Family / Re: Husband is disappointed that we are having another girl by runi: 11:51pm On Feb 19, 2020
Crying because you are having another daughter is a sin. Appreciate the daughters God gave to you. Train them, girls can do anything boys can do. If you continue to have children because you want a male child you are putting your life at risk. If anything happens, your husband will marry another woman. There are women out there praying for children but they do not have. Do not join society to devalue girls as though we are not important. You are not God, so tell you man as per biology he is responsible for what you give him. I pray that God will grant you safe delivery, and protect your girls.

Romance / Re: Genotype Wants To Ruin Me, But I Am Fighting Back by runi: 12:53am On Jan 11, 2020
Sorry about your pain. I can tell you that it is better to quit a relationship now rather than bring children to the world who will have sickle cell disease. The pain and trauma will be too much in the future. For your own education people with AS also have their own issues. People who are AS (also known as sickle cell traits need to be mindful of their own health.

Recent research shows that "Sickle cell trait symptoms Unlike the more serious sickle cell disease, SCT generally causes no symptoms. Most people with the condition have no direct health consequences due to the disorder. Some people with SCT can have blood in their urine. Because blood in the urine can be a sign of serious condition, such as bladder cancer, it should be checked out by a medical professional. Although it’s rare, people with SCT can develop symptoms of sickle cell disease under extreme conditions. These conditions include:

increased pressure in the atmosphere, such as with scuba diving
low oxygen levels, which can occur while performing strenuous physical activity
high altitudes
dehydration
Athletes with SCT need to take precautions when performing. Staying hydrated is extremely important.

Family / Re: Sometimes I Regret Marrying My Wife by runi: 2:53pm On Oct 23, 2019
It appears that your wife's anger issues were present even before you married her. With marriage and responsibilities it became worse. No one should maltreat children in the manner that she has done. If this happened in other countries where the paramount interest of the child is looked after your wife will be arrested for assaulting those children and will also lose her own children in the process. The fact that your wife as a mother can abuse other peoples children in that way is mind bugling. I assume she does not do that to her own children, if she does then those kids are not safe with her.

My recommendation is for both of you to receive counseling. Let her also see a psychiatrist to assess her for depression and her doctor to see why she is always tired. If medical and psychiatric conditions are ruled out then you can safely say that she is just lazy and you can then have a frank conversation about her untidiness.

You should never lay hands on your wife even when provoked. I will suggest no more house help that she will abuse or kill inadvertently in a fit of rage.

Good luck

Politics / Re: Mass Protest Against Oshiomhole Administration Rocks Benin City by runi: 3:41pm On Nov 09, 2015
It does not matter if Edo people did not protest during the time of Lucky Igbinedion. People want change now and they are tired of empty promises. Some pensioners have not been paid for five months and my aged parent is one of those people.

Very unfortunate, this governor is running the state as though he is dealing with his children. What has sentiment got to do with administration of a LGA? Not sure if he ever took a course in public administration in his life. He is too erratic in the manner with which he treats people without respect. It bothers on harassment. If it were a developed country these people will sue him for harassment and intimidation.
Health / Re: Coping With Mental Illness In Nigeria: A Beautiful Writer's Experience by runi: 6:12am On Mar 17, 2013
Kudos to you Rayo! You are one strong woman to have lived with this for several years and for coming out of the closet to use your personal experience to educate people about mental illness despite the stigma. Most people do not understand metal illness and they blame it on just inability to cope with life or stressors, but it goes beyond that. I do hope you continue to take medications and utilize the coping strategies given by your therapist. Cognitive behaviour therapy along with medications helps. From the brief information given, you do sound like a woman with clearly mood disorder, perhaps developed BPD secondary to the mood disorder. I encourage you to clarify your diagnosis, as your symptoms suggest you have more issues going on than just BPD. I encourage you to because , I continue to see that a lot of people do not get the right diagnosis. In psychiatry obtaining your psychosocial history is very relevant to understanding your illness, what the best diagnosis and course of treatment should be.
As a mental health clinician/psychotherapist I understand what you have been through. We need to raise the awareness in Nigeria so people can come out to seek help. Unfortunately, individuals with mental illness are either considered witches or their illness blamed on a cause placed on them by their fore fathers. Mental illness needs to be talked about just as we are raising awareness about HIV/AIDS.
