Politics / Hoodlums From A Political Group In Lagos Mainland Threaten To Attack Students by rockerbolla(m): 8:11pm On Aug 15, 2019
What could have turned into an ugly incident at the free Hon Ajani Owolabi summer lesson was averted thanks to the quick intervention of Hon Ajani after he received a distress call from parents, pupils and residents of the Lagos Mainland Constituency that hoodlums and thugs from a political group still bitter about his emergence during the last election are bent on crippling his administration , making it ungovernable for him and threatened to attack innocent pupils attending the free summer coaching, thereby forcing the Principal to lock up the school and advised pupils to return home.

According to reports, students who arrived at the center for the free summer coaching in buses made available by Hon Ajani Owolabi representing Lagos Mainland 1in Lagos State House of Assembly were prevented from going inside. Those who came earlier were also restricted, which was very unusual.

In a swift reaction upon hearing the report, Hon Ajani Owolabi contacted the relevant authorities. The Honourable also rushed down to the center to have an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.

He ensured the reopening of the school for the pupils to return to their classes.

In his address to the pupils, Hon Ajani Owolabi assured them of their safety. He asserted that henceforth and throughout the summer coaching, officers from Iponri police station would be stationed at the center to protect them. Hon Ajani Owolabi also promised that other innocent people attending the free summer coaching would be safe.

The pupils, in turn, thanked Hon Ajani Owolabi for the free summer coaching which has kept them busy this holiday. They also appreciated him for the free writing materials and buses provided to convey them from and to their various destinations.

The pupils confirmed that the free bus ride contributed immensely in boosting their attendance.

Hon Ajani Owolabi urged all the students to be of good behavior and use the knowledge gained from the summer coaching to impact their society positively. He further re-echoed his commitment to the safety of residents of his constituents in line with the manifesto of the executive governor of Lagos state his Excellency Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The “Not too young to run” mantra started out as one of the usual agitation that seems to be dead even before take-off. But today it has not only been passed into law but has begun to yield a fruitful dividend.

One of such fruit is Hon. Ibrahim Ajani Owolabi, a young and dynamic leader though young but has been touted as one of the future of Lagos Mainland politics and beyond. He is vying for the position of Lagos State House of Assembly under the All Progressive Congress (APC).

One of the striking attribute of this young and energetic leader is the enormity of ideas he has to move his constituency forward. Through his campaign team, he was able to organise a well-defined town hall meeting across his constituency to get to interact with the people, market women, elders, young and old. This is Obama-like; as a young budding organiser in the state of Illinois. Hon. Ibrahim is able to put words together on how his eventual emergence as their representative will impact the people.

He has not only put his plans to words like most politicians will do; he is already putting them to action by having the BRT-like buses conveying school children to school on daily basis.

This is totally free and it will ease the movement of pupils to schools, when asked about the rationale of the project he said “to have pupils being conveyed to school will ease the burden of transport fare on the parts of parents and this will encourage pupils’ interaction thereby increasing attendance in school, if supporting our pupils through education is the only legacy I will leave behind I think my tenure will have been deemed satisfactory”.

I am sure he is truly living his political mantra “Be the change you wish to see”.
As a young entrepreneur himself, he understands the need to be fully equipped with the needed knowledge and material support to thrive in self-reliant business sector, so he has also put together some empowerment programs for artisans and widows. He is also helping his constituency getting healthier and richer through organisation of health seminars that allows for free medical check-ups for people in his constituency.

Welfare for elders and children is also top on some of the needs within his community that he is addressing through provision of perishable and non-perishable food to member of his community. This is not the stomach infrastructure type of welfare, it is one which is embedded in his food security campaign promise and he is already actualising it. The elders and children are very vulnerable to food insecurity and it is the responsibility of the people that is saddled to govern them that will provide for them.

Without doubt, Hon. Ibrahim popularly called “AJANI” by his supports is one to watch. He is surely going to win as his people are right behind him and beyond this present aspiration he is one of the few that will shape the future of Lagos Mainland politics.

