You can see why nobody takes you guys serious. You hate the truth and scream everyday on NL that you are being marginalized. You call people playing smart politics marginalization. Let me tell you the SW is busy developing their region and maximizing the good relationship they have with Buhari administration to get all they need at this time. The north is working hard to pressure Buhari to complete the rail line. They know once the rail line gets to Kano it is like bringing the seaport to Kano and they will get it given the new loan they are facilitating at federal level. When GEJ a PDP man was there with all your kinsmen with him what did they influence to the SE? You guys were busy looting and playing dumb politics. Politics for self for myself and I. I have deep sympathy for SE but I do not see things change for the region in the nearest future given the rate of emigration of youth and smart minds from the region. I would have suppose that should be your concern. As Igbo move away from their region to populate other regions they help increase goods and services in those regions and deprive SE of such services. Simple economic suggests industries follow the region with high demands for goods and services. Government has no choice than to improve infrastructures in the regions that produces the desperately needed jobs and revenue. SW understood this simple logic long time ago and the North is rapidly getting the gist too. You are welcome to wail and cry all the time while others make use of their transient advantage. 1 Like |

It's not a function of holding them accountable. A vast majority of the tribe don't love fairness, merit, that's the only reason why Federal Character is enshrined in our constitution.
If the rest of the majority decides to take loan and improve there spaces, excluding them like the case of $22 billion, what do you expect them to do?
It's called conspiracy. if the nationals are taxed to pay back will they spare us? Didn't you hear Abaribe shouting over the exclusion of the Eastern part? Again you are not making any sense. The guy just told you guys to look inward and ask your Senators and reps questions you are still blaming others for focusing on their own region. I wonder how you blame people that are simply doing their job. I remember the role Senator Ekeremadu and many Senators from Igbo land played in the last Senate when the same loan proposal was tabled on the floor of the Senate. Most senators from Igbo land went against it because it was Buhari. They did nothing when they were in leadership position in the Senate because they were blindfolded with hatred for Buhari and his party. Now that APC is in charge, a party you never voted for you need to learn how to lick your wound and move on. That loan has passed the Senate. It shall scale thru the reps with some tips for southeast. Head or tail Southeast still the biggest loser due to their style of politics of bitterness like the one Senator Abaribe is currently playing and you guys are hailing him on. If you like you can label me a fulani or ibiobio for simply telling you the truth. It is your cup of tea. 1 Like |

You only get aggressive and ask these questions when it comes to PMB and his administration, but turn a blind eye and look the other way without asking the PDP people that I'm sure you will vote for again even though for 16 years they did not commission even 1 gutter in the whole of SE.
The coastal railway languished on the drawing board under the PDP and Jona, in fact, they didn't include the SE, but not a word came out of that region, no question asked, but now all of a sudden it's a different story.
PMB is naturally a good leader and a wonderful human being, you don't have to ask or bang his head or even hate him to do the right thing, all the hate and bitterness flies over his head.
These governors know the difference between then and now under PMB, he doesn't lie to them, he listens to them and gives them what they want.

All ports in Nigeria are owned by the Nigerian government and they are the ones that shutdown 6 or 7 seaports in eastern Nigeria. This has absolutely nothing to do with political will, yoruba politicians never needed political will to build the Ports in Lagos Nobody short down any seaport man. Promoting falsehood and out right disregard to facts will be the undoing of the eastern Nigeria. The seaport in PH and Warri are working eastern business men just refused to use them. If only the Igbos know the negative consequence of moving out of their region in large number every year. You create increased services in the region you move into by bettering the lots of the locals at the detriment of your region where demand for services become plummet due to low population. Low population does discourage investors from investing in your region as low population equals low demand for goods and services. Igbo must find a way of slowing down the ugly trend. Government prioritize pubic spending in favour of regions that need funding the most. If you then boost other region population by emigrating into their space you are simply helping them to drive public spending. 1 Like |

My father was a teenager raised in Onitsha through the civil war, and my mum was a young girl and they both remember the brutality of it. As are many people from their generation. The irony is that it is not the generation of my father that are most bitter about the war. It is young people who were born looooong after the war who know absolutely nothing about it, but bear even more grudges about the war than their parents and grandparents. Because they radicalize themselves with so much hatred that they have to find a reason to justify that hatred. Hence foolish threads like this gloating about the misfortune of Middle Belters even though the pathetic cowards gloating would do nothing but cry, weep, grieve and run when herdsmen come to their villages to murder, pillage and destroy.

