Culture / Re: Did You Hawk Anything On The Streets As A Child ? by rygem: 4:23am On Jul 04, 2009
I hawked moi moi and donuts. , I remember the humiliation my fellow kids especially my school kids wanted to put me through when I started newly. I had to set a strong example with some of the kids by beating the living daylight out of then. Their mum would bring then to our house in the night to complain about the beating, swollen eyes, mouth and lips. They finally stopped mocking me and we became real friends. Wow! Those days, how time flies!
Politics / Re: Hardship In US. Forces Nigerians Home by rygem: 1:35am On Dec 22, 2008
Many folks who love hero-worshiping would find it very hard to live abroad. In naija, one eyed man in the mist of many blind men, shebi? Thats why some folks who get some little stuff in naija forgets that a lot of others and bounded by the iron cotton of corruption, manipulations and godfatherism. A country where wealth and materialism is highly worshiped. There is no dignity in labour so many people want to get rich quick because of the strains in the society! Thats why people are looting public funds and still walk around as free men and people consider them a success. When the corrupt officials helps you get some stuffs and show you how to climb the ladder of manipulations, you swallow all your criticisms of the system and join the bandwagon. It is a vicious cycle that runs endless! Irrespective of all these misdemeanors, there are still many decent people in various walks of life in naija who worked had to make it. They are the real heroes. If there is no other ways many countries abroad are better than naija, it is in the question of accountability and some measure of transparency.
Politics / Re: Huge Capital Flight Hits Nigerian Economy by rygem: 8:45am On Dec 09, 2008
Most Foreign companies and businesses in Nigeria and Africa gets credit from US and foreign banks. If credit is no longer flowing, they withdraw their cash to service their debts resulting in huge capital flight. Economies in countries are interwoven. If it is boiling in US and somewhere in in African, things seems ok, its only a matter of time.
