two enforcement sections of every customs formation. There is the state command enforcement section, that is the Edo/Delta enforcement section based in Benin.
Secondly there is the Federal operations section with its headquaters in Lagos zone A. This enforcement section as the name implies is federal and superior to the local enforcement in Benin.
Since inspired has claimed the vehicle is in Benin I will assume the vehicle was impounded by the state enforcement unit.
Now the tricky part.
The vehicle was impounded on 19th of May and today is 1st of July, which is over a month since the vehicle was impounded.
Customs only impound vehicles for the following reasons-
1. Falsification of documents.
2.undepayment of duty. That is maybe a 2015 vehicle which pays a higher duty passed off as a year 2000 vehicle which pays a lower duty.
If a vehicle is guilty of underpayment it will be entered as a DETENTION in the station diary and may be released after a D/N is issued and the difference in duty is paid.
However if the documents are found to be falsified and NO duty has been paid, the vehicle will be entered in the station diary as a SEIZURE and can not be released except condemned at a high court and then auctioned accordingly as an act of a court to the highest bidder.
Please be guided accordingly.

Ok we are making progress. These are the facts right now

1. From may 19th your car has spent about 6 weeks with Benin customs.

2. Any paper issue that got that Benz tied down for 6 weeks is not a small matter.

3. Its possible that Inspired trip to the USA caused a delay in sorting the problem but he could have cut his trip short if that is the case. That doesn't speak well of his customer service ethics. Despite that,We have to give him some benefit of doubt.

4. What is inspired plan to get this customs paper sorted when you both spoke?

5. If the custom problem can be sorted with about 200 to 300k tell inspire to fund your relatives so they do the clearing.

6. My conclusion is that you should send your relatives to Benin with the vehicle details asap. Let them give you on the spot assessment of the problem on ground. There is no need of waiting for one more week since your location is close to Benin City.

I have responded but can you answer those questions here so that people won't think I want to scam you. Just trying to help.

I have used inspired way back in 2010 ,I don't know how or when things got this bad.
To answer your questions to the best of my knowledge from the information I was given by inspired autos
1) car was seized due to problems with customs papers.
2)I was informed by inspired that car impounded by customs on 19/5/2015
3) solution is still pending, as inspired autos is still trying to resolve the issue.
4) arrangements made for relative to verify car.

2. When was the car seized in Benin so we can have an idea of how long the issue has remain unresolved?

4. Can you send a relative to check for you?

You are certainly a fool, what issues is he sorting with Customs. If the car was entered as detention in the station diary, there's certainly hope for the OP as he's entitled to a grace period to pay duty for the car but if the car in question was entered as seizure in the station diary, the OP can kiss the car goodbye. Inspired claimed he paid duty for the car and as a moderator, you should have asked him why the car was impounded in the first place if he truly paid duty for it. My guess is that Inspired bought the car @either Seme or Idiroko and smuggled it in as it's quite difficult(not saying it's impossible) to fly the car out of the port without valuation assessment and duty payment. If not for the docile(mumurity) nature of the OP,I would have contacted my colleague @FOU Benin to help confirm the status of the car.
Sir,
Please can I send you the VIN of the car/car details so your colleague can help me confirm the status of the car in Benin.
I will cover the costs if needed. Just let me know.

Didn't get any pm.
Car or Cash, which do you want?
State your choice here and forget his plea and phone call smooching.

I will go for the car since he insists it is still impounded at the customs office.
Asking for cash, he may agree to pay back but will pay back in instalments over a long period of time of which by then, the cash payment will loose it's bulk usefulness.
As this car was pre-ordered online , I was able to note down all the online details of the advertised car then including the VIN number.
If he delivers the car, I will cross check it with the details I already have and also have the customs paper he has reprocessed vetted by customs themselves before I can close this case.I will also make sure the car is screened by Benz experts for verification . It will cost me, I know but it's important . If there are any irregularities, he should be ready to face all the consequences.
Also the authorities involved are fully aware of this arrangement.
Let's give him time for his further updates and progress.
He cannot escape from this one now.
Thank you.

i am a very silent nairalander for over 8 years and av done/bought over 10 cars here on nl.
been following this thread since its creation and it baffles me how sombody would build a name only to destroy it with arrogance.....

@inspired, pride comes before downfalls. you av failed to manage the crises properly from the beginning (probably because its becoming ur way) and what erver image laundry u try to do now is late as u av lost so many potential customers right here on NL.... u were made from this online platform and u are about to bring urself down from same.....