Both Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa and other tribes are one Nigeria. It is when many of us travel outside that we will know that it is one Nigeria. With the pictures of beautiful cities posted from the east and west I can brag about it anywhere in the world. Let's try and see ourselves as one. The Igbos are great so are the Yorubas. We need one another to grow this country. Lets keep the development coming. See next time we can compare Nigeria with other big countries of Africa. The Igbos and the Yorubas are one. Thesame Nigeria blood runs in us. Lets have conversation that will make us more united. I as a Yoruba should not be able to imagine Nigeria without my Igbo brother. Also the Igbos should not be able to imagine Nigeria without the Yourbas. Same with other tribes. We youths of Nairaland have work to do. Lets tackle this tribalism issue once and for all. Lets preach and kick against IPOB, Afonja and whatever that is causing division. Let's kick against those Nnamdi Kanu Spirit and spirit of division. It doesnt help. See whether you and I like it or not. We Yorubas and Igbos have come to find ourselves in thesame country. We have existed together for more than 100 years. So lets just move on. Hatred kills innovation. Tribalism kills unity which indirectly kills progress. Nigeria is not the only country with more than one tribe. So lets live in harmony and that's all. We have greater problems we need to battle together.
To me if we divide, then we have allowed tribalism problem to conquer us. And even after division if one of the tribe is not doing well should that be the joy of other tribes? Shouldn't we try and help one another. Is there crime in helping ourselves. If I see my Ibo brother stranded on the highway or involve in an accident shouldn't I be able help him or her? I ask, what is the benefit of tribalism? Can anyone here see his other tribe brother in problem and not help him? Even pple from other countries we will surely help. Abeg make we wise up. Tribalism does not have any application. We should stop this tribalism for once here on nairaland and see ourselves as brothers. If Nigeria is great today the credit won't go to a tribe but to all tribes.
Long Live One Nigeria Say No To Tribalism It is Childish. Say Yes To Unity In Diversity Igbos And Yoruba Are One. We are One Nigeria

This is a rejection of poverty and failed promises. Let great Ndi Igbo rejoice with me on this thread. This is a very myopic way of thinking. It is not yet time for Nigerians to vote for party or on party line. We are not there yet. People should vote for individuals that can deliver solutions notwithstanding political party affiliates. We need development and provision of social amenities. So parties and politicians must be made to understand that they can be changed by the people at any time. This would make political players to sit up and perform and the people would be the ultimate beneficiaries. Rejoicing that people continue to vote on party line despite consistent under performance and zero development is barbaric. I think the North and the SW are playing real politics of development and not just voting on sentiment. They have their eyes on what matters, which is development. They give it to whoever fit the box every 4years irrespective of the party. I think that is the kind of politics I want for my people. Political system should be an instrument for social engineering. It is a tool to deliver solution. If any tool is no more useful for my need I should be smart enough to change it. States like Anambra, Kano, Ekiti, Oyo and Lagos are on the path of development because of their pattern of voting over the years and the fact that politicians in those state have learn a lesson from the electorate that antidote to retaining power is through development and good governance. A state like Abia is definitely in for more hard time based on electorates response to monumental failure in governance. It beats my imagination that that governor is returned. It is a grave mistake for electorates to continue on party line in Africa despite visible lack of performance. |

