MY FAMILY NAME IS OSHOKOYA.
The prominent names among Ijebus take the following forms;
Oshokoya
Osunkoya
Odunaike

Adekoya

Osinbajo
Osikoya
Awonuga
Awosika
Awolowo


Remember in those days Transportation use luxurious buses call Osikoya Transport Service In Lagos, Ijebu & Western Region.

Ijebu omo alare
Ijebu ode ajalura
Omo afidipote mole
Omo alagemo merindilogun

Ijebus migrated from the Benin Kingdom and settled at Ijebu ode, that is where we have Ijebu water side.
Also the Yorubas came from the Benin Kingdom and settled in Ile-ife.
Therefore Ijebu is part and parcel of Ile-ife, The origin of Yorubas.
That was why all the Yoruba race could not resist any Person sent to rule them from Alaafin of Oyo (the Eldest of Oduduwa) all of them came from Ile-ife, and Ooni was made King in Ile-ife since no one among the decendant of Oduduwa was ready to hold the title.

Today, Since Ile-ife is the ancestral home of Yorubas that hold the Biggest Title of the Yorubas, The Ooni is the Most Highest ruller of the Yorubas. The first King of Ijebu-Ode was Crowned on the consent of The Oba of Ile-Ife.

You can now see the relationship, Yoruba came from Ile-Ife through Oduduwa, after Oduduwa died the 14 Children left Ile-Ife to head the extended Yoruba towns as Kings e.g. Alaafin of Oyo, Orangun of Ila-orangun, Shoun of Ogbomoso, Afonja of Ilorin, e.t.c.
Ijebus who migrated from the Benin Kingdom where His eminence King Omonoba Ereduwa, Iku Okpolo kpolo of Benin Kindom reigns came through the Niger Delta water ways and settle at Ijebu water side before extending to Ijebu-Ode, that is leaving the waterside to a plane and prominent town, also those who do not want to come to Ijebu ode decided to settle at different locations every where and that is why they call another one Ijebu Igbo because some Ijebu willing settled at the Farm location and not to come back to Ijebu-Ode again and were given King call The Akarigbo of Ijebu-Igbo. The Ijebu-ode Kingdom is the head of all Kingdom and was Headed by The Awujale of Ijebu-ode Crown by the Alaafin of Oyo of those days.

Ijebu as part of Ile-ife can not have any link with Jebusites in the Bible because Ile-ife or Oduduwa or Ooni, or Alaafin of Oyo do not have anything to do with Jebusite in Bible.


Oba Ereduwa recognized all the Oba of the Yorubas as the decendants of Oduduwa, since he new that they migrated from Benin Kindgom and settled at Ile-ife to form there own race. There is this understanding between Bendel and Yoruba.

In Yoruba Kingdom today, The Oba of Benin Kingdom, The Ooni of Ife and the Oba of Lagos are Three pillars of the Yoruba Kingdom.

That is why there is always cordial relationship with these Three Rulers, Go and make your research. Oba of Lagos always visit Oba of Benin from time to time, The Ooni of Ife too do pay homage to Oba of Benin and vice vasa.

You can see that This Obas knows The History of their ancestors, their origin, their race and Royal interrelationship.

There is know Oba that will reign in Yoruba Land that The Ooni will not know about as well as The Oba of Benin and Oba of Lagos.
They know how they do there Search for Oba, through the Ifa Olokun Asorodayo which they belief.

That is why you can see that, there is a mixed up among the Ijebus and Lagos as well as Ijos, Itshekiri, Ondo, Bendel as well as Ilorin, Oyo, Osun, Ibadan, Abeokuta, Yewa, Awori, Republic of Benin outside Nigeria formerly call Dahomey, they speak Original Yoruba fluently.

In all these tribes, you will find one common relation in there thong or speech, when they pronounce certain things, you begin to wander how they are similar to the order even have the same interpretation.

Ijebus are from Ile-Ife in Nigeria and not from any other place call Jebusites. We have some words that are the same but have different meaning, We have some Countries bearing almost similar Names.

Can we say Nigeria is Derived from Niger Republic ? Nigeria is simply ' River Niger Area' or Niger-Area or Nigeria. The wife of Lord Lugard Name Nigeria during British empire.

What of Algeria and We have similar Colours of Green and White, which always cause confusion during Football clashes to know which Jessy to wear.

So, Ijebu remains Ijebu.

