Microsoft is working around the clock on improving Microsoft Edge browser, not only on the desktop but on mobile as well.

So in addition to Windows, Linux, and Mac builds, the Redmond-based software giant is also focusing on polishing the experience with Edge on Android and iPhone.

And this week, the company rolled out the first Edge 92 beta for Android, therefore giving users the chance to try out this big release of the browser in advance.

While a changelog hasn’t been released, worth knowing is that the beta build of the browser is only supposed for testing, with Microsoft too encouraging users to try out this release and then send feedback to the company to help the team refine the experience of each update before the production launch.

Android testing builds

Microsoft is following in the footsteps of Google with its Edge mobile strategy, as the company has recently released Canary and other testing builds of its browsers to give users the opportunity to try out some improvements before they make their way to the stable versions.

This is a win-win for everybody, as users can therefore install early Edge builds and try out features that haven’t been released just yet, while Microsoft receives feedback and bug reports allowing the company to refine the experience and resolve problems that would have impacted a bigger audience.

Microsoft Edge beta for Google’s operating system requires at least Android 5.0, so in theory, it can be installed on most devices out there.

Earlier this month Oppo unveiled the 5G connected duo of the Reno5 and Reno5 Pro. Now the company quietly launched a 4G version of the Reno5. It is fairly similar to its sibling, with some key differences – the connectivity, of course, which that also necessitated a new chipset.

Or rather an old one. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 720G chipset, which was also used in the Reno4 4G from a few months ago. The new model brings several improvements over the 4-series to put it more in line with the other Reno5 models.
The Oppo Reno5 4G upgrades the 6.4” AMOLED panel to 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. The resolution remains at 1080p+. The screen offers full sRGB coverage in Light mode while Vivid mode goes over 100% on sRGB and covers 93% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. HD resolution is supported in Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, plus you get to enjoy Dolby Atmos audio.Another upgrade is the main camera, which now stars a 64MP sensor behind a bright f/1.7 aperture. The selfie camera also got a boost and now features a 44 MP sensor. The three remaining modules are the same – an 8MP ultrawide-angle camera (119°) and two 2MP modules.

For tricky lighting situations, the Reno5 4G offers Super Night mode and Live HDR, available for both photos and videos. There’s also a number of fun video modes, from split screen view to dual exposure.

The 4,300 mAh battery is slightly larger than on the Reno4 (4,015 mAh) and charges faster too – from 30W it goes up to 50W. Interestingly, it comes with the same 65W charger as its 5G sibling and while it stops short of the 65W maximum, a full charge still takes only 48 minutes.

Adding an overpowered charger is quite generous at a time when other makers are removing the accessories from their flagship packages. This charger supports USB Power Delivery PPS, so you can use it for your other gadgets too. Also, there’s a 3.5 mm headphone jack on board – the Reno5 is bucking several trends.

The phone will run ColorOS 11 (based on Android 11) out of the box. It has 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB storage. The card slot can house two SIMs plus a microSD to expand the storage. Additional connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX HD and LDAC, but NFC is missing.
The Oppo Reno5 4G is launching in Vietnam first. It is available for pre-order from the Oppo Shop and several local retailers. The price is set at VND 8,690,000, which works out to $375/€305. Shipments will start on January 9, but you can score a Bluetooth wireless speaker if you order now (worth VND 1,290,000).

Netflix continues to sign top talent to create new shows and movies for its platform. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, having left England and relocated to California, have reached a deal with the streaming network to create all types of content for the platform.

Through a new production company, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will make documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows, and programming for children, according to The New York Times, which broke the news.

Markle played a major character on the legal drama Suits, but the report said she has no plans to start acting again. However, she and her husband may appear in some of the documentary shows they are producing for Netflix.

"Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope," the couple said in a statement to NYT. "As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us."

Given the profile of the royal couple, Netflix likely paid a pretty penny to sign them, and the story mentions that the couple was looking for a deal valued at around $100 million. Harry and Meghan also reportedly "quietly" spoke with Netflix rivals Disney and Apple before signing the deal with Netflix.

The famous couple have had a busy 2020. In January, they surprised many by announcing they were retreating from their royal responsibilities. Queen Elizabeth II eventually gave the OK, and the couple are now living in Malibu. They just recently bought a $14.7 million compound in Montecito, California.

Before partnering with Harry and Meghan, Netflix teamed up with President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama for their own TV shows and movies for the platform.

Microsoft has just released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 May 2019 Update, the latest feature update available for Windows 10.

Cumulative update KB4501375 was shipped to Release Preview ring users in the Windows Insider program earlier this week, and now Microsoft has pushed it to production devices via Windows Update as well.

This cumulative update increases the OS build number to 18362.207 and comes with a pretty long changelog, which you can check out in full in the box after the jump.

One notable improvement is a fix for a Night light bug in Windows 10, which has previously prevented this feature from working after installing the May 2019 Update. Microsoft says the same bug also impacted Color Management profiles and gamma correction.

This cumulative update also resolves looping redirects issue with Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer 11 and fixes a problem blocking some users running Windows 7 from upgrading to Windows 10 because of third-party antivirus software.
"Just a single known issue"

Microsoft has also addressed the majority of issues in the previous cumulative updates, so KB4501375 comes with just one known bug affecting Windows Sandbox. This is a new feature in Windows 10 May 2019 Update, and it allows users to run apps securely in a protected environment similar to a virtual machine.

“Windows Sandbox may fail to start with "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND (0x80070002)" on devices in which the operating system language is changed during the update process when installing Windows 10, version 1903,” Microsoft explains.

There is no workaround for this bug at this point, but Microsoft says it’s already working on one, and it should be released as part of a future cumulative update.

The next round of cumulative updates is due on July 9 when Microsoft will ship Patch Tuesday fixes with both security and non-security improvements for all Windows 10 versions.

Apple released today the second minor maintenance release to the latest iOS 12.3 operating system for supported iPhone devices to address various critical bug fixes.

Coming only ten days after the iOS 12.3.1 release, the iOS 12.3.2 software update (build 16F250) is now available with improvements for the Portrait Mode on certain devices, such as the iPhone 8 Plus. Most probably, this update also addresses some critical security vulnerabilities and other minor issues.

According to Apple, some iPhone 8 Plus users reported an issue that caused the Camera app to capture photos in Portrait Mode without the depth effect, which causes the subject in the image to stand out by creating a blur effect in the background. The iOS 12.3.2 update is only available for iPhone 8 Plus devices.