Says who? How much where you expecting to earn before? The SE earns less than others because it has the smallest population and by far the smallest landmass. On average, the SE states earn similar to the non-oil producing states with few exceptions like the Kano thieves who manipulated the process to earn themselves a bigger slice. I don't know why you keep mentioning Imo and Abia's oil revenues. It's insignificant. Both states received about N38billion from FG allocation - less than non-oil producing Anambra who got 40 billion - while a state like Bayelsa was getting over 105 billion. Ondo state which is a minor oil player produces more oil than Abia and Imo combined. Abia and Imo gain more from the oil produced by other ND states than they gain from their own.
Igbo politicians are opposed to restructuring because they know their budgets depend on Niger Delta oyel. The so-called masses (to be honest, you IPOBians overestimate your following - hardly anyone I know in my whole extended family support the agitations) demand different because they are ruled by emotion and false bravado rather than objective reality. That is why you see an okada rider or keke driver carrying Biafra flag about while hustling in Lagos without shame. Can't even practise what they preach. @ Obi1kenobi... You are very intelligent. I must say I am reading smart post from that side for the first time in a very long time. How some buddies from the Southeast defend inefficiency of politicians from that side is above me. For many years a state like Ebonyi did receive a paltry 3billion naira when Bayesa cruised home with 12-14billion every month. You now ask yourself what did they do with such huge allocation every month. They had the opportunity to built one of the best resorts and tourist destination in Africa but they choose to blow the the money. Dubai crown Prince said and I quote " build it and they will come". As a minister in the Federal Cabinet of Nigeria signing a bilateral agreement on behalf of Nigeria in Qatar, tradition demands that She(Kemi Adeosun) is accorded the same respect as the President as her presence carries as much authority with the President.
Under no circumstances should a person of her capacity be subjected to conform to the cultural/religious practice of the host country.
Kemi Adeosun is a Nigerian Minister visiting Qatar, she is a foreigner, therefore she is not bound by Qatari laws or culture which can't be enforced on her.
It is utmost disrespect for her person and Nigeria as a nation to see her subjected to covering her hair to please Qatari officials. This attempt of cowardice to Qatari Islamic custom denigrates the office of the Minister of Finance and totally against Global Practice.

Performing governors and political appointees or not self-determination is an inalienable right of a people. Exclusively hyping on performance of selected politicians as the antidote to the quest of a people to self-determination at this critical moment is simply diversionary and mischievous to state the least.
This argument seems to be predicated on the premise that other governors and politicians are doing excellently better than their SE counterparts. And that is totally false and amounts to a campaign of calumny.
Which of other governors performed creditably better than Chime Sullivan, Peter Obi or Chris Ngige vis-a-vis the available funds at their disposal?
The infallible truth is that the Nigerian system has been so designed to foist notorious crooks on the people and also frustrate credible people from performing.
Indeed Igbos fare better than most tribes who have great federal government investments and the great loots from their elites. The Igbos have the highest concentration of middle-class citizens. Even with the dwindling crude oil earnings Igbo States are the least affected largely due to the fact that their economy is not crude oil dependent.
Igbos are doing fairly well individually and community-wise. The main problem is the anti-Igbo policies being implemented for the past 45 years, targeting of Igbo economy and businesses, insitutionalised discrimination, Igbo careers in federal institutions, lopsided citing of federal infrastructures and investments, killings of Igbos in non-Igbo States and destruction of Igbo means of livelihoods. Money is criminally collected from SE/SS people via institutions collectively built with the commonwealth and it is selectively used to give to free education to certain parasitic region.
The Nigerian structure is so fashioned to favour some sections while emasculating the other viable/vibrant sections. And the status quo looks very unlikely to change anytime soon. It's more likened to a journey to nowhere.
Remember that after the civil war the federal government promised to rehabilitate and reconstruct the Eastern region but subsequent evil governments diverted Gowon’s 3Rs to other regions for neglecting and under-developing the Eastern region for deliberate obvious reasons.
We live in a global village that's why you see the Igbos, Chinese, Lebanese, Indians, Americans and Italians journey to Lagos to conquer the land.
Acknowledge the simple fact that Igbos fare better than most tribes even with their numerous looting of the commonwealth and great federal government presence. The Igbos have the highest concentration of middle-class citizens while squalor and penury pervade other enclaves. You can see the reality in the shocking manner many of your States are in comatose with many of its civil servants surviving on the good gestures of concerned Nigerians.
With the dwindling crude oil earnings Igbo States are the least affected largely due to the fact that their economy is not crude oil dependent. Fayose of Ekiti government had to send some of its citizens to the SE to learn a skill/trade in a bid to grow the economy of Ekiti State.
A legitimate agitation by a people for a simple referendum is no way a crime. Reeling out old time war tales with video clips and pictures to your satisfaction reeks of hypocrisy and only meant to divert attention from the crust of the matter to the subterranean.
No one has got the moral right to impose on another his/her self-centred way of reasoning.
Come to think of this: Why do you think the government and those who have criminally benefitted and still benefitting from this contraption are quick to threaten war and resort to violence as a means to quelling a genuine agitation as against opting for a simple referendum?
In Lagos under 'One Nigeria' there seem to exist a silent economic war of destruction of livelihood, burning of markets in the middle of the night, extortion and harassment of genuine businesses by official area boys and street urchins, illegal/multiple taxing of business owners, in markets where Igbos operate e.g. Tejuoso, Alaba International and Ladipo. And now Oshodi electrical & electronic market.
Many of these attracious deeds are conducted at odd times when the traders won't be available to resist the dastardly acts.
Over the decades in the South-West, the Yorubas have systematically burnt Igbo shops as a guise to hijacking the markets from Igbos.
They hide under the guise of city development at the expense of the people's welfare and claim they had given the traders ample time to relocate and yet the demolition is carried out at odd times.
Shops are demolished without compensation and someone will still say the traders were given sufficient notice of vacation as if the alternative is affordable. The proposed alternative shops are oftentimes so exorbitant and out of reach by the common man.
Igbos are made to develop barren locations and thereafter chased away to an undeveloped area or a complex beyond the reach by the common man. Many a time the destruction of shops are selectively done exempting where Yorubas sell agbo, weed and fake medicine just like in Oshodi where Electronic shops belonging to Igbos were demolished.
It takes a callous government to destroy livelihoods just to justify beautification of a city at the expense of people's economic empowerment.