If your landlord failed to pay Land use act bill since 2001 and now 2013 up to 12 years, then let him go face Lagos State Government, pack your load and leave that house, find an alternative before it grows out of hand. Government had been patient enough.

That landlord can not afford to pay all 1.5million now since he cannot pay before the alarm blows. The land use act given to him in 2001 might be 60,000 only per year, but when he failed to pay, penalty and interest will be added and accrued to the next year also in the next year same applies to date.

This is what we call the effect of Cumulative Valuation. Accrued Annual cumulative charges plus Cumulative interest to date and Penalty Charges to date.

Your landlord should better go an face his music, I can see the Gates of Prison opened for him already, is a matter of time, whether he pays or not. Do not jock with Government Regulations, its very risky and one has himself to blame if the alarm should blow. Trust BRF, Who born monkey ? Your landlord should go and ask Computer Village Traders in Ikeja, Mostly Ibos who are very stubborn and like braking laws, they were embarrassed and humiliated, held hostage and rendered helpless until they complied and pay their respective Taxes. My brothers and sisters on Nairaland, This is a logical question which needs logical answer; Bellow are my observation and opinion.

Firstly, there is no limit in Education, as we keep learning everyday. The fall in educational standard is not from Part-time studies but the nature of our educational system.

Many NYSC members today can not write good English because they are half baked due to unending Strike by the Lecturers and rushing to the Examination hall without preparation. Others include examination malpractices by students, Cultism influences, Sexual acceptance and free pass mark. Today student do not go to Library any more but to Social media, Video centre, Football viewing centre, Mobile phone Pinging, Browsing unnecessary and unrelated topics on the internet among others.

If fact student today are not all that serious in Tertiary like the olden days when you study to get Honours. The Government all contributed to low level education in Nigeria because there is no Job anywhere for you after School, those in the school are just there just to have the Degree and nothing more. The Zeal is no longer their.

Lack of sound future, Lack of facilities, Lack of fund among others had contributed greatly to the downward slow of educational graph plot in Nigeria.

The reason for Part-time study is to cater for those whose parents can not afford to send them to school but are working and want to still educate themselves to the pick of their career while they keep their job.

Most MBA programme in our tertiary institutions are meant for the working class with almost half a million expenses. The Part-time studies helps Nigeria because most citizens that would have been ideal and join bad gang or become miscreants are engaged in their respective studies.

An ideal man is the Devil workshop. So Part-time is more relevant this days because you can be working and be at your studies, that was why Chief Olusegun Obasanjo approved National Open University, a lot of Government Officials while in Service had benefited from this programme and becomes more useful and relevant to their organization.

Let me sight my own experience as an example, I am an MBA (Marketing) holder and a member of NIMN.
My parents could not afford sending me to tertiary institutions because I still have a lot of my juniors in Secondary & Primary School which my parents are still paying their school fees.

I got a job a Lagos state as an auxiliary teacher and work for about 3 year and Lagos state regulation was not in my favour as only Teachers with Grade II or NCE would be retain in service, so I decided to put in for Part-time studies in Computer Science at University of Lagos Computer Science Department to study Certificate in Computer Science.

I got a job at Nigerian Textile mills as a Computer operator and rose to Data processing Operations Supervisor. Then I put in again for Distance learning Institute University of Lagos to study Business Administration which I got the first degree.

I also decided to further my education to master degree but my salary was so small to study Post graduate then I got another job at Longman Nigeria Plc, I then put in again for Post-graduate studies at National Open University to have PGD Information Technology.

I found out that Computing career keep on changing and I could not coup with the expenses for Train and Retraining every time, as one Studies Basic Language, Pascal, Fortran and COBOL, no sooner than they became obsolete. I learn dbase III & IV no sooner than it becomes obsolete that professional are talking about JAVA, ORACLE, MSDBA, MSCE, etc. I then decided to call it a quit and choose a course that will be useful to me after I leave paid employment, So I chose to go for MBA Marketing at Lagos state University which I graduated and go MBA Marketing.

All my tertiary education from UNILAG COSIT OR DLI, through PGD at NOUN to MBA at LASU were all done on part-time.

I am still in employment with Learn Africa Plc (formerly Longan Nig. Plc ), feel achieved, at the top of my career and married with 3 children and comfortable.

So, I see nothing bad in part-time studies, for if there was no part-time studies I would not have achieved so much without stress.
