Mr/Mrs TWoods,

I guess I'll be channelling my response to you cos it seems you're the most vocal to my question and that of a similar question. I wouldn't have replied though but I had to because despite all the comments none had actually said anything to help out and then I understood why 0b100100111 was furious with you. All have suddenly turned Consular. And mind you, God has been fully involved in every aspect of my life though I can't say the same about you, you can answer that for yourself.

I've heard the word ''2 heads is better than 1'' but I'll go with ''1 good head is better than a thousand bad ones". I am an engr, I solve problems and I'm able to achieve that feat via the power of collective effort cos no one is an island of knowledge hence the reason why I share my experience with the forum hoping to get ideas from others.

I paid for the visa fee last year Aug while I was on an emergency 7 days leave hoping to come for the interview by January this year and subsequently proceed on the vacation to the US but my leave was cancelled due to work overload. I learnt that the visa fee would expire after a year so I got another 1 week emergency leave while everything had been put in place and appointment date fixed. I filled date of travel for June to fulfilled all righteousness because i honestly didn't take it as a do or die affair as I'm very ok where I am currently with my work status. If I hadn't paid for the visa fee I wouldn't have bothered and if my request for emergency leave hadn't been granted I wouldn't have showed up either. I am saying this so you know my antecedent and so you don't conclude that all Nigerians are fraud.

I have been gone for almost 9 months before coming for the interview and its natural that I meet my wife ...so to clear you illusion, she wasn't pregnant when we went for the interview cos it was 5 days after my arrival and I wasn't expecting the application would be approved cos I am a practical person and i planned for the worst, believe me if you can wrap your brain around it, but I have this confidence that it will because what they want to establish is that you will be returning after your visit based on a strong tie you have in your home country or place of domicile and when he ask me my salary he has no reason to reject my application, as a matter of fact...the interview was less that 1minute 30 seconds. I could easily bought the ticket on the same day, pay for the hotel and be on my way to US after picking up the visa at DHL but for my work. Had to overstay because of the pickup of the visa.

Birthing in the US wouldn't make the baby become the President of the United State, what I mean is...its not a big deal. I was born and grew up in Oworonshoki Lagos but I was determined to make a success of my life and with God's help and self determination I am what I am today. I was not born in VGC or Ikoyi talk-more of US but that hasn't prevent me from becoming what God has set me up to be. What I am saying is...not everybody is a fraud like you presumed, be more civil when discussing on social media don't assume you know it all. I and the other guy merely ask a question. If she's been pregnant before my interview that would have been a perfect reason to apply for the appropriate visa but its partially not impossible and like I said, it was after a week of my arrival at my base that she called to inform me about the development, even up till now she hasn't gone for a PT so I can be sure.

Like I said previously, a lot of advice was forthcoming...I wanted to plan for her and the boys to go and spend 2 weeks but someone said since the visa was issued together...that they might prevent her entry or prevent me when I will be going.

Also, I planned that she have the baby here...that would be next year and we'll apply for the baby's visa then someone said we won't be allow to take a 6 month old baby into the US despite granting the visa until the baby is 1 yr 6 months...I was so confused.

These were the situation I found myself before deciding to come looking for help or advice here only to be met by all knowing, self acclaimed VO, CBP, etc yet they don't seem to proffer any solution or advice but for the exception of the 1st person that replied to my post.

Dear Nairalander,

I urgently need help concerning my case which I'll explain below so you good people can grasp my condition and help out accordingly:

We applied for B1/B2 Tourist visa on the May 26th and to God be the glory it was issued to the entire family of four...myself, my wife, 5yrs and 3 yrs old boys. We were supposed to go to New York for the vacation by June but duty calls due to some urgent concern at my company and I had to return to my work station in Qatar where I'm working as an Engineer, we then agreed to postponed the vacation till January 2017 which would be my annual leave.

My wife called a week later that she think she was pregnant and I've been having a sleepless night ever since because a lot of things are at stake, I immediately begin to make inquiry how this new development would impact our chance of getting to US by January considering the pregnancy would be 7 months or thereabout and evident hence it can't be hidden from the officer at the POE.

I am capable to finance the birth of my child in the US but my challenge is...would they allows us entry into the US because I've heard series of advise from people....

- some said I should enter before the pregnancy becomes 3 months by when it would be obvious and noticed by the CBP
- some said even at 7 months, they will allow us entry provided we can show evidence of medical reports from a US hospital
- some said we'll be deny and the visa cancelled.

