Hi Everyone,

I have an active EE profile and my province is in the process of nominating me. But PNp and confirmation from IRCC may take 3months and I only have about 2months to my workpermit expiring. With my points in the pool right now, I could get ITA soon but the PNP is meant to be a backup plan as the draws have been slow lately.

Someone mentioned that once I get nominated, I will no longer be qualified for the next FSW draw. Is this true please? Can anyone confirm this?

Thank you.

Customer service jobs fall under TEER 4 and are in the unskilled category which means you can’t get points for work experience with a customer service role

Thanks for your response. Yes, I’m aware its Teer 4 but based on the technicalities of my job duties, was trying to see if another NOC code would match but apparently not.

Hello,

Does anyone have any idea how I can claim points for my 1year customer service job in Canada? Just recommendations on NOC that can give me points.

Thanks.

Hello Everyone,

I would appreciate if someone could help with clarity. If someone is applying to visit a friend in Canada will they apply for a family/friend visit or tourist visa? They are not in anyway related to this friend so what kind if visa will they apply for? Under the family/friends section, it’s asking for proof of relationship like birth certificate and the likes.

Hello everyone,
I want to know if someone needs a transit visa if flying with Lufthansa from Nigeria and transiting through Germany to Canada.

Thanks

You don’t need a transit visa for this.

Hi,

Whatever works for you is fine. In my case, I attached a picture and the value of the property. This was not even an official valuation. I think it depends on how well you're able to prove it. If you have all those documents, there is no harm in attaching them just make sure you are not only attaching but explaining well.

Hello Everyone

In using properties for home ties, Will only picture of the house be sufficient or i need to add the building plan.

What part of the survey plan will i need to scan, and also the deed of assignment/allocation, will i be scanning the entire document or how do i go about it.

Do i also need to value a landed property that have a C of O?

I am in the process of valuating the properties, do i also need to notarize them after valuation?

Please i need someone that has done this before to guide me.

This is exactly what I've been trying to say. Lol thank you . I'm a lady BTW

Toceen2022:

For student visa, it only determines the amount of time you have to enter Canada, it's your study permit that will determine how long you can stay. For example, my visa shows I have from now till May 2023 to travel, which is one year. My program is actually 2 years and 8 months, but when I get to the port of entry, I'll be issued a study permit that'll last for 2.8 years... So, I don't need to leave by May 2023.
That's what he's explaining to you.

Thanks alot for your concern but I specifically asked the CBSA officer and he said there's no need to extend unless I plan to travel. Although I intend to apply incase of emergency.

Thanks once again.

Bankowner:
Maybe you know what I don't but your visa determines your length of stay on foreign soil and once it's expired, it's expected you leave irrespective of a valid study permit.

I'll still recommend you consult with the International Students' Office of your school though. It never hurts to find out.

Thank you.

No need for COVID test if you're fully vaccinated.

Heffalump:

Congratulations for your SP and escaping the big huddles at the POE.

I want to ask if 72 hours negative PCR Covid-19 test is still mandatory at the airport during departure from Nigeria.
Anyone with useful response may please help with this question.
Thanks.

Normal security checks but you have to spread your legs and raise your hands like you see in American movies.

I would have said I am coming early to settle in before school starts.

SageKun1:

Omo, what was the ghen ghen checks you had to go through at Frankfurt Airport though. Lastly, assuming your visa wasn't expiring and your program is starting September it'll mean you're travelling 3 months to your start date. If you were asked why is that, what could have been your answer to that
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by rotexteymie(f): 4:13pm On Jun 27, 2022
Thanks for your suggestion. A visa is a travel document and only required for traveling. Only study permit is needed within Canada and my study permit started counting yesterday. I hope you understand.

Thank you.

Bankowner:
Please do good to apply for your visa extension o! Infact start already because if the visa you have expires in August, you'd be asked to go and apply from outside Canada and you don't want that.

You're secure if you apply now and have your application number, get your school to give you the letter you need for the application NOW!!

LANDING GIST!!!!

Boring long read!!!

Flight from Abuja to Montreal.

25th June, 2022.I got to the airport around 3:30pm for a 10pm flight with Lufthansa. Everything was smooth at the entrance cos my parents were also traveling with me. With the luggages, it was easy to sneak my uncle and my younger sister in.

They followed us all through the airport and assisted with all the stops. When we got inside, we immediately weighed all our luggages cos omo we carried load. Trust African parents to want to carry everything. Thankfully, only our hand luggages were overweight so we were able to quickly rearrange. The whole thing took less than 30mins..  We then went to chill till around 5:30pm when Lufthansa desk was open.

Tbh, it was the smoothest process ever, cos when they see my parents, they just pass us together.

They asked for passport and ArriveCan only and they checked us in. I wasn't asked for my letter of enrollment or letter from school.

Next was customs, they asked if I was carrying cash and I said No. Then we moved to immigrations. This place was smooth as well apart from the beggy beggy. My parents made it easy cos everyone was gisting with them and didn't have time to stress us.

We then moved to the final spot, Security check. They scanned everything in the luggage and it was fine. We then proceeded to the boarding gate (I don't know the ones here) they asked why I was going to Montreal and if I have a family member there. I said yes, my sister and that's who we're all going to see. At this point, let me mention that I'm supposed to resume to NSCC Halifax but I'm going to stay with my sister and parents in Montreal first before school resumes.