Prior to the 2015 general elections, amidst the threat by the lagoon crooner to drown Igbos, 18 Chisco transport buses were criminally burnt down in Lagos and up till date nothing was done to bring the culprits to book.
What does 'One Nigeria' mean? A deceit where you are empowered to share my crude oil and wealth as 'One Nigeria' while I am considered a migrant to your State whom you're just merely accommodating and may perish in the lagoon at your command.
It is a chaotic situation where the Oba of a place would invite the representative of a people for discussion in his palace as regards a market leadership dispute only to set an ambush for him and unleash hundreds of thugs to flog and disgrace him. And you took your bigotry to a higher level by asserting that Eze-Ndigbo is illegal and therefore banned in SW, and that it's a crime for such Igbo leader to wear cap to visit Yoruba palace!

It is an unjust situation where you're licensed to use foul means to destroy my business in your State with outrageous taxes. You can close my business premises at will while your elites continue to shout 'One Nigeria' to cover up the evils and injustices prevalent in the land. And you still expect me to be docile and continue to suffer silently as your hate and envy for my progress soar high.
Now, do you have any case for unity - fake or imaginary?
If you have there would no need fooling and playing to the gallery and shouting 'One Nigeria'. Or have you ever heard 'One Great Britain', 'One United States of America', 'One Germany'? That shows that something is fundamentally wrong which many have been shying away from.
Is it a crime for any person/group to choose to opt out of a relationship?

History subject is purposely not taught in schools to cover up lots of atrocious deeds of Igbo haters.
If you think the quest cannot guarantee you anything it doesn't mean it doesn't guarantee millions.
The Nigerian system is already rigged to fail and designed to prompt crooks to be selected for political leadership agains the wishes of the people. And some insincere folks would dare say, "blame your governors, senators and political leaders" just to divert attention from the obvious fraudulent system.
Are u surprised that unarmed people demanding their rights to self-determination are treated with impunity even till now?
Let's assume that all is well with the country, is a group of people not entitled to self-determination?
You can continue to hold on to the numerous media propaganda against Igbos and Easterners to promote your evil merchandise.
A person who says it is impossible should not disturb the person doing it.
It's not possible to brainwash anybody about the need to be free.
No one has got the moral right to impose on another his/her self-centred way of reasoning.
There's nothing like unity in Nigeria. Nairaland is a good enough mirror and a standard gauge of what your Nigeria actually is.
The Business Venture of Lord Lugard being supervised by the Islamic Fulani-led fiefdom, maintained by Hausa born-to-rule hegemony and oiled by Yoruba propaganda and lies is moribund already.
Strange bedfellows, with irreconcilable value systems that are at best suitable for the individual selves, are not meant to be together! The 102 years of existence attest to that verdict!
Freedom seekers seek freedom until it's achieved. They don't allow others define them to suit their interest and narratives, or permit the oppressors and abusers of human rights to teach them, the oppressed what human rights are. Once beaten twice shy, they say.