I can't leave Qatar now as my annual is not until January except I want to resign my position.

Pls good people, I need your advise cos decision needed to be made.

Thanks.

@Mykeolinks:

Are you actually serious, to come get your used cage that contains 360 birds per unit for 170k while I've seen where to make new ones containing 72 birds per unit at 40k, therefore for 1000 birds would be 14 cages at 560k which is still ok considering its new.
If you're asking for a reasonable price after calculating depreciation value let me know.....pm me at blessed.ajagunna@gmail.com, your location, why you're selling them and attached pictures.

Regards.

How do I go about making my orders for the POL, is it cash and carry or what, how much should I be expecting to get it per unit and could I get a discount for purchasing 1000 birds.
At the moment I'm already making all necessary arrangement for the pen I'm renting, also trying to see where I could get a good locally fabricated cage at a good offer for the 1000 POL, any advice in these regards is highly welcome.

Thanks alakara, babacele...really appreciate your timely response and contributions.

In all sincerity I am really impressed with the responses given considering I'm a newbie on this trend and in this field but the power of technology and internet has really enhanced my little knowledge couple with the supports of gurus here and owing to their benevolent nature as regarding sharing and dissemination information to all and sundry.
This has greatly enhanced, empower and encouraged novice like myself and my others to venture into this area thereby helping to generate extra income or provide outright employment to teeming Nigerian youth.

I salute everybody in the house who has one way or the other contributed to the success of this forum and I hope to one day be in a position to give back to the society and add my own quota.

Hello guys,

Please I need your advise because I'm thinking about starting my own poultry with POL of 1000 birds and I'd love if someone can point me in the right direction on where to get good breed of birds at a competitive price based on personal relationship/dealings with the seller.

@ alakara,
Thanks a bunch for the piece of advice. I've thought about starting with doc but later dropped the idea bocs of some reasons. I intend to start with POL then introduce doc along the line by which time I would have been familiar with the nitty gritty of the field.

But thanks all the same.

Another question, can some incorporate fish farming along with the poultry? any health issue to be expected or something like that?

Hello House,

I'm new to the poultry farming business but still I'm in love with the profession hence my approaching the house and experts who's experience and invaluable contributions and opinion would be highly appreciated.
I want to venture into the field with a 1000 birds (Layers), my questions are:

1. Should I go for a day old birds or POLs as a newbie in the field.
2. Cost implication of both categories.
3. Challenges to be anticipated in both categories.
4. What type and where to source for both classes of birds, poultry is to be situated close to Ifo along Abeoukta Expressway.
5. Any other suggestions will greatly welcome.

Thanks.

Hello house,

Honestly I don't know where to start or what to say exactly but first I'll commend the spirit of ''I CAN DO'' that most Nigerians possess that drives us to want to succeed against all odds despite the challenges and obstacles staring us in the eyes as a result of the inept govt we have that pay lip service to agriculture in the land where agriculture is our natural occupation before the advent of civilization and the coming of white slave masters to our shores.

Kudos to okine4real for creating this trend and the 1st group of guys that keeps the discussion alive with practical hand-on experience and attached photographs to rekindle our zeal, it has really lifted my spirit for I'm so happy leaning on the shoulders of you guys and tapping from your vast experience due to your contributions that sought to enlighten others from making the same mistake some of you encountered.

I literally went through the 17-pages trend in a go and it has broaden the little knowledge I have in farming especially Oil Palm farming. This is a great advantages of the internet and modern technology and I'd wish most of our jobless youth roaming the streets of our cities in their sagged trousers carrying phones that their worth is equivalent to acres of land in the villages would so much look up this page in the phones they're carrying around. This would have mopped up unemployment from our dear country and made us employer of work-force.

I've always being an avid supporter of agriculture and farming though in a large scale but Rome they said was not built in a day, I'm a civil engr by profession but has passion for farming and I intend to retire to it someday hence I'm planning to start with a little...we could start small and go big, Dangote starts from somewhere but most of our youths are contended working for 40k a month, that's if they were lucky to get such a job and it really sadden me.

But once again kudos to all commentators on the forum.....,okine4real, felixzo1, igbonla, mangam, chief consultant tjadeniyi.

On the final note, I'll really appreciate if anyone tell me where I can get say 30 hectares of land in readiness for my adventure into this money ritual farming and as expected where the price would be considerable ok for this sort of investment.

Thanks a bunch and I wish those who have already planted a bountiful harvest.