@ inspired supporters.... na wa!!! read the thread from beginning and cover ur faces in shame... u definately are worse than inspired and should b d first to b brought down

@ revolution, i salute ur patience and maturity on this but a simple question to ask inspired when next u speak with him is: since he claims customs av the car, tell him to tell u which custom office seized the car... after-all, custom office is not a trip to hell( were one wouldnt return) ask somone to verify the truth in that story by going to at least see the car and veryfy the degree of truth in it. 2) from most of ur post, lay emphasis on not getting full regisstration doc of ur car but kindly note that u would av gotten at least a scanned copy of the car registration document if the car or the documents actually exist... and if u decide to let go, you would need to apologise to nairalanders especially those that are ready to stick their heads out for u ( cos ur thread has raised a dust like never before and u chicken out wen pple don dey anticipate a lot.....

@ Moderator... good that u soft pedaled but kindly note that ur act is termed as aiding and abetting a crime if it doesnt go to u being an accomplise if u keep banning pple, remember that without all nairalanders, there is no nairaland

@ seun osewa.... kindly look at where u are coming from and please dont allow some south going fellow to drag u along and as i know from previous acts, threads ave been trashed but before trashing, was due deligence actually conducted? do u communicate/appease the posters before trashing their threads?

we all look forward to a crime free nairaland

cheers

The bolded part have been noted. It is all part of my ongoing investigations presently.
Inspired eventually called like I earlier wrote , thanks to this thread and NLders , and has has reiterated that he is still sorting out customs issue about the car.
He has also said he will give me further updates about the car next week. He has not mentioned about a specific delivery date yet.
I have already waited for 5months , frustrating as it is but at least he has managed to communicate, let's see what the next few days will bring about.
I will keep all updated till this issue is resolved.
Thanks.

Revlution, I have waited for you to comment ever since. From time to time I checked your profile to observe your "last seen", at intervals the time has changed but no comment from you.
I will assume any of the following:
- you were given a ban.

- your dealer has given you another timeline which you wanna wait for.

- the mod persuaded you to chill.

- you wanna let the whole issue slide and let karma do her work.

- you wanna do it your own way or you are already doing it your own way.

All the best to you sir. Do have a blessed time. Bye.

Mod and site owner don't help matters. You all know inspiredm left, right and center but you prefer to shield him and never bring him out.

Hide my post and faint for 3hours or 3days....which ever comes last angry

Please sorry for the silence.
I have been busy making contacts all day with people that can help me facilitate physical investigation in Lagos about this issue. Also I have been making attempts at involving the appropriate government Authorities. This is all done in proxy as I don't reside locally and it has required lots Of calls and feedbacks.
However Inspired autos has eventually called me on the phone just now and after a very long discussion involving pleas and apology, has asked me to give him more time to sort out customs issues and that my car will be delivered.

lawyer000:

I am not in support of Inspired, but i am against the herd hatred mentality.
All the op will get on this thread is sympathy and name calling on inspired, that is all and all these will not give the op his money or the car.
Inspired has a physical showroom, go there and resolve your issues with him.
Most of other pre order sellers here DONT even have a showroom, that is a plus for inspired autos because it makes him traceable.
Coming to nairaland to post a thread will not resolve nothing except if you've crossed your mind and is just going all out to tarnish his image.
Nairaland is not a legal institution for conflict resolution, this is not a police station or court of law.
Go to Inspired autos showroom and reach a resolution with him.
Forget all the rubbish posts from trolls on here, these thread is just keeping them busy from Nigeria's day to day stress.