Masters Energy Group Industrial City company’s one-stop-shop Industrial City under construction at Onuaku – Uturu in Isikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State

Masters Energy Group, a conglomerate with over 25 subsidiaries, is poised to create 14,000 new jobs at its Industrial City under construction at Isikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State. Emotions....Emotions and Emotions as usual. Predictably, you end up defending the same politicians that have milked the region dry and continued to do so till date. People beget the kind of leaders they have. This game of "we are better than them....bla..bla..bla" will lead to no where. As developed as US and Canada are today they still look up to foreigners to invest and make contribution to their economy. They do not brag 'We are better than them , we need no body, we just want to be on our own' like many do say here. The race of trying to be better than others so that I can brag will do no Igbo any good. It is all about survival of the fittest...If you can beat them join them by any means available will only make a jungle out of a society. No sane business man either local or foreign shall invest in such a place. Defending your politicians for lack of infrastructure and blaming foreigners for your woes is laughable. Man....bad attitude is like a flat tire ,you are going no where until you change it. 7 Likes 1 Share |

I notice some quietness from my Igbo brother on this thread. It truly calls for sober reflections. Igbos have invested far more outside SE than they have ever invested in their homeland. There most be a change of attitude for any meaningful contribution to FG purse to happen. In other way round, one may not blame an average Igbo business man who continues to invest outside of his region. Perhaps the environment is not conducive enough for him to do business thus the migration to more business friendly regions. Business men will always invest where conducive environment is guaranteed and opportunity to market his product.
I suggest we begin to demand accountability, massive infrastructural development and security from our govt.
I really do not want to toll the ''marginalization'' school of thought as reason for SE situation because our politicians have always been at the helm of affairs in this nation. What have they done to vitalize the region. Igbos were almost in total control in last regime why not making the dredging of Niger river a priority then. We seems to be the architect of our fortune.
I just made my neutral opinion which I am entitled to. I shall reply only polite response. 3 Likes |

The Elegushi Royal Family has revealed its plan for the establishment of a $300 million new Imperial International Business City (IIBC). The new 200 hectare city will be built on reclaimed Lagoon extension of the kingdom and will also be the first eco-friendly smart business city in Africa. The Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi laid out his vision about the city in his palace while receiving some American investors interested in the project. He said the idea of a smart business city will address the perennial housing deficit in Lagos state and also change the landscape of real estate in Africa. The project which is a Joint-Venture between the Royal Family and Channeldrill Resources Limited will commence in April 2016 with land reclamation. According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Channeldrill, Mr. Femi Akioye, the project will be executed by some of the best drilling and architectural companies in the world. “The Elegushi Royal Family has received approval for the expansion of the Ikate Kingdom by 200 hectares. It is the vision of the royal father, Oba Saheed Elegushi to create an international business city which will incorporate the work, live and play theme. The IIBC will expand the Ikate kingdom and also extend Lekki Phase 1. We are making use of the best dredging and architectural companies in the world to accomplish this feat,” Akioye said. He said the Town and Regional Planning are being executed by Gensler Architectural Company, an American firm with global presence and United Kingdom based Grimshaw Associates. The dredging has also been contracted to two of the biggest dredging companies in the world, Jan De Nul –which is currently building Dangote Refinery- and Dredging International Limited, both Belgian companies. It will also consist of Residential Area (30 %), Commercial, Residential Area (10%), Business District ( 30%), Leisure & Entertainment (10%), Infrastructure ,road, recreation & green park (20%) and fibre optics telecommunications, sewage and fire service station. Akioye: “Investors are already buying the off-plan allocation released by the Joint Venture and we are already at advance stage of the project. Our infrastructural plan will include, Lakes and water ways which will be used for internal water transportation within the city, it is also required for the city’s drainage system to prevent flooding. There will be office park which will include a shopping Mall with farmers’ fish & meat market, cinema and entertainment complex. Two Hospital Buildings and a school other commercial areas will be sold to private investors. The office park will also have a Sports Complex. All these buildings we have a vegetated green roof to mitigate the urban heat island effect and all land owners will be encourage to use the same technology; there will also be a mini marina which can take at least 40 yachts.” http://thenationonlineng.net/elegushi-kingdom-proposes-300m-imperial-city/ |