Politics / #lagosapcprimaries: Ashafa Cleared, Goes To Poll Unopposed by rockerbolla(m): 8:12pm On Oct 02, 2018
The Director of Communications, Gbenga Ashafa Campaign Organisation, Mr Ayo Adio, confirmed that the coast is clear for the Senator to bear the flag of the ruling party in his senatorial district.

We received with great delight, the news of the screened senatorial candidates in Lagos State, as approved by the national working committee of the APC, which saw the very distinguished Senator Gbenga Ashafa emerge unopposed in the Lagos East senatorial constituency.

The APC has demonstrated it readiness to uphold its values and core principles that endeared it to a majority of Nigerians, by carefully screening the candidates that would be bearing their flags in the forthcoming general elections. The process was rigorous, thorough and professional, ensuring that only credible and capable candidates emerge.

We are therefore excited that we have emerged from the process with 'a clean bill of health ' in readiness for the upcoming senatorial election in Lagos East. Senator Ashafa's commitment and loyal to the party and moreso, his constituents, has never been in doubt, as evidenced by his stellar performance so far.

Senator Gbenga Ashafa will be affirming his candidacy tomorrow across the various wards and local governments in Lagos East amidst his teeming supporters and constituents. It is clear that the people of Lagos East have sided with a leader that puts their interest above his and is committed to doing much more.

We urge our supporters to remain vigilant and steadfast until the major elections in February. Much work is required and be rest assured as always, that together we can do more

God bless you for these words.... I am surprised people are saying it's his personal life forgetting that he signed Sharia Law
IamaNigerianGuy:
Nigerians are truly complicit in their enslavement.
People here saying it doesn't matter. Well it does matter and you need to know why.

This man was a former governor and present senator who supports SHARIA LAW. Sharia is no theory: a citizen has had his arm chopped off as a result of application of the law. If you go to any sharia state, your rights are abridged to fit the law. Here he is, now caught up in adultery / fornication, for which the SENTENCE IS DEATH and he claims it is an act between two adults. Are we to have one law for senators and another for common people ?.
What happened to the application of the law ?
Does Sharia now permit an individual to engage in three.some's ? So Sharia now permits 'jugunu' with ash.awo ? If 'yes', since when ?
We must insist he face the music.

Nigerians, receive sense.

Sports / Lagos Marathon : Foodclique Volunteers Run For Charity by rockerbolla(m): 2:46pm On Jan 30, 2017
FOODCLIQUE VOLUNTEERS RUN FOR CHARITY

For the second year in a row, FoodClique Support Initiative will be fielding a team of marathoners made up of volunteers, hunger advocates and philanthropists to participate in this year’s edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon in a bid to creating more awareness for hunger eradication.

The body, a registered Non Governmental Organization (NGO) with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT/NO 54151) has its main vision to see hunger become a thing of the past. Since inception, the NGO has provided meals for thousands of individuals which include children, senior citizens, widows, physically challenged, homeless, needy families, and socially vulnerable people.

At the last edition of the marathon, World Wrapper Man “the only man to run a marathon with a wrapper” was among the contingent of the one hundred members representing the FoodClique team that were received by the SA to the Governor on Sports Mr Deji Tinubu at the finish line.
In the words of the Founder of the body, Bolajoko Fadipe he stated “the marathon will provide us an avenue to collect donations to fight hunger, raise awareness and educate others about ending this ill in our society.”

He further urged everyone to be part of the marathon stating “Everyone is invited to participate at the event scheduled forSaturday February 11th. Even if you only want to walk or run at your own pace, it will be great fun running with hunger heroes who want to help eradicate this scourge in the land and move toward a hunger free Lagos”.