Lawyer000, you joined nairaland recently at the heat of this thread ,on June 25 you posted a thread about how inspired auto delivered a Benz car to you after 7 weeks. You claimed you ordered this car in April 2015 and inspired auto delivered to you after 7weeks assuming this is true.
I ordered mine in February and inspired autos disappeared into the thin air after collecting my money with no communication whatsoever. For close to 5months now inspired autos in on the loose, and only reappeared after this thread was opened to save his already broken reputation.
You mentioned that issues should be resolved by going to inspired autos show room and sorting it out with him.
Listen, the reason why I ordered online from inspired autos was because I don't stay locally, ordering online seemed more convenient at the time as I have had previous online car transactions which has gone smoothly. Inspired auto assured me heaven and earth that this car will be delivered in record time as he is so good at his job. If only I knew.
You should also know that if inspired autos is doing genuine business, there will be no issues to resolve, what you order is what you get in due time. If there are any delays , inspired autos owes me an explanation as to why that is, but rather he chooses to run away with the money.
I never had to go to any online car dealers physical show room to resolve issues, because there were no issues to resolve. All the terms and conditions that applied to their car business, they kept to it all.
There were no unnecessary delays, they constantly communicated all moves through emails and phone calls. They even call me to remind me about certain details of my business transaction with them, I received all requested paper works through email and post.
Every transactions they made with me was in black and white, crystal clear. It was top notch professionalism, people that know what decency and integrity means.
But look at the criminal inspired autos, he has not even sent a mere invoice for full payment of the car to me after 3months of payment let alone the registeration documents of the car.
You said I should go to his show room and meet him, when he cannot even pick up your calls or reply emails to book a simple appointment, assuming he knows what booking appointment is.
When did inspired autos reply to me after weeks of calling and emailing him, was it not after this thread surfaced, that was when he threw in his ignorant and arrogant comment in this section.
Are you trying to tell me he doesn't know he pocketed my 2.64million and ran away to USA.
Inspired auto is nothing but a cheap fraudster, and very heartless at that.
If you read my post well, the primary reason why this thread was opened was to inform and pre alert people about the woes associated with dealing with inspired autos, as I do not want anyone to be maltreated the way I have been by inspired auto. As much as I have appreciated the support of NLders on this thread, I am not here to seek sympathy.
You can see the heartache it has saved a lot of people.
If this is the first time inspired autos has been implicated in a fraudulent business's deal , that will be different.
But there have been quite a number of such complaints about him here, which means that people that are condemning his actions are not trolls or haters but telling the truth. If only I saw them earlier.
His actions should be condemned as it is also affecting the reputation of other car dealers here.
Inspired autos should come back and face the full consequences of his action and the law.
Enough said.

OP, write a petition detailing the details of this transaction to:

The Deputy Commissioner of Police,
State Criminal Investigation Department,
Lagos State Police Command,
MAK. Smith (Former Panti) Street,
Yaba, Lagos.

Also copy this address:

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police
Nigeria Police Force,

Take a copy of the letter to the bank that you made payment to and make them acknowledge receipt of it. Also, obtain your account statement and attach it to the letter.

Most importantly, ensure you copy both the American and the British Embassies in Lagos. This ensures he is deported ASAP to face investigation here. Also, he would NEVER get an American or British visa in this lifetime.

From your write up it is obvious you do not understand the purpose of this thread, this thread is primarily constructive and informative and should definitely be made front page so that more people can be aware of this evil man called Inspired autos.
The deed has been done already and one cannot change what has happened over the past 5months, but the legal actions that he will face in the nearest future once he sets his foot in Nigeria will be something he will never forget. People have different ways of punishing perpetrators like inspired autos. He is a hardened criminal and will be treated as such.
So I repeat that you desist from unnecessary insults and inappropriate display of anger about this incident. Your comments are distracting and in no way supports the purpose of this thread.
Inspired autos can run all he can, but he will definitely be caught and be treated like the criminal he is.

If you do online purchases regularly, you will understand that online business eg Amazon, eBay operate based on trust which they instil on their customers by keeping to the contract of their agreement and delivering the ordered products.
If you read my previous posts, I have purchased a car online and it was delivered at the appropriate time with no hassle. The only reason why I did not use that car dealer was that he did not have the car specs I wanted.
You have to understand that the primary reason why I am posting this incident between me and Inspired autos is to PRE -ALERT people about the dangers of this pre order mess with inspired autos.
I do not want innocent people to scammed by inspired autos, a man that cannot keep to his own side of the bargain irrespective of how much he makes through his business. Already some people that have come across this post have been informed about who to , and who not to buy cars from again. This has saved them undue stress and will help them make better choices when it comes to online purchases in Nigeria.
The thing is, if you have not been scammed before, it is very easy to blame and insult people that fall victim to such people. This is uncalled for.
You have to understand that Inspired autos has been given me lots of ridiculous reasons as to why he is unable to deliver my car for nearly 5 Months now, from bad fuel, to customs paper issues, etc. As flimsy as his excuses may sound, he has your money, and all you have to do is investigate, take action and pre alert people. This is exactly the purpose of this thread.
These highlighted excuses that inspired autos gives , which is mentioned here will also enlighten people about his various ways of fraud. This is because fraudsters are masters in their dubious acts that they keep devising different ways to rip unsuspecting people off their hard earned money.
In as much as I appreciate everybody who has shown understanding regarding this issue, I am not here to seek for sympathy. I am here to share my own experience so that others can learn from it and be on guard.
Already I am processing all paper work to escalate this issue with the government authorities with my legal team.
He says he will be in the country by next week.
I am waiting for him.

The main danger now is that so long as his website is up and running, Internet savvy people will still order cars not knowing his fraudulent reputation.
His website is quite flashy and convincing , giving off the air of someone that runs a legitimate business. He puts up photos of flashy cars to attract people.
His website is a trap to unsuspecting customers especially people living abroad, as online shopping here is very reliable and traceable.
People will then tend to patronise him through that website thinking he runs a legitimate business only to end up with unimaginable distress.

