MikeofAfrica: This is an unnecessary argument. Totally uncalled for. Both men accomplished a lot. No need for comparisons. Politically WS may have always been an agbaya especially with the name-branding of PEJ and conspiratorial silence but it doesn't take away from his literary accolades or other achievements. |

Gajagojo: They have given this one new vocabulary for the year. Bigot, fascist, uncultured, unlettered bla bla bla. Words and phrases that were never in your lexicon. You guys just throw words around simply because your slave masters used them, yet you don't know the meaning or its contextual use. The same leaders you are fighting for eat from the same plate, while you downtrodden masses fight each other. Barrel and crab mentality. |
Politics / Re: Charly Boy Said Wole Soyinka Can Never Be The Man Achebe Was by Rimbaldi: 11:55pm On Apr 08, 2023 |
This tirade by charly boy is infantile. That WS goofed in his unwarranted attack does not mean he shouldnt be accorded his accolades in the literary space. Comparisons like this are just peurile. Both literary giants have accomplished a lot for African literature. For those who equate Nobel to superior prowess, it is only partially so just as grammys is for musical artists. Some of the best dont ever win a grammy. Let us appreciate their art and separate it from their political inclinations. Truth be told, WS's vituperation was in extremely bad taste. Further challenging Datti who never responded to his outburst to a debate only exacerbated the issue more. It was completely classless and reeked of a hack job. He never lent his voice in condemnation of the ethnic profiling, killings, and brazen rigging all because his friend was involved. But when the victims raise their voice in defiance, he rushes to pour unnecessary invectives and vituperation on them. That interview unravelled the man. It would have been better if he kept quiet if he couldn't remain neutral. |
Politics / Re: I Couldn't Watch 'Checkmate' Because We Had No TV - Aisha Yesufu by Rimbaldi: 11:32pm On Apr 08, 2023 |
AssCraver: Before Checkmate, there was "Cockcrow at dawn, village headmaster, ichoku, Samanja, behind the clouds, and many others ". NTA had a wonderful annual movie festival NIFETEST which produced many solid movies like the 1984 scary ogbanje movie. Nigeria was more united then under military regime despite denied freedoms, and the then recent civil war. Everybody felt at home in any part of the country. Political vultures have crept up and divided us again far worse than pre-1960s era. I think this opinion might be unpopular, but Nigeria fared better under military rule then, than our present democratic dispensation. Better economy, security, stability. Even the freedom of speech and expression which was the main reason for the demand for democratic rule is worse now. You criticize govt now, you are killed or arrested. There's almost nothing democratic in our present delusional democracy. |

Sangoamadioha1:I still don't get what your argument about seat is all about. The exact same thing has happened to me before, and not only in Nigeria. You can get to the aircraft to discover that your seat is being occupied by someone else. Airline crews resolve this all the time. What is your point exactly? That it is impossible? Or that you cannot get near the aircraft when your seat has been alloted to another passenger? |

Sangoamadioha1: Then you must be aware that airlines sell tickets in excess a lot of times and all those tickets are alloted seats, including those who buy online and check in online. So what is your point again? |
Politics / Re: Woman Narrates How Peter Obi Intervened When She Was About To Miss Her Flight by Rimbaldi: 2:27am On Apr 05, 2023 |
lordofreal: The same ignorance that PO and well meaning Nigerians are striving to bring you out of is what you gleefully display online. If you could see beyond the bustop where you do "owo da", you'd know how flights are operated. |

Politics / Re: Woman Narrates How Peter Obi Intervened When She Was About To Miss Her Flight by Rimbaldi: 2:19am On Apr 05, 2023 |
kunleham: Good education and exposure would have allowed you to deduce that he must have gotten off the flight for the lady to sit if the plane was already full. That is what PO is fighting for, so that you won't bequeath this same ignorance to your offsprings the same way your parents bequeathed it to you. At least there should be some positive generational change in your lineage. Just thinking out loud though. |

MetroLane: Nobody stands in the aircraft, it is not molue or BRT. Maybe Obi alighted from the aircraft for her or maybe he upgraded his ticket to business class, which is usually empty for the most part. Just maybe. 1 Like 1 Share |
Politics / Re: Woman Narrates How Peter Obi Intervened When She Was About To Miss Her Flight by Rimbaldi: 2:08am On Apr 05, 2023 |
Sangoamadioha1: It is common occurrence for airlines to sell more tickets than seats available on the aircraft. At the boarding gate, your identification is checked, then your seat number is checked at the aircraft entrance door. That is why sometimes, while you are still checking in your flight departure would be announced, or the ticket clerks would notify you that the plane is full already even though you came early. You don't have to pick unnecessary holes where there is none just because you may not like a person or a narrative. |
Politics / Re: OPINION: Why Only Educated And Sane Mind Should Be Allowed To Vote In Nigeria. by Rimbaldi: 12:27am On Mar 28, 2023 |
helinues: If you were educated, you would have realized that rule of law is what makes a nation great and when it is circumvented as was obtained in the last elections, only sound educated minds would protest against such deplorable acts. Ignorant, rudderless and belligerent folks would applaud malfeasance because of allegiance to mundane affiliations. |