The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon enters its second year in a row with much fanfare in stock to eclipse the success of the previous edition

Politics / The Return Of Hunger: One Day Is Not Enough To End Hunger by rockerbolla(m): 4:47pm On Nov 19, 2016
THE RETURN OF HUNGER: ONE DAY IS NOT ENOUGH TO END HUNGER

Beneath Nigeria’s prosperity and abundant fertile expanse lies a big problem – hunger. Across the length of the nation, it is estimated that 2 out of 5 children in their formative stages go to bed without food. Hunger is a condition that occurs when an individual barely has enough food to eat to satisfy the body’s nutritional needs. In context, it is chronic, disastrous and portends grave danger for any community.

The World Food Day is celebrated every year to heighten conversations around this condition, proffering solutions and advocating Government’s support towards fighting the scourge. From Italy to South Africa and our country Nigeria this year’s event was no less different with various activities to mark the day.

Amidst the social media razzle-dazzle, influx of photos depicting solidarity that the fight against hunger is on a constant decline, gradually in the past weeks the world slipped back to its personal concerns whilst an estimated 795 million people of the 7.3 billion people in the world or one in nine, suffer from chronic undernourishment and bringing it home, an estimated 617,000 children in Northeast Nigeria are suffering from acute malnutrition.

Clearly, a day set aside by the United Nations to raise awareness on the fight against hunger is not sufficient as there is need for a renewed commitment towards achieving the world goal of zero hunger by 2030. Everyday, we have a responsibility to feed the future and improve food security lest we risk a stunted, malnourished world.

Every year, the significance of the World Food Day celebration is often lost the morning after because we put in all our energies to raise awareness on the challenge of hunger for that day and return to the status quo forthwith. Hunger is a prevailing issue, a cankerworm that claims lives on a daily basis which means we have to fight back with equal (maybe even more) tenacity as well daily. It begins with making a commitment to another human being, reaching out on our own and supporting already established organizations that work tirelessly to reach thousands and millions of people.

FoodClique Support Initiative a hunger relief NGO has spearheaded some of the most yielding campaigns on hunger eradication as well as create a framework for the actualization of this set goal. However, this article is not aimed at outlining FoodClique Support Initiative notable achievements rather; it is a clarion call to every one person to remain steadfast in the pursuit of completely quashing out hunger.

So World Food Day is over, what next? What did we glean from the celebration? How can we utilize the resources we have to achieve the goals set before us? What viable steps can we take every day to ensure that children in a remote village somewhere sleep with smiles on their faces because they no longer have to fight hunger alone?

The answers to the questions above lie within our zeal to continue in the struggle against hunger before and after October 16. It is a universal goal that involves you and I reaching out first to the people in our world who battle this menace of hunger and then to others we might never get to meet. There are children out there who did not feel the impact of World Food Day because a day in 365 days is not enough to reach everyone but with organizations like FoodClique Support Initiative that have great programs and volunteers, you can be rest assured your contributions will make the right impact.

The miles to ending hunger is far, millions of malnourished persons exist today world over, what is required of us is not what we can do on World Food Day alone, it is what we can do NOW!!! Today, tomorrow, next week and every day of the year. Remember, if you cannot feed a thousand people, just feed one. You can visit www.foodclique.org to learn more about how @foodclique is leading the fight against hunger in Nigeria

Sports / How Shooting Stars Fans Were Attacked At Onikan Stadium And Nigeria League by rockerbolla(m): 10:22pm On Aug 07, 2016
Football hooliganism is unruly, violent, and destructive behaviour by overzealous supporters of association football clubs and despite what the NFFL is doing to stop it, I think it's on the increase. Fans of Ikorodu United attacked fans of shooting stars after they equalized and threatened everyone including me. Football is a game that should unite us but I am surprised reverse is the case.

I had to change my jersey to the reversed side so that I will spared as they were approaching were I was at the reserved seats that cost #2000...

What baffled me the most that while all these were happening no policeman tried to calm them till it went out of hand and became a free for all fight...

I will not give up on Nigerian League, hopefully hooliganism will be a thing of history and I hope Ikorodu United should be fined for the unruly behaviours of their fans