@op this guy could possibly be looking for a car that exactly match this car description to steal hence bringing about the delay. Just be careful when he delivers as I'm speaking from experience also make a case against him. You can go to command in ikeja and do so, do not take chances.
You are right, my suspicion earlier was that either he sold off the original car I ordered at a higher price or the car never arrived the shores of Nigeria.
There's also a tendency that he could get another car that looks exactly the same to replace the original order hence the delay. This replacement car could either be an accident car , flood car or even a stolen car.
If it turns out to be a stolen car that he delivers then that will be very risky.
I will take necessary actions like you have suggested to cover myself incase he delivers a stolen vehicle to me since he has failed to scan me the Registration documents of the car.
No peace for the wicked, Inspired autos.

I empathise with the Op and I will do same if I were in his shoes. The only mistake the OP made was not having someone on ground in Nigeria to do Physical Inspection for him. But then;

Inspiredm has his shortcomings and pitfalls but he still remains the king of Nairaland Auto Biz.

How many Autodealers have successfully delivered a 2015 Range Rover Autobiography on this forum?

Cut the guy some slack. He will deliver the car. He always does.

This is not the first time inspired autos has been implicated in a messy car business deal. The mistake i made was that I did not research about him before placing my car order with him cos if I did, I will never have paid him a dime.he definitely has a stinking reputation.
I only researched about him after his activities became suspicious and lo and behold, there it was, in black and white, all about his dubious ways and despicable services.
By then the wolf has taken all the money and switched off.
In online business, it's is not mandatory that you inspect products physically before you buy.
I shop regularly online. The last car I shipped for my mother was an Audi car, and I bought it online(I never visited the garage, I only went by the specs of the car), the car dealership drove the car themselves to the port and it was shipped to Nigeria. I contacted a clearing agent on the phone who helped ship and clear it at the port and drove it directly to the delivery address I gave them. All this was done in record time without me setting eyes on the car seller or the clearing agent.
This is what I call transparency, honesty and professionalism in business. Why will I not patronise them again.
Inspired auto claiming to be a top online auto dealer, knows this and should be able to render services within the binding contract of his online business. He posts on his website that car delivery is within 31 days.
It's nearly 5months and he is no where to be found, and unreachable, through phone or email, but he was readily accessible prior to collecting all the money.
Is this not fraud. Has he not breached his contract.
It is not about him being able to deliver the latest model car in Nigeria, its about how he goes about it. He probably uses that scheme to defraud people .
I do appreciate everybody that has been sympathetic about this situation, especially people that have been brutalised by inspired autos activities.
It is not about you asking thread contributors to cast a stone if they have never sinned.
Everybody sins, but when sinning becomes repeated and conscious, that person is a hardened criminal, this goes for inspired autos.
He definitely does not learn from his mistakes, and he will continue repeating this conscious act of fraudulence if you continue to encourage and support him.
If you have been maltreated the way he has been to willing buyers here, you will be in a better position to make a more sensitive comment on this case.
It's either you advice him against his behaviour because I will definitely get to the bottom of this case no matter what it takes me. He will definitely not go scot free.
He has had enough.

Sometimes it's good to give the devil a long rope he will use to hang himself.
From his reply on this thread , he says he will be back to Nigeria by next week.
The issue is, why did he collect all the money and travel out of the country knowing he had an unfinished business to settle. He is using other people's money to run side business, while the client suffers not knowing it is a breach of contract.
His lies will soon run out, but all this will be used against him appropriately as an evidence when the right time comes by then he will regret his life.

Please reach me So We can Sort Delivery
Inspired autos,
Ever since I completed the full payment of this car to you almost 3 months ago, I gave you all the details for the delivery of this car.
I gave you the delivery address, 2 contact phone numbers of people that will receive the car and hard copy of the car documents.
The contacts I gave you have been contacting you also to know when the car will be delivered and you talk to them rudely and tell them you have sorted everything out with me.
Meanwhile I contact you and you don't communicate with me and u ignore all my calls and email.
If you truly have this car, please deliver to the original address and inform the contacts for pick up.
You know fully well that I am not in the country and I told you this right from the very beginning I called you to buy this car from you, you informed me that you will register this car, service it and deliver it to any address of my choice with added cost which I gladly paid you, totalling 2.64million.
I do not know what else you want us to sort out with regards to delivery since you have everything you need and ever asked for.
If you do not have money to fuel the car and deliver it, I will happily reimburse you once I get the car.
Still waiting...
Thanks.