We finally boarded at about 10:45pm and plane took off around past 11pm. Smooth trip all the way to Frankfurt but their food was trash. Maybe not trash trash but I didn't like it. I only enjoyed the water and orange juice.

Got to Frankfurt around 6am. We had 4hrs layover. The security check here at Frankfurt was ghen ghen. Lol anyways every other thing went okay. Just make sure you read the signs while in an intl airport . We finally left Frankfurt at about 11:45am their time after about 2hrs delay. The food from Frankfurt to Montreal was way better. I cleared my plate .

We landed in Montreal at exactly 1pm local time. Went straight to the self declaration machine. Had some issues cos it was only reading me and my dad's passport so I had to signal an agent to help with my mum's own. After that, we went straight to immigration. My parents were cleared but I was directed to Immigration 2 to get my study permit. This is where the devil wanted to show face but my God delivered me. Now, I was at the immigration desk,  the lady was speaking French I had to beg her to speak English but I could tell that she was struggling with English and understanding me. She checked my visa and asked why I was coming now. I explained to her that my visa was approved since last year after I deferred my admission and because of the rule at the time, I couldn't travel to Canada. She asked why I didn't come in January instead, I told her my program is only offered during the fall term. I could tell she was confused at this point. She then asked if I had accommodation in Halifax already. I told her I'm working on it.

At this point, she kept looking at my visa and the date on it. My visa was set to expire in August 2022 since I was only given 1year visa because of my course. She then escalated to her boss. Her boss had no chill and he started shouting at me and my parents. I tried to explain to him that I was the only one on study permit and my parents were visiting and that they've been cleared. Baba no hear that one o Lmaooo. He was shouting. Something in me just kept calm. I mean, what's the worse that will happen

So he took us to another immigration room to meet with someone else. While waiting, I called my sister to explain the situation. She said I should keep calm and request for an English speaking consultant. It got to my number and I was called. I went to the guy greeted him and presented my passport. He then requested for my parent's passport. I asked if he needed my parents to be there and pleaded for me to represent them as they were already exhausted from the long trip. He agreed for me to represent them so long I was with their passports.

He then proceeded to ask why I was coming early (Lmao the first ones asked why I didn't come since last year this one dey ask why I dey come early) Anyways, I told him I came early cos my visa was set to expire in August and also because my parents had already booked their vacation so I decided to come with them to make the trip easier. He punched on the system and then asked if we were going to Halifax immediately. I told him we will be in Montreal for a while to stay with my sister. He nodded and punched on the system. He requested for my new LOA and then told me that it was the old one that was on my IRCC account. I told him I had earlier sent the updated one sha. Immediately, he stamped my visa and printed my study permit and work permit and told me welcome to Canada. At this point, I sighed and smiled. I then proceeded to ask him the procedure to extend my visa. I waited till the permit was in my hands oo ahbeg. He then said there's no need to extend it unless I plan to travel and that in that case, I should simply apply online. The guy was really nice compared to those other scary ones. All in all, I thank God for everything shaaa.

My advise to everyone , please be confident. Speak up for yourself anywhere. I'm not saying you should be rude but make sure you speak up. So many African students had issues at the POE in Montreal. I'm not sure about their situation but I was pitying them cos they were just passing them like ball.

Canada sweet oo. Make una begin dey come .

I received a medical request from IRCC on the 9th of June, but I already did an Upfront medical after submitting my application.

I did an upfront medical at IOM Lagos on the 24th of May and got confirmation from IOM on the 6th of June.
WHAT DO I DO?

1. Nobody can answer that for you. It depends on your school and things you have to put in place.

2. Try Skyscanner they have really good deals

3. Not really sure. Try Ethiopian Airline

Good morning all,

I pray that all PPR hopefuls will receive their good news soon, and all that are traveling for the fall will arrive safely in Jesus’ name.

I have a couple of questions, as I plan to book and pay for my flight this morning.

I don't want to go to Canada and start incurring costs since I can't start working until September.

1. I'm planning to travel soon, but I’ll like to know how many weeks will be enough to prepare for the start of the fall semester?
2. On which platform can I get the best flight ticket deal?
3. Which airline has the cheapest flight to Canada from Lagos?

I’ll appreciate your answer to these questions.

Thanks.

Yes, your debit card won't go through. Try picking another payment option. There you will see an option to pay at their office. When you pick that, the booking will be reserved for 48-72hrs and then you can walk in and make payment.

Thanks alot for this information. I was finally able to get a date in April.

God bless you!

ShowYoung:
Perhaps this information may be beneficial to some.

For your medical screening, you will observe that spaces are getting filled up quite quickly nowadays to the extent that slots are no more available for April, the next slots available are from May 11 according to IOM and no available slot for April according to QLife as at yesterday.

After emailing QLife, they responded to me that more slots would be opened for April today. After frequently checking since 12:00am midnight today even though all April slots have initially been taken up, they have finally opened some slots for April and are being taken up quickly. This means they are reallocating slots which have been taken up initially but are not going to be utilized.

Act now before it's late.

Hello Marike2,

Yes, there are designated hospitals for Canada medicals. The hospitals are IOM and Qlife .

The school doesnt decide the tests. The test is for IRCC and the hospitals mentioned already know the specific tests to carry out.

Marike2:
Hello everyone!
Are there designated Hospitals for Medicals? Is the Covid test part of it? Is it the School that specifies what type of test to do?

Any one for Jan 23 intake here? Pls let's roll together as I need guidance and can't afford to use an Agent.

Thank you
