Friday on Elm Street (originally titled Freddy vs. Jason) is a collaborative studio album by American rappers Fabolous and Jadakiss. It was released on November 24, 2017, by Street Family Records, Roc Nation, D-Block Records, Def Jam Recordings.[1][2] The album is preceded by one single, "Stand Up" featuring Future.

Friday on Elm Street has been in development for damn near two years, so it can’t be accused of trying to bandwagon 21 Savage and Offset’s Without Warning. But their commitment to the slasher-flick aesthetic lasts about as long as the intro, which makes a more accurate sales pitch: Fab spends several bars working towards a Harold Miner gag, while Jadakiss rhymes over the drums from Notorious B.I.G.’s “Dead Wrong,” both serving as an ID check to clear out anyone under the age of 30.

As with most of the duo's recent commercial projects, Friday on Elm Street forgoes its obvious throwback appeal to try to exist in a middle-school netherworld. There’s a distinct post-Tunnel Banger approach on Friday on Elm Street, as the duo hone in on flows traceable to The Black Album, others from a few years prior when New Yorkers had to learn how to ride southern beats on the fly. And yeah, Swizz Beatz is all over this thing, but it’s mostly reprising his hypeman role from Kanye West’s “Famous” and his one production credit is a fairly standard Marvin Gaye flip (“Theme Music”) rather than the happy-hardcore Casio abuse that resulted in so many Ruff Ryders anthems with Jadakiss.

The idea for this detour apparently came from Kylie’s long-standing A&R. “I’ll try just about anything, so when he said, ‘Think of a country inspiration element,’ I said, ‘Sure!’” she recalled in a recent interview. There’s a certain record-company strategy-meeting logic behind this plan in the era of pop/disco/country hybrids from Man of the Woods to Golden Hour.
The music on Golden sounds ill-fitting and even cheap at times, like a deathtrap ride that has been painted bright pink to distract the potential customer. The worst offender in this regard is “One Last Kiss,” which uses what sounds like a Casio country preset rhythm for its basic structure, the cheap plastic claps throttling what is otherwise a decent piece of songwriting. The previous song, “Sincerely Yours,” is similarly lightweight, thanks to flimsy strings and a vocal hook which suggests Kylie wanted to go full “Where Are Ü Now” dolphin flute but couldn’t quite find room in the budget.
‘Golden”s highlights invariably come when country serves as a delicate seasoning for Kylie’s pop chops. Lead single ‘Dancing’ does exactly what it says on the tin, while ‘Raining Glitter’, the album’s soaring highlight, is a total joy – and a reminder of Kylie’s enormous likeability. This electro-country hoedown oozes fun and is awash with gorgeous details – especially in a post-chorus fill, where a goofy, trilling synth gives way to a muted “Whoop”, as though Kylie is tugging the reins on a skittish steed. Everything about it works; if only every song on the album sounded like this.
Golden is the fourteenth studio album by Australian singer Kylie Minogue. It was released on 6 April 2018 by BMG Rights Management. A large portion of the record was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, where she found new inspiration with its music, and also recorded some material in London and Los Angeles, California. The album was co-produced by Minogue alongside a variety of producers including Ash Howes, Richard "Biff" Stannard, Sky Adams, Alex Smith, and Mark Taylor, among others. Each track was co-written by Minogue, making it her first album since Impossible Princess (1997) in which this was the case.
