Business / Product Manager by roadtoproduct: 9:32am On Mar 07
As a Product Manager, you have to treat every part of your career as a Product.

Especially your application.

Here is a simple guide to landing a remote role in Europe

When you are planning to get a remote job outside your locality, you have to develop a tough skin.

You don't go to the gym for the first few months only, expecting a result.

Despite the pain you feel, you have to continually show up.

Getting any role, especially a remote role requires focus and dedication.

You need to have a leave of doggedness and enthusiasm.

-

The first step if you are a newbie is to invest in learning.

Learning through books and earning well-recognized certifications.

You can read at least one book a month, one chapter a day. One article a day.

It's not a race, take your time to read a single book. Understand what you are reading.

Take courses and get certifications from good product schools.

Don't do it for the certificate only. Make sure you are learning.

-

Secondly, Update your resume as you learn.

Focus more on impact than output.

What impact did your work make?

That's what your bullets should explain.

Always revise your resume as much as possible.

Edit it for each application.

Put more effort into your application.

-

Thirdly, regarding your application. It's not about applying to 100 companies in a week.

It's about the quality of your application rather than the quantity.

Take your time to apply to targeted companies.
Career / Focus Is A Trait That Only A Few Possess. by roadtoproduct: 10:39pm On Feb 28
Focus is a trait that only a few possess.

In a digital world of multiple options and unlimited access to information.

Focus becomes more and more important.

We often exchange our focus for something that does not hold value for our future.

To succeed in life, it is necessary to dedicate your effort to the object of your focus consistently.

It's true that anything we focus on, we attract and become.

To attain a state of focus, it is important to periodically assess your actions in light of your goals.

Here are a few things you could do today:

1. Have a Long-term vision broken down into goals.

2. A daily routine that aligns with your yearly and monthly goals.

In my opinion, keeping a journal daily is among the most effective methods to accomplish this.

Always review your day, your routine, your goals and your vision for the future.

Stay focused, Champ.
Career / You Don't Need Those Certificates. by roadtoproduct: 8:29pm On Feb 19
You don't need those certificates.

When you are seeking a Product Manager Role your priority shouldn't be Certificates.

Here are the things that you need.

1 A Good Network

Get in touch with knowledgeable professionals in your niche.
Leverage your social media platforms to benefit your career.
Build your network and make contact with other colleagues in the product space.

2 A Portfolio
Begin working on your projects on the side.
Utilise no-code tools to construct something.

3 Start where you are

You can easily transition internally within the company you are currently in. Talk to the lead or head of the team you will love to join and start volunteering to work for them.

4 Have a Seat First

If it's a company you aren't working for and they are willing to offer you a position for a different role. Take the offer that allows you to enter the organization.

You can later transition internally to your preferred role.
The important thing is to get started.

5 Build a Personal Brand

Share your journey and experiences. Share your successes and failures. Share insight into what you've learned each day. Promote yourself and your accomplishments. Make yourself visible to others.
Career / You Have To Position Yourself In A Way That Attracts Opportunities Instead Of Al by roadtoproduct: 8:17pm On Feb 12
You have to position yourself in a way that attracts opportunities instead of always chasing them.

Here are some tips that will help you:

1. Start impacting your audience by giving out value. The little you know might be just what will help solve another person's problem.

2. Start showcasing your skills. You don't have to wait to be called upon. You already have the free platforms and tools to bring yourself to the limelight.

3. Be consistent. This is where most people struggle, they need to be patient, and instead, they jump from one opportunity to the other.

4. Start improving yourself and your craft. Learn, relearn, and unlearn.

5. Try to make a new friend in your space monthly.

6. Get someone that will coach and speak for you.

Do just 3 of these and opportunities will come knocking.

Here are 7 mistakes hindering you from getting interviews as a Product Manager.

1. You focus more on interviews when your resume hasn't gotten you one.

2. You need help to properly outline your achievements in your resume.

3. You use one resume for all your job applications.

4. You lack the burning desire or passion. Getting the job is not a priority for you. You don't crave it.

5. You don't understand the basic principles of creating a world-class resume. And you are to lazy to do it or pay someone to do it.

6. You apply to every job you see. Even the ones that you know you don't have the qualifications for.

Career / Your Resume Might Not Be Seen Because Of Your Cover Letter. by roadtoproduct: 8:11pm On Jan 31
Here are the few things that make your cover letter stand out:
You need to understand that some companies request cover letters to save time.
So your cover letter must sell you fast.
Your cover letter serves as an introduction. It shows why you are the best fit for the role.
Do this so you don't miss out on the next interview.
1. Your cover letter should be one page. It should briefly highlight your strengths and experience.
2. You should show your knowledge of the company you are applying to. How you can make the product better.
3. It's not an avenue to share a story. Each paragraph should serve a purpose. The intro, body, and conclusion.
4. Include your official contact details. Your email should be official.
5. Lastly, make sure you know if the company requires that you paste it or attach it as a document.

Programming / If You Are Always On Your Screen, You Should Read This. by roadtoproduct: 3:55pm On Jan 22
Save your Eyes
Are you always on your mobile or laptop?
You have a long screen time.
This will help you
Increased screen time leads to what we call computer vision syndrome.
What happens is when you are on the screen, you are so much involved in those things, that your blinking frequency is reduced a lot..therefore the circulation of the protective tear film over the eyes is affected.
thereby leaving you more vulnerable to a redeye, irritation, grittiness, dryness, burning sensations in the eyes, also sometimes heaviness in the eyes, headache, watering etc
Things to do?
Stay with me
Avoid unnecessary use of smart gadgets.
Blink more often when you are reminded that you're staring at your gadget for a while.
Keep the brightness on the lower side.
Your computer level should be below your eyes.
Here is the best one so far, I practice this myself.
Follow a 20-20-10 rule.
Take a break after every 20 minutes to close your eyes for 20 seconds, and the next 10 seconds staring at a long distance.
You should also see an eye specialist for glasses. Just for lights emitted from your gadgets.

Science/Technology / How To Become A Product Manager by roadtoproduct: 6:45am On Jan 15
Product managers must navigate the constantly changing landscape of feature development and project planning.
To do this, they need a structured approach that will help them prioritize initiatives.
The best method for us is the Rice method. It is a potent framework that gives product teams the ability to make well-informed decisions based on important considerations.
The acronym RICE stands for Reach, Impact, Confidence, and Effort. It offers a methodical approach to efficiently assess and rank jobs.
Reach: Reach helps to navigate and locate potential customers or user bases that can have an impact on a certain project or feature.
A feature with broad appeal will contribute to influencing a sizable segment of the user base.
Impact: impact helps to gauge a project or feature's ability to influence specified business objectives or user pleasure.
This section explores the concrete advantages that the campaign offers, such as higher sales, better user involvement, or happier customers.
Confidence: A crucial factor in determining the accuracy of the data used to estimate reach, impact, and effort is confidence.
Product managers can make more informed decisions by using information with a higher degree of confidence, which is indicative of more reliable sources.
Effort: Effort can be defined as the process of estimating the materials needed to complete a project or a feature.
As a product manager, it's important to evaluate team capabilities and determine whether execution is possible.
It's important to have an accurate understanding of what the world requires.
Calculate the rice score: It's important to measure the rice score.
To determine this, you need to measure the score by calculating the straightforward formula(reach x impact x confidence) / effort.
This mathematical equation provides a numerical value that serves as the RICE score.
It's important for product managers to have an understanding of this framework.
Using this approach will allow product managers to sift through a myriad of opportunities and prioritize tasks effectively.