So a yoruba sister won an election in Abuja, but just because she got help from well-meaning Nigerians' spearheaded by an Igbo man, her well-deserved victory has turned sour in some people's mouth? O ma gaa o! If it was a yoruba man like Osinbajo or tinubu that led this obedient movement now, y o u and your ilk would have been splattering all over nairaland telling us how he is the next best thing after sliced bread. N3TRAL: The problem with "never-do-wells" like you is that you put in too much effort into denigrating people above your station in life that you could never dream of attaining their height. The effort you put in attacking others could be better channelled to improve your miserable existence. Even if you dont like Obi, it is no reason to call him a perennial failure, seeing that he has done extremely well for himself both in private and public sectors unlike your paymaster who owned no known businesses yet amassed wealth from public office. There should be a connect between your brain and your tongue so that you can process information first before spewing bollocks. You lots never tackle Obi's issues with counterpoints, rather you throw tantrums and accusations that your masters have fed you, and regurgitate them like louts. Use your brain sometimes, that is if there's any left. |

Politics / Re: Lagos Guber: You Want One Nigeria, Yet You Want Igbos To Leave Lagos - Aloy by Rimbaldi: 9:18pm On Mar 13, 2023 |
Johnthum: The problem is not yoruba people, there are tribalists on every side of the divide. The problem is that Tinubu's only claim to power is tribalism. Notice how the political landscape changed from 2014 when Tinubu brought Buhari? The only thing he used to sell bubu to his people was igbophobia. He stirred his people up to hate igbos just for electioneering purposes and thats what he has been doing every election cycle. In my opinion, he doesnt hate igbos, but he inspires hate in his people to control them. He always introduces this inordinate fear of igbos whenever elections are around the corner and many fools run with it. It is a power game which is dangerous, but he doesn't care as long as he gets power. Electioneering in Nigeria has mostly been about fairness, equity and justice since 1999 until Tinubu's foray into the national scene. To all the fools running around carrying tribal matter for head, Tinubu and co will still have business dealings with wealthy Igbo men. Keep burning your own bridges because he told you to do so. 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: Obi Rejects Insinuations His Loss Is Divine by Rimbaldi: 8:57pm On Mar 13, 2023 |
LeoDeKing: This is the problem with illiterate mongrels parading as smart alecs. Obi that you call 3rd class semi illiterate has attended more schools than anyone in your entire existence, built schools, funded schools, done exceedingly well as a private business man, performed excellently as an administrator in public service among innumerable other accomplishments. Yet a miserable fellow like you languishing in penury with no inheritance from his father nor legacy has the guts to insult Obi. Politics aside, what have you or your entire generation achieved in your miserable existence? Obi has broken tribal barriers, inspired more ordinary nigerians than any other in this lifetime. Why are you lots afraid of him going to court? You people said he is wasting his time. Let him waste it, same way Nigerians "wasted" their votes. You can support your candidate in peace without making denigrating comments about a man who has outperformed your entire village. No corruption case or substantiated allegations, no ill-doings, nothing at all. Clean as a whistle, yet miserable, queasy loafers of your ilk are quick to throw jabs. Think before you talk. |

Politics / Re: Nigerians Betrayed Sowore The Endsars Hero For Peter Obi The Sars Governor by Rimbaldi: 1:34am On Mar 09, 2023 |
The stupidity some of you display online shows how poor your hometraining was. So in your fickle mind, this is the sentiment you want to stoke now? Sowore that was chased out of endsars protests several times because as an opportunist that he is, he wanted to hijack it and own it. If he was allowed to do that, he would have been the face of endsars, not the innocent people who bled for it. Sowore is only fit for student unionism or maybe NLC. He is a power-hungry egotistic self-righteous opportunist that will do Nigeria no good. We have all seen how their so-called activism ends when they are along the corridors of power. For small boys like you that dont know, Oshiomole was an ac t ive unionist. Keyamo was an activist. Adeyanju, Bingo Omokri, and many others. The real revolution is with the masses with PO as their chosen vessel but slaves like many of you prefer their chains because it serves as necklaces and bangles. Keep dorning your ornaments. You are at liberty to vote whoever you want. You lots only need to realize that for most of these politicians, you are cannon fodder. Tinubu is using the oldest trick in the book (divide and conquer). Before 2015, Nigerians voted based on different considerations. Every yoruba or hausa i know have always been proud of their yoruba heritage. Igbos too. This was a minor consideration because of the principle of equity, fairness and justice. Igbos and hausas voted OBJ against Buhari and Ojukwu. Yorubas voted GEJ. Tinubu brought a very dangerous game, igbophobia whereby every election cycle, he and his lackeys like the unroyal father in Eko will taunt Igbos and incite folks like you to start tribal banters while they laugh at you in their upper echelon. They Incite people like you against Igbos, the same igbos that you go to school with, play football with, buy medicatioms from their chemist. This is the exact same trick the elites use in the US citing racism in every single thing just to divide people and make it easy to rule them. Meanwhile they are all one body up the ladder while the masses fight. It worked in 2015, 2019, but the massive suffering in the land has reset some people's brains and they have seen the folly in their thought processes. What many of you fail to realize is that this is a class war more than anything else. Not about tribe, religion, race etc. The same Tinubu whose boys are fanning the embers of hate for igbos was pictured hobnobbing with a wealthy igbo man today (Elumelu). It is all about wealth and power, not about concern for the masses. MColuomo has his family in the US, you are in a bariga slum shouting jagaban. Mind you, Tinubu denied the same endsars killings which you are appropriating some glory to sowore for. In this race, only one man (PO) has and has always had genuine empathy for the masses and that is why people gravitate towards him for he inspires hope. You think you are doing him? Think again. 3 Likes |
